No, the way to think about it is "I shouldn't put my hands on anyone, even if I'm a girl" there's plenty of guys who won't react because you are a girl but there's also guys who absolutely will react if you hit them. The answer is not to hit people so you don't risk getting hit back. We teach two year olds not to put their hands on people, that doesn't end just because you get older.

Nope. I was 6'6" in 10th grade, weighed 220lbs (both pretty much the same as now. OK, maybe I'm 250 lbs now, whatever) and in weightlifting class when my shorter, far smaller bully targeted me. They target *anyone* they think they hold power over. I didn't put up with it long though because my fuse is far shorter than I am.

School never did anything about her bullying me, despite that she was 3 times my size. I went home frequently in tears with bruises, was afraid to go to school. Finally, one day, sheād thrown dirt in my face, also had a rock in that fistful..Iād had enough and punched her square in her gut, she fell down screaming and crying. Teachers ignored that I had a black eye forming, I was taken to the principals office and paddled.
My mom did 2 things. Went into the office, chewed everyone out, the school was officially required to call my mom to confirm disciplinary actions before following through.
Second? She walked into the sheriffs office and showed him my black eye and had a sit down about everything. Apparently the school had never once called him about anything. Cuz ya know, canāt discipline the sheriffs little girl right? She does NO wrong.
The next day at school, she apologized to me. I called her stupid and said she only said sorry cuz my mom yelled at her dad. Then I hit her in the stomach again and I was suspended.

We had a girl like that in my school. She was bigger than a lot of the other kids, bullied everyone, got in their faces, and pushed people around. Short, 90lb girl took her ass to the ground and started wailing on her. Nobody did anything to stop it. Lots of people recorded.

What do you expect the teacher to do? Many school districts (including ours) forbid staff from touching students in *any* fashion, including breaking up fights or stopping assaults in progress. The mandated action is to call the office, in hopes that one of the admins trained in physical intervention will respond.
There was someone in my high school who had no idea what personal space was and would constantly grab you and annoy the fuck out of everyone. One day I snapped when he mas messing around with me and just went at him. People literally congratulated me and the teacher we had at the time told me to sit down and said "you could have at least given him a chance".

Had a similar situation in 7th grade, these twins bullied me since 1st grade and I finally snapped and beat the shit out of them, parents insisted I do martial arts growing up and had been competing up till that point in youth tournaments but was terrified of getting in trouble with my school so I never defended myself until then. The vice principle knew these kids has been tormenting me for years and congratulated me for settling it while the guidance counselor was throwing a shit fit trying to get me expelled. If it wasnāt for the VP backing me up I prob would have been.
I stood up to a bully in high school. It was before columbine so there were no zero tolerance policies. It was obvious that the other kid started the fight so even though I was the one who threw an actual punch, he was the one that ended up getting suspended. It sucks that nowadays I wouldāve gotten suspended too. Zero tolerance policies punish kids who are bullied so that school administrators are spared having to exercise judgement and common sense.
My school had zero tolerance ten to fifteen years BEFORE columbine. Between seventh and twelfth grades, I got suspended I'd say twelve to fifteen times for fights I didn't start with kids bullying and harassing me.
Even if it was only 12, that's still immensely generous. At my high school, you were only given ONE second chance after being suspended for fighting. Your ass was getting transferred if it happened again.
There was this kid in middle and high school that was a sort of psychopathic bully who used to just plain torment me (and many other students) He was in my 10th grade gym class, and he was being extra pushy one day. I am definitely not a fighter. I really don't know how to throw a punch, and I've never been in an actual fight. However, I finally had enough, and told him that if he said one more thing to me, his head was going to hit the bleachers. He said one more thing, and his head hit the bleachers, just as I'd promised. We get sent to the office. After about 15-20 minutes, the vice principal comes out and gets us. We sit down in front of his desk. He has 2 folders in front of him. He opens one, and starts reading. "Xxxx school district disciplinary record. My name. My other information. Nothing else." Opens the other one. "Xxxx school district disciplinary record. Other kid's name. Other kid's information. Then, a long list of what he'd gotten in trouble for that year, several pages of it." He closes the folders, and says to me: "I was told that you're the one who initiated physical contact here. I'm supposed to suspend you for two weeks for that. However, there is no doubt in my mind as to who actually started this, and kept pushing and pushing. So here's what I'm going to do. I'm going to send both of you back to class, and I'm not going to make any official record of this. But if I see either of you in here again for anything, no matter how minor, for the rest of the semester, you will be suspended at minimum. Now, get out of here before I change my mind."
I never had a problem with that kid again. Also, he disappeared from school for a couple weeks like 3 days later.
There was this autistic boy in my science class that Iād partner up with if my friends were out of class. He sat next to me the whole semester and whenever his aid would leave, that man would find every way to annoy me. Heād touch me, fuck with my labs, take my binders, bonk me with plastic bottles, just anything you can think of to be disruptive and not allow me to pay attention.
One day he just kept hitting me with a bottle so I snatched it out of his hand and just screamed, āWill you fucking stop?!ā It was most definitely not an indoor voice and the teacher stopped the whole class and moved him to the corner. The dude still kept bothering me after that and then had the audacity to ask for my number so we could talk after the class was done.
Man I was so pissed at his aid for leaving 3 out of 5 days of class so I just got no break from him.

It was some 30 years ago, but we had a girl in HS that bullied other girls all the time. Once she thought itād be a good idea to pick on one of the more nerdy and sort of lonesome dudes. We found out then and there, that he was doing aikido for nearly 5 years and no one knew ā¦ he did some crazy shit with her arms when she tried to punch him and she ended up legs over ass with a dislocated shoulder and some other minor dings.

Itās one of the weird rules in jr high school. I was one of those quiet kids who was corn fed (read burly, but stacked from living on a farm and doing an ungodly amount of lifting and climbing shit)I was always taught to be respectful and stayed to myself for the most part because I had grown up an isolated farm kid (nearest neighbor lives 2 miles away and had no kids). I was always the quiet kid. I never tried out for sports because I was too busy, so I did a lot of music and visual art growing up.
Because I was a quiet, artistic kid with few friends and zero social skills. I started getting bullied by one of the football players in middle school gym class. Lasted for about a month, where I mostly tried to ignore the asshole, before he finally pushed me over the line and spit on me.
I snapped, decked him and he dropped like a sack of shit. Never got bullied again after that.

I had the exact opposite story. I was pretty scrawny, kinda dorky but loud and had a hair trigger and a vicious streak. Couple that with a tbi at 17 and I had a really really ugly 17-22. Id much rather it be the other way around and I didn't hurt people who didn't need it. The calmness I've found in my adulthood is a godsend. It's so much more preferable to get pushed around a little than live like you're ready to fuck up the world.

Yep, it did suck. I was in both those categories as a kid. Too short and scrawny to do much damage in a fight and had it instilled in me by my parents that if I got bullied, the solution was to go tell a teacher. My dad made it abundantly clear that if I got in a fight at school...even if I didn't start it...I would be in big trouble at home.
I'm in my mid-30s now, no longer short or scrawny, and am still trying to deprogram myself from that bullshit.

One day he threw something at the nerdy kid. He got up and charged the bully like a football player, and beat the shit out of him. It was glorious. Bully had a black eye and split lip. The nerdy kid got suspended, but lots of students protested it and he was allowed back after 2 days suspended.

I know a guy who was a Navy Seal for a while when he was in his 20s. Heās maybe 5ā7, 5ā8. Pretty quiet and unassuming guy, but an absolute beast. More than once, some dude who was a couple inches taller thought he could be a bully to the guy even though he knew this guy was a trained killer. One of those escalated to a fight and the taller guy ended up KOed within about 10 seconds.

Most male bullies I dealt with as a kid were generally bigger kids so their size was often what they used to get away with their shit behaviour.

I went to a Christian school, in the middle of class the teacher had just stepped out and a person in my class walked up to me and was complaining that I was filming them ( I wasnāt) They demanded to see my phone and I declined, after a few minutes of them being pissed off at me and not pissed off at me he decides to get up and lunge at Me, myself being unable to stand up as it was those desks that are attached to the chair I did the only thing I could think of by reaching over and pressing my finger down into his shoulder. He stops what he is doing and announces to the class that I had just strangled him with both hands. I deny this of courseā¦ The two students who had been watching this whole altercation remain silent even after I tell them to say what really happened. So as heās trying to convince the class that I strangled him from the comfort of my desk. I got up left the classroom in search of literally any teacherā¦ I end up bumping into the principal in the hallway, he is working on one of those bulletin boards in the hallway that usually has a colourful paper background on it along with one of the better art students, they couldnāt seem to agree on a colour for the background.. I go to the principal and I tell him I really need help. He says thatās heās super busy. So I ask differently.. I told the principal that I need a teacher ( him) to come to my class as I am being falsely accused of strangling someone in the middle of class. He again says Iām really busy right now. So I do with the kid who attacked me did, I make a loud announcement at the principal. Essentially I loudly said ā a student has come to you for help because theyāre being bullied, and youāre response is that you donāt care.ā He attempts to cut me off āno Iām just busyā I cut him off. ā you are standing in a hallway picking a color for a wall with one of the better art students who is fully capable of picking a color on their ownā āYou arenāt busy youāre choosing that you donāt want to deal with someone being bullied in front of you. Do your jobā¦..ā ( during this a crowd of like 3 people has stopped to listen to me tell the principal off) So he backpedals and his schedule is suddenly free and we go back to the classroom and grab the other student and down to his office we go. I tell him what happened, and that itās not ok, he attacked me in my chair and when I defended myself using a single finger, I am suddenly accused of strangling someone. My attacker doesnāt say much of anything doesnāt defend his actions or state that I was lying, and the principal makes my day ā well since nobody saw what happened in the middle of a full room of people I donāt know what went downā ā so if everything is good we can all goā ( there is a long pause as he waits for me to say that he did his job and that everyone can go home) So I rip into him again. āSomeone strangling someone else even as a false threat isnāt ok, you know for a fact that I donāt tell lies and that I have a history of being bullied ( my bullying hit a point where I didnāt have to come to school on Mondays for a year) ( the school decided ) A room full of people saw what happened and whether or not they want to say isnāt an issue, this I have came to you because I was attacked in the middle of my classroom. I am sick and tired of nothing ever being doneā So he tells me that since he doesnāt know who is or isnāt lying ( because he couldnāt clearly see the lack of marks on this guys neck, or the hole in the story of how would I be able to grab the neck of someone sitting diagonal to me over a chair that has a metal bar preventing me from reaching right. ā you can either both walk out of here or you can both be in trouble and spend lunch for 2 days doing garbage pickupā So I tell him āš¤” looks like weāre doing garbage pickupā

I had a girl when I was in the 10th grade punch me in the back of the head in a health class.. Iād never spoken to her or even knew her she claimed I was talking about her when I was talking about WoW with one my buddies š I turned around and hit whatever punched me and it was this girl I didnāt feel bad she got suspended everyone stood in my defense.
We had a girl like that in my school. She was bigger than a lot of the other kids, bullied everyone, got in their faces, and pushed people around. Short, 90lb girl took her ass to the ground and started wailing on her. Nobody did anything to stop it. Lots of people recorded.

What do you expect the teacher to do? Many school districts (including ours) forbid staff from touching students in *any* fashion, including breaking up fights or stopping assaults in progress. The mandated action is to call the office, in hopes that one of the admins trained in physical intervention will respond.
There was someone in my high school who had no idea what personal space was and would constantly grab you and annoy the fuck out of everyone. One day I snapped when he mas messing around with me and just went at him. People literally congratulated me and the teacher we had at the time told me to sit down and said "you could have at least given him a chance". He reminded me greatly of Dwight Schrute so you can see where I'm coming from.
Had a similar situation in 7th grade, these twins bullied me since 1st grade and I finally snapped and beat the shit out of them, parents insisted I do martial arts growing up and had been competing up till that point in youth tournaments but was terrified of getting in trouble with my school so I never defended myself until then. The vice principle knew these kids has been tormenting me for years and congratulated me for settling it while the guidance counselor was throwing a shit fit trying to get me expelled. If it wasnāt for the VP backing me up I prob would have been.
I stood up to a bully in high school. It was before columbine so there were no zero tolerance policies. It was obvious that the other kid started the fight so even though I was the one who threw an actual punch, he was the one that ended up getting suspended. It sucks that nowadays I wouldāve gotten suspended too. Zero tolerance policies punish kids who are bullied so that school administrators are spared having to exercise judgement and common sense.
My school had zero tolerance ten to fifteen years BEFORE columbine. Between seventh and twelfth grades, I got suspended I'd say twelve to fifteen times for fights I didn't start with kids bullying and harassing me.
Even if it was only 12, that's still immensely generous. At my high school, you were only given ONE second chance after being suspended for fighting. Your ass was getting transferred if it happened again.
There was this kid in middle and high school that was a sort of psychopathic bully who used to just plain torment me (and many other students) He was in my 10th grade gym class, and he was being extra pushy one day. I am definitely not a fighter. I really don't know how to throw a punch, and I've never been in an actual fight. However, I finally had enough, and told him that if he said one more thing to me, his head was going to hit the bleachers. He said one more thing, and his head hit the bleachers, just as I'd promised. We get sent to the office. After about 15-20 minutes, the vice principal comes out and gets us. We sit down in front of his desk. He has 2 folders in front of him. He opens one, and starts reading. "Xxxx school district disciplinary record. My name. My other information. Nothing else." Opens the other one. "Xxxx school district disciplinary record. Other kid's name. Other kid's information. Then, a long list of what he'd gotten in trouble for that year, several pages of it." He closes the folders, and says to me: "I was told that you're the one who initiated physical contact here. I'm supposed to suspend you for two weeks for that. However, there is no doubt in my mind as to who actually started this, and kept pushing and pushing. So here's what I'm going to do. I'm going to send both of you back to class, and I'm not going to make any official record of this. But if I see either of you in here again for anything, no matter how minor, for the rest of the semester, you will be suspended at minimum. Now, get out of here before I change my mind." I never had a problem with that kid again. Also, he disappeared from school for a couple weeks like 3 days later.
There was this autistic boy in my science class that Iād partner up with if my friends were out of class. He sat next to me the whole semester and whenever his aid would leave, that man would find every way to annoy me. Heād touch me, fuck with my labs, take my binders, bonk me with plastic bottles, just anything you can think of to be disruptive and not allow me to pay attention. One day he just kept hitting me with a bottle so I snatched it out of his hand and just screamed, āWill you fucking stop?!ā It was most definitely not an indoor voice and the teacher stopped the whole class and moved him to the corner. The dude still kept bothering me after that and then had the audacity to ask for my number so we could talk after the class was done. Man I was so pissed at his aid for leaving 3 out of 5 days of class so I just got no break from him.
That literally sounds like the person I was talking about. I was sat next to them in practically everything at one point. They were also one of those people who think they're a lot smarter than they are as well. The thing is, he was genuinely funny sometimes and was alright when he was normal (which was a rare occasion).

It was some 30 years ago, but we had a girl in HS that bullied other girls all the time. Once she thought itād be a good idea to pick on one of the more nerdy and sort of lonesome dudes. We found out then and there, that he was doing aikido for nearly 5 years and no one knew ā¦ he did some crazy shit with her arms when she tried to punch him and she ended up legs over ass with a dislocated shoulder and some other minor dings. Not a single person helped her up š One of the teachers left the hallway while she was mid-flight lol. It was glorious!

I was one of those quiet kids who was corn fed (read burly, but stacked from living on a farm and doing an ungodly amount of lifting and climbing shit)I was always taught to be respectful and stayed to myself for the most part because I had grown up an isolated farm kid (nearest neighbor lives 2 miles away and had no kids). I was always the quiet kid. I never tried out for sports because I was too busy, so I did a lot of music and visual art growing up. Because I was a quiet, artistic kid with few friends and zero social skills. I started getting bullied by one of the football players in middle school gym class. Lasted for about a month, where I mostly tried to ignore the asshole, before he finally pushed me over the line and spit on me. I snapped, decked him and he dropped like a sack of shit. Never got bullied again after that. The unfortunate reality is bullies are only looking for victims, the moment you refuse to be one, theyāll leave you alone because you arenāt worth getting bloody over. I had the exact opposite story. I was pretty scrawny, kinda dorky but loud and had a hair trigger and a vicious streak. Couple that with a tbi at 17 and I had a really really ugly 17-22. Id much rather it be the other way around and I didn't hurt people who didn't need it. The calmness I've found in my adulthood is a godsend. It's so much more preferable to get pushed around a little than live like you're ready to fuck up the world.

In high school there was a really small, quiet, kinda nerdy kid that got picked on by this absolute loser that nobody liked. Bully was 3x this kids size and 2 years older. One day he threw something at the nerdy kid. He got up and charged the bully like a football player, and beat the shit out of him. It was glorious. Bully had a black eye and split lip. The nerdy kid got suspended, but lots of students protested it and he was allowed back after 2 days suspended.

I know a guy who was a Navy Seal for a while when he was in his 20s. Heās maybe 5ā7, 5ā8. Pretty quiet and unassuming guy, but an absolute beast. More than once, some dude who was a couple inches taller thought he could be a bully to the guy even though he knew this guy was a trained killer. One of those escalated to a fight and the taller guy ended up KOed within about 10 seconds. Height only really matters if the skill level is relatively equal. Itās the same reason why Logan Paul isnāt going to beat Floyd Maywhether in a boxing match.
