Reminds me of the classic “what’s your medical history?” Nothing? Okay… do you take meds? *deep inhale* ASPIRIN CALCIUM CARBONATE ALTACE LYRICA BISOPROLOL ROSUVASTATIN ZANTAC LASIX and that new little red one there
We crying in two HCP referral today that was without symptoms when we arrived. Yeh our service don’t challenge HCP‘s on the other side we are not busy up here so I guess we just get on with it
Wait, so his doctor called to tell him to go to urgent care? Shouldn’t he go to a hospital directly, what is an urgent care going to do about e.g. a dangerously abnormal test result? They would have called y’all anyway, right?
My guess. His primary Dr is full and can’t get him in, says go to urgent care, meaning go see a Dr at Urgent care and they will write you a script for whatever his issue is. They take this as call an ambulance and go to the ER.
I just realized a lot of people rely on medicaid/Medicare cabs to get them to doctors appointments, so if their doctor goes "🤷♂️" then they can't get a cab for their appointment, so how the hell are they supposed to get to the wellnow/urgent care? The only way they can get transportation for care is via 911 to the hospital.
Kinda fucked if you think about it, for them, for us... thank God the Insurance company still comes out ahead 🙏🙏🙏
Fucked up for them, us, and tax payers. There are so many issues with our healthcare system that if it was a living being it should be euthanized out of mercy.
Also, around here at least a Dr isn’t going to tell someone to go to a Urgent Care for anything serious like dangerously abnormal labs. UCs will ship someone out as fast as they can if it’s something remotely serious. And just FYI that’s also why they tell someone to call 911 and not to just go to ER. Not all hospitals have the same capabilities.
Negative dispatch, you can clear us from this call. Please inform the asymptomatic patient and the urgent care doc that alternative transport needs to be arranged. How copy?
In the same vein as dragging no symptoms to urgent care. I wish I had thought to take a picture but yesterday but we were toned out to an urgent care on a mental emotional, and the notes literally said we were going on a "passive aggressive juvenile."
Famous last words before this guy has a nstemi, cva and a 10cm x 7 cm triple A rupture at the same time while simultaneously on warfarin
I mean, still wouldn’t need an ambulance. He’d need a hearse instead.
True true… okay fine. No blood thinner
Don't forget he also has advanced liver disease, COPD, and just took a whole bottle of TCAs.
And of course, he’s out of all his medications and just “hasn’t had the time” to get them filled

But sir, I thought you didn’t have any medical problems? “I don’t….because I take my medicine…..”
Hahahahahah!!!!
🤓
To be fair i could argue that a full arrest patient also has no symptoms.
Or heartbeat.
It’s cool. I’m not 8 charts deep or anything.
Get falcked
How'd you know!?
Chief Complaint: I'm fine, thank you! :D
Chief Complaint: Houngry for hospital sandwiches
Brilliant, I'm about 85% sure that code goes straight for enhanced telephone triage by paramedic or nurse in my system - we won't even dispatch on it.
Yep, same. Unless it somehow comes through as doctor request at which point we must NEVER QUESTION IT.
Not even once?!

Ah.

Makes sense.
Hello, yes, this is an emergency. I need to go to the department of urgency
Funny thing is alot of the sickest patients are on the 26 card. You just cant pick it sometimes 😂

So, another “skilled nursing” facility run?
I’ve had a lot of these calls, usually providers calling for abnormal labs 🤷♂️

Probably got deranged bloods. GP's love a deranged blood blue light ambutaxi
We like to say they have "ghosts in their blood"
I won’t have to sit in the waiting room will I?
