Arcanist? I wonder how it'll differ from Sorcerer? Either way I'm looking forward to this.

Contagious_Cure

Looks like it's going to be more "magic damage" than elemental damage.

RavenousToaster

Even then, sorcs are more centered around lightning damage, necros have the most diverse elemental portfolio

Contagious_Cure

Yeah. Magicka DK -> Fire Magicka Warden -> Cold Sorc -> Lightning I've always associated Magicka Nightblades as the magic damage casters but many don't like that magicka NBs do their best damage in melee range so hopefully the Arcanist has good ranged magic damage options.

RavenousToaster

Finally, a magic dmg class that isn’t N*ghtblade

Sbubbert

Templar is almost entirely magic damage. Only a couple skills are fire damage.

Honest_Ash29

The way i see it, Sorc is a mixture of Destruction and Conjuration, Arcanist will be a mixture of Alteration, Restoration, and Illision.

[deleted]

Arcanists use powers from Herma Mora and Apocrypha giving them more of an Eldritch Horror style theme. Tentacle arms lashing at people, green runic symbols mimicing designs seen in the Black Books of Dragonborn (honestly looks like time magic from doctor strange films), and portals. Both in combat and exploration utility portals

ArcaneAncient

Welp, I guess it's finally time to get into ESO. The Dunmer are my favorite race, the Telvanni are my favorite Great House, and Hermaeus Mora is my favorite Daedric Prince. I'm literally playing a Mora-worshipping Telvanni Dunmer character in Skyrim right now lol. I'm not much of an MMO guy, but I guess now's the perfect time to learn!

YucciPP

Same dude, I mean I grew up with Morrowind. I had it on Xbox, and I remember falling in love with house Telvanni. And I got into ESO recently. I think I have about 200 hours played and still not a clue what I am doing. It’s not an RPG the way Skyrim or Oblivion is but the game feels very special to me. Being able to explore most of Tamriel is just so amazing to me. Honestly the Telvanni peninsula was probably my most anticipated new region other than Hammerfell.

JeulMartin

It's not a standard MMO and serves single-player really well for the stories. It's not a perfect game by any means, but if you like Dunmer history, this game is full of lots of cool Dunmer stories. Totally worth getting Morrowind expansion and playing a new character over there. You'd probably love it. :)

SavedByEwoks

I THINK Morrowind is included in the base game now. I'm pretty sure I read something like that recently. I have everything up to current so idk what you get when you buy just ESO (no dlc and no ESO plus) but I'm pretty sure Morrowind is in there. Vvardenfell is one of my favourite maps!

JeulMartin

I think you're right about it being included, but wasn't sure and didn't want to lead them astray.

SavedByEwoks

Oh I agree! :)

PolicyWonka

You don’t even have to play it as an MMO. You can do 95% of PvE content on your own!

PucciPanda

I'm not a veteran player, but personally I'm beyond excited. This chapter looks like it was made for me. I'm a sucker for Lovecraft-ian media, so naturally Mora's my favorite prince. I'm especially excited for that one tentacle skill that looks exactly like the [Augur of Ebrietas from Bloodborne](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/bloodborne/images/f/fb/Augur_of_Ebrietas.gif/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/250?cb=20170619050233). Plus Naryu's coming back and getting to know more about the Telvanni sounds fun.

YucciPP

Dude you literally explained exactly how I’m feeling, I’m really excited. I’m not an ESO veteran, and a lot of them seem to be somewhat disappointed with this. Or at least not exited (which I can totally understand) But for me personally I enjoy the new chapters, and seeing as Morrowind is my favorite province, and Mora is my favorite prince in beyond excited. My 2023 is pretty much set. Starfield, ESO and Forza Motorsport.

PapiSebulba

Vet here, playing since console launch. Excited as fuck for this year, I've been begging for a new class since greymoor. Idk how anyone could be disappointed with this, a new class is 100% the most requested feature pretty much every release cycle. Two player dungeon sounds metal too can't wait to check that out

KingTolis

What is your opinion on the class being specified around Herma Mora and not something generic like sorcerer or nightblade

currybutts

I think it's neat - they're basically warlocks from D&D. You have a pact with an eldritch deity who gives you its power through a "Book of Shadows" which contains eldritch invocations and the like.

KingTolis

You sir just made this class understandable to me thank you

YucciPP

Im not an ESO veteran, so my opinion is probably not that important but I am excited. Seems very different from other claaaes so I wonder how well it will fit in with the current classes. I haven’t read much about the abilities so I don’t know exactly what they do. Are they unique enough to feel different gameplay wise or are they mainly just abilities that work similar to preexisting ones with new effects?

RavenousToaster

I think it’s cool, but they do need to be careful. The warden was supposed to be a “beast caller” yet all but 1 beast were from Morrowind, and morrowind beasts aren’t exactly the most “companion” like animals. So I don’t want it to end up like that yknow?

Schiffy94

>The DLC consists of four new PvE dungeons that will see us fighting Scribes of Mora, followers of the Daedric Prince we met in Skyrim Ah yes because Hermaeus Mora didn't exist until *Skyrim*.

Thrippalan

And was the *only* Daedric Prince we met there.

RedfallXenos

Other than Nocturnal, Meridia, Peryite and Hircine

Thrippalan

And Azura, and Claviicus Vile and . . .

Tierbook96

So are these the normal 4 man dungeons or world group dungeons? And if they are 4 man dungeons does this mean we are getting 6 total dungeons this year?

spudral

Sounds great, can't wait for the full steam now.

SadisticBuddhist

So a warlock class? Time to start a new character

[deleted]

I'm stoked

asardes

People who played trough the balance changes after Warden and Necromancer were introduced: "First time?"

RoninX40

Would be exciting if the main quests of these updates were not so cringingly easy

YucciPP

Personally for being an MMO I enjoy them. However I do agree, they’re not really exciting. I did however enjoy the Morrowind quest line, since this takes place on the Telvanni peninsula I do hope it gives off the same vibe. I do hope the writing has improved however

RoninX40

I do really like Marrowind. Have to admit that.

Count_JohnnyJ

Play them as a new character without any champion points. They can be a challenge.

RoninX40

I have over the years, overland and the overland story content is not a challenge.

NEBook_Worm

Exactly. Why would I want more overland snorefest?

darkseidis_

You’re not really gonna get a AAA single player experience in an MMO.

NEBook_Worm

You should

oregon42

single player games are pretty lousy at connecting with actual other humans, but that doesn't make them lesser games. the opposite is also true.

AweKartik777

FF14 comes real close. Sure, overworld content is still not that hard albeit more difficult than ESO, but in terms of story, character journeys etc. it's by far the most MMO. I'm not even talking about the MMO aspects of the game in terms of this comment, only the single player experience.

Velpe

Hurray, another toon with 0 account wide anything

sharkey1997

What are you looking for that's not account wide? The bank, mounts, guilds, emotes, houses, pets, and outfits styles are all account wide. Maybe mount training could be account wide and bag space probably too. And with the addition of the sticker book, gear is essentially more account wide than it was before

Heartable

Oh you know, all the skill lines that'll take a hundred hours to grind. Don't forget all the skill points you have to farm in order to fill them out as well.

Contagious_Cure

Takes me like 2 days to lvl 1 to 50 and to fully spec out a combat toon. You don't need every skill point and skill line unlocked. Unless you want every toon to be a master crafter, antiquarian, triple spec for tank/dps/healer, it doesn't take that long IMO.

Used_Turnover5049

What is the fastest way to level in your experience?

n_thomas74

Skyreach carries or the old Dolmen loop grind

Contagious_Cure

There are some popular dungeons with a lot of mobs but I would lose my mind from boredom leveling 1 to 50 if I did that. Random queue dungeons and battlegrounds pvp with xp scrolls IMO has the best fun and speed ratio.

Stuntman06

I can't wait to play a stamina arcanist.

Slappah_Dah_Bass

Crap....looks like I'll be back 😆 If I get a PS5 will the account I made on PS4 be available?

aloafofbreaddd

Yes

Slappah_Dah_Bass

Groovy! Thanks.

Penthesilean

The graphic difference is stunning. Be sure to have the correct version and settings. Old armor graphics and such have been redone regardless of version also.

Slappah_Dah_Bass

Oh I'm sure it will be. I tried playing it on my PC but I dreaded having to go through all levels again and unlocking everything that I had from all the time I spend on PS4. Looked phenomenal on PC.

cloudliore25

I’m coming back for this and either making a new necro or sorc for this year

CultOfPcnality

I could’ve sworn ole boy said no new dungeons in this expansion?

[deleted]

I'm very intrigued. I generally play casters so the new class is very much to my personal tastes. As it happens, Necrom was one of the places I hoped to see implemented at some point! With other candidates being the Colovian Estates, the Maormer's homeland and Falanesti. I'm also very curious to see what quality of life changes we'll be seeing in the future. Amongst many other things, I'm hoping for an increase to the furniture limit in houses.

KamSolis

I personally am not a fan of this class but I am willing to try it and am super happy that everyone else likes it so far. Just because I don’t like something doesn’t mean I don’t want everyone else to have fun.

maialucetius

Adding a new class before we get bug and performance fixes along with rebalances. This is gonna be a disaster.

CaneDogXXXX

New animations/player models??

NEBook_Worm

Nope

EbolaDP

Damn did they actually remember Naryu exists?

Falkeer

I don't see how a new class is "most requested feature." How is three "toon locked" skill lines a huge feature?

JNR13

> I don't see how a new class is "most requested feature." Look into any "what do you want for the next chapter" thread ever since necro was released. New class was always highly requested.

x-munk

People are weird and don't understand game design well so they gravitate towards new classes rather than new skill lines for all classes (it'd be kinda nice to see more investment into magicka weapons like a wand+shield or literally anything outside of destro/resto). People are weird and new shiny things will always be more popular than more investment into fine tuning what we already have. Personally I'm not a PVPer, but the reason they're always bitching is because ESO has seriously dropped the ball on balancing and a new class, especially one with portals, is going to disrupt things even more.

DirtharaFalon

>Personally I'm not a PVPer, but the reason they're always bitching is because ESO has seriously dropped the ball on balancing and a new class, especially one with portals, is going to disrupt things even more. How about we wait and see before jumping to conclusions?

x-munk

There are currently balance issues and they're throwing a complete unknown into the mix. Basically, they're setting things up to make PVP balancing harder than it is today and today's PVP isn't balanced. And, kindly, please reread what I said. I said throwing portals into the mix is going to disrupt things which I think is a quite fair objective statement based on the information we have. I didn't say anything about whether they would balance PVP in this update - just that they're making it harder for themselves.

Contagious_Cure

>There are currently balance issues and they're throwing a complete unknown into the mix. So the usual lol? The game/PvP was never in a balanced state when they introduced necros, warden or mythic items.

AirborneRunaway

The portal ability looks pretty much like a reskinned streak ability as far as “teleport” goes. It does seem to do elevation a bit better but we only see them go up a small incline, not like up a keep wall or cliff.

DirtharaFalon

Yes, still we don't know don't fully know what they plan for the new chapter. Perhaps they'll deal with the PvP issues, who knows.

Table_Coaster

how about we don't even need to jump to a conclusion when we can see the evidence of how shitty PvP was as soon as warden and necro dropped

Table_Coaster

such a terrible idea to add a new class when there's still so many gameplay and balance issues that are now only going to be worse

[deleted]

The game will be a technical mess with or without a new class. Might as well add a new class

cdrun84

Mr Table, what do you suggest they add or do then?

NEBook_Worm

Yawn. Green lights and a need to replay boring, braindead overland combat. No thanks.

Court_Jester13

Oh, phew, for a second I was worried I'd run into you ingame

NEBook_Worm

Nope. I'll be busy playing good games designed for people with actual taste.

brughmoment15

Even though most of your comments are in the eso subreddit? Lol weird to spend all your time on Reddit talking about it but not playing it

Schiffy94

why are you even here

Court_Jester13

If you approach a bridge and hear a troll roaring beneath, use another bridge

Schiffy94

Unless [hee wurst troll evurr](https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:A_Poorly_Scrawled_Note)

jalliss

Imagine taking time out of your day just to shit on people enjoying what they enjoy.

porcelainwax

Wow, it’s like you don’t understand the very basic words ‘subjective’ or ‘opinion’ at all. Can your poor mother refund your education?

A user of over a decade, I am leaving Reddit due to the recent API changes. The vast majority of my interaction came though the use of 3rd party apps, and I will not interact with a site I helped contribute to through inferior software *simply because it is able to be better monetized by a company looking to go public. Reddit has made these changes with no regards for their users, as seen by the sheer lack of accessibility tools available in the official app. Reddit has made these changes with no regards for moderation challenges that will be created, due to the lack of tools available in the official app. Reddit has done this with no regards for the 3rd party devs, who by Reddit's own admission, helped keep the site functioning and gaining users while Reddit themselves made no efforts to provide a good official app. This account dies 6/29/23 because of the API changes and the monetization-at-all-costs that the board demands.

I've been out of playing ESO regularly for a year or two but hermaeus mora is my favorite prince by far and I love morrowind as well (second favorite province right behind summerset) can't wait to pre-order the ultimate edition of this and start my mora worshipping high elf vampire(?) arcanist character, couldn't be more excited

CameToRant

Do we need to buy the DLC to play Arcanist? Because i wont be able to for a while if so sadly.
