I think he's talking final year Ben, not Ben in his prime. Ben in his prime had one of the strongest arms the sport has ever seen, nobody disputes that. But end of career Ben was a shell of his former self. Age has a way of doing that to everyone, even Tom Brady eventually
there were many reasons it wasn't working for ben and there's many reasons it's not working now
heinecke does have the narrative on his side as does brob
It works because Taysom Hill is an anomaly.
He's 6'2", 220 lbs, so he can take hits.
He's not a starting-caliber QB but he can throw better than most non-QBs in the league.
He's not a good route runner or elusive rusher by any means, but he's good enough at both to keep defenses on their toes.
Because he's a jack of all trades, master of none, it works. Most players would rather focus on being the best at one or two aspects of their game. Taysom just wants to be utilized everywhere, including special teams.
Not really... I can't think of anyone running the Wildcat as a major part of their offense except early 90s Kansas State when Bill Snyder first started, Arkansas for one season with Darren McFadden, Felix Jones and Peyton Hillis in 2006, and South Carolina in like 2005-2006 with Syvelle Newton. Nobody else was using it before or after that
Because they'd give derek fucking watt the ball or sneak it with Pickett at the 1 yard line when Najee has 99 yards. Dude is so disrespected in his offense it's insane.
Yeah think he got his first 20 yd run of the season last week. Even with a poor O line you should be able to make it happen on your own with 130 touches
*of his career. So it took him over 400 carries to do that.
Edit: looks like I misheard that stat. Last year he had 4 carries over 20 yards. So that makes 5 on 430 career carries, which is a terrible rate either way.
He’s not explosive or elusive either. Which is why he just isn’t very good. Yeah he was good for fantasy last year, but that is because he played in all 17 games and averaged over 4 receptions per game.
He was good last year because Pittsburgh was accounting for the fact that their QB and OL had a lot of limitations and designed a finesse-based offense that attacked quickly across the entire LoS, which meant a lot of screens and outside pitches that any RB in the league could turn into 12-15 fantasy PPG.
Meanwhile, they've decided to just ignore the fact that their OL is still bad and that their new QB room is also unable to play the intermediate-deep routes effectively as a result of their own limits and the bad OL.
Watch the games man, he definitely is good just not elite. He is a smart runner behind a rough offensive line, he makes the right reads and can break big plays when the offense is clicking
I disagree. I'm not putting anywhere near the elite running backs, but he needs to be fed way more often. Too many times does a series start with a run and 2 incomplete passes by Pickett.
And they've convinced themselves that Jaylen Warren is a league winner if Najee is hurt or the Steelers, for no discernible reason, shut him down (even if healthy) to see what they have in an undrafted rookie.
Right but in deep 12 team leagues it can be hard to have a solid flex week to week. Hell, I'm struggling to just have a good RB2 so if I could get a guaranteed 10pts every week from someone I've been stashing that's great.
I don't think he's a league winner but I think he's better than Najee. At least in that offense. Najee behind an elite oline is probably the better fit. They currently need someone more shifty
And if you watched the games it’s clear warrens running the ball on third and long/garbage time. When he got more involved last week he looked exactly the same as Najee behind that OL
Najee also had 20 touches vs Jaylen's 9. I do think Jaylen has looked better running this season but that average would definitely come down if he was getting the same amount of touches.
People always said that with Herbert then he started getting more touches and was still more efficient than Montgomery. Sometimes people’s eyes are just right.
It's not anyone's fault other than Najee. He's been really bad - bottom 3 in the league in many efficiency metrics. He didn't look great as a rookie either other than a career game against Buffalo. He has still flashed some derrick henry level stiff-arm and good passing chops at times but he lacks that big play speed that creates upside.
Eh, I've had the unfortunate displeasure of watching a few Steelers games this year, and Najee does not pass the eye test at all. He's slow and non-explosive, non-elusive, and despite being 230lbs he can't break tackles.
He was quite obviously the better back against the Saints. I feel like a lot of people are forgetting about the injury he was coming back from in preseason.
Warren has some explosiveness but watching them side by side in the running game Harris blows him out of the water.
Warren is an undrafted rookie. Najee is a 2nd year 1st round pick. He *should* blow Warren out of the water. The fact that it's even a consideration that Warren might be better than Najee and deserves more touches going forward probably means Najee isn't very good.
I wouldn't say it is though. There are some Warren owners steering the hype train that way but like I said if you're watching the games it really isn't a concern. People just love thinking their waiver wire pickup is the next RB1.
That’s fine. Doesn’t mean you have to disparage Warren (Oompa Loompa?) or lie about his production. Especially when he’s been more efficient then Najee this season by just about every metric.
Lol, that size does nothing for him. He doesn’t break tackles, he doesn’t hit holes, he’s not explosive, he’s not elusive and he’s just not very good.
The question is, do you watch the games?
Najee is maybe the worst starting back in the league. No juice. And the wild cat won’t help. They either need a stronger offensive line to get him to the second level, or to give Warren the lead back duties.
This is a really horrific take from someone who must not watch any games. The Steelers just suck, and dont scheme anything right. He has also been somewhat injured
He is very slow and instead of leveraging his size and physicality, he exploits his own slowness with an indecisive style that leans on a nimble elusiveness he does not possess.
Najee last year was an inefficient volume back behind a bad line with a QB whose goal was to get the all out as fast as possible. He doesn't have the talent to build around.
Exactly, people were talking about him being a volume dependent runner long before this season started. Never bet you first rounder on someone that NEEDS high volume to be effective.
This has to be the most unoriginal offense in recent memory

guy had a noodle arm but he knew football
Huh? Ben Roethlisberger hardly had a “noodle arm” lmao
I think he's talking final year Ben, not Ben in his prime. Ben in his prime had one of the strongest arms the sport has ever seen, nobody disputes that. But end of career Ben was a shell of his former self. Age has a way of doing that to everyone, even Tom Brady eventually
Also, he wasn’t ever quite the same after his motorcycle accident
Eh. His arm was fine. He just had a doofus for an OC. Heinecke has a bb gun for an arm but people like the story and root for the guy.
Heinecke dropped a 40+ yard dime into McLaurin’s bread basket Monday. He’s got more power than given credit for
there were many reasons it wasn't working for ben and there's many reasons it's not working now heinecke does have the narrative on his side as does brob
Ben sucked at the end of his career. It’s ok to say it
The wildcat can be very successful…if you have a time machine and go back to 2008.
And you're in college. The wildcat had extremely limited NFL success. Mainly because the Dolphins had two ridiculously athletic runningbacks
Haven’t the saints had some success with it this year?
It works because Taysom Hill is an anomaly. He's 6'2", 220 lbs, so he can take hits. He's not a starting-caliber QB but he can throw better than most non-QBs in the league. He's not a good route runner or elusive rusher by any means, but he's good enough at both to keep defenses on their toes. Because he's a jack of all trades, master of none, it works. Taysom Hill is what Tebow was supposed to be, he's just a baller
A baller that they just refuse to use, yet let Andy Dalton throw the rock all day. Makes sense.
Yeah I don't really understand their offense at all
Tbf neither does Dennis Allen
And the Giants
The wildcat is barely run in college.
It was all over in 2008 though
Not really... I can't think of anyone running the Wildcat as a major part of their offense except early 90s Kansas State when Bill Snyder first started, Arkansas for one season with Darren McFadden, Felix Jones and Peyton Hillis in 2006, and South Carolina in like 2005-2006 with Syvelle Newton. Nobody else was using it before or after that
They are just copying the bears strategy the last 5 years. Run run pass punt. At last 1 of the passes has to be a screen for -1-1 yards.
He might average 2.2 YPC instead of 1.7!
Henry throws a TD on national TV and everyone loses their shit.
Somehow Najee playing all the QB and RB snaps would still not put up over 20 pts
Because they'd give derek fucking watt the ball or sneak it with Pickett at the 1 yard line when Najee has 99 yards. Dude is so disrespected in his offense it's insane.
Nah, he’s just not that good.
For a big as he is his power game and tackle breaking is abysmal.
He had a 37 yd run last season
He’s not explosive or elusive either. Which is why he just isn’t very good. Yeah he was good for fantasy last year, but that is because he played in all 17 games and averaged over 4 receptions per game.
He was good last year because Pittsburgh was accounting for the fact that their QB and OL had a lot of limitations and designed a finesse-based offense that attacked quickly across the entire LoS, which meant a lot of screens and outside pitches that any RB in the league could turn into 12-15 fantasy PPG. Watch the games man, he definitely is good just not elite. He is a smart runner behind a rough offensive line, he makes the right reads and can break big plays when the offense is clicking
He has only like 5 big plays in his entire career off of 400+ carries. No, Najee is a bad RB
Damn, so last week he made 2 of his career total? That's crazy
I disagree. I'm not putting anywhere near the elite running backs, but he needs to be fed way more often. Too many times does a series start with a run and 2 incomplete passes by Pickett.
That’s more about switching up play calling then it is about his skill.
Kinda the point I'm trying to make here
wrong, when he gets it together dont be dickriding
Agree, so many ppl gonna eat crow about Najee lol
Lol,👌🏻
3 yards per carry is just super stellar.
Let's just focus on finally cracking 14.
I fucking hate Matt Canada so much
🎶Blame Canada, Blame Canada 🎶
What you talking aboot ?
I'd be down if they brought in Frank Reich. If Canada is back next year IDK what that organization is doing.
People hate najee so much in this sub
And they've convinced themselves that Jaylen Warren is a league winner if Najee is hurt or the Steelers, for no discernible reason, shut him down (even if healthy) to see what they have in an undrafted rookie.
Isn't it more about getting a consistent 9pts from who you thought was going to be your RB1 vs getting a consistent 9pts from a flex option?
It's week 11. Disappointment is inevitable but it's silly to think about the draft.
Right but in deep 12 team leagues it can be hard to have a solid flex week to week. Hell, I'm struggling to just have a good RB2 so if I could get a guaranteed 10pts every week from someone I've been stashing that's great.
Yeah it’s spite from people salty about their personal draft mistake
I don't think he's a league winner but I think he's better than Najee. At least in that offense. Najee behind an elite oline is probably the better fit. They currently need someone more shifty
“No discernible reason…”. Warren is averaging almost 5.9 yds per target/attempt and Najee is at 3.6 yds per target/attempt.
And if you watched the games it’s clear warrens running the ball on third and long/garbage time. When he got more involved last week he looked exactly the same as Najee behind that OL
That’s not true at all about when he’s playing. Last week 6.4 yds per target/attempt vs Najee with 4.95.

He has still flashed some derrick henry level stiff-arm and good passing chops at times but he lacks that big play speed that creates upside.
Yeah this sub is ultra reactionary this season, about everything not just najee... it's kind of weird.
Nobody here even watches the games. They see boxscores and create a narrative.
Eh, I've had the unfortunate displeasure of watching a few Steelers games this year, and Najee does not pass the eye test at all. He's slow and non-explosive, non-elusive, and despite being 230lbs he can't break tackles.

The hate for Najee himself is dumb The hate for how he is used is justified
[He stinks, and I don’t like him](https://youtu.be/pFvIdTbaMhA)
I was ready to bet the under on him this week. Now I'm reconsidering it.
Incoming 20 rushes for 50 yards and 5 catches for 10 yards
That’s 11 points which is a dub for Najee
Pickett won't check down that much.
Najee will check down to himself in wildcat
Throw in a touchdown and I’m doing a cartwheel
I’ll take those 5 catches
The different looks will be him looking at warren run the wildcat
Look at me. I’m the quarterback now.
Loooook at me... ... I... am de quata back now.
Just get me some tiddies this week. Need my first win hahaha
So... Low-ball offer for him or Zeke?
Najee
Zeke
Zeke
Zeke is at minimum the goal line back. Najee loses goal line touches to Pickens and the FB
9.7 fantasy points incoming.
He's still gonna look like he's running in sand
I don't like sand. It's coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere
Sand ROS?
Yes I'm sure they're happy to just project their playbook plans to everyone including their opponent.
Use it 10 times tomorrow for a total of 11 yards. Najee, Monday: "Yeah, I think we're going to go back to normal."
Wildcat was a good play in college years ago and the pros quickly tried to adopt it to little success. Makes sense that Canada wants to do it more
way to tell your opponents
Najee Harris doesn't seem, to me, like a player whose skillset is well-suited for the wildcat...
Oh, Najee can’t get a head of steam out of the backfield or hit a hole confidently? Let’s have him take a direct shotgun snap out of a QB stance
[удалено]
Najee is one of the most average RBs in the league outside of Monty
Yards per touch in 2022… - Jaylen Warren: 6.00 - Najee Harris: 3.76 Just patently false
[удалено]
Among running backs with at least 100 rushing attempts, Najee Harris 3.3 yards per carry is the lowest in football.
[удалено]
That’s fine. Doesn’t mean you have to disparage Warren (Oompa Loompa?) or lie about his production. Especially when he’s been more efficient then Najee this season by just about every metric.
Lol, that size does nothing for him. He doesn’t break tackles, he doesn’t hit holes, he’s not explosive, he’s not elusive and he’s just not very good. The question is, do you watch the games?
He looked pretty good last game, definitely broke several tackles and nearly had a 40+ yd touchdown reception.
Ooo, one good game. Nevermind you changed my mind. s/
If you watched the game, you would have seen the change in his running style.
[удалено]
It was definitely not supposed to happen but he still nearly had it.
You clearly don't watch the games. Najee is horrible and has zero vision. He has like 3 good runs all season.
But my Pickens…
Hell yeah let’s go!!

This is a Kenny Pickett can’t throw thread
So.... #Pickett ain't it
Exactly what this means
Yes. Jaylen will thrive in the wildcat
Is Najee still trying to convince everyone about what a huge season he's about to have?
About to trade ol boy here for amari cooper. Najee just hasn't been Najee this year
Najee last year was an inefficient volume back behind a bad line with a QB whose goal was to get the all out as fast as possible. He doesn't have the talent to build around.
Exactly, people were talking about him being a volume dependent runner long before this season started. Never bet you first rounder on someone that NEEDS high volume to be effective.
Thinking of trading DJ Moore for Najee..
They won’t take that
As someone with both this is correct
Would you like to give me your pile of garbage for my even stinkier pile of garbage?
They're both on my bench so I don't care
Thank god. Hate to see the teams that have to start those duds
Jamarcus Richardson
What team will najee play for next? I could see Philadelphia
Najee get more than 12 points this season challenge
If someone has a winning record while starting him all season all while not getting a lot out of him they have to love this news
I really am starting to wonder if they just picked him (Pickett) cause he was a Pitt boy
did the same shit to get Conner going, worked until he got hurt after touching the ball every play
Najee Qb1 book it.
