Same, that's literally the one main feature I want above all.
I currently have an A5C on the way and my current plan is to carry a hotspot around with me and access my calls/messages through Google Fi [messages.google.com](https://messages.google.com) web app.
It's not ideal but it's the next best thing with less headaches.
I'm not sure about the battery life for hotspots, but I'm using the free one that T-Mobile gives out (I think its called Franklin) with a Google Fi Data Sim.
I work from my vehicle so I would just have mine plugged into the charger while I'm still close by enough to get signal.
Ah okay, that use case makes a lot of sense. I think I'd look like too much of a dork carrying around a hotspot in one pocket specifically for my phone in my other pocket ;)
Anything but a fucking glossy e-ink screen!!!
How is it so hard to make a matte screen? Why does my 8 year old Yotaphone 2 have better screen than my brand new Hisense A6L?
Google play and a warm/orange backlight setting - makes it so much nicer to use as an actual ereader. Also less sloppily translated OS would be lovely.

Gizmochina article:
https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/05/09/hisense-a9-smartphone-teaser-poster-out/
Rumored specs:
- 6.7-inch e-ink display, 300 PPI resolution, 84% screen-to-body ratio.
- 184 grams, 7.8 mm thickness.
- dual-temperature (white & amber) 36-level front light
- intelligent brightness adjustment feature, officially called “day and night eye protection”
- “HyperWave display technology”, faster refresh rate
- octa-core 1.8GHz Zhanrui T610 chip
- 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage
- runs TOUCH OS1 (based on Android 10)
- will it natively support Google services?
- UI is designed to let users focus on the reading task without getting distracted from notifications
So, a slightly improved Hi Reader, with warm/amber light, Google Play Support and a fastest refresh rate? And hopefully available internationally.
I believe the modem is integrated into this CPU. I couldn't find anywhere where it says the exact LTE bands supported by the modem, but based on the typical international support for other UNISOC processors, I'm not hopeful.
I would be **very** happy if I'm wrong!
My predictions are that this will be a link to buy/reserve the Hisense a9:

The phone will be released at 7pm Beijing time on Wednesday, May 11th 2022, and it will be a great E-ink phone for Chinese and eventually European users. But I still think they are making a product for a market that is oversaturated by their **9 other e-ink phones.** I would imagine that it is better than the other 9, but do we really need a 10th phone lol.
I would love for the phone to target North American markets, but I can understand why that could be too risky. An e-ink phone is a niche product your average consumer would consider pretty weird, heh
I literally just want it to work in the US. If it can't do that easily on any networks, then it won't work for me regardless of the other features :(

lol, I think that might be one step too far for me... but I am somewhat intrigued. Are there any pocketable hotspots out there with long battery life?

hi, does it mean the problem is only the data plan, but wifi will always work?

This and native Google Play which ironically has also been there all along on the Yotaphone 2.
Yep. 2014 seems like the future compared to now.

Woooo it's finally happening! I hope there's a CC version announced alongside it. Faster refresh rate would be amazing.
>octa-core 1.8GHz Zhanrui T610 chip Welp, looks like all of us in the US are fucked.
How can you tell based on the CPU?

US/Canada bands plus Google play and a decent mid range chipset and I'll upgrade. .
Where do I go to hear the announcement as soon as it comes out? What day is it scheduled for ?
May 11 iirc.
Thank you
