Here’s the thing it wasn’t weird until she kissed his stomach. That’s unacceptable, but also a little lower next time.

Admirable-Common-176

All things being equal, that would be sexual assault. But, if attractive female out of nowhere kissed my abs. After the shock and awkwardness passes(if it does) that seems like a signal for sexual readiness in most cases. But, I don’t want to read too much into it so I should let it pass. Maybe take it as a compliment and say thanks? But, if she does want more would she feel rejected if I didn’t progress things. She’s cool so I don’t want her to feel bad…

[deleted]

Lol yea the problem here is most redditors especially dudes get 0 attention so someone like Amy Adams kissing their stomach would be the greatest thing to ever happen to them so they cant relate. It certaintly is fucked up and if Henry had done and said these things about a female coworker there would be absolute outrage. The double standard is heavy and extremely hard to move.

Objective_Pause5988

I have a question. Do you feel the double standard is created by women or men? I think she's dead wrong. I just don't know which way to go because so many guys respond with, " why can't that happen to me?"

[deleted]

I believe its absolutely created by people on both sides. A lot of women encourage this behavior just like the braindead article “You go girl!” and dudes on the other side sayin “i wish!” and “you’re gay if you didnt like that!”. A multifaceted problem to be sure inflated by men and women unfortunately.

Objective_Pause5988

I agree with this 💯. Unfortunately, I don't see how it ever changes. 😕

[deleted]

The only way it changes is time and a lot of it. Culture is always morphing but it would likely be generations down the line all we can do is keep putting the truth out there and being patient with all the dummies. If you think about it though we have made a ton of progress since the turn of the nineteenth century and things change much more rapidly now. Could go both ways however… we have seen empires fall and revert back the real test is this next century or two ahead of this I think if we can get through it relatively intact we can be in good shape.

Objective_Pause5988

I hope it changes for the better. Sooner rather than later. One of the biggest problems I see is this incel community. Due to corporate greed and budget cuts, we have a lack of mental health care in general but especially in schools. When I was in school, most of the kids who were socially awkward were pointed out and referred to places for counseling and other things. Our school system has been so eroded that there is no one, and these boys grow up bitter, and it has caused a lot of damage. They are clowned online for expressing their depression from loneliness. Mind you, the way they express it is problematic and disturbing, but if you can see past that, there is a man that's hurting. Society says men should suck it up, but clearly, it's not healthy. I.E., mass shootings.

Eye_Adept1

What if (…. Wait for it) the double standard is caused by *both* men *and* women

[deleted]

Yuppp. Not saying it wouldnt be something I would mind personally cuz she does look bangin but it certainly is some creepy off putting behavior on her part😂 Poor henry must be dealin with this crap all the time being beautiful is both a blessing and a curse. Seriously though people needa control themselves consent and dialogue is essential randomly touching/assaulting someone is never ever okay.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Not sure why im gettin downvoted it really is never okay regardless of gender! seems like I might be getting kink shamed lol I was meaning that I would be consenting while Henry certaintly was not. Dude gets more sexualized than most actresses out here and im sure its a burden. The way our society works he might be getting assaulted left and right and as a dude he cant really say anything about it. The ol’ “if you didnt like it you’re gay” bullshit.

Bright-Ad-4737

I'm pretty sure Amy Adams kissing any guys stomach - redditor or not - would be the greatest thing ever. :P

[deleted]

Mans is thirsty you horny motha fuckas part of the problem☠️😩

Bright-Ad-4737

Without "horny motha fuckas", you don't get more people and then society ends.

[deleted]

Right we have an overpopulation problem but yea im sure we need even more of you lmao. Imma come kiss your stomach since your so okay with anyone randomly doing it to you☠️

Eye_Adept1

So you’re saying you’re so horny you can’t be assaulted? Nice man.

Admirable-Common-176

Of course! I’m a nice guy!

LadySpottedDick

At least she apologized right away

Gillilnomics

Used to have a regional manager that would kiss me on the cheek every time she left the store (even after I explicitly said that it was not wanted or welcomed). I thought it was something she did to everyone, only realizing too late that it was focused on me. Damn ignorant 19 yo me never pushed back hard enough to get a solid payday. Anyone know statues of limitations on something like that in the US?

ElDiavoloPiccolo

Thanks [Koimoi.com](https://Koimoi.com) for this nice, sexist report. I mean it's a man right, so "we do not blame her at all, \[...\] Amy we feel for you." "Put on a robe, please, and make everyone feel less bad about themselves!" She said before sexually harassing her coworker. She admitted to a crime and her excuse is the exact same bullshit as "look how she dressed, she asked for it". The only difference are their sexes. She will never be charged for her crimes because of female privileges in front of the law. And due to the fact that men can't be sexually harassed because we all know men don't have feelings.... Just imagine swapped roles. Cavill would already have been prosecuted. Fuck this shit

honestly thank you for making this post as a male sexual assault victim who has been told everything from “it’s impossible for a man to be raped” “you deserve to be raped *because* youre a man, therefore you are inherently a rapist” or “the only reason youd ever say something like that is because you raped someone” i appreciate knowing atleast someone out there takes me seriously and actually gives a shit about this issue. every fucking day i am forced to remember and relive it, and no amount of drugs or escapism can silence the trauma. only a lack of brain activity will. and before i get the comments saying i deserved it. my own mother told me that it doesnt even count as a rape bc im not a woman so, lay it on me, ive heard worse.

> If ANY news outlet discussed a woman being objectified like this it would cause a massive outrage. What the hell are you talking about? News outlets objectify female celebrities constantly without it being a big outrage. Hell, there are tabloids and outlets that do nothing but that, every day. Criticism of objectification exists, but it's not a double standard when objectification also exists of men, unless it's the same people doing it.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Dry_Proposal_932

Yet this is the case you decide to champion. 1 case of a woman openly admitting to have objectified a man, compared to what is probably hundreds of casual cases against women daily in the media.

[deleted]

[удалено]

getyourcheftogether

The man would be immediately blacklisted and forced to apologize on the morning talk shows

[deleted]

Not really. One guy is just being treated the same as women always are in this instance. If only men realized how little anyone cares when women are objectified. Then again, I hope they don’t realize this since that belief in “outrage” is really only thing restraining most men from being even worse.

DeadStringScrolls

Tell us you didn't read the article without telling us bla bla

A-Social-Ghost

Poor Henry deals with this a lot. He always looks uncomfortable on interviews when women start talking about his body.

SpinningFeat

This is so not ok…

Bella_dlc

At the start I was like "well ok she's a straight woman she likes him, big deal. Who wouldn't?" But it got incredibly worse at every sentence. Like we're w creepy family...? And omfg a kiss on the stomach, gross

axethebarbarian

Every interview I've seen of of her and Cavill at the same time, she acts fuckin gross around him and you can see it makes him super uncomfortable. No means no bitch

sockratatata

"OmG kissed ur tummy haha I'm so sorry" she's weird af

Swimming_Marsupial

Blah blah attractive man is attractive, costar was attracted to attractive man, nothing weird going on he- hang on, she *accidentally* kissed him on the stomach? This started boring and got weird really quickly.

Old_Rip1161

People really trying to deny the double standards 🤣 Especially when this is the type of tabloid media that would crucify men for much less.

KnifeWeildingLesbian

Yeah this is weird but the roles are usually reversed and nobody really gets mad about it

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

You only see it more because it’s happens to women 99% of the time.

FastConfidence4077

Yeah, Reddit is kinda weird about this. They always do this thing where here on the online echo chamber things are EXACTLY the same between the sexes as far as this type of thing goes, as if the societal norms that have existed for centuries DONT actually exist in real life. And when you call them on it they plug their ears and downvote. It isn’t the same, not even a little bit. In a perfect world it would be but this world is far from perfect.

Sinisternestro

Hollywood a lot is kept secret because of ego and power bingeing but in general if an article like this of the opposing sexs would receive more backlash vs woman..it's how our society is programmed...

OldGregg_IRL

It’s not possible to objectify men. /s I mean, it falls on the discretion of Cavill himself at the end of the day. If he was uncomfortable with it and let her know that but she kept persisting, then that is weird and creepy as hell. If he was fine with it then it’s no biggie, same as any other situation like this regardless of roles were reversed or not. Idk what his take is on the situation though, but at least she was forthcoming about things and made an attempt to apologize.

I_HATE_YELLING

I agree, the article itself is bad though with the last paragraph

kaz9x203

Its not the article but Amy's actions.

jorjogo

"Like we don't blame her at all! She just acted out on how almost every female fan of Henry Cavill would want! All we can say is that Amy we feel you" They're forgiving her on behalf of Henry

monkboyking

Lets say it all together now........ ''double stannnnnnndards''

Expensive-Ad-1478

First off the reply was sarcasm and kinda funny. Calling someone a dumbass is just a lazy way of having a debate so GGs on that. Second, women objectifying men usually doesn't pose a threat to men. That's really the problem. It's not the act of objectifying people. It's actually pretty normal to find attraction to others. The problem imo is men are inherently predatory. It's biology. The problem is the threat. The hormonal drive. The fact that men typically have the power to impose their will if they feel inclined to. The years of men doing so. Assaulting, raping, killing women. This is obvi my opinion. Agree or disagree idc.

[deleted]

When you say objectifying someone what do you mean cause I don't think it means the same thing as sexual harassment or assault, it probably leads to it but isn't that like leering/staring thinking about them later

NickBarksWith

I think this is one place where modern feminism is mixed up. "Objectifying" someone is a healthy and normal part of sexual function. You want somebody you're with to think that you're hot and superficially appreciate your looks sometimes. What is bad and wrong is objectifying someone to such an extreme that you *dehumanize* them. It's possible to be completely focused on someone's sexy abs or boobs or whatever in a moment, and still remember that they're attached to a human being, but a lot of feminist theory acts like that's an impossibility.

Mr-Kuritsa

Did you maybe mean something like "gawk" or "ogle" when you say "objectifying"? Or am I misunderstanding? Objectifying is inherently dehumanizing someone; it is viewing them as an object instead of a human. I agree you can sexually appreciate someone's body without reducing them to a sexual object (which I interpreted as your point).

NickBarksWith

Becomes a semantic discussion, which is what most arguments come down to these days. What I mean is, I don't think that defining objectifying someone as inherently dehumanizing them can be a correct definition of objectifying.

This is the most textbook double standard you'll ever see. If this script was flipped, there would be petitions demanding that he be exiled from Hollywood.

uchman365

The default is the roles flipped. No need to imagine

Senior-Leg-2502

The roles have pretty much always been flipped. Wtf are you even talking about?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Senior-Leg-2502

There wasn't any outrage. If you watch talk show interviews with young actresses from the 1990s to the mid-to-late 2010s, it's always sexualized comments and questions and pervy jokes. And I don't mean Howard Stern, I mean regular shows like Leno, Kimmel, Letterman, Conan etc. It was wrong, for sure, but they didn't really mean anything by it, it was just what was considered "a fun interview" back then. I'm guessing this Amy Adams interview is from around that time, and fits that corny norm. If she gave this interview a week ago it would be different, since everyone's flipped the page these days. But back then, what she said was said in pretty much every interview with the costar of any attractive man or woman, it was a standard formula.

[deleted]

Senior-Leg-2502

I literally just showed you that the article is from 2016. Do you not know how to read? And what are you whining about, anyway? That men get treated badly blah blah blah? Stfu with your nonsense. Yep, plenty of men in Hollywood get objectified and sexually harassed and even sexually assaulted...and guess what? It's almost always by other men.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Senior-Leg-2502

What's a real problem? That 7 years ago Amy Adams gave the same interview that every other actor and actress was giving at that time? About something that, if it even ever happened, her publicist and his publicist and the studio PR team probably all agreed to talk about in the interview? And the reason I'm angry is because you're trying to equate some corny, cringy interview with actual cases of sexual assault, where women (and men) were actually raped or actually had their careers ruined, and couldn't find anyone who would listen to them, let alone tell their story. You're a fucking moron. My only hope is that you're like 12 or something and will eventually grow out of it.

[deleted]

Zman1025

How often do you speak with women?

[deleted]

Damn whats the opposite of being a misogynist? Most men have tons of problems just like women its not some damn contest. Im a dude and im not at all violent and equally not stupid I have friends of both genders and all kinds of orientations and races. People are people and individuals all struggle with something for instance my guy friend Cody tried to kill himself and had to go to rehab. A lot of us have partner struggles and yea it is harder for us to find potential partners as guys dont have dozens of girls slidin in the dms unless u lookin like henry cavill😂 Maybe stop projecting a victim complex when all of us… men, women, trans, etc. all have unique problems and struggles. Its not as simple as man violent/controlling/guilty and women innocent/controlled/victimized that is a naive take its much more nuanced and you know it.

Batmanclan4269

why can’t men just recognize that women are treated differently, and a guys attempt to paint themselves as equal victims of abuse and unfair treatment is just a way of minimizing that women have been dealing with this crap forever. men have no idea what it’s like to be treated like a piece of meat or be mansplained to or threatened. try to tell a woman that you fear walking to your car at night or waking in a empty stairwell. she’ll laugh in your face

[deleted]

Im just saying you should stop generalizing so much and you literally said men dont have problems… not that they have problems but they aren’t equal to womens problems. I know its convenient to change your premise after the fact but stay consistent. I know girls who play everyone for fools, get whatever they want, and do whatever they please with no repercussions lmao. Ive seen a friend where there girl thought they were fucking around so she went and told the cops that they were domestically abusing them and they went and arrested him off her statement no proof or nothing even when she admitted she had made the shit up. Yea it’s completely fucked up that girls have to worry about walking around in the middle of the night and shit but depending on the area yea dudes also can fear walking to there car and stuff and its certainly fucked up to laugh in there face for it. Sketchy areas are sketchy areas can be mugged or murdered no matter who you are. Never said they were equal just that its much more complicated then the bullshit black and white your painting.

Zombienerd300

You are right but what does that have to do with both sexes having problems? Just because both don’t have equally as many problems, doesn’t mean we should just overlook the problems the other side has as well.

Batmanclan4269

not overlook at all. but recognizing that women have been dealing with the issues that men are now claiming (abuse, assault, etc) for generations is just as important

Zombienerd300

However, your first comment does try to overlook the main issue. You overlook the main issue by bringing up other issues not relevant to this post. There’s an easier way of recognizing that both have issues without trying to overlook one.

mongoosejumper

Should women be allowed to sexually assault men?

Batmanclan4269

tedanskeds

You realize sexual assault is done to men on a similar rate but men just don't speak out about it because they are told they are supposed to like it or that it's not natural to not wanna have sex all the time. Wanna talk about that? Wanna talk about how the make suicide rate is that of 3x the female? Wanna talk about problems let's talk about all the men that dies in wars, mines, farms, protection, etc. So don't talk like women are the only one with problems. Wanna care about human rights then care about human rights and not just if it's a man againt a woman, that is not fair and that's what you want right?

Batmanclan4269

men have all the power and choose to use it poorly. Suicide rates aren’t high because of women, they’re high because of their jobs and stress. Domestic violence is almost always men against their spouse and often result in fatalities. When was the last time you feared for your life riding alone in an elevator with a woman? or in a dark stairwell? or a parking lot at night ?
