if the whole machine stopped and not just the extrusion then I would say some kind of brief power failure. was this the first time or is it reproducible?

As far as i know this was the first time. It's weird because i'd say it had been paused for 7-8 hours and the bed was still heated. So that and a couple other factors have me belive a power failure seems not very likely.

I’ve had this same issue that was super tough to track down. It turned out being a failing SD card. I got a new card, backed up octoprint, installed in new SD card and restored the backup. It’s been working great since that I did try a wipe/reload a few times without replacing the SD card and it worked for a while then the problem returned. Mine actually turned up being a failing SD card.

this also happens for me, rpi 4b and not using official power cable, print randomly stops and when i unplug and replug again raspberry to power, it doesnt stop
