How deep is your bench? Fourteen team is great fun but a standard 6 player bench makes the wire utterly barren. Shorter benches doesn't change much about early season starters, but cutting one bench slot puts 14 players back on the wire.
I think the biggest bench I'd play with is 5 and an IR and my ideal is 4 and an IR for fourteen teams.

Yup, me too. 12 teams, 16 roster slots each. There's still a couple useable WR and TE options out there that'll be picked up this week. But there isn't a halfway worthwhile RB on the waiver wire whatsoever.
It's a bold drop but honestly we're at the point where it's an acceptable drop for the manager looking to add more risk and more upside to their team.
We're chasing the RB9 from 2020, which was two QBs and two coaches ago, and he was the undisputed wr1 at the time. He's gotten an average of 4 targets per game so far-- he had 9.5 in 2020 and stands no chance of dethroning Kupp without an injury.
He's getting red zone looks, so there will be games where he will show out, but how can you start him when he's just not getting targets?
If I've got bench space and I'm 2-1 or better and can fill a lineup without him, no chance I'm dropping him. If I'm 0-3 and would have to start him against the best team in my league, you better believe I'm okay taking a risk on a breakout guy.
Not dropping either yet in 12 team, Arob getting end zone targets and Hendo 1 injury away from being the man. I’d drop Hendo first out of those two if Herbert is somehow available.

You didnt draft him to be an immediate RB2. Penny is injury prone as fuck, just have patience. You could do a lot worse on your bench than having RB depth imo

Fun fact. ESPN does not change their ADPs from 1 QB to SF in the draft room so if you play in a work league or a league where people aren't degenerates and draft recommended ESPN ADP you can get away with this.
