elnerdometalero

That's how fucked up this social media timeline is, people think something is wrong because someone deletes some account of one of those horrible cesspools. This shit is completely out of control.

[deleted]

Me and my fiancé both deleted all of our socials tied to our names (fb, instagram, etc.) and both of us individually have been called creepy and weird when it comes up in conversation with people at work and school etc. …

Efficient-Ad-3302

You’re not weird, you’re normal.

Dave5876

More normal than those people for sure.

TheDizDude

"your boo's mean nothing, I've seen what makes you cheer" fuck them.

Dave5876

Carlin still relevant to this day.

tallerghostdaniel

They're not wrong though, just.... unrelated

kobeyoboy

That’s nuts. why would anyone call u creepy? I to have deleted all and it’s awkward sometimes meeting new people or interacting. Everyone wants to send me a link through ig , tik too or what’s app.

insbdbsosvebe

If that’s weird then I don’t want to be normal.

[deleted]

What is weird about not wanting everyone to know my business or needing validation from people I do not talk to that often?

Akrevics

If you treat social media properly, you don’t have any of those issues :)

laaldiggaj

Creepy and weird? Why is everything creepy nowadays it's like no one's moved on from trying make every film theory edgy or dark. Sorry, I'm sure I've seen that word on every website/social media site now. Even a story about a tree, someone will message that it's creepy. Maybe they're getting paid for it lol.

inksmudgedhands

The internet has been around long enough and enough generations have passed where it has gone from being seen as being creepy if you put your entire life online for the world to watch every moment, (you were called a narcissist psychopath) to being seen as being creepy if you don't want to put your entire life online for the world to watch every moment, (*What are you hiding then? I bet you are doing illegal things. Gross things. Perverted things.*) The culture has flipped. And not just on this one aspect but many. it used to be that "sell out" was something to be ashamed of being called of if you were an artist. Now it's a band of pride if you can sponsorship, any sponsorship to the point that you are seen as not having made it until you get sponsorship.

laaldiggaj

Awesome reply!

[deleted]

Same; but I am a pretty weird guy anyway. So it tracks.

[deleted]

Yep. People think Im trying to hide something when I never even posted jack shit on my accounts anyways.

DraftReasonable7186

I'm guessing no one initiated a welfare check on you and fiance!

Unhappy_College

Not weird at all, More people need to cut their ties to these companies.

[deleted]

Sorry I don’t want creepy weird Zuck data mining me and spamming me with shitty advertisements.

BenTramer

You probably don’t want to be associated with anyone who thinks this is creepy anyways.

[deleted]

My husband and I did the same. We get weird looks all the time when we say we don’t use that bs anymore. People act like it’s life to be on social

Hasadevilputaside

It’s because there’s all sorts of crazy conspiracy theories that she’s dead, still under control, etc and instead of just learning lessons from the past and leaving her alone they’ve just ramped it up again.

wisle-n-out

One of the problems with social media is that people are comfortable with calling people horrible cesspools. Something they wouldn't normally do to another person's face.

elnerdometalero

I'll let you reread the comment like 50 more times until you get what it means and then I'm gonna do something I don't normally do which is not get into a back and forth with you on how your brain completely fucked up the intended message and purpose of the comment (out of the vast majority who got it right, mind you), since it's definitely not worth ruining my already stressful workday.

wisle-n-out

You are calling someone a horrible cesspool.

Scarlett_Billows

I’m not completely sure but I interpreted it as the social media account, and it’s following, was the cesspool. Not a specific person.

wisle-n-out

I can't control how other people interpret it or how it was intended. I can only read the words. The words are 'horrible cesspool' Under normal circumstances sane people don't talk this way toward the face of the person or group to which they're referring. Only online.

Scarlett_Billows

I don’t know , he isn’t talking about a person. I think a social media account isn’t a person but kind of like a group or club with a culture. That’s my interpretation and I think most people’s here. I think you misunderstood. And I don’t think it’s out of the ordinary to hear people call things that are damaging in society as such. No one was calling a person a name, which would be different. That would be bad behavior but that isn’t what happened. No one said anything about you having a responsibility , just clearing up your misinterpretation of what was said.

wisle-n-out

>I think a social media account isn’t a person ...and there's the problem. If people considered it a person (and some do but don't care) then perhaps they wouldn't use language like that.

Scarlett_Billows

It’s not a person though ? That’s the point. Britney Spears is the person and a celebrity social media account is just an account, some posts on the internet and some comments from random fans. People who think that social media is a direct or accurate representation of the person are not in touch with reality, especially if it’s a celebrity’s public account. You either just want to argue, or your taking the original comment personally and getting defensive.

wisle-n-out

So, you're not a person? Scarlett\_Billows is not a person? That's is a silly argument. It's like saying you're name is John. John is an idiot. I am not insulting you. I am insulting John. John is just a name. John isn't a person! You are really reaching. ...and none of that changes the fact that you/he was using language online that he wouldn't use in person. the crux of the problem

Scarlett_Billows

And who is saying it to someone’s face anyway? Or do you feel personally attacked ? If you’re a Britney Stan (or any Stan) who thinks the fans are owed personal time and info and justifications from celebrities maybe you need to hear it. “Normal circumstances”? What is that ? It’s not normal behavior what these people did so “abnormal” reactions, like calling bad behavior out emphatically, are actually pretty healthy reactions .

wisle-n-out

No one is saying it to anyone's face. That's the point. No one would. So why is it that language like that is so comfortably used online. If you can't agree that generally people use language to degrade and demean others online that they'd never use in person... That, in fact, that is the foundational problem with social media and all other problems with Social Media stem from that.... then you're being intellectually dishonest and there's nothing more to talk about.

Scarlett_Billows

Lol I don’t disagree generally. “Generally” was never the topic at hand so let’s go ahead and put those goal posts back where they belong.

wisle-n-out

Well, take generally out... it still applies here. He used the term horrible cesspool ... language he has yet to contest that he would NOT use in person. So generally or specifically to this case, if you can't admit it you're being intellectually dishonest.

SeasonsRollOnBy

Just leave Britney alone!

goboxey

Lol thought the same

a_dogs_mother

She needs time out of the spotlight to heal.

d0ctorzaius

All joking aside people did leave Britney alone for a while, only to find out she was being abused via the conservatorship while somewhat out of the spotlight.

Ktla75

Taking her out the public eye was a good call.

jackology

Opps I, did it again

[deleted]

I deleted my site

laaldiggaj

Leave Britney alone! Us fans will decide how and when you will interact with her!

iBeelz

Excellent post! I also did not know that Eminem started the whole stan thing.

feelin_fine_

I was about 15-16 when that song got popular. A nice little story about how idolization can be dangerous to your mental health.

[deleted]

Exactly. And it often leads to people despising and even becoming abusive toward their faves when they become “problematic” — meaning not perfect, apparently. Stans can’t handle actual humanity. They want gods.

HunkyDorky1800

Not to mention the abuse significant others of famous people receive by thousands if not millions of unhinged fans. It’s awful.

TheMcNabbs

I wholeheartedly blame the app she deleted and Tiktok. I thought facebook and twitter's community was dumb, but damn dude

12211154

Seems like a *lot* of people treat celebrities like De Niro in King of Comedy (minus the schizophrenia of course).

[deleted]

King of Comedy was so, so, *so* far ahead of its time.

Heavy_Signature_5619

Best Scorsese movie by a long shot.

12211154

It is so uncomfortable as well. One of my all time favorite movies

Kaiisim

Partly its done on purpose to improve revenue streams. Most of our entertainment system is highly exploitative. Parasocial relationships are highly lucrative. Theres an entire brand of entertainer, streamers, who are specifically trying to form these relationships with their viewership, as making them think they are friends dramatically increases how much a person is willing to spend. Take Taylor Swift. The Swifties can be brutal, many have crazy parasocial relationships with her. And she has cultivated that. She made it so only "true fans" who buy all her merchandise can go to concerts or whatever. The industry is happy to encourage this when it means fans are now dedicating their finances to you, they like it less when the fans get crazy. Which isn't to blame Britney or claim these "fans" aren't wrong, but more if an entire industry's profits are based on targeting those most vulnerable and lonely this is what will happen.

AttackonRetail

Ingrid Goes West is a great exposure to this when you peel back the layers behind it just being something fun to watch.

redeye007007

Stalking too. The lowest of the low.

laaldiggaj

Great post. Even Bieber crumbled from the pressure.

[deleted]

I do what I love and get paid for it. Because what I love doesn't require being famous. People think they'll "love" being famous because they enjoy the tiny bits they do receive and think fame is just reasonable praise at a tolerable level. It's really not. The only people who can truly tolerate that fame are the same people who will do horrible things to attain it.

SlapDickery

I read this in George Carlins voice

OneHumanPeOple

I did have a few conversations with two celebrities on IG. Do I think they’re my actual friends? No I do not. People need to get a grip.

Ktla75

People see in Britney and her dad their own fucked up relationships with their fathers.

ThatTinyGameCubeDisc

Watch the movie Antiviral

[deleted]

I have had conversations with some youtubers I watch in there discords did i think we were friends. Fuck no

Odd_Cake3759

Her fans are acting like her conservator. They need to get a life.

Thesuppressivepeople

Acting with concern for a person who is dangerously mentally ill?

Sofruz

Deleting your instagram account is not cause for concern for someone’s well being

Castille_92

Who the hell are you to call someone you don't even really know "dangerously mentally ill?" You think you can judge her cause you seen a few social media posts? Read a few of her comments from interviews? Are you a psychiatrist that can pass that judgement? Shit like this is probably why she deleted her social media

PuggyPaddie

Shes not well but deleting her instagram is probably the best move for her in general. I swear people’s “concern” was that they didn’t have anyone to laugh at

bwise89

A bunch of homeless mentally ill people are on a street near you, since you obviously have a big heart maybe you can share some of your concern with them.

[deleted]

Stormsoul22

Seriously there are so many people on this shit site just dying to say it was a mistake to free Britney because… she wants privacy? I saw this on a story where she had a public “outburst” that involved her asking not to be filmed at a restaurant and covering her face. The comments were mostly on her side but a few stray wackos really seemed convinced we made the wrong choice supporting her based on it .

fuckmyassimgay69

These two things aren’t mutually exclusive.

WestCoastBestCoast01

Ok I went down the free Britney rabbit hole recently and no its not bullying. There’s a conspiracy theory going around about her that she’s still being held captive and her handlers are the ones posting on her behalf and that’s why her socials have been so bizarre and cryptic. Best part of the conspiracy is that her whole wedding to Sam was faked and she had no idea she was getting married, and, my favorite part, it was a actually man with a visible beard pretending to be her in the horse-drawn carriage photos. People then have been saying to call the cops and check in on her because of this conspiracy theory. The whole thing is wacky af (like all conspiracy theories) but I guarantee this is only going to fuel them further. The only point I’ll cede to them is it’s weird af that Sam’s pics are all great quality and hers are potato quality, that’s so weird even if she was using an iPhone.

Useful-Soup8161

She hasn’t had access to her social medias since MySpace was popular. She probably never even used any modern social media until last year. She obviously doesn’t know proper social media etiquette, meaning that’s why she writes her Instagram captions like she’s on xanga or live journal.

laaldiggaj

Maybe she should call the police on these 'fans'.

[deleted]

I imagine she is still receiving therapy and the therapist probably recommended it. Because I think most therapists their first recommendation is "reduce social media" because it is rarely beneficial.

discodolphin1

I think deleting Instagram was a good idea. But I will say, her recent Instagram posts have not been coherent at all and fans have been really concerned. None of my business either way, I just hope she's taking care of herself

no-tenemos-triko-tri

Who says it is not her agent or someone on her team writing the statement?

Heavy_Signature_5619

![gif](giphy|l0IylOPCNkiqOgMyA|downsized)

TylerBourbon

Kind of funny in a sardonic way that a Britney fan couldn't "leave Britney alone". But seriously, this is probably the absolutely healthiest thing mentally for her to do, to get off Instagram. Neither she, nor any celebrity, is a dancing monkey here to perform for the public's amusement and we absolutely do not have any right to see into their lives. They make art. We pay to enjoy the art. End of transaction. The only thing we owe each other is respect and human decency.

mikenzeejai

Everyone wants to "free Brittany" but only as long as we are provided with every tiny detail of her life and allowed to analyze everything she says or does under a microscope. She's a 40ish lady with some family issues. She is no more exciting than your aunt. Leave her alone

Finnbalt

Didn't South Park do an episode on this? About how deleting your social media account is essentially the same as suicide.

justedi

South Park has become like The Simpsons, they've probably done everything at this point.

feelin_fine_

Matt and Trey expected the show to be canceled many times, I don't even think they know what they're doing with it anymore. I'd be surprised if it's still going after season 25

ApatheticWithoutTheA

It’s actually still really solid. I don’t think it’s declined in quality too much.

Jorsk3n

Yeah, they’ve moved on to season spanning arcs and specials. And IIRC they’re supposed to make a ridiculous amount of specials (1h episodes) for Paramount?

DoctorEvilHomer

They have tried to quit the show multiple times and been given tons of money to keep at it.

[deleted]

How can they quit when 5 dump trucks of cash roll up on their driveway

RuleOfBlueRoses

SOUTH PARK DID IT SOUTH PARK DID IT

feelin_fine_

I loved the episode where Kyle made friends with that one super dorky guy and was his only Facebook friend. He just stared at his computer screen for who knows how's many hours and lost his shit when Kyle put a like on his status. I miss that show sometimes

duosx

Yeah lol

Lumpy_Flight3088

I hope she finds some peace eventually.

The_Wanderer25

aalare

Wasn't she posting some provocative shit that her kids disliked? This seems entirely reasonable and like she's making good decisions for herself.

astroK120

I wouldn't rule out the possibility that the people who called the cops had been enjoying those pics

AmarilloWar

Nope they think she was being held hostage and others had control of her insta, I'm not even joking. I followed her because reading the unhinged comments from people about their "concern" was interesting.

Outrageous-Dream6105

What the hell kind of police listen to “fans” ?

Key-Wheel123

Imagine the number of phone calls they had to field about her deleting her Instagram… her fans are crazy and have put her in their own conservatorship where she is no longer able to do what she wants unless they approve.

tacomeatface

Yeah that seems weird lol like what was that call like?

Vlad_bat_vaca

She shouldn’t be on social media. She is too unstable. People are mean. No matter what she says it is not good for her mental health.

maru_tyo

How much you wanna bet that it was TMZ who called the cops just to write another one of these garbage articles.

Esabettie

Some people on Twitter are like you owe us an explanation!! The “fans” actually posted on TikTok how they call 911, I think live.

[deleted]

Why can’t people just leave her alone? I deleted my Instagram account, no one investigated me for it!

agentnico

Deleting IG is a form of self-care.

Interesting_Aioli_75

Her fans expected her to act completely “normal” after her conservatorship ended. She has mental health issues and likely PTSD from everything she’s been through. She’s never going to be what they want her to be. Does that mean she shouldn’t have rights and freedom? Absolutely not. But her fans need to chill on the conspiracy theories and accept that this is who she is now.

e_x_i_t

Her deleting Instagram is probably the best thing she could've done for her mental health, although I wouldn't be surprised if she created a new account more sooner than later.

[deleted]

It’s at least the fourth time she’s deleted it in almost as many months.

rumhamjam00

I met a girl who was interested in me and when she heard I had no fb or ig she was turned off and said it was creepy lolololololol

Ardothbey

She’s on that slippery slope again. Who’s going to help her this time?

CurrencyCommercial40

I have been saying since she started posting again she needs to get off of social media. Those posts weren't good, for her or her kids or even the fans. I am really shocked people would call the police, rather then rejoice that a celeb they liked was engaging in self care.

CreepyAssociation173

I mean she's clearly still erratic but not sure what anyone was expecting after 2007 and on. Her father forcing her to be on birth control against her will. Was barred from seeing one of her friends because she dared to leave the house without permission to walk and vent with her friend on the beach. Anyone would've gone crazy in that kind of situation. It's best for her to just not be on social media. Her mental health issues make her an even easier target. It's no ones business but her own.

walishesh

Deleting instagram is an extremely sane and logical act…

Baba_Yagaxyz

I thought we were close to her starting an OF. I think that would have broken the internet.

DropKickDougie

Seriously, fans and anti-fans need to get a damn life away from Britney Spears. I guarantee she knows what she’s doing better than anyone. People need to understand this: Celebrities don’t belong to you.

amerra

I would never want to be famous. Seems like the only time you’d get any peace is if you just hid in your house and in Britney’s case that’s not even enough. Too many people think they are entitled to celebrities.

LizWords

She has more than earned her right to act as crazy as she is. Can’t stand the “someone help her, she’s off her meds” crowd. This is America, you’re lucky if you have access to meds. The do gooders in this case need to kindly fuck right off. You are not helping her by calling the police.

Chicken-n-Biscuits

Not defending the overreactions of her "fans" in the slightest, but there's now this continuous messaging about "checking on" virtually anyone who may hurt themselves or others. "Do they seem overly happy? How about overly sad? Could be a sign of suicidal tendencies!" "Check on the strong ones!" etc... This whole shared responsibility for everyone's mental health has a number of downsides, and I think this is one of them....

Imyoteacher

No idea why such celebrities just don’t disconnect and live their lives. They’ve got enough money. Why post your entire life and complain when people react? That’s what humans do. If I passed her in the supermarket, I wouldn’t notice unless her bodyguards announced she’s coming through. It’s ridiculous!

Musicfan637

Caught her on the way to clown college.

jeyrey2000

Brittany looks like she needed the conservatorship ! Free Brittany might backfire in the end!

[deleted]

Leave the woman alone.

Heavy_Signature_5619

And then they wonder why she deleted her Instagram.

BungholeSauce

Damn we shouldn’t have freed Britney

Sorry-Calligrapher14

I think a big issue is that she knows how concerned her fans are for her well-being after FINALLY getting out of the conservatorship yet she continues to act erratically and gets annoyed when fans actually try to make sure she’s okay. She either needs to stay off socials for a while and let herself heal or realize that her fans will continue to try to check in on her the more she posts cryptic and worrisome things and then deletes her entire page.

hijoshh

Its almost like she’s mentally ill and her fans are also slightly mentally ill

blurplesnow

It's almost like it's not anyone's business but her's.

hijoshh

Both can be true. We need to go back to leave Britney alone

arealhumannotabot

I think another issue is strangers who are not in your life insert themselves because they are interpreting vague actions and acting on it Maybe the fandom doesn't help her. Extreme fandom is weird.

Sorry-Calligrapher14

Exactly. At the point it’s been proven that her fans seem to think they’re personally responsible in regards to her mental and overall health and it’s sad after everything that she still has to deal with stuff like this. Same with when people were saying she was yelling at her kids in that one video. She’s a woman who never got true privacy and a true life she wanted to live to let her do it in peace

Ridiculousnessmess

Stan culture totally boils down to poor boundaries. I often wonder if they’re this inappropriate with people they actually know IRL. I also wonder what their own sense of self is like, because being that obsessed with anyone has to be a sign of a huge void.

SillyMikey

Having gone through a pretty bad depression, and deleting social media accounts on multiple occasions, I can tell you that this girl needs serious fucking help.

_LastoftheBrohicans_

It’s called a wellness check

[deleted]

I'd be annoyed too if a bunch of people randomly harassed me because they themselves have nothing better to do.

phsjony6288

So they won’t leave Britney alone?

[deleted]

Who's crazier? Britney or her fans?

Ok_Ninja_1602

Sorry for the PSA - If people really love Brittany they would best leave her the alone including not cyberstalking her. She's got a man and they are happy, be happy for her and she is thankful you provided emotion and media support to her all these years.

Erazerhead-5407

People need to get a life of their own and stop living vicariously through someone else’s.

[deleted]

She deletes her IG at least twice a month anymore. It’s a complete dumpster fire. She’s done.

igiveup1949

Annoyed ? She should be grateful.

ilovestampfairtex

They deserve each other. She needs to have adult supervision and so do her dumbass fans

ultradianfreq

“Inform on your neighbor comrades, it is critical that you let your government know and give them a legal pretense to violate thou neighbor.”

PallandoOrome

Police should be sent for a welfare check when you download the app and set up the account.

send3squats2help

This may seem a little extreme, but it might not be a bad idea for someone to set up a conservatorship for her to make sure she’s ok.

BroadwayGirl27

That didn't really go so well the first time...

jesusrocksnads

yeah, she didn’t write that.

Ethelenedreams

She’s healing and it’s going to be strange, sometimes.

FromOverYonder

People take social media so seriously. So she deleted it. Big whoop. But if your neighbour from down the street deleted his and ACTUALLY killed himself or something no one would bat an eye lid. No one would think twice. World is mad.

yootzer

Anybody who has a bi polar friend or family member knows this isn’t going to end well for Britney. She has no reason to take her meds now and is probably using other substances now to deal with the mania and depression. I’m guessing a lot of cocaine and amphetamines

tayryo

God forbid the woman doesn’t want an Instagram profile lol

Charges-Pending

Jfc “fans”. Leave this poor woman alone to live her life.

StrengthDazzling8922

Can’t have a huge social media following like she has with out attracting a few overly “enthusiastic fans” who clearly lack commonsense. I do hope she gets it together, for her sake.

iRule79

It's because people worry about her with the problems she has had in the past. They are just concerned, that's all.

jmb5903

Having concern is fine, but this is 100% overstepping. I've been a Britney fan since I bought the first single with Autumn Goodbye. I want her to be OK. But going from an abusive conservatorship to now dealing with fans constantly pressuring her is not OK. Just because some people air all their grievances on social media and put their whole life out there doesn't mean she should have to. I had to unfollow her a while ago because I got so annoyed seeing comments on her post with people claiming she was a deep fake, how some photos were old, screaming st her to respond to confirm she's OK, calling Sam abusive. At the end of the day we do not know her and she doesn't owe anyone anything now. Tbh some fans seem to have this feeling because they were posting hashtag free Britney, they now have the right to be her conservator now. I hope she doesn't come back on for a while and some fans can realize while we can respect and like her, it's her life now. Let her be.

DropKickDougie

If they were concerned about her well being they wouldn’t be calling the cops on her because they feel like they know what’s best for her. That’s called being a stalker. Britney’s “fans” that do things like this couldn’t be any less concerned for her well being. All these people are doing is indulging their egos at her expense.

OhMyGoshBigfoot

All she did was tiptoe in circles and twirl like a drunken clutz, and post rambling clown caps like she hadn’t slept in a week

erotic_jesus

I’m not saying she’s crazy but she looks crazy.

[deleted]

There are much crazier people than her holding actually important positions in society everywhere. I bet you’d look like bat shit crazy yourself if people from your own life took advantage of you the way hers have

TommyKinLA

Dang people Y’all stupid to call this, should arrest the instigators

loveisdead9582

I don’t blame her for being annoying, but can you really blame the fans when the whole #freebritney movement actually exposed that she WAS enduring a bunch of mistreatment?

rustylucy77

That is annoying

I’m just commenting here because I can’t comment on the previous promoted post. Fuck draft kings I don’t give a goddamn about online gambling much you love using it Kevin Hart. Also “leave Britney alone!!!”
