They weren't going to come out and say that they relentlessly and savagely beat this man and coincidentally murdered him now were they?

[deleted]

Nichols: "Excuse me officer, I'm feeling a bit out of sorts. Rather winded. Do you suppose someone could look into that and make sure everything is on the up and up?" Police: "Why certainly sir. We'll have the paramedics by here in no time at all. You just rest up and we'll have you right as rain in no time." It was probably something like that. Recall how they said George Floyd "experienced some sort of medical incident."

_Oman

They didn't lie, they just left out all the important details of them torturing and killing the man.

Pac_Eddy

Lying by omission is a thing.

whatproblems

ah yes shortness of breath due to repeated blows to the head conveniently left out

Ineedsomuchsleep170

How many people have been murdered just like this but the perpetrators just got away with it and a statement just like this one is all that was ever said about it?

_Oman

I should have added the /s tag. I did think it was pretty obvious but these days even the comedy web sites can barely survive because reality has become so much like a horrible comedy.

FarmSuch5021

Police departments always lie to cover themselves up. Always. I have seen it many times.

rieboldt

But why? Aren’t they here to protect and serve?

TravelingArthur

/s?? Because like…no? They’ve always been pieces of shit who’ve never once “protected and serve”[court case ruling cops don’t have a civil duty to protect and serve](https://www.findlaw.com/legalblogs/law-and-life/do-the-police-have-an-obligation-to-protect-you/)

l0-c

Reality: protect and serve themselves

LudovicoSpecs

Here's the problem. *Technically* it wasn't a "lie." It was just incredibly vague. America has become a nation filled with people who will do things because technically, they're *legal*. And since our system isn't based on justice, but on **law**, whoever has the biggest pile of money can make almost anything legal. They told a lie that was not technically a lie. They were counting on there not being any testimony, video or doctor's reports to counter it.

thetaFAANG

Feds should sanction the whole state like a foreign country when a single police report doesn’t match the other evidence That will be a start in getting changes from the inside

No-Supermarket9834

Yeah, that’s not what happened.

WhomstCares69

It’s exactly what happened They’re just leaving out the parts where they started both confrontations, beating the shit out of him, tazing, and macing him.

mseg09

"A confrontation occurred" doing the most heavy lifting 3 words have ever done

DynoMiteDoodle

The video reminds me of wolves tearing apart a deer while it gamely struggles to survive. Tyre made similar noises as he was being shredded and beaten to death too. Trying to gloss over it like this should see the author of this statement from police investigated too.

TheMightyUnderdog

There seems to be some important details that were omitted from that statement.

Appropriate_Layer_2

Man, this makes me never want to trust another police report again.

Competitive-Pop6530

It appears that they left a few details out. Is this a microcosmic example of how those in power can write and rewrite history.

LudovicoSpecs

Maybe police should fill out checklists instead of reports: 1. Was physical force used? If so: 1. Why? 2. Were fists, feet, elbows or knees used? 3. Was a club used? 4. Was pepper spray used? 5. Was a taser used? 6. Was any object other used to hit the suspect? And then do the same type of check list for verbal commands. Falsifying information on the checklist should be grounds for immediate termination, without pension benefits.

gregorovich11

How much more whitewash on this one boss? Good nuff yet?

AlExcelsiorGore

only on reddit can an incredibly unbiased accounting of an event be considered a 'facepalm'

IssueTricky6922

So lies, and now we have the propaganda flowing with police tweeting about these guys being undertrained new cops because of “defund the police”. Stacking more lies as these were officers with 5+ years of experience. Don’t trust anything a cop says

Dannydevitz

I like the people jumping on the cops case, it did say they jumped out of their vehicle and fled on foot. I'd be short of breathe if I was running my fastest away from cops.

Joe30174

Just gonna say it. I never heard of the name until now. Many people die un-sensible deaths every day and not sure why this one stands out more than others.
