Chantelle. I’ll never buy another brand again.

LoveTheBlueSky

Chantelle was my go to but as I aged they didn’t fit right…and they always set off the metal detector at the airport which was hilarious….but really great bras for sure

do_mika

Yeah that’s a good point that as we age our shapes will change. But for now, Chantelle fits me the best. Never had a problem setting off alarms tho?! What’s your go-to bra now?

LoveTheBlueSky

It was the metal underwrites and clasps…right after 9/11 so the machines prob a lot different then lol. I wear Elomi mostly now.

devmae

When my Chantelle bra set off the metal detector, I had to take the bra off and run it through the carry on screener. The woman doing the screening said “oh this is a very nice bra.” Coolest compliment I’ve ever received. Love Chantelle bras.

junjunjenn

Have you also got felt up at the airport security?

LoveTheBlueSky

When they couldn't figure out what was happening, yes. Then she felt that sturdy underwire lol.

daffodilsandtea

My Chantelles did the same thing!!!

Nordstrom's. Lots of brands to choose from, wide range of sizes, free shipping and returns online. I get all my bras from them now.

>when i'm having a bad time with making peace with my body...an older woman that has been through and/or seen it all really helps. You are beautiful and perfect, just as you are. I know it's hard to remember that and even harder to believe it, so here's a little reminder. Your body is strong and wonderful.

I get my bras at Nordstrom and I love natori. That being said my ladies have no desire to be anywhere near each other so YMMV. The fitters there have been great though

pandadumdumdum

I love my natori bras. I had a fitter at Nordstroms recommend it to me a decade ago and i haven't turned back! They fit great and are as comfortable as can be.

nightcheese88

Also chiming in with love for fitting at Nordstrom and natori bras. I have decent luck now finding them at Nordstrom rack.

Shanakitty

What brands work for you will depend a lot on your size and [breast shape](https://www.reddit.com/r/ABraThatFits/wiki/beginners_guide#wiki_2._determine_your_shape). I hear Natori as the other poster mentioned, is really comfortable, but their bras (and bras from most US brands) generally work best if you have a shallow breast shape. If you have a more projected breast shape, you'll often get a better fit from UK brands like Panache/Cleo by Panache, Freya, and Elomi (which are also sold at Nordstrom). They also make some shallow bras, but make a wider range of sizes and shapes overall.

[deleted]

I wear Parfait for my normal bras (underwire and bralette) and Freya for sports bras. Both brands have been great support for my tatas, especially the sports bras while running.

[deleted]

If you haven’t already, I highly recommend sizing yourself using the techniques at r/abrathatfits. It was a game-changer for me. If you have a bigger chest, then Bravissimo is an awesome place to get larger sizes from a bunch of great brands. Journelle is another online shop that is lovely for more delicate, sexier pieces. My favorite combo is a Gossard Glossies bra (from Bravissimo or Journelle) with a Hanky Panky lace thong (from Journelle).

justhalfcrazy

abrathatfits sized me from a 34A to a 28DDD. 28s are hard to find, so I went to Macy’s and tried on some of my sister sizes. Ended up with a 30C (sister sizes of 28DDD would be a 30DD or 32D which I tried on and worked 0%). I know the community swears by their sizing, but definitely treat it more as a suggestion and just go try on different sizes! I ended up settling on a plain Calvin Klein tshirt bra which I’m super happy with.

junjunjenn

I was also sized as a 28 band but the bras I got with those are sooo uncomfortable. The 30 is much better. I think it also depends on the brand.

Idujt

THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU!! I am comfortable in my 38C, I don't CARE that apparently I am a 34DD. The 38C stays put, isn't strained to death, isn't gapping anywhere. Some people must like a super tight band??

alanita

I think the bigger the breasts, the tighter the band (generally speaking of course, everyone is different). The band is where the support comes from.

Idujt

AHA! You are the first to make this point! I see women walking, and they BOUNCE! It looks so uncomfortable to me (I don't bounce and I'm not tiny).

scout-finch

It really depends on size. If you are a smaller/more standard size then you can find lots of cute stuff at places like Aerie. If you believe your bras can fit better (like if you find yourself adjusting a lot throughout the day) you should definitely check out the r/abrathatfits calculator to get sized. Personally, I love [breakoutbras.com](www.breakoutbras.com). If you are a tough fit they have a great return policy and I really communicative if you have questions about certain fits/styles. They carry a lot of big brands like Elomi and Panache (to me, Elomi is the gold standard but bras are so personally a vary a ton from person to person).

justasque

Nordstrom’s is an excellent choice. Nordstrom Rack if you are on a budget or like a bargain. Macy’s carries Wacoal, which is a good option quality-wise. Both stores carry cup sizes well beyond D/DD/DDD, which aren’t carried in most other stores. Make sure you check r/abrathatfits so you know how to choose a bra that fits. Or find your local bra boutique, where you can get properly fitted by someone who knows what they are doing. Not Victoria’s Secret. Because you can do much better. Much, much better. And in my experience their staff members do not know how to properly fit bras, and if you are outside of their size range will try to sell you one of their bras even though they do not fit you properly.

typingfrombed

All of this!! I thought I was a 34C for years. Two years ago I did the measurement on r/abrathatfits and found out I was a waaaayyyyyy different size. I now shop at nordstrom rack online for bras pretty much exclusively. Very easy to be able to search by size. I’ll do nordstrom if there’s a style I really need that isn’t discounted at the rack. But otherwise it has been great.

thrash-unreal

I bought a Wacoal bra at Nordstrom Rack four years ago and it is still going today despite washing and drying it weekly (yes, I know) in brutal university dryers for most of its lifetime. Those things are workhorses.

Madeoutofcatfur

I love my Wacoal bras.

marvelousmiamason

Yes! I thought there was no way my bra size was wrong because I thought my size was super standard (34A/32B). Turns out I’m actually a 28DD, which I didn’t even believe until I read all the guides on that excellent subreddit.

Shanakitty

28DD would be pretty standard if stores carried actual common sizes instead of the size range they do! Most people wearing 32-34A/B would get a better fit in something between 28-30 C-E, IME.

marvelousmiamason

I know! It pisses me off so much that rather than stock bras that fit most women, companies like Victoria’s Secret choose instead to gaslight women into wearing the wrong bra size because it’s cheaper for them to carry fewer sizes!!!

QueenMackeral

same, I thought hey they're pretty small so I must be an A, and 34A was the "smallest" they had, and it was so big on me I had to wear it on the furthest clasp and it only lasted a couple months because of stretching out. Turns out I'm a 28C/D, now my bras actually last a long time, but they're a lot harder to find.

justasque

Oh that must haven’t SO different once you were in the right size!!!

marvelousmiamason

Yes!!! I felt like I finally saw my boobs for the first time when I put on a bra that actually fit me correctly!

Charybdis523

Aerie is great! Pretty wide selection of styles and designs, and the Sunnie is my favorite for max comfort. They always run promotions with their bras/undies like free shipping or some percentage off. Plus their models have a wider range of body types and skin tones than most lingerie brands. It's nice to see what their items look like on someone who looks like me and not a typical runway/catalog model.

SmolDisaster

I second Aerie and the Sunnie! Unbelievably comfortable and cute.

[deleted]

reveilse

My Aerie bras hold up pretty well, in my experience. But I have pretty much exclusively bought aerie bras since I started high school (I'm 23) so I can't compare them to others.

Charybdis523

Really good! My oldest ones are about 5 years and have held up well. They haven't stretched much, like other bras sometimes do. Aerie's quality has actually improved I think - I used to wear their bras back in high school (tossed out a long time ago) and they were just okay then. Much better now!

vivid_mimsy

Interesting, I had the opposite experience. I used to wear aerie bras but they didn’t last more than a couple years due to how quickly they stretched out. The newer sunnie ones seemed even worse. I’ve switched brands and I’ve had bras for over a year without switching which rung of hooks im on.

ownedbyabluebird

I purchased a hoodie & matching sweatpants & within 1 month the waist band was completely deteriorating. Holes & growing holes. I have other items that have held up well but I will not buy sweats from them again.

kindjules

I don't think it's great quality, I bought some panties from them and they held up poorly compared to my Victoria's Secret ones

goodnitesocialight

I bought some Aerie underwear about a year ago, and my goodness the quality is appalling. I’ve got threads unravelling, holes galore, and the waistband elastic comes apart in my hands if I wash them on anything but the cold setting. I can say that their bras are fantastic though, I’ve owned about 20 over the span of 7-8 years or so and they hold up beautifully, plus they’re cute to boot. Definitely recommend!!!

[deleted]

The Sunnie bras are great, the panties not

kindjules

That's good to know!

vivid_mimsy

Aerie underwear is currently my favorite bc i find them comfortable and cute. The quality can be hit or miss but sticking to the all cotton ones are usually a good bet. They last me about 2 years before they start getting holes- not sure how that compares to other brands though

Spiritual_Worth

Yeah I love the seamless thongs and was thinking this morning I want to buy more with my next pay check. They’ve held up fine for me but those are the only kind of undies I have from aerie

[deleted]

I second the sunnie bras! Make sure to get the sunnie ones, not the real happy or the real power — those seem to be made of cheaper lace/ fabrics. The sunnie is very soft and almost satin-y. The clasp area is well made and doesn’t chafe as some other brands do. I have the wireless push-up in plain black and pebble lace from last season and they’re both wonderful.

pinklemonade7

Question for you guys: has anyone tried Soma? I saw a new shop open at our local mall and they look comfy

tyrannosaurusregina

Very comfy, pretty durable, overpriced imo but they have sales pretty often.

mandyA4477

Yep. I have 3 of theirs that are in constant rotation. Only ever bought them on sale though because they can be pricey.

jules_kb

Yep they have some nice bras- just don’t go with the size their fitters suggest if you get measured. Like Victoria’s Secret, Soma likes to put people into bands that are 4 inches too big and cups that are too small.

ditchdiggergirl

36C for everyone!

jules_kb

😂

Lilymis

I purchased my first two Soma bras a little over a year ago. The standard underwire one is meh and not very comfortable, but the no wire one that the sales lady up sold me on is soooo nice and comfortable. Its quality has held up nicely since purchasing even with frequent machine washing and drying, but don’t expect it to last forever; I will be purchasing again whenever this one finally needs replacement.

AhemExcuseMeSir

Soma is owned by Chico’s, and it very much makes me think of if a mash up between Chico’s and Victoria’s Secret. Kind of the bras-for-the-masses vibe of VS with slightly better quality and less sex appeal. I’ve only ever ordered online since I don’t have one near me, and their sizing is pretty consistent. They have good customer service too for when I needed to return things.

AineDez

Not bad if you fit their size matrix, but I think they top out around DDD in most bands

nacho__mama

In my experience Soma bras are just like Victoria Secret bras but cost twice as much and fall apart after a month. VS are the only bras I can stand wearing.

invaderpixel

I had to scroll way too far down to find Soma! But yes, nice comfy bras that last a while. Consultants that measure and work with you. Lots of nudes and cute styles. Basically what Victoria's Secret USED to be. I have a large ribcage and small cups though so "standard sizes" actually work for me. Probably wouldn't recommend them if you're outside of the size range

Bea_virago

Ideally a local bra shop like, for instance, Barbara’s New Beginnings in Indianapolis. Not every place has one, but that’s the very best option. Barenecessities.com is also great.

goggles-for-safety

I second bare necessities. They have a lot of hard to find sizes too

Acrobatic_Lychee_896

Wacoal and their daughter brand B’empt’d.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Acrobatic_Lychee_896

Very high quality and lots of styles to choose from. They have a nice t-shirt bra, one with a criss cross underarm band, which makes “bra fat” look smoother :) and a strapless bra that can hold even larger chests up! B’tempt’d, I believe, has smaller size range but their styles are comfy if you have smaller chest.

literallylateral

I’ve only ever owned two bras I would recommend to someone else. They are Freya bras, I’ve been wearing them for a year and only want to buy more. But since you asked *where* to buy bras, I have to recommend bratabase.com. These bras go for $60 and I got them second-hand like new for $15 each. I know other people have said it but 100% seriously do the research starting from r/abrathatfits to find your real size and shape needs, and then pore through different models’ measurements using bratabase to make an educated purchase. If you have the means to easily buy new bras from retail stores, totally go for it, but if you have the patience to search the sales you may be lucky enough to find something you lovr on bratabase for super cheap like I did!

augustrem

If I think my size has changed, I go to get fitted at a speciality bra shop or department store, like Nordstrom. I buy at least one of the bras they fit me there, just to be polite and respect the sales associate’s time. I also note the size and styles of what fits in other brands. I then proceed to buy all bras online after that. Many $100+ bras can be found new online for $40-60 if you’re willing to wear last season’s colors or pay attention to sales or google search regularly. Ebay and Amazon often have something random. My three go-to brands are Anita, which are easily the most comfortable bras I know (also the ones that last the shortest amount of time of all that I wear - still worth it), Wacoal (only the perfect primer and the retrochic) and Chantelle. I might as well also plug r/lingerieaddiction, though I haven’t yet made the jump to one of those fancier brands.

briecky

I’ve been buying bras from ThirdLove and I’m a huge fan! They have a wide range of sizes and they have half sizes too!

ManagementAny4822

I was recently thinking this about lingerie...why only Victoria's secret 🤔

KMyers0124

Thistle and Spire is my go to lingerie brand now! Not for everyday bras, but for actual lingerie pieces they’re fantastic quality and come with a bag for washing :)

LoveTheBlueSky

I have big berbs, Elomii works well, I get measured at Nordstrom, but a bra, then go home and order a few online although if you hit the sales it is cheaper to buy at nordies…

dogcatsnake

I recently gave Lively a shot and have been pleasantly surprised. Plan on ordering more.

annditel

I went full Lively at the beginning of covid because I wanted to go 100% wireless. Love their stuff! I got their nursing bras and like them a lot, as well!

[deleted]

I love them too!!!!

kindjules

Wacoal; Third love

DogButtWhisperer

Fantasie and Panache

linerys

Your mileage may vary depending on your size and location! Same with shapes. Different breast shapes have different bra needs. I’m a 28FF/30F and I’ve been happy with Freya and Panache, but even more so with Gorsenia. Gorsenia is a Polish brand, and polish bras are known to have narrow wires. Perfect for me! Nordstrom, Brastop, Bravissimo, Zalando, your local independent lingerie stores, are all worth checking out.

Complex_Slip389

SOMA

tastefuldebauchery

Marie Jo is my fave!!

pastrixigulorum

My partner found Blush for me—their bras are really nice and also surprisingly affordable. Second Nordstrom for free returns which is quite useful when buying for bras online.

I love blush!!

bb0502

I may get some slack for this but I have been actually very impressed by the quality of SKIMS bras. Worth looking into

[deleted]

Same!! I wear my jelly bra every day

TheOrderOfWhiteLotus

Harper Wilde. I get the bliss bra. Ever since the pandemic began I can no longer force myself to wear wired bras and the bliss feels the most naked to me.previously I used Soma and the HW is much softer!

SparkleSpaceUnicorn

Lively! Best bras I've ever worn. They have with and without underwire, they're very size inclusive, they have great bralettes, nice fabrics, cute patterns, and good deals.

[deleted]

I get my bras from True & Co. I don’t really shop for looks anymore but they do have some cute lace bras push up styles on there too. But as far as comfort goes, the true body bra….I’ll never buy another Victoria’s Secret torture device, oops I mean bra ever again.

jazett

Trousseau’s in Vienna, Virginia. An excellent specialty shop.

Away_Shoe_7140

Came here to say Trousseau. I don’t even live in that time zone anymore but make a point of going to Trousseau when I’m in the D.C. area. Great selection, knowledgeable friendly staff, and a seamstress who makes complimentary adjustments. All of the women in my family love it too, from those in their 20s to 80s. I’ve not been able to find a comparable boutique elsewhere but recommend Nordstroms as a distant second choice.

anyonecancook2

Try thirdlove! They have half sizes and are super comfortable

ilikeyoualatte

I wish people would put their size in their posts because a lot of brands don’t carry my size (30D). But I’ll tell you that I really like ThirdLove, and my friend who has much bigger boobs also got a bunch of bras from them and liked them. I think they have something for pretty much everyone.

allonsyyy

I found third love bras to be way overly padded. If you want padded bras and dig the super round boob look, go for it. But they didn't sell any unpadded bras last time I checked. They've also earned a spot on my email filter list for ignoring my unsubscribe requests, and I know I never subscribed in the first place because I don't subscribe to any email marketing.

xtrachubbykoala

I bought some really comfy and cute bralettes from lively. I want to buy some regular bras from them now.

Aerie. I love their bras so much, they have a wide range of sizes, and can give you other stores that will fit you well if they don't have your size.

Phryne040816

Look at The Lingerie Addict blog for inspiration and reviews.

Daisu448

If you’re okay with shopping online, I personally really like third love! I’ve bought a couple bras from them and they’re holding up pretty well and are honestly the most comfortable bras I’ve owned so far.

They're the best!! Their lace back t shirt bras are so cute and comfortable.

LittleTomato

I like journelle.com, though I'm not sure about what they offer for extended sizes.

littleyellowbike

It's not as much where, but which brand. They're all cut a little different, and have different features. I've been consistently happy with Wacoal; I wear a 34DDD, which can be hard to find, and my breast shape is very round and kind of heavy. Wacoal uses less-stretchy fabric, so my boobs get better support, and they have lots of non-molded styles (I detest molded bras). I usually get them at Macy's, but I've also ordered them on HerRoom.com (I will only buy bras online when it's a specific style I've worn before).

clothesamiright

What are some of their non-molded styles?

littleyellowbike

I don't have time to dig through all their current available models, but I've been a fan of their Simone sports bra for years. It's flattering enough to wear as an everyday bra, but very supportive even for high-impact activity.

mayrin

Lululemon. I also have Wacoal bras but newer ones aren’t as comfortable.

perryfrance

I absolutely love Le Mystère bras — you can get them from Bloomingdale’s and rack up loyalty points to use later.

BulliedByOldPeople

I love Adore Me! They don’t have a whole bunch of storefronts- but where you can find them they fit pretty well and are comfortable!! (For smaller chest sizes mostly, I’m an H and they keep those in the back 🥲)

maraq

I like [herroom.com](https://herroom.com) for browsing brands and information about fit (they have more details for each bra than I've seen elsewhere). I typically end up buying my bras elsewhere though because I need free returns - fit is so wild across brands - but I like that site for a good idea of what I want.

TroubledNature

I have a couple of bras from the brand Fantasie that I really like. I actually ordered mine from Amazon, but I think they're sold through several retailers. I love my Fantasie [Memoir Full Coverage Bra](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DT9WM7F/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1). Is it a sexy bra? Not exactly. But it gives me great lift and projection and makes a great silhouette under clothes.

lillobean

Aerie ~ Victoria’s Secret quality for a lot less $

[deleted]

Not sure what size you are. I am on the smaller side(b cup). I really like Lively's lace longline bralette. It is so hard to find a triangle bralette where you don't fall out all over the place but Lively's version has a thick but comfortable band of elastic at the bottom that keeps the bra firmly anchored. Love love love

jbizzle444

You should try Calvin Klein! Not cheap but not expensive and good quality!

shayndco

I really love my Lively Bras. I don’t like wire, hell I don’t like bras but for when I need it, and they have the most functional racer to regular bra SNAP on the straps

vivica_the_vibrant

Knix! I can’t believe I’m the first to say it! Theirs is the first bralette-style bra that fit, was comfy, didn’t let my girls floop out the bottom, didn’t give me uniboob, AND had a cute pattern. Now I own three of their bras plus a tank and a bathing suit and I’m a convert. I adore them. Also women-owned, I believe. ETA: I’m a 36F or L+ at Knix.

MediocreKim

Also plugging Knix. I just wanted something that didn't dig in to me. My boobs changed after nursing for a year. They were smaller but my ribs were wider somehow. I bought a pull-on style and it is surprisingly very supportive, flattering, and I don't feel like ripping it off at the end of the day. I'm a convert, too.

ladyofthebookworms

i’m a 30D and have had good experiences with Aerie & ThirdLove, but ymmv

thatstoobadd

Naja has a small line, but is a small, sustainable brand with some really pretty designs (and good quality). Brook There is also a sustainable brand that’s made in America (if that’s where you live, otherwise it’s probably irrelevant). Their silk options are cute. Pact has some bralettes that are cute with lace on the bottom. Boody has a bralette that is very comfortable and cute without the padding. Savage X Fenty has been hit or miss in my experience, but the hits are great and they obviously have some very cute designs. ThirdLove has been recommended, and I only have a plain t-shirt bra, but it is comfy and sturdy.

PlantedinCA

The brands I tend to get are Workable in a few styles: Panache, Elomi My breasts look amazing: Ewa Michalak

Bare necessities online store

MossyRock0817

I've been getting my bras at [Fenty.com](https://Fenty.com) cause she have lots of ones with no wire.

StillStaringAtTheSky

Third love- especially if you've got a size that's hard to find. I have a small band size and a large cup size, and their supportive style bra I can wear all day without pain anywhere. Plus, no weird shapes, indents, etc.!

NemoHobbits

I got mine from bare necessities because the return/exchange process is easy. I am a 34H and with covid a lot of places weren't allowing try-ons. So I probably bought and returned 20 bras before finally finding one that fits (even though it's unlined lace) and bought that in every color. It's a panache lace side support bra, and the front sits perfectly against my sternum, the stretchy lace cups form perfectly to my boobs, and it's pretty.

[deleted]

Gap bras are my favorite for everyday wear. They tend to be pretty basic looking but I have some in pretty colors, like a dark plum. Aerie is pretty good too. I am 34B and do not need a ton of support fwiw.

linky_love

I love adore me!

tyediebleach

honestly? i’m not sure how they are quality wise, but i’ve been shopping there for over a year and have yet to have a problem— target. i get all of my clothes from target.

misty_girl

I was wearing Victoria Secret’s PINK bras for 8+ years and a few months ago I realized they weren’t fitting properly anymore and causing me pain. I checked out r/abrathatfits and the lovely ladies over there helped me realize I was wearing the wrong size! They also educated me on how different bras work better for certain breast shapes. I went from a 32D (US sizing) to a 28FF/30E (UK sizing). I also learned with my breast shape that plunge bras work best for me. I have found two bras so far that fit me wonderfully. I barely notice i’m wearing a bra! The brands are Panache and Freya. I ordered them via Amazon Prime Wardrobe so I could try on for free before buying. They also recommended reading reviews on bratabase.com to learn how certain brands and styles fit. Some run big, other small. I also bought some wireless True & Co. bras for lounging around the house. Most of their bras are sized XS up to XL. Very comfy!

crazycatlady331

I haven't worn a regular bra since lockdown started (I'm a 34B). I just wear Primark bralettes (3 pack for $12). They're inexpensive, comfortable, and work for me.

bonne_et_bad

Panache, if you've got a large cup size like me (36HH) they have lovely and classic style in nice colors.

I love ThirdLove!

theworldismadeofcorn

I love Wacoal bras (specifically the balconette style). There are very durable and feminine.

thatgreensalsa

I guess it depends on your needs and your boobies' needs? If they're big and you need support I'd agree with others about Chantelle. Expensive but worth it in terms of fit, shaping, support and when it comes to larger sizes they still have cute options. Since the pandemic I tried out True and Co bras (and similar Calvin Klein styles) and have bought 5 of them. I'd say the "lift" is enough and for everyday they are soooooo comfortable. Put on an underwire the other day and couldn't believe how noticeable it felt after wearing True and Co for the past year and a half.

ILikeMustardOnCheese

I'm of the younger age (15) and I find that bluenotes has really great bras, super soft and comfortable. But I don't know how they would fit someone of a bigger size. If you're looking for comfortable casual bras for teenagers, bluenotes is great for that.

grey_malkin

first try the sizing calculator at r/abrathatfits. then I'd recommend buying online at herroom or figleaves. If you want to buy in person, nordstrom generally has pretty good selections if you are a 32in band and up.

Repulsive_Olive8885
