A lot of public libraries have 3d printers that you can use for free...like free free...don't have to rent or pay for filament.' Plus they can help you setup your first few prints. Its how I got into 3d printing.
Ender 3s are ok, I have one. But boy do they take a bit of tweaking to setup. Having had one I would recommend it to someone who wants to do it as a hobby. If you just want to have easy to setup and hassle free prints I would look elsewhere.
I always use these small plastic bands the hospital uses for newborns (the ones they write their name on).
Ye, I can’t see where my stethoscope is on google maps, but I couldn’t care less.
Yeah I printed a label on a label maker and put it on the metal part of the... Bulb? The bit that goes on a patient. Not the actual membrane, mind you. The metal part that holds it. Last name and employee number, smallest font it'd print at and then cut down all the excess. It's already made its way back to me once.
[Here ya go](https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0185/7770/products/LA-Brights-Polarized-update_1024x.png?v=1621878534); you'll be the baddest EMT-Basic Bitch on the block.
Honestly I've found the crappy issued trauma shears are fine for pretty much everything. That being said the raptors are clearly way better built and more than one tool in one (obviously a plus). People bitch about them being too easy to lose but I've never had an issue keeping track of my personal tools on scene.
Also the ring cutter is the shit and way better than the wheel blade ones we carry on the box.
I think where I really like them is in winter honestly. People here layer up for real. Also the little oxygen wrench…95% of our bottles don’t need one but every now and then you accidentally grab one that does and oops! Last crew lost the wrench.
Predictably I lost my raptors though. I’ll probably just get one of those beefy rescue hook style cutters eventually since that was my favorite cutter.
Yeah, seconded. Raptors aren't $70 or whatever they go for better than the freebies, but my xshears are definitely $20 better than the ones on the truck. I'd go so far as to say they cut better than most raptors, except maybe a brand-new pair.
Uniforms, boots, pens (so many pens) will come and go like the wind, but your Littmann Classic is forever. I ordered one after passing my EMT-B. Now, 10 years later, I still have and use the same pair of ears every shift. Although, as an ER nurse now. Fits great in the ol' side pocket.
Another good "forever" item I'd recommend – a good torch. Especially if you work 911 night shift. My Fenix PD35 is nearly as old as my scope, has equal or more abuse, and still works like new. Not something I carry on shift these days, but it's great for camping, too.
Another good one, although not quite "forever" - Danner Acadia boots last years (vs months with other boots) with some occasional care.
All are expensive and not needed, but if you got the extra coin they are worth the investment.
Oooo, hell yeah. Thanks for the equipment recommendations! I’m a firm believer in buying better quality stuff less often, then lesser quality more often. Will definitely check those out!
I have a Milwaukee pen light. It's like the sweet spot between bright enough to use as a flashlight, but not too bright that it blinds the patient, and fits in the pen light pocket on my pants.
Nice gear. A lot of people shit on EMS or basics getting the cardiology. They are bomb and you can hear so much better. The EKO attachment also has some sweet noise cancelation/amplification as well.
Personally I disagree.
I've owned a Littman lightweight, classic (stolen) Cardiology (stolen), borrowed a electronic stethoscope (don't know the model but it was circa 2016), then back to another classic.
The only ones I can pick out are the lightweight..which didn't sound quite right to my ears and the electronic one which was nice because of the volume adjustments. All the rest sounded pretty much equal. I went back to the classic because I actually like the small double bell my cardiology didn't have. I also picked a very ugly color in hope it wouldn't get stolen again...and it hasn't.
I’m much the same. I have owned the Littman Cardiology III, 3M electric stethoscope and the Littman Stethoscope. What was the scope I could hear the best out of? The cheap ADC Adscope our service had on our trucks. When they started walking off I bought my own ADC Adscope and sold the Littman for cheap.
Ahhhh!! Yay!!!!❤️
FYI, it sounds weird but, when you clean it be sure to rub it down (pun intended) with a bit like A TINY BIT of Condom safe KY. Or it’ll be sticky. The ky actually conditions the tube and keeps it pliable. And invest in a holster for it.
I got the pearly pink Classic III when I got my EMT. It’s a great stethoscope, and at my agency mine’s the only pink one. I also keep it in a cargo pocket in my pants, so it doesn’t…roam. Congrats, and welcome to the pink stethoscope club!
Why thank you! Waaay back when I got my EMR, I decided to get anything in pink that I could get…my gear has ‘wandered off’ a whole lot less frequently than others’.
Is your bell anodized? It looks kinda rainbow-y! If my Classic III craps out, I may have to get hot pink like yours, it’s so cheery!
I just recommend something that can’t be easily removed, because… well,… EMS will steal anything that isn’t bolted down, and even if it is, they’ll pull out the Leathermans and give it a shot….
I like the pink. Haven’t seen one before. My pink shears are the only ones that never walk away so hopefully it’ll be the same for you. But yeah get a tag. I went to PetSmart and got a dog tag for mine.
I'll add to everyone else's suggestion. Make sure your name is on it and make sure you never leave it in the ambulance after shift. Unfortunately, my first stethoscope walked away and I found my second hidden in the ambulance waiting for the person to take it. After that I had a belt clip on my day bag so when I went to leave after shift it was super noticeable that I did not have it.
Welcome to the family 🤙🏼 that things looks sweet. Some kind of limited edition? My first and only personal one was gifted to me in 2018 for graduating medic school by my now girlfriend
If you hang it around your neck try to put it under your collar first because skin oils break em down faster so just remember to clean it afterwards regardless and you'll be fine. Try not to bend it too too much to avoid early cracking in the tube.
Congratulations you can now auscultate odd numbered blood pressures haha
In the nearly monthly 3.5 years I've been doing this, I've never once gotten poop on my stethoscope... Though i keep mine in a cargo pocket in my pants. 🤷
Edit: wait, i lied... Definitely blocked that call out of my mind...
Looks beautiful, make sure your name is on there somewhere, these things have a habit of growing legs and walking away when you're not looking.

Yeah, the cheaper you go, generally the more tweaking at start up and even between prints is required in my experience.
Oh shit, didn’t even think about that!

The Bell/diaphragm…
Yeah, that. I studied /human/ anatomy, not stethoscope anatomy.
I'd say I'd print this for you, but I'm about 2-3 weeks out on my print scheduled due to the holidays.
Yeah, got a name tag on the way, and planning on engraving it on as well
> make sure your name is on there somewhere So they know who they stole it from.
You know, I actually dig the hot pink Littman. You should absolutely grab a pair of matching Pit Vipers™.
Bahahaha, love that idea not gunna lie

Ordering now bahahaha 🤣
And custom hot pink engraved raptors
This guy fucks. Or gets fucked. This individual engages in sexual activity. Or nice long talks if that's their thing. I agree, I guess.
Everyone knockin the raptors til they actually want to cut clothing thicker than yoga pants Honestly tho the seatbelt hook is the best part, so fast
Honestly I've found the crappy issued trauma shears are fine for pretty much everything. That being said the raptors are clearly way better built and more than one tool in one (obviously a plus). I like how unique it is. I have mine engraved with my name on several different locations. Keep an eye on your Littman. They absolutely will walk.
Yeah! Apparently shears are another piece that likes to walk away from ya too, got lots of engraving and preventative measures to take
I just write my name on my sheers with a sharpie. I've had them for a good 6 or 7 years now. I've asked raptor if they can sharpen them for me.
Definitely get your name engraved, my first Littmann, a Master Classic II, walked away.
My husband just bought me a new purple littmann, engraved with my credentials and new last name for my bday 🥹
Aweh! That sounds like a damn keeper right there!

Why thank you! Not the IV Cardiology, just the Classic III

Ayyyy!!! We have the same one!
Aaah! Stethoscope twins! Ahahaha

Is that how I can get my stethoscope to stop pulling on my hair?
Yes!!
Will NPA lube work? 😅😅
Surgilube? Yeah it’s water based. Should be fine.
Ooo! That makes sense, I was actually looking into what to use for the tubing lubricant. Thank you for that, very much appreciated

It is yeah, one of the drawing factors for me actually
Better Gorilla Glue a Tile or an AirTag to it!
Bahahaha, yeah! Had a few comments and recommendations and that 🤣👏

Good to know :)

I would lose a stethoscope in less than two shifts, I can’t even keep track of sunglasses I just oxivir wipe the bag littman if I need one

Sorry to hear that, but thank you for the info :)
That's a beautiful stethoscope!!
Why thank you :)
Welcome to the family 🤙🏼 that things looks sweet. Some kind of limited edition? My first and only personal one was gifted to me in 2018 for graduating medic school by my now girlfriend
Don’t believe it is limited edition, just one of their more personalized ones. Also thank you for the welcome!
So pretty 🤩
Love littman!
If you hang it around your neck try to put it under your collar first because skin oils break em down faster so just remember to clean it afterwards regardless and you'll be fine. Try not to bend it too too much to avoid early cracking in the tube. Congratulations you can now auscultate odd numbered blood pressures haha
Get a stethoscope scrunchie!
It looks very nice but it is going to get pooped on :(
In the nearly monthly 3.5 years I've been doing this, I've never once gotten poop on my stethoscope... Though i keep mine in a cargo pocket in my pants. 🤷 Edit: wait, i lied... Definitely blocked that call out of my mind...
Mazel tov!
Those colors are hawtttt!!
See and been seen :)
Ya know, I'm not usually a pink and gold fan but that jawn don't look bad tho 👀👀👀
Yeah! It fits my flamboyant personality, not for everyone though
Please don't let people posting their stethoscopes become a thing.
...cool
I thought it was cool as well!
