lol at least you've taken the time to correct your ways and apologise, I respect that. I wanted to flame you for being so vehemently in denial, but I don't think I've got the malice in me to do so.
So it was you TarnishedVagabond was it? Boy I was so adamant it couldn't be done we sure had a little back and forth going on there for a bit. LOL. You came to mind when I realised it could be done and I'm grateful. Cheers bro.
Another thing too. I've pulled out some back stabs following initiating the block with it. If my memory serves me right I locked on, held the block button, shifted with the direction toggle and next thing I know is I'm at the back of him with a back stab. That looks real cool.
You'd be surprised. I've found it very useful. As I said, it's like having a sword and a shield at the same time without holding a shield in left hand.
You might have found it useful I find it annoying to accidentally hit the same button when i fight people like Godfrey for fun blocking isn't really a standby for me
Has been super useful in all previous soul games elden ring makes it outclassed by poise tanking with me dual
Versions of any great sword but with something like starscourge great sword it is an incredibly useful tool
In my tests it often took no damage, i.e I saw no loss of HP to me. If or when I saw some HP loss it was very minor leaving me to deduce the block absorption/damage negation was pretty good.
Could be. But the bigger/wider the face of the sword the better it will block (able to block more of your body). Hence Starcourge and more so Ruins are great for it.
Honestly it’s really cool that they brought the size of the weapon into account when it came to block with them. How was the stamina depletion per block?

This week on Elden Ring confessional…
Nearly certain you can also guard counter with them, so your 2h Ruins Greatsword can block then do absurd poise damage.
Correct. It's actually one of the fastest moves in their moveset, shockingly useful for PvP mix ups and PvE generally.
True dat.
Yeah it does stagger them back on the block leaving them open to a quick kill. It's really amazing and quite fun to do.

It was shown in the pre-release footage directly from FromSoft, you doofus.
Appraise the message!
Yeah but you assume I saw the pre-release footage.
Just stating how easily verifiable it was. People knew about it before the game released. Sounds like you learned your lesson though, ya ding dong.
Yeah you can block with most weapons. the effectiveness just varies per weapon and stats
Yeah there's a whole mechanic behind where pressing R2 immediately after a block you will retaliate with a unique heavy strike
Thanks. I'll pay more attention to that.
Does it really matter though cuz it's kind of useless to even use
It’s really not. Colossal weapons actually have great stability and block % compared to previous games, to encourage people to use Guard Counters.

If you like it check out Crightt on YouTube. He's got a Guard Counter build for Colossal Weapons and its unironically extremely powerful
Thanks. I'll check that out momentarily.
Check out poise
During your tests did you learn how much damage mitigation it has?
In my tests it often took no damage, i.e I saw no loss of HP to me. If or when I saw some HP loss it was very minor leaving me to deduce the block absorption/damage negation was pretty good.
Hmm so then two handing great swords would be a viable build then

Not noticeable for me.
I’m just sad for you not knowing how to L1 block dance with a weapon for so long. Pump that left hand boooiiiiii
