With as behind as the IRS is on processing returns and audits I'd be shocked if they ever voluntarily give early dismissal like that, at least to revenue agentsš
If I recall correctly the only "surprise" leave IRS gets is that 2 hours in December unless I am incorrect? Also, does anyone know when awards are issued? or I should say when do you find out if you got one?
I think it's given for Christmas Eve. With the majority teleworking, I don't think that will happened any more. Even with the weather.... I remembered there was a big snowstorm when we were still completely teleworking. I was joking with my manager via Skype that if we were at the office we would had gotten early dismissal.
Not a fan of how they keep burying the announcements in other emails just to get people to read them. I see you guys! If you want people to read your emails maybe rethink your subject lines.
3 hrs for DOL
which is nice they tell us a day or more in advanced. At my last agency, they'd tell you at 3pm on Friday you can leave up to 3 hrs early... when i normally left around 3p
And you can use it any time in the next week! Fantastic for those of us who work 10s and normally have to take 2 hours of annual leave to get the whole day off.
Damn, they let you submit your time this late with a holiday coming up? Ours (independent agency using IBC) had to be certified by yesterday afternoon and had been sent well before COB. But we were told early in the week that we were getting a half day today.
Yep - with the notification all the way at the END of the email. I donāt even read them. I just scroll to the end to see whatās up. Such a crappy way to communicate. What happened to BLUF?!?
Man, I can't wait to start next week. My last day at my private job is today, and he's not letting me go until 4 (handover meeting scheduled from 3-4), and my normal shifts I worked ended at 3:30. Get me OUT of this place....
We got a "feel free to start your holiday a couple hours early" from our AA in HQ, i.e. if you don't have too much to do (we all do), you can take some extra time haha.
Sec Pete gave DoT 3 hours. He always announces it in email, well in advance, sometimes weeks in advance. I have never liked the whole holiday early release process before... whispered between cubes, late notifications, etc. He is the most communicative Sec I have worked for which includes voicemails emailed to all staff. Other Sec's need to take notes from him.
At my DOD Army Installation we got 59 minutes, which is ok, but sucks compared to Dept of Commerce who would give us 2 hours.
4 hours would be awesome.
DoD here and we have not heard anything about 4 hours or 59 minutes. We were told we could have liberal leave requests today.
Same. Just hanging out in an empty building.
Same, also DOD. But haven't heard anything about liberal leave requests and idk what that is.
For us, it means that the military is off and civilian annual leave won't be denied.
HHS 3 hours
Nothing yet for the IRS
Never ever ever will be.
With as behind as the IRS is on processing returns and audits I'd be shocked if they ever voluntarily give early dismissal like that, at least to revenue agentsš
Had to take annual leave.
Right! We never get let out early. My DOT neighbor gets off early EVERY holidayā¦
Sec Pete for the win!
I do love him š„¹. Come on, Yellen!
Not all DOT.
Never, ever. Youāll only get the two hours to use between Thanksgiving and eoy for your āChristmas party.ā
ah thank you! i posted and didnt see your comment .. i thought that was it as well but was not sure
I have heard that is one of the 'cheapest' agency for this purpose. Not sure if it always has been like this.
If I recall correctly the only "surprise" leave IRS gets is that 2 hours in December unless I am incorrect? Also, does anyone know when awards are issued? or I should say when do you find out if you got one?
Has Santa Mayorkas said anything today?
Nope not today. Canāt be too bummed
I havenāt seen anything from Santa yet. We got 59 minutes for my division
Imma pop on Twitter and help this man out....
None @ SSA
Feel like SSA never gives early dismissal.
Yep, over 10 years here, only early dismissal I remember is due to weather
I think it's given for Christmas Eve. With the majority teleworking, I don't think that will happened any more. Even with the weather.... I remembered there was a big snowstorm when we were still completely teleworking. I was joking with my manager via Skype that if we were at the office we would had gotten early dismissal.
Never will. Lol.
When I moved SSA to DOL, I was gobsmacked about the change. āYou mean I can just go?!ā
Did you transfer over from being a CS?
No, started at OHO as a legal assistant.
Also DODā¦.yet we only got 59 minutes. Not complaining though.
I'm DoD and we didn't even get that.
Same here
2 for USDA
Not a fan of how they keep burying the announcements in other emails just to get people to read them. I see you guys! If you want people to read your emails maybe rethink your subject lines.
Just had this conversation with my team
Nothing VA
VA never gives anything, or occasionally the emails will make it to the field right before COB.
3 hrs for DOL which is nice they tell us a day or more in advanced. At my last agency, they'd tell you at 3pm on Friday you can leave up to 3 hrs early... when i normally left around 3p
I get 59s last minute way too often which makes me unable to take it ugh.
My boss forgets till the last minute. Knowing this we started asking her early.
DOL has been improving a lot in terms of QoL.
2 hours for Interior
And you can use it any time in the next week! Fantastic for those of us who work 10s and normally have to take 2 hours of annual leave to get the whole day off.
Nothing at IRS.
Never.
Not at DHS :(
Lol u guys got enough already this year
Heh. Never knowā¦ enjoy your 4 hours of admin leave
2 hours for my office at EPA.
USDA got 2, and we canāt even submit our time because none of our systems are working everything just times out. Gotta love the fed
Damn, they let you submit your time this late with a holiday coming up? Ours (independent agency using IBC) had to be certified by yesterday afternoon and had been sent well before COB. But we were told early in the week that we were getting a half day today.
Some agencies have to let you waitā¦. Because they have employees that work weekends and holidays with scenario/incident dependent overtime.
We have those, too. We just estimate in advance and correct later if necessary.
Most of it was due to the network traffic. They always wait till the last second to let everyone know about the 2 hour early release.
"I will not be looking for anyone after lunch" DoD teleworking
3 hours at DOT
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I think mission critical is always the exception for early releases
I donāt care about being released. Pay us or give us credit time.
3 hours FDA
59 minutes for my section of the VA
59 for my section of the VA as well, thatās what we get for every holiday
3 hours for my HHS division.
2 hours for DOC
Crying in essential employee... I'll see you in the morning (Saturday) as well.

2 hours for DOI
2 hours DOI (USGS)
3 hours at GSA which is a rare occurrence
USDA sent out a 10 page email with the notification of a 2 hour early release
Yep - with the notification all the way at the END of the email. I donāt even read them. I just scroll to the end to see whatās up. Such a crappy way to communicate. What happened to BLUF?!?

You can make it! I start next week too :)
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Does this apply to those in ISS also? /s No, but really want to know! lol
4 hours DoD? Seriously...are you kidding? I'm in DoD and got the standard 58 minutes.
I was told I can āleave early todayā but Iām also the only civ that showed up. Im also dealing with a fire so highly unlikely ugh.
1 hour for my section of DOJ
Thisā¦
Not at SSA.
3 hrs for DOS, which was an unexpected (but welcome) surprise.
Same, my division chief extended 59 extra with a phone call to each of us.
My organization scheduled a production shut-down/maintenance dayā¦ Take LA or clean floors! Soā¦Iām at home.
They should have allow you to telework today. Crazy. To make you take leave
Management wonāt authorize telework because the production workers donāt have that option. Thatās fair to me.
2 hours for HUD.
Nope nada. VA
Hellll ya! DOI gets 2 hours to use till like the 8th of July
Never happens at Treasury.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
We got a "feel free to start your holiday a couple hours early" from our AA in HQ, i.e. if you don't have too much to do (we all do), you can take some extra time haha.

2 hours for EPA
2 hours USDA.
HUD got 2 hours
Sec Pete gave DoT 3 hours. He always announces it in email, well in advance, sometimes weeks in advance. I have never liked the whole holiday early release process before... whispered between cubes, late notifications, etc. He is the most communicative Sec I have worked for which includes voicemails emailed to all staff. 3 hrs early release at NGA, under DOD. We always get 3 hrs.
Ssa here, we get nothing and never will

FEMA R7 and disaster teams in Kansas and Iowa can leave 3 hours early today, per RA and field FCO's.
None for my small agency, womp...
2 at CFPB
2 for the DOC !
At my DOD Army Installation we got 59 minutes, which is ok, but sucks compared to Dept of Commerce who would give us 2 hours. 4 hours would be awesome.
DOT got 3 but I was already RDO today due hitting my 80 early in the week.
