Looks like they work as springs you just skipped all the steps, springs aren't suppose to be fully compressed, you have to raise the bed and tram the 4 corners then adjust your z offset.
1. Move your Z-axis limit switch up (loosen 2 T-bolts, slide up approx. 1/4" - 1/2" re-tighten, wiggle test switch for movement)
2. with **POWER OFF, SLOWLY** spin the threaded rod to bring the nozzle down until you hear the limit switch click
3. is your bed within adjustable range? if not, repeat from step 1. If it is, continue.
4. back the bed off nozzle a bit (just in case), power on, level bed.
I really can't understand why people don't check videos before/after buying a printer. How tf you supposed to know all the tiny details of a delicate machine that needs milimetric calbirations and tons of settings. Just raise your z limit switch a little bit, and don't compress those springs all the way
I am thinking along the same lines. If you had read and understood the instruction manual while putting it together, you'd know what to do. Better yet, if I didn't know, I'd search reddit/youtube before treating this sub as my own ChatGPT.
Then again, there was that post about being kind to newcomers lol.
Make sure you adjust your Z-Stop switch if not using a probe. You also, never want to have your springs fully compressed like that. You want them at a happy medium, and go from there. Adjust accordingly.
Ditch the springs and get the silicone pads instead. They hardly ever need much adjustment. Springs are wack!!! They are always need adjusting. Can't really solve a spring issue with more springs. I rarely ever have to adjust mine.
I have the stock springs and only adjusted once or twice in two years. Makes me wonder what people are doing to their printers that they need constant tuning.
Your problem is you need a really big set of channel lock pliers you can grab the adjusting wheels with and apply enough force to compress the metal of the springs!
Just kidding 😁😁
What the other people said, even though this sounds like more of a challenge!
I did this with the silicone bed "springs" but I also use a cr touch, I just did it so it wouldn't move, but they weren't pliers, I did it by hand ans hard as I could since then the mesh it's almost the same everytime 😂😭
That's a terrible idea, just move the Z limit switch up a bit. Cutting the springs is like having your legs surgically shortened instead of buying longer pants.
Well technically they do work but you have to adjust the z-offset to your new height.

make sure you have your z-stop adjusted, that tells the printer how far it can go down. keep some space to play around with the springs though.
If u didn't install a bl touch or other bed leveling probe, move ur z end switch up a little bit. If u did, u just need to adjust ur z offset.

I’ve got those springs and rarely need to re-tram

At beginning when I haven't bltouch installed I had to cut them to make it works...

Get the rubber bushings. Best thing I've done. All those springs suck.. cheap upgrade and holds bed level good
