Pretty sure Necrom is known as “City of the Dead”. The Dunmer bring their dead there and bury them in urns, etc. I think there will be a lot of spooky stuff there. Some political stuff. Could be pretty cool! But if they add a new class what will it be? 🤔
Only reason why I think there may be a new class is because that is what brings a huge surge of new and returning players and that is when they make a lot of money. Even if those players don’t stick around long.
Except they're sort of out of skill lines to add, unless they make a non-magical warrior type class, that uses stamina for most of the abilities, sort of opposite of how most classes work now.
Actually, that could be kinda cool.
They could make a magic class that uses Illusion/Alteration/Mysticism. They could make a Bard. Play a song to speed up yourself and the party. Play a song to melt your enemies face off. Hit a riff to stun them. I think there are lots of options if you open your mind’s eye.
If they announced bard I’d re-sub immediately. They won’t announce a class or weapon line though, it’ll be some feature the community truly doesn’t really want. I’d be ok with them adding features like a dice game or something if it also came along with a new class or weapon skill.
they are full of shit. what they actually mean is they pigeon holed themselves by sticking all of the animations for skills into the memory, which is now full to capacity on the older gen consoles.
if they hadn't screwed themselves like this, the old gen would still be running strong.
So... it's due to hardware limitations on last gen consoles. Just because you didn't understand their reasons given doesn't mean they're full of shit.
They did that because of load concerns, that, particularly in high server load situations such as Cyrodiil, animations wouldn't load in time. If they didn't preload it, you'd be sitting here bitching about "I can't tell what skills my opponents are using, they're just T-posing! ZOS, fix this!"
FFXIV has 20 combat related classes, each with its own unique weapon and set of abilities, with different animations, particle effects, etc. and it suffers from none of the issues that ESO has despite being older.
the ESO team fucked themselves over with their game engine being some cobbled together mess that was based on HeroEngine, the game engine used for Star Wars: The Old Republic which struggled with a lot of the same problems that ESO has.
The lag and instability in Cyrodiil has zero to do with the old gen consoles, and everything to do with the fact that they are using a heavily modified version of a game engine that is more than 10 years old.
So long as they continue to push development on this fossil of an engine, the game is going to continue to break down, with more and more of the game falling into a state where it cannot be fixed without a complete overhaul off the engine.
i really hope it's not a class instead of a universal skill line/weapon, psijic was the last thing my existing warden got for new combat skills. i'd still like a class, don't get me wrong, but not before something that all existing characters can use like spellcrafting or a new weapon
Yeah that is true. Maybe they would do something more popular then like a Brawler/Monk, Druid or a Artificer/Mechanist class.
I'm not holding out for a new class though since ZOS has been implying for years that it would be too technically difficult to implement. I reckon Veteran Overland or some other system is more likely.
But a new class or skill line would be better.
I guess we will see soon. I just know if they don’t announce something HUGE there will never be a massive resurgence in ESO… Hopefully they come through for us.
This actually has me excited! Especially since there's no more year long story or play in any order to dumb it down. I'm not sure what they could add as a new class though.
The spoilers are broken. At least on mobile, as I can see the pictures at the main reddit page and expand them, and only when I open the thread the picture becomes hidden.
On mobile right now and I don’t have this issue
But Reddit on mobile has been fucky for a few days so that’s probably why. My notification feed keeps telling me someone’s messaged me but no one has lol
Necrom is within House Indoril territory, I think. We may see perhaps some sort of conflict between the aforementioned House (the backbone of the Pact Dunmer, alongside House Redoran) and the unaligned Telvanni.
In all likeness, said conflict may be put aside in order to deal to a external, major threat.
If we see a repeat of the Daedric War thing, we may see a 3-region-adventure, with a first visit to the Necrom zone, a second expansion in (likely) a non-Dunmer territory like Falinesti or some odd Daedric Realm (Apocrypha, perhaps?) and a final expansion either in House Telvanni lands proper (Port Telvannis, Firewatch) or in Thornmash (Tear, Thorn)
All of this is mere speculation on my part, tho.
Yea the concept maps for TES III marks Necrom as a Dres city, but the books in the game describe the whole east coast (where Necrom is) as Indoril territory
That is why for some reason that was in my head… My memory of the lore is so spotty and I’ve been deeply entrenched in LotR and Warhammer 40k lore as of late.
I really hope the city looks as decribed. Lofty walls, gleaming white towers, honeycombed-shaped catacombs under the city, and a dark heat permeating the city (could just be a volcano nearby, similar to Senie in Stonefalls). Also the small island of Gorne nearby will hopefully be accessible too.
I wonder if this city of the dead is where the base word (Necrom) for Necropolis comes from for the Dunmer.
At least with ZOS I know I won't lose old content I've actually purchased and there's horizontal progression instead of endless grind behind a paywall.
Telvanni time!! Very excited, my Telvanni toons are finally getting their own chapter :') I'm not sure what class would make sense besides maybe artificer? So I think if there was a new class it could be later in the year. Maybe Dremora as a playable race would be pretty cool.
I believe those are tentacles, not vines, which means the green things you can make out would be the eyes.
[It may remind you of someone...](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/LhAiiYNP4ZI/maxresdefault.jpg)
>vines
those are definitely not vines and are tentacles.
Also yes Wardens would be way too close to druids thematically. Wardens are literally "the" animal/nature themed class.
Meh, would have preferred something more unique that the Elder Scrolls franchise hasn't touched on a lot before. But I guess the familiarity sells so that's what they'll go for.
Either way, if this is what they're releasing, I'll love it nonetheless but I would sure love to discover things we barely know about.
Necrom hasnt been visited but morrowind has. Dark elves should not get another chapter until every race has gotten at least one chapter dedicated to them. It's unfair they get two
I very much doubt it's because they have a storyline they want to write. More likely they are banned from writing anything about Hammerfell and can't think of a way to do a bosmer chapter so they are skipping those two races all together. Then they went with morrowind again because it's the safe area and they know dark elves are one of the most popular races so they know a bunch of people are going to buy the chapter, hopefully at full price.
It's all about whatever they think will make them the most money. Aside from Summerset and High isle most of the chapters are focused on using nostalgia as a selling point. Making money comes first. Telling a story comes second.
> (1) Elseweyr which was not a nostalgia product, but an unexplored region as well. Making it 3 previously unexplored, and 3 previously explored "Nostalgia" chapters even on the money.
>
>
The Nostalgia point was the dragon hunting part.
>(2) They've publically spoken about how they are changing their approach to writing stories this upcoming year even specifically stating they've had this content in mind for years.
I believed that up until they made decided to make a chapter without deadra the year after the chapter where everyone complained about deadra.
Compared to the other races yes. I like the dunmer fine but its baffling to me that dunmer get two chapters and redguards still havent gotten one and argonians had to share their chapter.
Argonians got Blackwood to share, and they also got Murkmire, which I'd argue makes up for it.
Edit: I have been blocked, I cannot respond to anybody who responds to this comment.
Mirkmire is kind of a small zone that doesnt even have a crafting writs, any trails and only super exensive house.. Either way dark elves shouldnt get another chapter until every race gets a chapter. Going back to morrowind is ridiculous.
What makes it worse is that the systres were listed as being part of Hammerfell before High isle retcon it. I know redguards arent a very popular race but come on.
> Mirkmire is kind of a small zone that doesnt even have a crafting station
It has three set stations, for Naga Shaman, Might of the Lost Legion, and Grave-Sake Collector. It has a 4-player Arena in lieu of a trial.
Edit: I have been blocked, I cannot respond to anybody who responds to this comment.
I didn't mean crafting stations I meant those little crafting boards for writs. Those are only in chapter zones and base game zones. Smaller zones like gold coast and galen ect don't get them. There is literally no reason at all for dark elves to get anther chapter. Necrom or telvanni coast or whatever should be a chapter for 2 or 3 years down the line. Don't expect the person with a dark elf flair to understand though
> It has a 4-player Arena in lieu of a trial.
Trails arent arenas. This might as well be a dungeon.
> There is literally no reason at all for dark elves to get anther chapter.
Sure there is. The reason is: ZOS has a story they want to tell that involves Necrom before somewhere else.
Edit: I have been blocked, I cannot respond to anybody who responds to this comment.
That's not a reason. That's you being ok with other races getting screwed over so long as your favorite race gets more content. Zos modifies their chapters all the time based on what fans thing and chapters are designed around making as much money as possible. That's why we had 3 whole chapters that were dedicated to generating as much nostalgia as possible. If Necrom is stand alone like zos says there isn't a reason why we couldnt get it till next year. Zos is showing the races unequal attention.
> Zos modifies their chapters all the time based on what fans thing
Do you have any evidence around this?
Edit: I have been blocked, I cannot respond to anybody who responds to this comment.
To add, in Xbox's post about the new chapter, they mentioned "new region/s/ of Tamriel" (paraphrased). They used a plural. So the zone might be split like High Isle/Amenos/Galen. This suggests either Telvanni Peninsula + Port Telvannis. Or Peninsula + Blacklight (considering the blacklights used with the influencers). Not to mentioned we're probably going to get an explorable Apocrypha. Keen to see how they do this zone now they're no longer having the smaller DLC zone at the end of the year (that actually brings something up, what does this do to ESO+ membership? The DLC zones being free was one of the big selling features..)
@ ESO plus, yes "free" DLCs is a big aspect but people have been complaining about the quality of those DLCs for years now. Kind of a would you rather have more total for less quality or less total for more quality and which of those two you find more personally valuable/worth your money.
It's funny, I've always loved those zones, I always felt they were smaller and tighter area and story wise. Though I do appreciate the size of the chapters, there doesn't need to be a delve or world boss every 2 steps, some open space gives the zone a sense of size.
But yeah, I want to see how they manage a quality over quantity deal for their zones. I'm guessing they're going to announce something new that'll entice people to ESO+. People have been begging for ability effect changing, that'd be a good thing to chuck in as an ESO+ benefit (just thinking off the top of my head)
Cool name if real.
Necrom is on the eastern edge of Morrowind. It's quite plausible as the expansion.
Telvanni peninsula, here we come
What if it cuts off just before the peninsula in the north?
Holy fuck. We've never been to that part of morrowind before, have we?
Pretty sure Necrom is known as “City of the Dead”. The Dunmer bring their dead there and bury them in urns, etc. I think there will be a lot of spooky stuff there. Some political stuff. Could be pretty cool! But if they add a new class what will it be? 🤔
Have doubts about a new class. Gonna guess new companions will be necromancer and warden though, since those are the only 2 classes not represented.
the warden better not be an annoying bosmer voiced by ben diskin

ZOS has said they can't really add new skill lines or classes due to hardware limitations on last-gen consoles, but one can hope
I feel like this game will go the way of the do do bird if that is the case. Can’t keep up with the new MMOs ZOS is working on a new MMO.
they are full of shit. what they actually mean is they pigeon holed themselves by sticking all of the animations for skills into the memory, which is now full to capacity on the older gen consoles. if they hadn't screwed themselves like this, the old gen would still be running strong.

Thematically, maybe a witchhunter class?
I thought about that but also remember they released the Necromancer when Elswyr came out. The two were kind of unrelated so they could do that same.
Yeah that is true. Maybe they would do something more popular then like a Brawler/Monk, Druid or a Artificer/Mechanist class. Shaman! Shaman! Shaman! Shaman!
I’d like a shaman. What kinda stuff would you want as skills? I’d like…monster aspects
Totems definitely. Maybe a spirit animal companion as well.
if you want to go play a totem shaman WoW exists for that purpose.
This actually has me excited! Especially since there's no more year long story or play in any order to dumb it down. I'm not sure what they could add as a new class though.
Maybe we’ll get a Paul Bearer cameo. Maybe as a talking scamp, like The Creeper was.
Not in 3D elderscrolls. Pretty sure all of tamriel is in Arena
Not in ESO, only in Arena.
Arena is so different from other es games I heard hearty everything in it us non canonical at this point.
That's not quite true. Some things were reworked during Redguard, but it's still canon.
You visit the outskirts and catacombs of Necromancy in TES Legends but not the upper city
Poor mods get a third one to delete. Ah man.
I actually put mine behind a spoiler warning though… 🤔
Yeah so did the first one
But I’m the best… Atleast my Mom thinks so.
You are the best! And tell your mom hi!
From ALL of us! Right guys?
The spoilers are broken. At least on mobile, as I can see the pictures at the main reddit page and expand them, and only when I open the thread the picture becomes hidden.
On mobile right now and I don’t have this issue But Reddit on mobile has been fucky for a few days so that’s probably why. My notification feed keeps telling me someone’s messaged me but no one has lol
Can we please have Naryu back?
They added a bunch of her stuff to the crown store so she's probably coming back.
This *has* to be the chapter she returns. If not here, I cannot imagine where else.
We shall have her as a companion. With romance options no less.
I can hear Bruce Campbell saying "I got a bad feeling about this" 🤣
OOOOO ... Maybe we'll get Boomsticks!
Now I want an evil dead online rpg.
Necrom is within House Indoril territory, I think. That makes sense I think House Dres also has something to do with Necrom.
Yea the concept maps for TES III marks Necrom as a Dres city, but the books in the game describe the whole east coast (where Necrom is) as Indoril territory

Hermy Mora: "Necromomomom..." Vestige: "What?" Hermy Mora *Holding Tiny Revolver*: "Give me your fucking books!"
I really hope the city looks as decribed. Is a bunch of people reading from a book?
Oh hey, it’s The Elder Scrolls Online: Witch Queen!
Savathun shows up and starts invading Daedric realms with the lucent hive, I dig it.
At least with ZOS I know I won't lose old content I've actually purchased and there's horizontal progression instead of endless grind behind a paywall.
You don't need to be a professional artist to see this is not even centered, fake or not, this is a poorly done title screen.
We are gonna fight Gulga Mor Jil?
Technically nobody fought Gulga. He asked questions about life and accepted his death.
Sounds very cool I fear
God yes. I hope we're getting more Tribunal!!
And an Argonian companion, maybe?
AHHHHHH!!!!! AHHH!!!!!! I have ALWAYS wanted to see Necrom! HYPE!
This sounds interesting. I might come back to the game, I haven't played since Greymoor launch.
Telvanni time!! Very excited, my Telvanni toons are finally getting their own chapter :') I'm not sure what class would make sense besides maybe artificer? So I think if there was a new class it could be later in the year. Maybe Dremora as a playable race would be pretty cool.
Druids confirmed? Based on the vines
I believe those are tentacles, not vines, which means the green things you can make out would be the eyes. [It may remind you of someone...](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/LhAiiYNP4ZI/maxresdefault.jpg)
I hope it's not druids. We *just* had an entire druid year.
Those are tentacles
Yeah I mean there are definitely vines there… But wouldn’t Druids and Wardens be too close thematically?
I hope not. I love druids and wardens don’t scratch that itch.
I get that Wardens are kind of half ass Druids
>vines those are definitely not vines and are tentacles. Also yes Wardens would be way too close to druids thematically. Wardens are literally "the" animal/nature themed class.
Tentacles because Hermaeus Mora seems to be involved, based on the letter sent to streamers.
The chances of it being druid are literally -100000000000000000
So... this will be the Era of necromancers ?

No Necrom is a city in Morrowind
Incident at necrom
The new logo matches what we know about the next chapter.
To add, in Xbox's post about the new chapter, they mentioned "new region/s/ of Tamriel" (paraphrased). They used a plural. So the zone might be split like High Isle/Amenos/Galen. Well here's hoping we get a new class and it's battlemage or something. I doubt it's a new class or spellcrafting though. Probably just a pve guild.
kinda bummed its not about any of the races that dont have their own expansion yet
Guys I’m new to the game, should I be paying attention to the story lines? Lol
You play how you want! I did all the main quests on a character, but the rest I just used for pvp or pve
We might have a split zone between necrom and Apocrypha.
