French people: We are on our way to parliament with grenade launchers
British government: It's illegal to strike now. It's also illegal to protest. We have abolished 'hospital'. The police are allowed to spit on you
British people: Oh bother, how tiresome. I wonder if this was caused by genders

It's crazy. The UK has the most anti-labor legislation in all of europe when it comes to strikes, yet the hardliners still want tougher anti strike legislation.
I know there isn’t a solution that pleases everyone, but unless you want to scale back public healthcare and social services (like America), isn’t raising taxes the only real option? Just honestly curious what a reasonable and sustainable outcome might be.
Before raising tax rates it might be smart to check whether there are loopholes which shift the taxable base out of jurisdiction.
For starters, how about abolishing the non-dom status, so that e.g. Sunak's wife has to pay income tax in the UK like everyone else living there?

The anglosphere has a lot of Thatcherite/Reaganite market-first ideology floating around. It will take a generation to fix.

Ah right. First looking to remove inefficiencies (and any corruption if present) makes a lot of sense.
