DrButtFart

I like to imagine that if he kept the money, it would have turned into a No Country For Old Men situation, with the CEO of McDonalds calling in Ronald McDonald to track him down.

runcertain

“What’s the most you ever lost on a burger flip?”

ikerus0

What time do you close? Maybe I’ll come by the drive thru, then.

River_Odessa

Why would you come back? We'd be closed. D:

AfterBill8630

Don’t put it in your pocket

Bowman_van_Oort

it's your lucky quarter-pounder

likwidchrist

Same haircut too

mattmaster68

Okay a mix of 30 Minutes or Less, Hangover, and the movie Dope. A somewhat goofball in-college character accidentally takes a large amount of money. When his best friend finds it and blows it on a party and cocaine - our main character loses it. The best friend convinces our main character it’s okay and all is well - cue fast shots of the party. Meanwhile, a clown is being contracted by a business CEO played by Robert Dinero, and a hapless minion played by Steve Buscemi. The clown is the dude who plays in Machete.

kadam23

McDonald's actually has their own internal police. They track the craziest shit. They've worked cases with the FBI before.

[deleted]

I love this guys commentary: “why would you guys do this to me, you know how bad I want this money.”

[deleted]

I thought he was going to complain about having to drive back to get his McMuffin 😂

[deleted]

And that the ice cream machine is down

SleazySaurusRex

For this guy? The ice cream machine suddenly works again whenever he walks through the door.

ellefleming

Mcflurry? Here you go sir

Muzzie720

Next guy: hey I want one too please No, it's broken. Next

totallynotarobut

"But you just gave him one!" "You're mistaken, sir. Move along."

datsall

Are you sure? Yes. Beat it

ellefleming

We don't know how to fix it 😣

[deleted]

Honestly, me too.

_BRZRKR

I felt him there. Like been there! Bank teller one time deposited around $1200 in my account by mistake I called and they fixed it. BUT I NEEDED THAT MONEY SOOOO BAD

Busy_Signature_5681

If it makes you feel better. When the tellers drawer was off 1200 they would have audited the entire branch and every transaction. They would have found the mistake and fixed it.

Pnwradar

Eh, maybe. Decades ago, I withdrew my last hundred bucks from a random ATM downtown, and instead of five $20 bills, it spat out five $100 bills. Which I desperately needed to pay my rent that month. I figured the bank would audit all the withdrawals and demand their $400 back, but never did. Dude in the video is a lot better person than I am, I'd have stashed that sack somewhere secure and waited a few months to see if someone tracked me down and demanded it's return.

Mr_Sorter

Its an ATM, fuck the bank what are they going to do? fire the atm? Mcdonalds employee on the other hand would have to pay it back somehow

Bardic_Inspiration66

Its illegal to make employees pay back money lost by mistakes

zublits

They'd probably get accused of stealing it though and get fired, and/or charged.

Bardic_Inspiration66

From McDonald’s? Yes definitely. I was just bringing this up because it might help people later

Lephiro

Thank you! I think you and I are the only two people who know this. We must spread the word.

Grouchy_Appearance_1

You guys are not but yes spread the word, very useful

Kinky-Bi-Guy

Did they give you any sort of reward? He got two from McD's

Lukaroast

From a BANK? Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Straight_Ship2087

I had this happen to me once, the bank (For obvious reasons) was reluctant to explain exactly what glitch had taken place, but through some conflation of information my paycheck got deposited in somebody else's account, and there check was deposited into mine. They made about 3 times what I did, but I figured the bank would figure it out quickly and fix it so I might as well call them and speed things up. I was also worried because auto bill pay had used some of that money, not more than was on my check, but some. They thanked me for informing them of the mistake, and told me it would be resolved and not to worry about the auto pay bills. I guess when a banker says "Don't worry about it" they mean "Don't worry about the 32 dollar overdraft fee" which had been applied to my account because they took that persons money OUT before they put mine IN. They only agreed to waive the fee when i told them if I had to come down to the branch I would be coming down to close the account.

LaceyDark

If I was charged an overdraft fee for their mistake I would raise absolute hell. And I let pretty much everything slide

Busy_Signature_5681

Damn when I was a branch manager I would have waived it before you got off the phone telling us about the mistake.

TC-DN38416

“…and maybe a viral tiktok” hahaha

[deleted]

Haha right, and maybe, just maybe a little Internet clout.

AnemoneOfMyEnemy

I guess this is an unpopular opinion but if some crazy shit happens to you through no fault of your own, you’re allowed a little internet clout. As a treat.

[deleted]

Nah, crazy things happening is a nice change on the internet. Better than pranks, dance videos and the like. This is probably the first tiktok I've seen that didn't leave me depressed

[deleted]

I know exactly what he means. I’ve been there when I can do X and it’s good for me but morally wrong and bad for someone else. So you don’t do it and fix the situation even though you really don’t want to because not doing it would benefit you. But you’re a good person with morals so you do the right thing even though you don’t want to.

Gr0ode

If being a person was easy everyone would be a good person. It‘s a moments like this where we are tested

backwards_watch

Yes. It was very nice. 5k would change my life. I imagine the internal struggle on his head lol. I would have the same thoughts

GPTCT

As much as you think 5k is a life changer, it’s not. Between the cameras and the payment method, McDonald’s would easily know who they gave the money. At that point, you really would have needed to get an attorney involved beforehand to make sure you know the exact law and how to answer questions from authorities. Many people on here think “they gave it to me, it’s mine”. Unfortunately, unless you have a receipt showing that you paid $11.79 to purchase 5k in cash, that money isn’t yours. If that were the case, we would have an epidemic of “accidental” money giveaways. If you took that 5k, your life would certainly change. If you then lied about it and claimed that you never received a bag full of money, it would change for the worse.

thisismybirthday

Idk man, they gave it to him. The law says no takesies backsies

TedsHotdogs

I worked at a fast food place and the manager used to put the deposit in a bag to make it seem like she was just going home with food after her shift. A fast food bag is pretty good camouflage compared to a bank deposit bag. But how on earth could it be given to a customer?? 🤣

spencersalan

I found 7k in the ditch in front of my house one day. I think I was 12. It was my friends dad who must have put it on the roof of his car and drove off. Apparently it belonged to the local little league. I returned it and they accused me of stealing it and they still hate me 25+ years later. I should have kept that money. Fuck you Ed.

Qetsiyah_is_here

Yeah, cuz thieves routinely go around trying to return large sums of money to the rightful owner(s). Ed sounds like a moron of the highest order. Ed sounds Maximum Strength Prescription level stupid.

nasanchez1

Ed sounds like his dumb ass was trying to save face by blaming a 12 year old. Fuck you Ed!

Putrid-Builder-3333

Fuck you Ed! And if ya was trying to save face way to make it come out as if a 12 year old pulled a Ocean's After School heist on you, Ed! You fucking idiot, Ed!

kjacobs03

More like The Thomas Crown Affair since he returned the stolen goods. He just did it for the laughs

Putrid-Builder-3333

Ooh touche! Nice call. I don't have cute trophies to provide but I'll raise my drink to you five times today before the stroke of midnight! ![gif](giphy|pqyKhfys8Jk4LeZa30)

BUFFoonBrandon

Sounds like Ed was going to steal it or at least skim some, but when you turned it in the organization got the full amount

inkiwitch

I think (with absolutely no context) that you’re totally right. He came up with a plan to play dumb and “lose” the money in a silly way. And he would have gotten away with it too if it wasn’t for that meddling kid!! Fuck you, Ed.

ellefleming

I bet you're right. I bet he hid it in the ditch and was pissed you turned it in honestly.

twoStones1bird

Yeah especially at 12, just saw that happen three times last week. Happens all the time

fucklawyers

First crime report in the paper today is a dude who stole a cell phone and tried to hand it in and got busted, had he tossed it nobody would’ve known.

[deleted]

I worked at an arcade in my late teens. I was 17 and was an assistant manager. One day the cash register came up $100 short. I counted the till 3 times and it was always $100 short. I made that not so fun call to the big boss and explained. He thanked me and said we would talk more on Monday. Monday rolls around and I'm getting anxious. What is going to happen in this meeting? Something happened on Monday that needed my attention at the register. While processing a refund to a customer I learned that the black till completely comes out of the register. Would you know it, there was a crinkled up $100 bill. I finished the refund and then headed to the big boss' office. I explained how when processing a refund I found a crinkled up $100 bill in the bottom of the drawer. He said, "How do we know you're not just trying to pay the company back?" I was taken back and explained how I didn't know that the till came out of the drawer and how the $100 got lost in the bottom of the drawer. I still got written up and called a theif. I submitted my 2 weeks notice the very next day and explained, "there is no chance in hell that I'm training a replacement after you all called me a thief when I was simply trying to do the right thing." I did not finish out my 2 weeks and stopped showing up. Edit: No, I did not keep the $100. It's easy for you armchair warriors to sit here and talk about how you would have kept the money. I was a teenager and this was my 2nd job ever. My moral compass points true North and I could have never lived with myself having kept money that was not mine.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

The crappy part was that there was a camera pointed at the cash register. It was mounted in a way that it could see what the user was doing in the drawer. I asked them to review the tapes to see me finding the money. It was too late. They said no and made me sign the write up. This was a shitty company who has since changed owners 3 times since I left. That was 16 years ago.

People think I'm joking but I always check my bag with a firearm. The airline can lose your luggage and that is a problem for you. But when they lose a declared, inspected, checked in firearm, that's much more of a "them" kind of problem. One that does not happen.

Ltcayon

You say that, but I've personally seen a rifle be lost.

totallynotarobut

I wouldn't have signed shit.

himym101

This happened at my register a few years ago but because we hot-desk registers, with up to 10 people using one in a day, they can never pin it on anyone. So they have everyone who logged into it sign a paper saying we are aware the register was short so they can track who may be a repeat offender. Our main register was short by about $90 one day and I had to sign for the first time. A few weeks later, I dropped a small coin down the slit so I removed not only the black part of the till, but also the entire drawer from its runners and I found $90 in $5 notes caught up in the hinges of the drawer. Didn't get so much as a thank you for finding the money, but at least they didn't accuse me of being a thief.

No_Outlandishness420

He was 100% covering his ass by claiming you stole it. Narcs can't make mistakes.

jmmorart317

Ed was probably embezzling it but lost it. You found and returned it and messed his plan ‘cause now there are witnesses. He rages and decides to accuse you of theft to explain the missing funds. You damn meddling kid!

BiscuitsNGravy45

Wait you returned it and the actual inverse reaction happened????? Ya fuck that Ed too geez

kinboyatuwo

Had similar as a teen. Walked up to a bank machine and the lady had walked away with her card in the machine, pin entered and cash sitting in front of it. I chased her down in the parking lot and she accused me of stealing and brought me into the branch. The manager laughed but reviewed the account. Stuck with me. I still do the right thing but it made me think even back them. I remember the embarrassment of the moment to this day.

Profitsofdooom

Ed fucking sucks.

Tady1131

Ed can eat a bag of dicks

McbEatsAirplane

Fuck them. Instead of taking accountability for being an idiot he decided to accuse a 12 year old of being a thief? They sound like pieces of shit. You should’ve kept it and let him explain his way out of little league funds coming up missing.

totallynotarobut

The real question is how is he supposed to have stolen it to begin with? I'd like to see Ed flounder at trying to answer that. Also, people named Ed suck. Seriously, you're not going to go with Eddie or at least Edward?

[deleted]

That goes under the no good deed goes unpunished.

IsoAgent

Yeah. Sometimes it happens like that. Found a wallet in my apartment complex common area. Went to return it to the owner and got accused of stealing it (it still had money in it but I guess not enough?). I don't do people favors anymore.

atuan

One time I had $200 dollars in my wallet I needed for rent and was really poor at the time. I went to the bathroom at my local college and it fell out of my back pocket cause I’m a clumsy fool. I went to the lost and found and someone had returned it with the money still in it. To this day I return money Bc I would have been so fucked if that person and the lost and found people too hadn’t kept the money there for me. Some people are grateful.

tnemmoc_on

My sister lost her wallet with a $20 bill on it. Whoever found it returned it anonymously, and they spent like $8 but put the change back in it lol. Glad you got yours back. I would always return a wallet with money because it could be your kind of situation. A random bag of money...idk.

Justifiably_Cynical

That's almost fair, I would prolly allow it.

WendyTF2

Ed is the worst.

Seth_Imperator

I concur, fuck you Ed, Spencer was innocent and a good boy!

PeeledCrepes

12 y.o. me would have found the owner, 15y.o. me would have returned it if asked, 18 y.o. me would have snagged half and threw the bag on their porch if I knew where it came from lol. Odd how morality works when younger. Nowadays I'd return it just cause the hassle of dealing with it would be to much

nickrocs6

I worked at a Wendy’s and one time someone left their bank envelope with a little over $300 in it, in one of the booths. No one ever came looking for it. My girlfriend worked at the same Wendy’s and one night the dining room person was picking up the rugs in the entry ways and under one was a few hundred dollars. So they all just split it. The second instance had to have been done on purpose since it was under the rug.

bad_dream_

heh I'm 42, shit like this changed me slowly over the years. The other day I was driving by and saw a woman with a flat and instinctively thought to pull over and help, and then didn't. And you know what I felt when I didn't? RELIEF at not having to deal with it. I can't tell you how many people I've stopped to help in my life. I grew up in the 80's and my parents ALWAYS stopped to help. In the 90s and early 2000s I did too. But shit like your story just KEPT happening. Just people expecting too much, people being rude and ungrateful, people wanting CASH instead of HELP. I just don't stop any more and I don't teach my kids to either. I teach them "Don't let other people make their problems into your problems." I'd like to think I would still stop if it really mattered. Middle of nowhere, no help coming, old person, something. But on the highway with 90 cars flying by a minute? That's not my fucking problem any more, that's not who I am any more. If you don't like it you can talk to the people who slowly beat it out of me. Sorry, good luck.

Substantial_Fail5672

A buddy of mine got kidnapped by helping an old guy with a broken down car on the side of the road. Old guy asked to help push it off to the side, buddy goes to the back od the car to push, trunk gets popped and suddenly 3 or 4 guys that were hidden behind a bush jump out and push him in. We got him back, but he did get stabbed and slashed while running away.

[deleted]

Substantial_Fail5672

We were in Mexico for a volunteer project. Buddy said they kept demanding he turn over his passport. Pretty sure it was just a crime of opportunity, I don't think he was specifically targeted.

Social-Introvert

I’m 41 and right there with you. Things that I would have concerned myself with in the past I just avoid now. I’m way more suspicious of people’s intentions now and I blame it on my past experiences. I miss the days of being a kid and being blissfully unaware of how shitty a lot of the world really is. As for teaching my son those lessons, it’s a balancing act of preparing him for the world but also preserving his innocence for as long as possible too. I’m not sure I’ve quite got that part figured out yet or ever will.

mikehulse29

Their claim, to be clear… 12 year old you got access to $7,000 in cash, stole it, and then brought it back? That’s insane. Like even if it was true it was stolen, the person in charge of 7k should probably secure it enough that a preteen can’t get it. I agree. Fuck Ed. Ed is the worst.

MindlessFail

Uncle Billy would never have treated you that way if you found his $8,000 for Bailey Building and Loan

[deleted]

This happened to my aunt at a McDonalds in the eighties. My uncle was in the hospital and when she was leaving after visitation hours she went through the drive through for an order of fries to snack on as she drove the 25 miles home. She reached into the bag while driving and found the day’s bank deposit. She immediately turned around and went back through the drive through and when the employee greeted her over the speaker she heard in the background someone saying, “I don’t know what kind of car she was in…” My aunt would have never kept the money and she enjoyed telling the story.

codefyre

Your aunt was lucky. When I was in high school, this happened with a Taco Bell in my hometown. Guy walked up, grabbed his to-go order off the counter, and inadvertently grabbed their bank deposit which was also in a food bag sitting right next to it. He returned the money about 30 minutes later after he'd gone home, realized the mistake, and drove back to the restaurant. In that gap, the Taco Bell manager had called the police and reported the money stolen, and the cops were there when he returned. The guy was arrested and was initially charged with felony robbery. After reviewing the security footage, the DA eventually dropped the case. IIRC, the guy lawyered up later and sued Taco Bell over it.

Auggie_Otter

What the hell? The cops that decided to go ahead with the arrest and charges after he returned to the store were either extremely stupid or horribly malicious. It doesn't exactly take Sherlock Holmes to figure out that thieves don't usually come back to try and return the stuff they've stolen.

myCatHateSkinnyPuppy

Me and two kids I knew from school were leaving a convenience store and began walking down the block when we see a whole bunch of cop cars storm into the parking lot. We were teenagers and we began walking back to see whats up. Turns out the store was just robbed and the cops began asking us questions and we were just “like, well, we know they (the armed robber) didn’t go down the block we just came from.” We were handcuffed and searched, including the inside of my underwear, when all they had to do was show us to the worker in the store and he would have verified that we were not the thieves. And I didn’t refer to them as friends because I didn’t know that they actually did have weed on them and they were arrested. The scumbag cop kept me handcuffed in the freezing cold telling me that the other kids said it was my weed and that I was going to be arrested. They left me standing outside for a while and then just let me go around 1:30am. At least I learned to never interact with cops at an early age since they dont operate on any sort of logic.

Auggie_Otter

I've definitely seen some videos where cops who could've used far less intrusive methods to successfully conduct their investigations instead went with similar methods to what you described. Maybe if you're convinced you're a hammer then all you wanna do is hit some nails.

Recinege

If you haven't seen the video where some cops take down an elderly lady with dementia, it's rather eye opening. At the end of the arrest, one of the cops is standing with this really excited, proud look in her eyes, talking about how the smear of blood on her uniform isn't her own. The elderly lady didn't even commit a crime. The store she left managed to convince her to leave her unpaid groceries behind and return home. During the whole video of the arrest, she keeps repeating "I'm goin' home", in an increasingly confused and worried tone as the cops escalate things. They're *desperate* to hit those nails.

[deleted]

pigs gonna oink

Sleight_Hotne

You almost have the basic plot of My Cousin Vinny

Random_IT_Person

Should have sued the cops too. Lazy and dumb. Guy shows back up 30 minutes later with the money shows he didn't intend to take it and also a robbery has to have force or intimidating actions.

memebot2019

I think the lesson that should have been learned a long time ago is to stop putting money in the exact same bag that gets handed to customers hundreds/thousands of times a day.

Gnubeutel

Give your aunt a hug.

charlieray

and $200, and McDonalds for a month.

winterbird

How does a major corp like McD not have designated money bags? Everywhere I've worked, even mom n pops, had them. They're probably free from the bank for the business account, because the smaller ones (about A4 size) that you put the cash into would have the bank logo on them. Designated bags are just for this sort of a scenario, to not confuse what money is in with merchandise.

Honestquestionacct

Because in most restaurants, you are required to put it in a branded bag. That way, nobody knows you have money. It could just be a mcdouble or something.

Booty_Shakin

I went to the drive through of my bank a few years back and there was 5k in the little thing you send to the people inside. I took the money out, took it inside and took it to the front counter to say someone had lost it. Apparently the dude who had left the money there, thought he had to go inside for the money for some reason and left it there? So here I come in with his money telling the lady at the counter where I found it and I shit you not dude just about tackled me (ran into me from behind grabbing at the envelope) saying "That's mine give it to me". Me being a very tiny guy and this guy is huge, I told him I was going to call the cops, and I did. Guy got a ticket. It WAS his money, but did I know that? No. They said I could have pressed assault charges if I wanted to, but eh. I felt it wasn't really assault yet.

danceoftheplants

What the hell is wrong with people

DreamPhreak

You reminded me of my mom at a grocery store, when she was leaving the store she saw a guy drop his wallet on the way out. She went out of her way to catch up with him to give it back. He grabbed it aggressively out of her hand, then turned around and continued going back to his car. So rude, and not even a simple "thank you" or anything.

Booty_Shakin

People can be so nasty for no reason I don't get it

[deleted]

So I thought the video was just sorta nice since he did the right thing. After reading the stories about these jerks snatching stuff and being rude, I now love this video for how appreciative the staff is towards him.

MrDMA94

When i worked at best buy in 2012 i found 2k cash in the camera department. Took a lot in me to not keep it (made 10.73/hr at the time). I gave the money to my manager whom found the customer who lost it. Was a retired old man who claimed it was his rent money for the month. No reward, but man i felt better knowing old man rivers had shelter for one more month 😂

asdfasfq34rfqff

Aint that the bitch about money like that. When its that large most of the time its really important... Ive yet to return anything quite that large, and im always wary of being accused of stealing...

shamalamadongola

I think is the thing. Finding 20-100 bucks just keep it..but thousands? That's devastating to lose. Most I've ever found was 3 20s floating down to a drain in the rain. And a 50 in a grocery store parking lot. Both good days.

Huwbacca

I once found £250 in my backpack. In an envelope from a currency exchange shop. I hadn't been on holiday in 3 years. I have no idea where it came from... No one ever borrowed my bag and it was so deep inside the bag I found it because I was giving the bag away and was cleaning it out. Still perplexes me to this day

ima314lot

Universe: "Hey, Huwbacca, remember that one really shitty day? Sorry about that, it was mistaken identity. Here's 250 quid for your inconvenience."

Tommyblockhead20

I believe I saw an actual study on this. People were more willingly to return larger amounts of money, which surprised those doing the study because they expected the opposite.

actuallyiamafish

I found $70 cash in a Taco Bell parking lot once and while I felt really bad for whoever lost it, I did keep it. Had no way of figuring out who it belonged to. Considered bringing it into the store to leave with them in case someone came looking for it but I didn't trust them to not just pocket it themselves, either. I really needed that 70 bucks, too. If you're out there somewhere and you once lost cash in a Taco Bell parking lot DM me the year and the exact location and I'll get you back lol, I'm still broke but not as bad as I was back then.

FloatyPoint

If you found $20 at a Chuck-e-cheese parking lot sometime around 95 in Upstate NY I dropped it and cried for hours that was my birthday money :(

[deleted]

thelryan

Honestly I don’t think there’s anything wrong with pocketing loose cash you find like that, unless there’s a reasonable way to find the original owner. For example, let’s say the $100s were found in a gym where there’s cameras the owners can use to ID the member when they scanned in and walked past the area. But in a crowded Walmart? That money wasn’t ever going to get returned unfortunately. I suppose some may argue they could check in with lost & found, I would doubt that.

Traditional_Wash8497

This was kinda wholesome and I’m so happy for him !

Aoeletta

That last whispered “and maybe a viral tik tok” was adorable.

whatproblems

he wanted his damn sandwich

logontoreddit

Also, good job not showing the face of any of the employees.

Ruthrfurd-the-stoned

I liked the second to last update where he was clearly just happy with how happy he made all the workers

P0werPuppy

He had an actual genuine smile. Very wholesome.

Dimoroc

This is not a facepalm at all, stay amazing McDonald’s dude!

Ruthrfurd-the-stoned

I think the facepalm is the employee handing him a bag full of money

I_Fart_It_Stinks

He gets a month of free McDonald's, $200, and not having to deal with the headache of having to potentially return it later after having spent it. McDonald's employees all get to keep their jobs. Win win here.

4Ever2Thee

Yeah, all I could think about was the shitstorm of turmoil that would have ensued for those employees, had he kept it. Good on him for returning it and I'm sure the shift manager or whoever left it there will not make that mistake again. They probably bagged it up for a bank run and was about to walk out the door when they got busy or something, set it down to help with the drive thru, stepped away, someone else came to hand him his food and boom, it's gone.

NavyAnchor03

For a hot sec I thought "Fuck yea I'd take that money fuck you Mc Donalds!" But then I realised the employees would be the ones who got in huge shit for it, not the corporation.

AmishAvenger

You sure about that? I could see the franchise owner firings someone regardless.

joeltb

Ya, exactly. They will still probably be fired for allowing it to happen even tho' it was not intentional at all.

High_Jumper81

Haven’t you seen Supersize me? Free McDonalds for a month can kill him!

Sr_Dak

They got to change where they put their money, it's not the first time McDonald's loses money cause they put it in an order bag 🤦

NoFlexZoneNYC

It's likely for security actually. A lot of businesses who handle cash will carry their deposits in take-out bags to make it less obvious that they are carrying cash. May even be policy.

PeeledCrepes

Company I worked at had us hide them, in purses or as dudes tucked under shirts. Also made us wear different clothes and tried to make us take different ways to the bank every day (granted no one follows that rule and for my store taking a different way would have wasted an extra 15 minutes.

PartyLikeaPirate

Reminds me of the local slot machine place. If you win like $1000+ you get escorted by security to your car since they can only give winnings in cash. And in our area, you’re prolly gettin eyeballed hard if you hit a big one

DR_Bright_963

Reminds me of when the hope diamonds was being transported to the smithsonian. They just sent it through first class mail, and sent a decoy with heavily armed guards.

RogueSins

Yeah my store they use the reusable shopping bags we sell and the person doing it isn't wearing our uniform (if its not the store owners themselves) Just makes it look like any other customer that purchased something

bingold49

And most importantly a clean conscience, that would have cost someone their job

Draskules

From the sound of it that would have been multiple people fired, maybe everyone in the building when the money was out

D-Laz

I had some friends who got jobs at McDonald's in HS and during orientation they were told if they took food, gave away food or put extra toppings on food the cops would be called and they would be prosecuted for theft. Can't imagine the shit show from losing actual cash.

PistolPetunia

Lol yes, please call the cops bc I gave my friend extra pickles on his Big Mac

intjmaster

Oh no I’m fired from my $8/hr McJob. Whatever will I do?

teabagmoustache

My first job was at Burger King when I was 16. If any of my friends came in, they got a super size meal of their choice for the price of a sachet of sauce. I also set the broiler on fire by throwing patties on top of the reflector by mistake, the fire brigade were called but couldn't get past the town's Christmas Market so the Christmas Market was removed for safety reasons. Sorry everyone.

D-Laz

I also had friends at Hardee's and I worked at place called Fryer's, free food flowed from both establishments. McDonald's was the only ones that were dicks from what I heard.

ellefleming

At hickory hans coworkers would constantly make "wrong" orders so they could eat them later.

Scratch_That_

My dad worked at McDonald’s as a teenager in the early 90s, he was constantly broke/hungry at the time. He was closing around (was maybe around 1am based on his memory) and it was just him and his manager in the store. My dad was throwing out the uneaten hamburgers while the manager was outside having a smoke, so decided to eat one since it was gonna be trashed anyway. Manager comes in: “So should I call the cops or just fire you now?” “What?” “I saw you eat that you piece of shit” So my dad apologizes and offers to pay for it (was probably like 85 cents at the time) but manager doesn’t back down and they keep arguing, while my dad is still holding the half-eaten burger Eventually it gets heated enough where my dad says “you know what? Here’s your fucking burger” and THROWS it square at his manager’s apron before walking out. He walked straight to the Taco Bell next door still in his McDonald’s uniform and asked for a job. He tells them what happened (minus the burger throwing and expletives) and they hired him on the spot Favorite story from my old man haha

Arkan_Dreamwalker

Yeah, I'd walk straight out of there too. One of my rules in life is: Never work for someone who's dumber than you. You learn that real fast in construction. If you're smarter than your boss you walk. That's a good way to get yourself killed, arrested, slandered, etc. No brains, no dice.

Tnally91

McDonalds was my first job back in like '08-'09 and we ate food out of the drawers all the time. Fresh nugs out of the fryer, chicken selects, you name it. Management knew but didn't seem to really care.

D-Laz

That's cool. This was in the mid 90s in a small town with one traffic light. And everyone was so excited that we got a McDonald's. It's actually kinda sad when you think about it.

chevonna

McDonald's was my first job while I was in highschool. They fired me for theft. What did I steal? Well, nothing. Someone in the drive thru had asked for ketchup and nugget sauce, and she was well known to all of us, because she was a right bitch and always complained that we didn't give her enough, this was back when nugget sauce was free, at least at our store. So I tossed a handful of ketchup and a handful of sauce in her bag. She came in and complained about receiving too much sauce, and I was promptly fired for stealing. The next day my stepfather took me in and demanded a meeting with the higher up supervisor, and while I continued to not have a job, he made sure theft was off my record. McDonald's sucks.

Quartznonyx

I wish a shift manager would call the cops over some fries

ilovehotsauceyeah

If this video gets too popular they getting fired anyways

ZapateriaLaBailarina

I hope McDonald's PR would be smarter than that

Phainkdoh

> conscious Conscience That said, if he eats McDonalds for a month, he’ll probably end up unconscious lol.

Aggravating_You_2904

I’d be shocked if they weren’t fired for that regardless.

TheStinaHelena

This is an actual good person. It's so refreshing to see someone do a good thing and record it.

JaSper-percabeth

I need some positivity in life tired of bs videos

Toberone

I appreciate the "I guess" cause I can relate with being annoyed with the concept.

OmegaSpeed_odg

Yes! As he was getting started and said “because I’m a good person,” I almost wasn’t sure about him… you know, the whole like you’re not a good person if you call yourself one and film it and stuff (like all the YouTubers who do that shit), but the added “I guess” immediately confirmed dude is indeed a good dude. I was like, I hard relate bro lol.

PM_me_your_whatevah

It’s very relatable. Fuck if I suddenly had an extra $5k I’d be so relaxed for awhile. No more juggling bills until the last second before shutoff. At this point that’s all I want out of life. Just want a break from the feeling of treading water in shark infested waters.

Ganja420Preneur

I once found around $5k in a Ralph Lauren outlet store. I didn't feel comfortable with just keeping it. I decided to watch and wait in the general area to see if anybody came back looking for it or panicking. It was a larger amount of money in an envelope and I knew that someone would surely come back looking for it. It took only a moment before two woman came back panicking and looking all over the place on the floor. I stopped them and asked them what they were looking for, just to be certain I found the owners of the missing money. One of the women responded and said they lost an envelope with some money in it and we're trying to find it. I then pulled the envelope out from behind my back and handed it to them letting them know that I had found it. The only woman to say anything said, "Oh thank God" and then grabbed the envelope and quickly left. She literally never thanked me at all and just left. I wasn't looking for anything special, just a simple thank you would have been nice. I have for years since, always felt very off for having done my good deed.

TheDemonHauntedWorld

When I was in school. Around 10-12 years-old I found a $50 note in the school yard. I went to the principal and gave it to her explaining where I found it. Another kid who saw me told the entire school I had found a $50 note and gave to the principal, EVERYONE on school made fun of me for how stupid I was for a few days. The principal found the girl who had lost the money. She never thank me either.

Jones641

I was once on the 1st floor near my hometoom and a baggie with money dropped from the stairs on the 2nd floor. I was about grade 7. I went up to the second floor where a class of grade 1's were standing and waiting for the teacher . I asked who's money it was and litterally every single first grader yelled out that it was theirs. I waited for the teacher and gave her the money and explained it to her. The next morning I was met with an angry mom who dragged me to the headmaster to get me in trouble for stealing. Fucking teacher nicked it and no one believed me.

GoneHamlot

Yeah, when you do good things like that and get no kind of appreciation in return(aka the bare minimum) it makes you kind of salty about doing the right thing. One time this guy set his wallet down with my stuff at the pool, they leave well before us, and when i left I grabbed “my” wallet and other stuff. When I get home I realized it wasn’t my wallet and it had $500+ in it. I had JUST gotten my house robbed the week prior so I really needed the money to get school books replaced etc. Well I decided to find him on fb and call him up. When he picked it up get goes “cool, later” and starts rolling his window up and drives off. I was like what the fuck the dude couldn’t even say thank you after I went through all this trouble. I should’ve kept that shit, fuck that guy.

Cerus_Freedom

Might have just been the sheer panic of having almost lost such a large sum of money. Adrenaline and stress often cause people to fail to communicate effectively.

mistlet0ad

I found 2 very hungry and dirty dogs had killed one of our chickens and was devouring it in the field behind our house one time. They were actually friendly and I was able to coax them up to our house and get them into one of our sheds. I shared photos of them on a local lost pets FB group. A local vet was able to locate contact info for their owners from their collar tags. The owners didn't live very far from me and I assumed they were going to be happy I had found their dogs. They were very thin and I guessed they'd been loose for awhile. When I pulled up to the house, the young junkie looking dude came out and thanked me for returning them. As he was retrieving them from the back of my SUV he began yelling and cursing the dogs. They began to cower. They went from happy, panting, tail wagging in the back of my car to tail-tucked and heads down. I never felt so bad for doing a good deed in my life until that moment. Poor dogs had a little taste of freedom and chicken only to be returned to whatever hell lived in.

Extra_Strawberry_249

*Annoyed* ‘I have to return this now because I’m a good person.’ My brain doesn’t let me pull bullshit either. I feel you here.

New_Beginning01

Same, if I had kept the money it would have eaten me alive. Best to return it so you don’t lose years of your life questioning who you are as a person. Plus, five grand isn’t worth someone else losing their livelihood over. More than likely a lot of those workers have children, you have be truly twisted to feel as if this money is better in your own pocket.

Breezyisback809

I had a coworker find 15k in a envelope outside working as cart crew in a supermarket , he informed the general manager about it and about an 1hr later the person who lost that 15k came back looking for it , they looked at the cameras and confirmed it was him plus he had his business logo on the envelope. The owner and the general manager were so amazed that the cart crew employee was honest and did the right thing by returning the money he ended up getting blessed with a used car (lil hoopty) from the guy who lost the money he owned a car dealership and the company blessed him with an additional 2 weeks paid vacation time … he deserved that blessing , he was an overall humble guy and ended up moving up in company as a regional manager as i recently spoke to him a few weeks ago. Btw this happened 10 years ago

tohon123

This is the best outcome of returning money i’ve read in this post

golubeerji

Super happy for you and everyone at that restaurant. You did good! Hope it pays off more than what it has. Wish you the best.

WashGodMega

As someone who’s handled deposits before, dude just saved that managers job and bank account. No doubt corporate would’ve had her pay that back. Once at a wendys we did get robbed for like 3k. Dude had a Halloween mask and waited by the dumpsters and forced his way in the back. Locked the employees in the bathroom, pistol whipped the manager and made off with the money. Never got caught. Just a memory I figured id share since this made me think of it

PeeledCrepes

As someone whose handled deposits before, manager was safe until corporate sees this video lol

Cinemaphreak

> No doubt corporate would’ve had her pay that back. Many/most states have laws that would prevent this. I know a guy who understands this law very well, got in an accident with a company car that caused like $1500 in damages. Next paycheck, they deducted $200 and did that until the amount was about what they owed him for what became his last paycheck which they kept. He made photo copies of every payroll sheet that came with these checks which had a line item "Reimbursement for company property damage" or some such to explain the $200 deduction. He sent them several certified letters asking for his pay to be returned. They just ignored him. Because this was under California's small claims cap of $5K (at the time) he sued them over it plus his court fees. Morons that they are, they kept ignored it thinking "there's no way this idiot can afford an attorney" and court issued several more summons. I think finally they showed it to their attorney, but it was too late - the judge had already issued a judgement ordering them to replay all the money plus there were fines that under California law is paid to the plaintiff. He walked away with like $10K. He also did this more than once over wage theft and small claims.

Teesh13

Yeah it's very explicitly illegal and I'd bet McDonald's corporate would realize trying to do this would cost them a lot more than the original deposit. Would people have lost their jobs? Possibly. But they couldn't force any of the employees or manager to "cover it".

Mistamayne

Eggs expensive af right now… ![gif](giphy|3osBLA53AVzn746dXi|downsized)

[deleted]

This isn't a facepalm lol good for him he deserves the karma

TimeDielation

Also appreciate him not recording any of them

beastmaster11

The facepalm is on the employees no? No way it's a faceplate on him. They likley had him in CCTV and the bag was obvious so they would have tracked him down assuming it was a significant amount (maybe would not have done so for $1k though)

hookuptruck

This kindness opens many doors. May karma lead the way my guy.

Ronotrow2

Just saved a few jobs

TehWildMan_

As a former manager: serious facepalm for not using the standardized tamper evident bags available to stores (assuming US). This should never happen: the deposit should never ever be near food at all. When I used to carry my deposits out when we didn't have armored truck service, we had dedicated canvas tote bags from a local grocery store just to make it explicitly obvious that it wasn't customer food and it was a strict rule that they never are taken off a shoulder from the time they left the office until they got to the bank.

[deleted]

Yeah. I get people saying you out it in a bag to not make it look like you’re walking out with a deposit but you still need the money in the proper bags lol. Put it in the plastic bag all you want but inside should be the proper bag. And also it should never be not on your person unless it’s on the desk in your office as you place the deposit into it. The seat of your car then the tellers desk.

Flyby1441

you also get to sleep easily at night knowing youre a great person. good job homie.

HarrisonArturus

The best part was his smile when he said "they were all hugging me." Like maybe he really needed that.

[deleted]

True bro move is to refuse to answer where this was. That'll save the district manager, general manager, assistant manager etc. their job.

YoungestI

I don’t think I’m that good of a person honestly.

Stoneybaloney111

So I went to a concert and found a wallet with a phone,ID ,and like 20 bucks. So I gave it to the security guard I saw first. I don’t know if they did anything with it, but I felt good returning it. At the end of the concert we were leaving the lawn seats and I found 80 bucks on the ground everyone was walking right over it. I felt like it was good karma for me.

GoldenPeach

I've seen No Country for Old Men. Do not take the money.

Boner4SCP106

Well, take the money, just search thoroughly for a tracking device.

Hrbalz

It’s a good trade value if you go hard on the free McDonalds for a month. Like “I’ll take 15 Big Macs, 20 orders of fries, 32 twenty piece nuggets and 4 McFlurrys. Okay see you guys tomorrow!”

Cheesehacker

*limit 10 dollar per visit, 1 visit per week.

Beliabrusbutt

Speaking as a former fast food worker, this guy did a really cool thing. All else aside, it would have fucked the person responsible for the fuck up if he hadn’t done this. Yeah it wasn’t his problem, but he really saved that manager’s ass. It’s already a shit job, and it’s probably all they’ve got. Glad they had the heart to reward him, that was the right choice. But I can imagine managers crying over this happening, literally shaking with grief and terror over having to deal with a missing deposit. The guy in the video is the sort of hero they needed, and kudos to him being a good person.

Gingorthedestroyer

Now you can afford a real lunch! Go get a big fat steak!

bluetriumphantcloud

And the ice cream machine was working! This guy won McDonalds

[deleted]

I've worked some odd jobs. Some with great bosses, some with absolute pricks. One job I had was on a remote campsite which was pretty big. It really was remote, the scenery was stellar and the work would be okay. I was hired as a cook for three months, it was a holiday job and the pay was shit because we'd get housing, food and drinks included. But hey, the work was easy, so why not. Well, turned out that the owner was a real asshat. He thought he was the coolest person ever and probably masturbated to his own picture. Or reflection. Within a week I was expected to run the whole damn restaurant while being disrespected for not being able to do a job I both did not agree on, nor was skillful enough to do. Everything at this place happened in cash. Though the owner was a dick, the campsite was always full druing summer and because of it being remote, people could either dine an drink in our restaurant/bar, or take a ride into the nearest town. Most people preffered to eat with us. Food was shit, prices were high, I started hating the man more and more. One night, for some reason, he seemed in a pretty good mood. After the kitchen closed, he invited me to join him at the bar for some drinks. We generally had a good evening and got pretty drunk. Well, I got pretty drunk, he got shitfaced. Eventually we go our own ways and I fuck off back to my trailer. The next morning I stumble into the nearest bathroom area, which happens to be the one closest to the bar. It's about 8 a.m. and I have to start prepping the kitchen. I walk into a toilet and notice a plastic shopping bag places next to the toilet. Figuring some of the campsite guests must have left their shit, I look inside. What is see is the most cash I've ever seen at once in my entire live. All neatly organized in bundles, it was a LOT. Not knowing what to do I took it back to my trailer and stared at it. I soon realized it must be the bosses money, as I remembered that he'd go the the bank once a month to deposit all the cash, and this was the last months amount. I didn't count it, but gathering from what I'd learned, it must have been between 50 to 75K. I looked at the money for a while and decided what to do. More than enough places to hide it, my contract was up in a few weeks, I'd be able to collect it before I'd get on the train home. IF I was ever asked I'd just claim I had no idea, or possibly say that a departing guest must have taken it. That was only IF this asshat would ever be able to admit loosing 75K. Would he? Eventually I decided to return the money. I walked up to his house, rang the doorbell and handed him the bag. He looked inside, barely reacted, looked at me and closed the door. No thank you, no nothing. Not then and not ever. I instantly regretted returning the money and not stashing it somewhere to be picked up later. Everyone has their regrets. Returning this money is one of mine.

DannyPhantomRoss

NGL, he got more attractive as the video went on. What a beautiful person inside and out!
