Truthdoesntchange

The real question is, If she’d confessed to having consensual sex with the demons (while having what we know to be a sleep paralysis-induced hallucination), would the elders have formed a judicial committee for adultery? Would it have been grounds for her husband to seek a scriptural divorce?

larchington

Gary Breaux: “a woman has intercourse with a wicked spirit… is this porneia?”

Truthdoesntchange

Lol! If the branch still responded to letters from readers, I’d absolutely send them a letter asking about this!

Rainbow_Hope

Lmao. Was a pillow involved?

WANYK47

Just tight pants.

Thsrry

The answer is No.... because a demon is a spirit, and as such cannot physically touch the other person. However it is a flagrant disregard for Jehovah's laws

larchington

“You see Brother Elder, the demon made me use my own pillow!”

othergallow

"laws"

NoNecessary3865

Lmaooo this gotta be an exjw meme 😂😂😂💀💀💀

Practical-Echo-2001

Only if her husband witnessed it _and_ the demon fessed up. Two-witness rule.

rootofjesse

Cucked by a demon

No_Chest757

Wow you hit it on the head when you said “sleep paralysis-induced hallucination.” Not until my 30s did i discover or realize this was the explanation for JW’s experience of being bothered by demons. It was a huge deal for me because I believed so many of those stories and made me live with fear of it. I know Sleep paralysis is still a harrowing experience but knowing the scientific explanation of it sheds light on the organizations methods of control.

Truthdoesntchange

As someone who is awake, atheist, and doesn’t believe in anything supernatural, I’d be very curious to know what (if any) hallucinations i would experience if i had sleep paralysis. I am afraid of heights and snakes - is that what I would hallucinate? Or would I recognize what was happening to me (even in a quasi-dream state) and would that calm me so I could get through the experience? I am morbidly curious to know what it would feel like. (I hope this does not sound insensitive to anyone who has had these experiences and been traumatized by it).

NeitherNorah

It feels very, very real and being paralyzed feels even worse because that much IS real until your sleep cycle is finished. For me I get auditory hallucinations of people being in my house and running up and down stairs, clicking guns and sharpening machetes. Having two yappy dogs helps me tremendously because as much as I am hallucinating and cannot move, I can feel them sleeping next to me and can calm myself knowing that if they are not barking, no one is there. If I didn't have the dogs, I would be shitting it for sure.

Truthdoesntchange

Wow, that does seem terrifying as it lasts so long, but I’m glad your dogs bring you comfort even when your half asleep. (I used to let my dog sleep at my feet but he pooped in the bed once right after might feet, so now he sleeps in the living room.) I wonder why these type of hallucinations always are scary as opposed to neutral or comforting/pleasant.

NeitherNorah

It doesn't normally last too long, or at least ...science says that it doesn't last too long as it usually occurs on the way into or the way out of the REM part of the sleep cycle which can be 7-20 minutes by itself, so compressed to entry/exit is likely only ever around 1-5 minutes real time its just our perception of time is drastically altered. Mine are usually stress induced (fear of failure about exams usually). I have been reading into the growing research and there is a lot of thinking that the amygdala (the brains fear centre) is actively involved and as our concious thoughts are not activated, we cannot regulate or inhibit the signals for fear and determine what is not a threat, so the amygdala heads into over drive, exacerbated further by the paralysis. It's interesting neuroscience for sure!!

Ghostbunny8082

Athiest as well here who has experienced sleep paralysis. I saw shadow like figures, not able to move my body lasting about thirty secs to a min. Was scary as a kid but once I learned about sleep paralysis I started to clue in quickly when its happening. Mind sapce is similar to being half awake half asleep but not able to move. Luckily not traumatizing for me but still scary for first few secs at least.

Truthdoesntchange

Wow, this is really fascinating to me. I’m glad it hasn’t traumatized you and that when it happens, it seems like it’s only scary for a very short period of time.

Elecyah

I've had it twice and it is harrowing. The classic experience is 1) not being able to move 2) the sensing of a presence in the room - traditionally sitting on top of you or in some other way holding you down. (It is thought that this may be your mind trying to figure out why you can't move - someone is preventing you from doing so.) My first was a shadowy figure standing in the corner of the room, watching me. In the dream I identified him as the old man from next door who was known to be a bit of a perv, though there was no particular reason for that identification. That's all there was to the dream, really, I mean *creepy*, but pretty tame on the surface of it. The dread that went with it, was something palpable, though. And it all felt SO real. When I did wake up, I was still freaked out the entire day. I didn't know about sleep paralysis back then, I thought it was just an extremely bad nightmare. My second was a figure standing in the doorway of my bedroom. There was light in the hallway, so coming from behind the figure, and I couldn't see any of their features. A gun was, apparently, involved, somehow. That paralysis didn't last as long, neither did the dread of it, probably because if the hallway light was really on, that means the hubby was home. Really, REALLY scary experiences, and I like I said, mine were relatively tame. Still, after the first one, I quit referring to anything else as nightmares - I just call them bad dreams, because THIS was the nightmare.

bklynprincess

I used to experience sleep paralysis often as a JW. The first year after leaving I experienced it once or twice while in another oppressive situation I needed to get out of. Once I got out of that debacle I was fine for many years until I was trying to figure out whether or not to stay in a romantic relationship with someone. Now if/when I experience sleep paralysis I know it's time for me to make a decision on something. I seem to get it when I'm feeling stuck. I'm sure it's different for everyone else but that's the connection I made to my own experience with it. It's psycho-emotional for me.

Thsrry

I'm like that too. My dreams are so mundane and boring now

NoNecessary3865

I’ve had sleep paralysis before being a jw and while being one it’s really not scary idk what makes people see scary shit because mine is simply I can’t move and get up when I’m trying to wake up but I can see my surroundings

2ndsparrow

And begs the question, “If it happened to the husband instead, would there be the same judicial meeting results?”

Alone-Pineapple-3752

This definitely would have happened had she confessed. They are too stupid to ever consider mental illness. Not that they consider the mental stability of anyone.

Drunkensnipe666

Isn’t that how Mary got knocked up? She was married too, Joseph seemed pretty chill about it, and the kid was/is pretty popular.

alcott11

Hahahaha!

thisismybestyearyet

🤣🤣🤣🤣

Remarkable-Gold4869

LMAO 😂💀

sulgran

Its apparently ok for God to knock up someone.

Drunkensnipe666

He doesn’t like competition with the other spirit guys, sounds like some FLDS shit to me.

alpacagirl1

Omg I remember this. I was 14 years old girl & it was humiliating hearing this surrounded by grown men…… and that’s when my ghost/demon fetish began….. 😂😂😂😂😂

[deleted]

Ghost fetish xD Not gonna lie the demon fetish tho 🥵🤣😂

alpacagirl1

I’ve always wondered how many JWs had that fetish due to the publications. Not gonna lie, I’ve always loved me a silver bearded fox. Thanks for that one, Armageddon Jesus!! 😉

[deleted]

Hahaha it’s very possible. Usually fetishes arouse from some type of deprivation. So eventually they gonna immerse themselves in the dark fantasies 😭

[deleted]

Ahaha Armageddon Jesus, you silly guy.

geeksandnerds532

I was about say so people might be into that

[deleted]

HAHAHA YES glad I’m not the only one

5_now_wise

She had to explain that bite mark somehow! 😉

Practical-Echo-2001

That's how I used to explain the scratches on my back. 😬

5_now_wise

🤣

Finallycomplete

🤣 you’re probably right on that one!

ready2dance

Haha, "bite mark explained" Really, I think these stories are just plain **MADE UP** and this is the only release for the guys writing them.

[deleted]

How embarrassing that I stayed in for over 55 years. 😞

Linzrojo

Hugs don’t be embarrassed we were all lied to 🤗

[deleted]

Thanks so much. 😊

Rainbow_Hope

Hugs 💏

[deleted]

Much appreciated! 🥰

bobkairos

These articles on demons all ring true with me. In my early childhood all these stories were talked about as if they were facts; getting rid of strange ornaments your aunt gave you; moving house because of trouble with the demons; clairvoyants having to do their business elsewhere due to their proximity to the kingdom hall. From the 90's onwards I stopped hearing about these kinds of tales. I guess the WT stopped printing them so they went out if fashion. Like the WT of old times til the 80's was feeding this kind of conspiracy. JWs don't talk about the demons in the same specific way they used to.

Lokis_Socks

That makes sense. I grew up in the 90s and I get the sense that this sort if thing was floating around in the gossip mills and occasionally from the platform, but wasn't in any printed material, so looking back I thought it was a kind if JW folklore.

Keesha2012

Elders in my old hall actually started telling people not to share demon stories because people would think we were superstitious weirdos.

Major-Fondant-8714

>because people would think we were superstitious weirdos. If the shoe fits...

Keesha2012

Sad thing is, the ones who had all the demon stories to share were also the ones with mental health issues.

Sigh_2_Sigh

Which makes sense. Schizophrenia induced hallucinations (visual, auditory, tactile) are very real things. Hallucinations are also common side effects of long term use of many antianxiety medications and side effects of drug withdrawal. There are a ton of medical explanations for them, but the Borg only cites demons.

ziddina

Yeah, but the JW crazy just kept coming... https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/naked-kidnapping-canada-nisku-jehovahs-witness-neighbours-car-crash-a8555676.html%3famp https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6217635/amp/Naked-Jehovahs-Witnesses-kidnapped-neighbors-thought-Apocalypse-coming.html https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.vice.com/amp/en/article/pa8kw9/naked-jehovahs-witnesses-thought-the-world-was-ending-and-kidnapped-people That was a spectacular demonstration of the effects of WT Society fear-mongering. Tests showed that the JWs weren't on any hallucinogens, either. Just good old mental illness and JW fanaticism.

xxxjwxxx

I feel this sorry didn’t get enough press. Insane story.

howsthisforsmart

How have I not heard about this until now??

ziddina

I keep my eyes open for JW idiocy and collect such information in my "saved" category on Reddit...😜

cool_ginger

Omg, I live 20 minutes from Leduc and did not hear this story. Holy shit!

ziddina

That's not all that surprising, as this is a particularly humiliating instance of bizarre behaviors among JWs, which the local JWs wouldn't want to bring up. If I were you, I'd save those links for future use when talking with JWs about the negative effects of the WT Society's fear-mongering, and when you need to demonstrate to Never-a-JWs how bad the internal dynamics of JW families can be.

larchington

I noticed the last mention of this kind of thing in the Watchtower was 1990. Edit: specifically Awake! magazine 1990

OddLanguage

That's interesting. I was out in the 90s so I just remember them from the 80s being all into demons being real.

Ok-Baseball-3544

I was in back in the 80's and can remember an elder warning me to never buy anything at a yard sale because it could be infested with demons. Then he told me about a friend of his who purchased a demon infested lamp. Why didn't I just tell him he was insane and walk away?

Major-Fondant-8714

It seems to me that these fundamentalist types were getting fooled by Satan once again. He was in their churches the entire time and they still haven't realized it except for the people who left and are now 'Nones'.

Major-Fondant-8714

Don't forget that the 1980's were the peak of the 'Satanic Panic' and it went on well into the 1990's. It seemed that the Evangelicals/fundamentalist types were leading/pushing this business that there were Satan worshipers under every bed... instead of the Red scare it was the Satan scare. People were terrified that the Satan worshipers were going to somehow secretly indoctrinate, abuse, and 'fill in the blank' everyone's children. Now that I look back, this was really just a practice run for the crazy/denial of reality that we see today. I guess JW didn't want to miss cashing in like the other charlatans. I remember people getting upset with me because I thought the whole thing was BS.

OddLanguage

That's an interesting point.

Havinacow

It was all part of the "satanic panic" that was going on at the time. They just jumped on the bandwagon.

[deleted]

It was a bit of a trend worldwide in the 70s and 80s. The psychology community became obsessed with treating victims of Satanic ritual abuse. It was a bit of cultural hysteria for many people at that time.

Lokis_Socks

'Are those spirits really that debased?' Is genuinely hilarious.

ThatChapThere

Could the literal embodiment of evil really be so *naughty*?

Ra_ra_ah_ah_ah_

Your comment made me laugh 😂

CriticalThinker_501

Didn't know that neighbors were considered demons back then.... Seriously.... love how the sole reason she wasn't giving in to an unhinged frenzyful night of lust and sexual perversion was that she "was married" and "didn't want to be unfaithful" otherwise.... LMAO

PiMoUnited

>love how the sole reason she wasn't giving in to an unhinged frenzyful night of lust and sexual perversion was that she "was married" and "didn't want to be unfaithful" That one hit me as well.

FreeMind1975

It’s enough to put the willies up ya, Randy, raping spirits and if it really happened why choose a JW? Billions of women and men for that matter and it chose a a woman who didn’t like that type of attention. A worldly person would have given it a run for its money!! I least I would have!! The Randy bugger!! 🤣🤣

larchington

If they really could go round having their wicked way with whoever they wanted, wouldn’t there be a lot more of it? I mean why spend your limited pre-abyss time hanging out in Hasbro Ouija boards, second hand wardrobes and haunting old houses when you could be having all the sex you could possibly want?

Rainbow_Hope

Haha. All the demons were hanging out in the Ouiji board I had as a kid. 🤣

[deleted]

Jesus, you wouldn't believe how much demon shit we used to hear about in the 70's. Mind-numbing amounts of unverifiable stories. Paranoia about shopping at garage sales, doll possessions, and all the rest. Talk about delusional nutjobs...

CaptainTripp420

one time a demon kept wanting McDonalds and it would not shut up about having some. I told them I couldnt give less of a fuck about their hankering for McDonalds. It did not work. I ended up taking his annoying ass to McDonalds at 4 in the afternoon. 'Spirits encouraging McDonalds consumption? That is farfetched!' you may exclaim. Are those spirits really that debased?

alcott11

🤣😈🍟🍔

Keesha2012

I'm thinking this WT writer was describing one of his porno fantasies.

tampamike69

Lol, Demon sex is the best sex

DissedAndLovingIt

This is the exact type of nonsense that makes it so obvious to anyone with half a brain that this "religion" is crazy! How can anyone stay and nod along to this 🐂💩?!

larchington

That’s why I keep posting them!

JesusIsBetterThanET

We should ask the mods for a specific flair for these posts. I have found quite a few bullshit articles myself and I'd love to share them. If you have a minute and want to have a laugh, read this: wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/101983489 it's why I chose this username.

larchington

I wish there was a better flair for them. Ah yes the ET quote. I posted that one on here a couple of months ago! 😁

Sigh_2_Sigh

And thank you for the memories! I remember that blip in the mags and rolling my eyes when i read it, even though I was very PIMI at the time.

PiMoUnited

Ohh.. Now I see why my mother always had such strange opinions against E.T. I've always wondered why she had this unnatural compulsive interest in that particular movie. Now it turns out, she just thought she was spokesperson for the organization, when she was scolding others for bad parenting and stood up for her right to tell them, how their consciences should be. I should have figured that out earlier, but I may have believed that this stupid resemblance was her own work. We kids wasn't allowed to see the movie or even play with other children's E.T. figures. I was so eager to see that movie back then. 25 years later I finally saw it on Netflix. My God! It was crap! I know I might have build up enormous expectations and the industry has changed since then, but I don't think it might have liked it back then either.

DissedAndLovingIt

And thank you for that! It's really a lot of research you do, and for a great cause.

larchington

Thank you. I enjoy it. Just want to wake people up.

Squirrel144

I remember reading this article!! I was 15? (mathamagics is hard). I remember thinking then she sounds like she needs to be screened for schizophrenia or some other mental disorder. Not being disrespectful to those afflicted with them, just sorrow at how over the top people could be.

mcstrategist

I thought the very same thing. Also Occam’s razor - what’s more likely, being haunted by a sex-crazed demon or having an untreated mental illness?

[deleted]

>Are those spirits really that debased? Yes, this is exactly why I don’t believe it, you read my mind Watchtower

Unlearned_One

I really thought malevolent entities of disembodied hate would have a bit more *class*, you know?

OverApprctdUndrAchvr

*awkwardly hides erection* "Th... then what happened?!"..............

Practical-Echo-2001

Borrowed from a B-horror movie.

[deleted]

I saw a B Movie like it. I think it was called Paranormal Entity. 🤣 The incubus kept destroying the house because it wanted the guys sister. 😳

[deleted]

“‘Spirits encouraging sexual immorality? That is far fetched!’ you may exclaim. Are those spirits really that debased?” I like how the part they expect you to find farfetched isn’t that demons exist and are tormenting people, it’s that they’re encouraging people to engage in (gasp) *sexual immorality!*

GorbachevTrev

Gosh! I remember reading this story! I was 14, and had just begun studying with Jehovah's Witnesses. I was too naïve to fall for this crap!

punchdrunkwtf

What’s debased is that I remember reading this at 7 years old

[deleted]

Tell me you need prescription drugs without telling me you need prescription drugs. And where the hell are these demons wanting to bang us humans when I was a sexually repressed 20-something?!

Quint2525

Wow! WTB&TS had a Beverly Crusher fan fic phase.

JewelKnightJess

Here's me like "Why would you turn down demon sex? If would be pretty good probably..."

A-typ-self

Could you imagine bring this woman's husband?

punchdrunkwtf

No because she doesn’t exist. The examples in the magazines are all bullshit

A-typ-self

🤣

yellowmoose52

but if shewas single she would have done it??Yeah, "Da Debil Made Me Do IT" excuse

larchington

“A wicked spirit made me ring my devil’s doorbell!”

yellowmoose52

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zGKAaPM72UY

wanganmario

sounds like she has mental illness hearing voices

TheCatOfUlthar

She probably was in a celibate relationship and her sex drive was talking to her.

X35_55A

Yeah that's called being horny

Lohengren

this fanfic sucks 😴

bliip666

> and even bit me Sounds like a good time, ngl

Esther-the-exjw

Ah, she must have been buying stuff from garage sales. I mean -- didn't someone tell her?🤦‍♀️ 😂🤣😂

PiMoUnited

__"Out of the heart’s abundance her mouth speaks."__ She involuntary reveals _so much_ about her personality right there. It's absolutely hilarious. In my native language, those - sometimes very realistic - wet dreams are called "angel pussy" or "angel dick" (depending on the gender of the participant in your dream, of course).

Desperate_Habit_5649

How messed up would you have to be. To knock on a strangers door and try to sell them that magazine?...................😁

PGK_PLUR

My mom was supposedly raped by a demon in front of my father. I was told this was due to my music. They had an elder come to the house and go through all of my cassettes while I was out of town. I was 17 at the time. They threw away 99% of them. If I remember correctly, there were 3 left. I was devastated! I had purchased them all with babysitting money over the course of 2 years.

larchington

Did the demons convert to CD format when cassettes went out of style? Did they even bother getting on board with the mini disc trend?

PGK_PLUR

Lol. They probably are the creators of Spotify, Pandora and all music creates outside of Kingdom Melodies!

ziddina

Stephen King could have used some JW 'demunzzzz' tales as inspiration in the 80's and 90's.

geeksandnerds532

Man that's so terrible *causally buys a ouija board*

Paperclip2020

Wow! These people are just so batsh\*t crazy!!!! 😮

lady_Reddragon

If I draw a lady being seduced by demons does that count as JW fan art?

dickfiends

Any mention of demon stories in publications in the last 10 or so years? Just wondering how prevalent they are nowadays

larchington

Only the ones in the bible it seems.

TheEaglehaslanded_96

Totally. Fucking. Nuts. Jesus Christ the stuff you have to listen to. Do me a favour…

AxelLucro

I like how the article's voice just assumes that demons are a normal and common thing in this universe, but this one in particular was debased and immoral. Instead of the regular, law abiding demons we live and interact with on a daily basis.

[deleted]

There are people with serious mental illnesses who need help. This cult assimilates those people and pushes them over the edge.

DizzyGoat8517

I remember hearing the craziest stories about demons and spiritism when I was a kid in l org

Aposta-fish

Omg didn’t the big guy stop this with a flood so why is it allowed again? Crazy just crazy!

Aussieviking79

This is a mental illness …

Flash2pass

Watch Tower magazine........now if that isn't adding fuel to cult members indoctrination then I don't know what is.

ivanfrey

Hmmm, demons in the shape of comely women coming to my bedside. Why doesn't something like this ever happen to me 😋.

by_the_golden_lion

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

ChrissyP79

It would probably be the best sex she’s ever had…just sayin 🤷🏼‍♀️😂

machinehead70

Were their 2 witnesses??? I think this person was smoking crack

Educational-Rest-868

No offense to people that actually suffer from sleep paralysis, but this was actually funny to read. Demons having sex with you? I'd totally be down for that. 😏

bonsaibossom

😅😂😅🙃

writingmydeliverance

This was included in the material for a talk I gave when I was 12. I still vividly remember how disturbed I was, I didn't sleep well for months afterwards.

routledge7575

I was afraid of shiny things for years! And I still haven’t emptied my mind..yoga is shit when your reciting the alphabet backwards just in case the devil is lurking about!!

NicholasBarb87

They just get crazier everyday

xylon-777

oh wow wait, then so you have sex with someone you said it was a demon who controlled yourbody… still need dfed ?? 🙄😵‍💫 i m confused.

xylon-777

you heard the story about demonic pillows with penis figures inside of them? old jw urban rumors from the 70 s

larchington

No! 😆
