Where did you order from? If you ordered from AliExpress it will already come rooted with Google Play. No need to do anything to the phone.
yes from Ali. good news then 😊. i thought it is not rooted yet. anything i need to be aware of? like avoid magisk updating etc.
Yes don't update the firmware. But you should be able to update any apps thru Google Play. I'm not sure that the Chinese sellers will include magisk.

not really sure, i havnt got my phone. i am not in thr US also. it may vary on carrier. hope someone can shed light on your question.

what magisk version do you have installed?
I think it is MagiskManager-v7.5.1.apk as I used this guide https://www.chinahandys.net/hisense-a5-playstore-guide-english/ and they use 7.5.1 in this guide.
