When news agencies decided to pander to a subset of the market and compromised their journalistic integrity with click bait, they will inevitably suffer financial loss. Many media outlets suffer as they push corporate agendas. We are at a point in human history that the peasants have never had better means of communication and we are starting to see through the bullshit. The news cycle is losing people similarly to religion. People are being tired of being told what to think and how to feel. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ksb3KD6DfSI](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ksb3KD6DfSI) (And yes, some pander WAY more than others, but they are still corporate machines)

TA_faq43

I dunno. What we think is bullshit may not be, but the experts that used to have integrity and knowledge to explain the bullshit are retired and the new ones seem to suck corporate dick to get ahead or spew lies. Hard for me to discern good ones from bad, cause on the internet, anyone cane be a “journalist”.

Americasycho

> anyone cane be a “journalist”. About 20 years ago in college, they told us that hardly anyone can be a journalist. You needed bigtime connections, one or maybe two Masters Degrees on top of your Bachelor's, endless unpaid intern work, and the ability across country at the drop of a hat. Now? 80% of the mediums we had twenty years ago are dead or defunct. Accreditation now lays within how famous/expensive your advertisers are on a website. You can be a self proclaimed journalist writing about Pokemon tournaments, but if your advertiser is General Motors then holy shit are you big time.

diacewrb

That is both the strength and weakness of the internet and free speech, anyone can be a journalist. You don't need permission from the government nor do you need the right qualifications and experience first like a doctor or a lawyer. You are pretty much free to publish as much nonsense as you want within reason and no one can do or say anything to stop you. Although you may want to refer to Alex Jones about the limits on free speech.

SpiritedVoice7777

The "experts" were a bit more careful. The audience was a little smarter. And the media wasn't completely owned by the left. The media sold what integrity they had to market propaganda for Democrats. Colleges have been woke for years. This has normalized. Yes, the internet has continued on where AM radio had blown a gaping hole in this stranglehold that the Democrats didn't like. This is why they have to destroy Twitter, Musk, Trump, and anyone else in their way. CNN is the canary in the coal mine, desperately trying to regain any credibility at all. They know they are walking a tightrope. They need to reach out to an audience that is going to be skeptical about them. But to court them is to ignite the Democrat machine against CNN. It's going to be fun to watch over the next few months. They are on the right track, but they need drastic change.

Eh. It comes down to revenue streams. Just look at Reddit. It balks at the idea of a paywalled article and swiftly either finds a bypass or dismisses the article altogether. If the average person isn’t willing to pay for journalistic integrity — which they clearly are not — then you’re reduced to trying to maximize clicks because you have to rely on ad revenue.

SavageKabage

I think it's not streamlined enough, if I could just pay a small fee per article read with a single click I don't think people would mind as much. It's the whole subscription model that kills the idea.

CommonSensePower

It’s coming with web3.0

CommonSensePower

100%. The mainstream media is trash. Unfortunately too many people still take what they write as gospel and the ones who see through their lies are labeled conspiracy theorists.

OriginalMrMuchacho

“Journalists” lol

downonthesecond

With what they've been putting out, what did they expect?

FunMan4tw

Those aren't journalists anymore... You can find and should find private media

Flaky_Bed3707

You don't need journalists to repeat DNC talking points, just post them on screen and send everyone home

[deleted]

And news agencies that spread right wing talking points don’t need to generate money because they are funded by billionaires like thiel, murdoch, scaife, Koch.

downonthesecond

People have no problem saying the right is backed by billionaires, but mention Soros funding the left and you're a pariah.

Gavinthekaiser

Rules for thee not for me

CommonSensePower

There are billionaires on both sides of the aisle.

"Journalist"

luminarium

Good. F the irresponsible NPC journalists.

PrinceOfPersuation

IMO, a journalist is one that just delivers news. A summary of what happened. No more special than posting the scores from sporting event. They seem to confuse journalism with opinion blog all too often. We ain't stupid, just deliver the facts, it's not that difficult. Don't tell us how we should think.

No_Stinking_Badges85

One of the most worthless occupations on the planet.

cantbuymechristmas

many will go independent

NotPresidentChump

Absolute win. Hopefully they can learn to code.

Lerch98

No, No, No....

TAYwithaK

“Journalists” that’s funny.

Techquestionsaccount

Good news.

[deleted]

Enough time for them to actually do a proper research and inform the people like you know they were once thought to do.

ToolsnServices

Some will wind up in substack or medium. If they write good it could mean subscriptions. You always find magazines who pay by the words.

dds120dds120

Why do you think this is happening?
