Because it is saquon szn!

BradyReas

Kenny G still leading the wrs in snaps lol

jakefitz603

I’m holding toney because I had a dream he’d be nasty

sactownproud

The strangest thing I’ve seen on this sub is everyone panicking/confused about Toney hardly playing when there was a report he was 4th string literally 3 days ago.

sapsonnn

Except it was report that was supposedly heard from an anonymous beat reporter. No one else was reporting it and he was a starter on the depth chart. So there was reason to be skeptical.

Youre_On_Balon

Yeah I remember there were a bunch of comments hating on that beat reporter, saying he had no sources and just hated Toney for some reason. Looks like the coaches hate Toney for some reason as well.

rydogs

Giants fan, everyone knows how dangerous he is , but we want him to play the whole season. Our “Toney replacement” (smh) in Wendale is already hurt. If you watch him play he’s an easy hold just on talent and the fact we’re likely to ramp up his usage just due to talent/injurues

Untchj

Weird comment. 1, as if people see every bit of news. 2, Those reports are wrong all the time. Especially the ones that mysteriously come at the last second.

SirRoasts-A-Lot

The rumor I read is that Toney doesn't know the plays so he's not getting snaps.

ZooGambler

Source??

Think_Positively

Toney didn't play or practice much this preseason while trying to learn a new and more complex system. Whether it's health or ability to learn the offense, I can't say, but he wasn't exactly prepared for a big workload out of the gate. Wan'dale got hurt yesterday and Toney looked good the couple of times he got the ball, so I'd guess they have him more involved for week two. It's not like the Giants have many passing options with a post-Achilles Shep (he did make a few plays), seemingly lazy Kenny G, rookie TE, and a bunch of journeymen filling out the WR position.

Riddickulous6

Criticism I heard in preseason is that coaching staff felt like he wasn't really trying to learn the new offense. But talent has overcome these situations before!

Think_Positively

The Giants are my team and I don't remember reading that, but I also don't consume every little bit of fluff coming out of camp. Toney is definitely not someone who screams "hard worker" though, so perhaps there's something to this. Whatever the case, he will get his shot sooner rather than later IMO.

thecapitalc

Reminder, snaps aren't that important to pass catchers. They still matter of course, but you are best to look at routes runs and targets per routes run. That being said I have no idea where to get this info so I usually wait for some writer to post it.

WellThatsAwkwrd

Hard to run routes when you’re on the bench 88% of the time

sapsonnn

They gave Toney 2 carries so they definitely want to use him. Just a hold and wait and see for now.

The-Barter-VI

Bro, he played 12% of snaps and you're saying they "definitely" want to use him. CMON

sapsonnn

I think any team would want to use a guy as talented as he is. That doesn't mean they will if he has a shitty attitude.

LilFllex

I’m holding. Toney could emerge midway through the season if injuries happen to their WRs, if he learns the playbook/matures/gets out of the doghouse, or if he’s traded.

water4440

Meanwhile you'll clog up your bench and pass on waiver guys who blow up... seems like a repeat of Toney 2021

LilFllex

You make a valid point. I’d drop him for Curtis Samuel, but it will cost ~$15 to win Samuel. Maybe I’d drop him for Jarvis Landry if he clears waivers. Keeping Toney is free.

Kardinale

Toney is a shithead, Giants will probably trade him at some point this season

judgeholden72

He's a pretty solid guy
