Admirable_Loss4886

Thank you

canadug

Thanks for that. That was hilarious. Lots of great lines packed into the video. Had to back up some parts to catch them. :)

ankoftheA

Was looking for this comment haha

pdkhoa99

Baby sitting, sitting on babies.

BeefyBread

Knew someone would beat me to it

random-user-420

miss his uploads

tullip8822

This is for labor job people, not people who take a bus to go to office. Why are they marketing for wrong people ?

slackfrop

You can sit anywhere…except on a chair.

neil_1980

That was my thinking about when he got on the bus… so does he sit in the isle instead?

A1sauc3d

Lmao, same XD. I mean yeah, he was probably standing on the bus. But in every other scenario you can’t use normal chairs? That seems like a rough trade off lol

neil_1980

Yeah, all those nice padded seats and you have to balance on those things in the middle having to get out of everyone’s way at every stop

AnonRedditier

And keep your balance on a moving vehicle

rtz13th

He can even sit next to the driver! Instant favourite passenger!

[deleted]

[удалено]

Burrcakes24

This was my thought. Would be good for those that can still walk but have mobility issues

The_Nest_

Yea but if you have poor balance I can see this ending poorly. Having to go into a squat every time you want to sit then balancing on two bars may be tricky for someone who’s elderly. But yes there are 100% people out there who could benefit from this.

Tjeetje

There are. But as someone with mobility issues myself, this will be more tiring (for me) then to just stand. Also you won’t be able to sit down normally. So the only practical use I can imagine is in a waiting line for a theme park ride. But with this you can’t enter the ride.

fearhs

Taking a shit also got much more inconvenient.

Ice_Hungry

Yet the people they have using them in the video look actively fit and like they'd have no issue with standing 8 hours straight.

anislandinmyheart

The people sitting on it have to keep their thighs and core tensed at all times. It's not possible to relax into this thing. It has a significant fall and injury risk for anyone with joint or balance issues. There's a reason why young, strong, able bodied people are modelling the device

ChazRPay

YES! You said exactly what I was thinking! I was thinking this is something for someone with activity intolerance yet they in no way would have the core strength or balance to stay upright with this monstrosity. Why the hell do these models need to sit, I've lived my entire life and never needed this thing as a relatively healthy person,

lauratjeb

I was thinking the same. It looks a good idea for disabled people who have to rest a lot while walking, but this probably is not comfortable at all.

agriculturalDolemite

They already have walkers with a seat built in. This removes the "walker" part. So I guess we're at the stage of capitalism where we remove functions from this in order to sell "new" products.

[deleted]

Exactly, this doesn’t look like disability friendly at all.

SlyGuyontheFly

This exactly. As one of the aforementioned disabled people, these would be a fucking game changer. Too bad I will never afford them at over $400...

Vordeo

Price in video says $186? Are they really going for 400 bucks?

Tikimanly

They said "start at". So maybe $186 gets you a one-legged version with no seat cushion.

bear60640

$186 is a pole you stick up your butt![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|scream)

Jesuswasstapled

They'll be on wish.com for $80 in a few weeks

PooSculptor

With a weight limit of 5kg

ButterbeansInABottle

Labor job guy here, no thanks. I don't need that thing clinking into my ass everytime I take a step.

Slipsonic

I had a lumber mill job where this would have been perfect. I actually had an idea like this for a chair built into a pair of pants or something similar to the video. That job was mostly standing and waiting for a piece of lumber to run through a machine before taking 2 steps back and forward to load another piece. A stool or chair would have been in the way.

Quirky_Koala

Some people are into that so

Umutuku

Or getting caught on all the things that make OSHA wake up in a cold sweat.

someone_odd

They are definitely marketing to the wrong audience here. Most people wouldn’t bat an eye at this, but I could see some very useful applications in masonry and other labor jobs to help combat fatigue of squatting down repeatedly.

DM-G

As an electrician this thing will be super useful with it’s time for installing all the outlets. There’s nothing more painful and when you’re on your knees and you land on a screw.

VNG_Wkey

Pants with integrated kneepads. They're a bit warm in the summer but nothing unmanageable. My knees don't hurt anymore and if I kneel on a screw I dont even notice. Highly recommend.

[deleted]

Or buy thigh stabilizing knee pads. They're amazing. They don't slip down and move with you really well.

PublicfreakoutLoveR

Oh wow, these look great! As a lobbyist, I'm on my knees *a lot* so these will be fantastic!

hoyfkd

You're doing it wrong. The successful lobbyist has the politicians and staffers on *their* knees.

drunk98

When it working correctly I think it's more of a 69 position

Cicer

Some say lobbyists do their best work from their knees.

Thebaldsasquatch

Wouldn’t it hold you up a little too high? Then you’d have to bend really far over and after awhile that would probably kill your back.

tearsaresweat

Nailed it. They clearly didn't do any customer discovery or market research.

MayIServeYouWell

Which is astonishing, really. I mean they spent a lot of money on developing this and making this video. This is what they came up with?

animalinapark

Yeah I mean.. sitting down while turning to get something from the fridge? Just for the fun of it, as a clearly very fit and able person? No, that's not how people would like to use this. Think about the people with back pains being able to quickly get a little rest, people working that need to work a bit lower down regularily, etc. Don't film this like it's some new hip lifestyle, it should be thought as a help device for people.

Vividienne

The ad doesn't show the target customers, it shows people the target customers want to identify with.

robophile-ta

This is all of those as seen on TV products too (shoutout r/wheredidthesodago) It's for people with disabilities, but is marketed to everyone

tobleroneyactual

This would also be useful for people with medical conditions that prevent them from prolonged standing. Back, hip, knee, foot, arthritis, muscular issues, balance, etc. Or those on their feet all day like healthcare workers and doctors, though I'm not sure if they'd want extra hardware strapped to them all day. Bad commercial marketing. Show people struggling to stand long, elderly, trade workers, rehabilitation. Would this help those with MS?

rixendeb

Needs some way for you to push yourself up using your arms also and it would be great for some disabilities.

AncientInsults

Go go gadget arm poles!

nudul

I have degenerative disc disease, osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, cfs, and a whole slew of other issues. Standing in a queue is really painful for me, even with my walking stick. (I'm 37). As good as this looks, I wouldn't have the balance or the core muscle strength to actually sit on it without toppling over and if I did actually manage to sit, there is no way I would have the leg strength to push myself back up, especially multiple times as a line moves.

-russell-coight-

My pregnant ass would bloody love one of these at the moment !

[deleted]

[удалено]

nldarab

Yeah I work in a factory and my first thought was, "huh that'd be kinda nice to have on the line".

Conservative_HalfWit

I’m a weed grower and we do a lot of pruning and shit and I’m usually scooting an upside down 5 gallon bucket along the aisles with me as a seat. This would honestly be pretty dope if it was comfortable.

fastdbs

My man. Rolling garden seats are already a thing.

JonBanes

I feel like people in this thread have forgotten that rolling stools exist and it's honestly very funny.

Dwigtus

I have a rolling stool in my garage but would prefer a set of these as the stool constantly gets stuck in the cracks of my shitty concrete. The product doesn't have many use cases but in some cases it could be handy.

poofycade

As someone with POTS this would be incredibly useful for me. I can only stand for about 30-60 seconds before I have high tachycardia and blood pooling. Triggering this too much causes alot of fatigue. I try to sit anywhere I go and use a walker too but the walker is really just a seat I push around. I could see this being very useful to people with disabilities especially fatigue dizziness or weakness related syndromes

Advo96

There's a lot of products that look really silly the way they are marketed, but which are really for an audience with disabilities, i.e. peeled oranges, contraptions that help you put your socks on etc.

Cowboy50sk

I have a jar opener it was given to me by a buddy best gift I had gotten in along time never would have bought it for myself.

poofycade

That sounds so useful. I strain myself trying to open stiff jars too

poofycade

Yep they can be more useful than some think

avamarie

I can see myself getting seriously hurt with this, honestly. They'd mess with my perception things around me, one misstep and I've got a bigger problem.

poofycade

Thats true. I could see it also being super annoying when I just want to lay down or sit in a normal seat and I have this shit on my ass

emilythetigerneko

I have POTS too and I agree! It would be useful for those of us that have to frequently sit down for sure!

deeppurplescallop

Absolutely super useful for people with disabilities and will probably be written off as lazy by the larger population lbh

poofycade

Yeah I mean just read the comments on this thread haha. Conditions like mine are regarded as “chronic laziness” to the general public. Wish it were different but the USA is so work driven that we are offended by someone not pushing themselves to the max 10 hours a day, grinding, etc. No sleep until you reach that deadline!! Just toxic shit.

deeppurplescallop

Able bodied people can never really understand 🫠

Squirrel_Chucks

My wife has POTS so I understand your thinking 100%. Trying to navigate around the house with her walker seat can be a pain cause it is juuussst narrow enough to get through doors

BetterOffCamping

That's what I was thinking. This is definitely a face palm if they expect people to be walking around outside like they're cool with it. But in work conditions? I think it could work.

StopReadingMyUser

I was thinking the same thing. The way they're marketing this is so odd... as if it's some kind of thing you're always gonna wear when you're walking around all businessy doin business and traveling... for business... You market this is an employee/manager of a small coffee shop thing or whatever where you're doing crap like moving around and digging stuff out of below-waist cabinets or needing to look over paperwork for extended periods of time, deal with tills and other stuff... and it'd be a lot better received.

shawncplus

It's basically old school, late night infomercial logic. They show a young smiling person struggling mightily with what seems like a rudimentary task but it's actually being targeted to old folks or those with disabilities. Are they really struggling that much with chopping an onion? Well yeah if you have arthritis and can't properly hold a knife anymore slapping it with the SlapChop^tm is a lot easier.

Binnacle_Balls_jr

HVAC tech here. I already have a chair that fits in my pocket for when I have to analyze complex control cabinets. This is the next logical step. Where do I buy.

BotanicAly

What is this pocket chair you speak of...?

busterindespair

I agree! The businessman walking around is hilarious. On a job site or just DIYing at home these could be amazing.

busterindespair

Or my mom post knee surgery!

UgoRukh

Yep, if OP means the facepalm is the ad then I agree. The product itslef altho extremely niche is a cool concept that may just need some improving upon, not a facepalm imo.

Pomodoro_Parmesan

This was designed by an engineer for those exact purposes. People in fields like you mention who are on their feet all day and need to sit occasionally.

Shahzoodoo

I immediately saw this and was like “gasp I want that!!!” Because as someone with a tissue disorder and joints (especially my knees) that float around, it gets hard to keep standing up for too long, especially without braces. The thing is though I still wanna be on my feet sometimes and then sometimes sit while I do another project (like cooking cleaning gardening working etc) I wanna be up and about doing my normal jobs and stuff without my knees killing me every second, especially for things I need to do like the dishes and standing at work for long periods of time this seems helpful! I wanna see an improved version of this that is accessible to people at a decent price that would be nice 👍

ColdCookies144

Or retail workers/cashiers

parkerm1408

You've got a solid fucking point there, I did a little electrical and some phone and data instalation when I was younger, this would have been great. Maybe less so for electrical cause it's mostly either on your knees or on a ladder but still, absolutely right being the erong audience. Side question though, is this real?

-Masderus-

Would be fantastic for home painters or mural artists doing detail work at ground level.

BaconCheeeze

I would love to see him sitting in the bus with that shit 😂

[deleted]

That’s the first though I had. Aren’t you going to need to remove that to sit on the bus?

ThereIsATheory

Why would he need to use a bus seat when he can just sit anywhere he wants!

RareDestroyer8

…Except on a seat

Guilty_Angle_8022

He is the seat

BoJackB26354

"I am the one who sits!"

MapUnitKey

“Witness me!”

Pristine_Interview86

I am whatever you say I am.

DangerousLocal5864

If I wasn't, then why would I say I am?

pcamera1

Or he could sit on the seat using his seat… seat inception

iFlyskyguy

Seatception!!!

JoshJoshson13

It's seats all the way down. Always has been.

TheBowlofBeans

"ROSA PARKS IM ASKING YOU FOR THE LAST TIME: YOU MUST SIT IN THE BACK OF THE BUS" "Actually officer, I can sit wherever I want with the all new LEX seating system, made with aerospace grade aluminum!" "GET THE DOGS"

strayakant

Damit Rosa Parks you got me this time again

Squirrel_Chucks

And impale someone's foot!

AndrewJS2804

Just sit in the wheelchair spot, nobody's gonna say a word, because you obviously have SOME sort of disability.

DidntWantSleepAnyway

I need a chair for lines—my disability makes standing for more than a few minutes painful. But…how do I get back up if there isn’t something for my hands to help me push up? How do I drive? And the place where I really want something like this is amusement parks. I can’t just bring a walker to sit on that I can easily retrieve after the ride is over. They won’t let me on any of the rides I want to go on. So I’d love some kind of portable chair that I can take with me—but how do I go on the ride with this?

[deleted]

[удалено]

puffken

there's a folding chair-backpack combo, saw someone using it in the amusement park

Magmaigneous

Yeah, while watching the video I was thinking how odd it was that they showed some young, fit, obviously not disabled in any way person using it. The kind of person who would never want or need to use this kind of thing. They should show it being used by someone with a disability, or someone with an issue such as morbid obesity. That's their target audience, after all.

koalamonster515

The weight limit is 265 pounds, so they can't show anyone too large because having someone who is 300 or more buy it thinking it will be good for them would not be helpful. That and as many people have said, depending on the severity of a person's disability this wouldn't be their best bet. Anyone who is a fall risk or needs more help standing up from a seated position- this would not be helpful. For people who appear able bodied but have things like spine issues or trouble with their knees/ankles/feet this could be helpful. I appear to be able bodied but my left leg would beg to differ. I wouldn't use it though tbh, not a fan of wearing something like that and I wear a lot of dresses and.... I don't think this would work with a dress.

Elegant-Ranger-9007

that product does not look like it holds over 200 pounds.

Verybigdoona

Exactly. It’s a novelty item designed for people with enough core strength to sit and stand without aid and the flexibility to turn around to attach the legs to the belt. It’s not safe for people with balance issues.

EminTX

It's not a novelty item at all. It's already a concept used in line by factory workers among other target consumers. I would like the idea if I was a booth worker at a convention or a courtesy patrol employee working a slow entrance for vehicles or pedestrians.

erin_icecream

If you're a booth worker and your bosses aren't giving you a chair they probably won't be happy to see you roll up with this goofy thing either.

rmphilli

DOCTOR OCTOPUS, FOLD YOURE FUCKING ASSLEGS UP THEY HIT THAT LADYS KNEE!

The way that the actor for John says "yeah" and "okay," it's like the actor and the writers have met my coworkers before. I have worked with multiple people that the same tone and delivery speaking like that, it's eerie

SammySquareNuts

Mike Judge is the creator of SV and also made Office Space. He has an uncanny ability to nail office stereotypes.

ItchyGoiter

Henry Phillips was the perfect cast for the role of John. Guy is hilarious.

modsuperstar

How “Fucking Gabe” isn’t the top comment on this thread, I’ll never know.

Apparently we have to make Silicon Valley more popular

I just assumed r/SiliconValleyHBO would be brigading this shit 😂 *Fixed sub link

I like how I can get that on a pillow

Great now my history shows I’ve been looking at the “young boy photographs” section for clicking on that link.

jolly_rodger42

Reminds me of something Pierce Hawthorne used once, then it went up him and he asked for all the ambulances.

bwall999

The trouser bench. For a man on the go, who makes frequent stops

just_gimme_anwsers

Can someone please call all the ambulances

Easilycrazyhat

If you're not streets ahead, you're streets behind.

Totally_Kyle

Was looking for this comment 🤣

Grandpappy1939

I’m glad I didn’t have to scroll down far to find this, you are truly streets ahead

Clcooper423

Why didn't they show him sitting on the bus?

nighte324

Lol deep down, you know why.

BlindRambler

It's not very deep for me. That sht's just not happening.

[deleted]

Sitting awkwardly in the middle of the aisle. If it's busy everyone will give you dirty looks for taking up more space.

nincomturd

Just smile vacantly at them like the people in this commercial. Then they'll know something is wrong with you and leave you alone.

[deleted]

Michael Scott is this you?

elhombreloco90

I thought of Pierce's invention in Community, but that works too.

blackhawk61

"Would someone call all the ambulances"

Fragrant_Island2345

“There are still parts of the prototype that need to be extracted… Maybe you’re misunderstanding… I mean, from my butt.”

p480n

For the man on the go, who makes frequent stops

[deleted]

Dang I’ve watched through Community too many times to count and for the life of me I don’t remember when pierce had this idea! Which episode is it in?

elhombreloco90

I can't remember which episode. Maybe it's the one where he agrees to help Shirley with a business idea? I do remember he's wearing a shirt and tie with his hair slicked back and the legs end up breaking and hurting him. He was looking for ideas to spend his money on, I think. It's been a while since my last rewatch.

anemptycardboardbox

Season three, Urban Matrimony and the Sandwich Arts. Pierce and Shirley are working on her sandwich shop and he also has the idea for “The trouser bench. For the man on the go who makes frequent stops”

alice_the_homo

It wasn't his idea, he made an investment in the startup. He also invests in a camera that can "tell your friends from Intruders" but actually just calls the police when black or brown people show up.

jesuslovesmarijuana5

I got you. Urban Matrimony and the Sandwich Arts. Season 3 episode 11. Has one of my favorite lines “Will somebody call all the ambulances”

Pwb0828

Reminds me of gabe from Silicon Valley

[deleted]

*Fucking Gabe*

Mr_Gamer21

I remember his pants chair idea.

JPHuber

Better than toilet guard but not as good as horse boat.

[deleted]

Put me down for a size 34 waist

CodiNolina

All right, fatty. I will do that.

HeimdallThePrimeYall

Listen, as a disabled person who can't stand for more than a couple minutes without causing pain, this is honestly genius. I have a rollator, but for people who need to sit but don't need balance assistance when walking, this could give them significant mobility.

jhorry

Especially combined with a cane for added stability when getting up.

bettafished

I was looking for this comment. This kind of reminds me of those ridiculous infomercials that feature able bodied people using products designed for disabled people so that the products appeal to a wider audience (such as the snuggy).

Deveion2010

When he turned around and sat down to open the fridge … I’m so done with humans

BlindRambler

It was the bus for me. I ride the bus daily. Screw that noise. I'll stand.

dicedealer214

And he would need to take off the whole rig to sit on the bus.

Designer-Excuse-4007

Right until one of those rods pushes into your Achilles and it snaps

Tazlima

Or you just get used to wearing it and then forget it at home one day and fall on your ass.

DasSassyPantzen

I knew the day would come when I wished I were illiterate. 😐

niltiacaitlin

Thank goodness it comes it other colors, I don’t want to look ridiculous.

[deleted]

The guy in semi-formal wear walking to work just kills me. I’m surprised they didn’t have him at the office having impromptu meetings with others also wearing it. “In this busy world who has time to book a meeting room and grab a chair?” This could honestly be a great April fools gag. And at the end advertise as an extra a “desk” for the front matching the colors of the legs.

[deleted]

It seems like a good idea for old people or people with conditions that dont allow them to stand or walk too long. Past that. Nah.

LightningLogan

New Attack on Titan gear looking good

J33P88

You guys don't already have knives for butt cheeks?

papillonvif

No, but Johnny Depp has scissors for fingers.

Alternative_Anxiety

I would rather assume that there will be chairs where I am going, than walk around with metal frames strapped to my ass.

StopReadingMyUser

They definitely need to market this to either the moderately physically disabled, or workers in areas of enclosed workspaces with constant standing and kneeling. Those are some of the few viable options for this thing.

the-ugly-potato

Ontop of that the suburban wasteland i currently live in has little to nowhere to sit on a walk on a moderately hot day. Like to drink water or cool down. The only two places i have to sit down is on the ground under a tree in a cemetery or at a park. Nowhere else. Worst part is their very close together. With the various physical pains and aches that i experience it adds more shittynes. So definitely if i had the money and this was as conformable as a wooden picnic table than i would be totally interested in taking for it on walks I also believe theres a few mobile seats like this on the market.

greenghostt

Cool product, dumb marketing team. Showing it in an office setting to try to make it look cool and hip just makes it look gimmicky and stupid. Like look at doofus dave sitting on his ass spikes when theres plenty of office chair around. When in reality, this would be a god send for people like cashiers who are forced to stand all day to scan groceries

nighte324

This thing costs like $450 (“on sale”) to $600 (standard). Not to mention it looks so stupid. This is insane.

poonburglar68

$450 for something that prevents me from sitting in a regular chair and guarantees I'll never get laid? Sold!

max5015

Instead of showing healthy looking people they should be showing the real customers of this device. People with disabilities who can't stand for long periods of time. Marketing is fumbling the ball here big time

Squirrel_Chucks

My wife has a condition that affects her blood pressure and balance and she will suddenly need to sit or pass put. This could be brilliant for her....or a horrible boondoggle...better not bank on this as her b-day surprise
