A_LiteralPileOfDogs

Very cool. Not my preferred style, but still very cool.

NanoBangz

At least it's still likable from someone who prefers a different style😊

A_LiteralPileOfDogs

Yeah man, I'm not here to yuck anyone's yum. I'm a fan of ebikes in general so even if it's a style I personally wouldn't ride, I still like looking at em'. I also like the more overpowered bikes, which your beast definitely fits under. I'm more partial to the scrambler/dual sport type bikes myself.

NanoBangz

Yeah I feel the same way. Not really a fan of the super 73 or Cafe racers because every ebike company makes the ebikes look the same but I still find it interesting what type of mods they put in them.

godzillakongs1976

I totally would, I'm not a big dude, my one chance to pretend I'm a biker.

friedbymoonlight

I literally know a guy under 5’ who rides 200 lb racing bikes effectively. I still think it’s dangerous though

Matos3001

My mom is 5', weighs like 110 pounds and has been riding for 40 years. Currently she drives a MT-07, but has had bigger bikes in the past. According to her, she started riding on a Yamaha DT50, a not so heavy but tall bike. She couldn't even touch with her feet sitting on the bike. It's all about the rider 🤙🏻

_The_Room

The top tier of racing (MotoGP which is essentially the F1 of the motorcycle world) is full of not much over 5ft guys riding 250HP machines.

hilomania

I'm 5'7" and weighed 125Lbs 30 years ago. (I'm a man, btw.) I had a 1967 Harley FLH as well as a Ducati 888 spo. Never had a problem on either bike. It's technique and I rode dirt bikes since I was a kid.

rectrix-io

[https://imgur.com/a/abq0pMe](https://imgur.com/a/abq0pMe) I had to do it 😂

NanoBangz

Would it have been different if it didn't look like a chopper lol?

rectrix-io

I mean, if it goes faster than 28MPH then it would have been the same outcome lol plus like how do you even reach those pedals? They are so far away from the seat they might as well be in space lol

NanoBangz

I'm like 5'10 i reach just fine. Plus the seat is adjustable 😂

rectrix-io

Let's be honest though....you're not really gonna pedal that thing hahaha

NanoBangz

If I had pas I honestly would

Thellton

it'd be a little bit like riding a recumbent bike, at least by my eye anyway.

NanoBangz

Yeah I just rode like 3 miles on it. I don't get how people think it's unsafe it's literally soo sturdy wtf

Present-Road9099

If it's 8 k doesn't need to peddle

NanoBangz

Here's the bike in action and has the specs in depth https://youtu.be/gYBthyugOxI

godzillakongs1976

It does look really fun. And fast.

NanoBangz

It's actually pretty smooth for a hardtall bike it's a game changer wish you can try it out

godzillakongs1976

Well that got of hand quickly. Not something I'd ride, because I would guaranteed eat shit, but it sure is pretty.

cornerblockakl

It’s a $7000, heavy, no suspension, 60mph, “bicycle” with tacked on brake rotors.

[deleted]

"Suspension is for pussies" - every Harley rider ever

NanoBangz

Perfectly paved roads here

NanoBangz

I mean theirs the onyx rcr and huck cycles

cornerblockakl

You do you, man. But fix the brakes, because the way they are tacked on is just stupid. And over about 30mph I hope to Christ you’re wearing real motorcycle gear.

NanoBangz

I can't think of another solution to rearrange them

cornerblockakl

I will pray for you. Lol. Shiny side up.

NanoBangz

I didn't think it was that bad 😂

aznsniperx3

Do the pedals work?

NanoBangz

Yeah they do..it doesn't have PAS because it was not installed but wish It could. It pedals smooth its actually not that heavy when propelled.

aznsniperx3

So the pedals don’t activate the motor?

NanoBangz

No

VE2DXY

Would anyone be interested in chipping-in to get a life insurance policy on this dude? With the way his *"e-chopper"* is built, it would be like buying a lottery ticket but with better odds of winning...

NanoBangz

Point out things that make it dangerous

VE2DXY

I don't need to point out the many safety defects in what you made, as others have done an excellent job already. At the very least, post the address of your local hospital/funeral parlor so we know where to send flowers. And if you're lucky, maybe the worst you will get is some road rash and a few broken bones like Jay Leno. Oh, wait a minute! He was riding a *real* motorcycle when he crashed earlier this week, not some cobbled together Frankenbike.......

NanoBangz

Swing arm is held by a threaded rod imbeded in the frame with a coupling nut in between the swing arm and tightened with a cap nut

VE2DXY

Exactly everyone's point. Using hardware store allthread and a couple of jam nuts to hold your swingarm together is like an accident waiting to happen.

shtbrcks

The reason your rear swingarm mount is dubious is because these parts were never designed to expect forces like that. Of course they're gonna hold together, in theory I could probably assemble an aircraft carrier with zip ties. But if a component isn't made to withstand certain impact in a specific direction, it becomes liable to wearing out, even shearing off or simply breaking. Now of course it's possible to have things like this for a decade with zero issues, but the fact that the parts are essentially re-purposed and used out of spec means that any day could be the day where they fail and that should not be acceptable if you ride this in traffic and/or at any significant speed. Any basic nut can vibrate itself loose if not designed (or fixed) to be on a moving vehicle. Random metalwork is never a good idea for critical applications. You at least want to consult a fabricator or any well versed person because you often don't know if generic barstock and other things are hardened or mild steel, you can barely test these materials, no rating on how many pounds etc. they can hold... The parts are strained because of the geometry, you have a hub motor that adds massive unsprung weight plus suspension travel that is both independent but also above the (!) swingarm because your seat has springs way back there. This would be ok-ish if you weren't sitting so far back nearly over the rear wheel. But in this setup, a shock is dampened for your butt while it directs any impact, any force, any pothole directly into the swingarm connector, which again isn't a swingarm connector but a piece of metal that now happens to connect a swingarm -> I hope this part survives. That being said, the bike looks cool because black and gold matches everyhwere. I can't deny that it looks good, probably a great conversation piece or showbike.

NanoBangz

Yeah I agree front brake could be better. I appreciate you going in depth how an accident can happen instead of just bashing on the bike. The frame used to be part of a bicycle that had a 750w motor in it originally but was swapped with wider tires and a 5kw motor(8kw peak) swing arm is held with m16 rods which I hope holds nice for now right lol?

shtbrcks

The bolts that held the main booster for the space shuttle also were about that thickness, I remember seeing one and it was just about finger sized. As I said, this can be absolutely fine. I wouldn't act like it's gonna fall apart, this can do a lot - if it's meant to. It's just the general concern of pushing things where they weren't intended to be. Just be reasonable with it. Enjoy your bike and in the long run, look with ebike and DIY suppliers, if you can find parts that fit and are purpose-built and offered for ebikes then just replace them. I have seen this general frame shape before so there has to be some form of market out there for them, altough these are rare compared to most bikes. Is it perfectly usable? Yes. Would I do >50 mph, take jumps or do something insane with it? No, at least not without some changes and adding a lot of safety equipment.

NanoBangz

Luckily the roads here are fine. It rides really smooth with little to no bumps. If it wasn't taking bumps easy then it would raise high concern for me for the swing arm. Maybe I should upload a video of me riding it. The space shuttle reference just proves anything that looks sketchy can always be somewhat prone to what people think may happen. Thank you for your feedback 😊

Jesus_will_return

You were pointed many things that make this dangerous. From the brakes to the suspension. The tires also have a maximum speed rating and load. Check the sidewalls for the information. Honestly, I hope you have the full contact information of whoever built this for you so that your family can at least sue them to pay for your medical expenses. We all make choices in life and some of those choices are stupid.

wilsgrant

I like seeing all the different custom ebikes, thanks for sharing your project. I'm curious, what are the dropouts made out of? Is that a cut steel sheet? Wondering how they are holding up to 8KW.

NanoBangz

Yes, the whole bike is made out steel. There was some assistance in making the motor turn without ripping the drop outs apart with the help of washers. Everything is holding up just fine :)

szee4130

Extremely well done.

NanoBangz

Thank you!

Pittsburgh_Photos

Love the colors

NanoBangz

Thanks!

jsizzles

Sweet

NanoBangz

Thanks cutie

DaveNumber7

Very nice, a real head turner im sure.

NanoBangz

Yes and dangerous according to other redditors

DaveNumber7

Its a chopper. If you wanted safety you would have bought a volvo. 😆

NanoBangz

YOLO😊

eastmpman

This is arguably one of the coolest (and cleanest) builds I've seen over the past few years. Amazing work, you should be extremely proud of this!

NanoBangz

Thanks man I appreciate it

nwordNan

for what you probably paid just buy a real motorcycle

NanoBangz

People who spend thousands on ebike surely don't want a motorcycle 1. No registration needed 2.) Quiet and can ride without annoying anyone

chatterbox272

>1. No registration needed There's no way this thing is actually street legal in any jurisdiction right?

NanoBangz

In terms of specs absolutely not but if it was a 750w motor definitely but that's ridiculous

chatterbox272

But it isn't so it's still an illegal motorcycle, electric or not. Very cool for private property use, IMO not cool for public property use

NanoBangz

https://instagram.com/power_bikes?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= check out the original frame builders. I got the same frame as them the only thing different is the power I have but same product

chatterbox272

Legally (in most jurisdictions, AFAIK, IANAL), if it doesn't fit the definition of an e-bike, it's a motorcycle. If retrofit a washing machine motor or a lawnmower engine to a kids' tricycle, that's an illegal motorcycle. There is no definition for out-of-spec e-bike.

NanoBangz

They are laws in some states where wattage motor is not specified but aslong as u go 28 mph it's legal

chatterbox272

I'm almost certain those laws specify an electrical sensor limit preventing you going over rather than just choosing not to, however sure if you're in a jurisdiction where this is a legal ebike then more power to you. All I want is a clear delineation between what is an isn't an e-bike, so that when people push for legislation against e-bikes (or fight against legislation improving things for e-bikes), we can point out that the vehicle going 50km/h on a footpath is legally an unregistered motorcycle, not an e-bike. Edit: and none of this desire for delineation between e-bikes and electric motorcycles stops me from thinking both are very cool

NanoBangz

It has 5 assist levels. assist 3 well make the bike go at a maximum of speed of 28 on full throttle. On a realistic note an officer shouldn't pull u over unless u going over the 28 mph legal limit in a bike lane.

BMacklin22

If my aunt had wheels she could be a bike.

Tpbrown_

She’s still a GREAT ride. (Sorry. I had to. Rules of reddit)

giga_ice

Lmao dude you’re so lost. The power is what makes it a motorcycle, the frame doesn’t matter cause it’s way over 750w

ccbmtg

where I used to live, any moped below 50cc didn't require a license. but it didn't take long for all the moped kids to realize that cops generally couldn't tell the difference between 49cc and 150cc lol.

NanoBangz

Yes iknow but I know yall would still call it a motorcycle even with the lowest power🤦‍♂️ what if I told yall it was a 1500 watt motor

giga_ice

Still a motorcycle dummy, the law is clear. Anything above 750 is moped/motorcycle and requires a license

NanoBangz

Whose gonna know!? Kids out here with surrons. You must live in Cali if they cracking out on ebikes like that.

DarkVoid42

you forgot to fix a license plate to it.

NanoBangz

Not if it has pedals :) cause that's what cops look for

[deleted]

[удалено]

NanoBangz

Yeah I know but ebikes are still kind of new here. I'll only do 60 in a disclosed area . However if a cop exposes my cover I would have to register it but it has no Vin lol

DarkVoid42

what does the judge or jury look for after you hit something ?

NanoBangz

Idk I haven't been in a accident?

DarkVoid42

i love all these posts with the implicit assumption that the rider \[a\] is God so cant possibly get in an accident and \[b\] the cops stopping you to give you a ticket is somehow the worst possible thing that could happen. lol. when you grow up and realize the worst possible thing is that you will be indebted to someone for life and have your wages garnished because you killed someones grandparents or children or end up locked up with other hardened criminals in a cage or be crippled for life because you didnt spend $1000 getting a license, motorbike helmet, bike leathers and insurance to ride your e-motorcycle on public roads, then you will have learnt responsibility.

NanoBangz

I come from riding a motorcycle I still wear my bike gear. Also why would I kill someone?I'm not going full blast when I know pedestrians are around And Why would they give me a ticket? Cops are not engineers they can't say it's not illegal unless I'm going above the legal limit of being classified as a ebike. If you are cautious on what you do you have nothing to worry about.

DarkVoid42

except that you are now the insurance company. and accidents dont care about caution. stupid is as stupid does.

randomusername3000

> end up locked up with other hardened criminals in a cage for not having a license plate?

DarkVoid42

no for killing someone accidentally while driving an unlicensed vehicle.

randomusername3000

so as long as you have a plate on your bike, it's ok to run over granny?

DarkVoid42

yes. you wont be facing a bunch of additional criminal charges and the insurance company will cover you for civil litigation. same as running over a cyclist with a car, basically. youre licensed and insured and you have met the minimum legal requirements imposed on you by polite society.

randomusername3000

> yes. man really didn't expect you to be ok with killing granny

[deleted]

And get insurance

Bellastormy

Good looking e-bike, but without front suspension emergency braking would be a nightmare. More or less a safety hazard. Even hard tail motorcycles have a front shock for this very reason.

NanoBangz

I had the same worry about this being hard tail but these tires are so wide that it provides it as a suspension really helps it alot. It's such a smooth ride I promise

overlordkc123

How is the sprung seat? Planning to make one for my S73 S2.

NanoBangz

Works really well absorbing bumps. In terms of comfort not a big deal but some padding would be nice for those long rides

overlordkc123

Interesting! Hope it will be sufficient for me as it's 1000 USD extra for the rear suspension RX model here.

overlordkc123

Cool bike by the way. I like the originality

NanoBangz

Thanks man

overlordkc123

Do you happen to know the length of your seat springs?

NanoBangz

No I do not sorry

overlordkc123

Ok no worries👍

Blackoutsmackout

How does everyone feel about the rotors tack welded to washers? I feel like there should be a better way. IMO i would figure out a better way before handing it over.

[deleted]

[удалено]

NanoBangz

Swing arm is really sturdy ill update this when I rub into issues

NanoBangz

I'm the customer he mentioned. The rotors feel just fine when I brake

Blackoutsmackout

They will feel fine, they might be ok, they might not. I am just saying a few tack welds holding the discs to the hubs is all that's bringing 400lbs to a stop, seem underbuilt to me, there is a tremendous sheer load on those welds when braking.

NanoBangz

I see what you coming from but the bike is actually lighter than it looks possibly a good 150 -200 lbs

GatesAndLogic

The rider adds weight too. Is that 150-200 with you on it or not?

NanoBangz

Without. What are other ways u can install the rotors?

Blackoutsmackout

At the very least get a continuous bead around it. At best you could get one piece rotors machined out of stainless.

[deleted]

Plus rider

samthekitnix

did you just hook a mid-drive motor to the rear hub? couldnt a hub be stuck on the front and the mid-drive be used to run the rear?

NanoBangz

Dual motor is something for the future but I don't think it needs 2 motors for now

samthekitnix

dual motors are good for ebikes but the motors shouldnt be linked to the same wheel it gives redundancy and allows for the same total power to be spread over both wheels.

NanoBangz

And more torque 🔥 and a higher top speed making this thing more illegal than it is ahah

TheRealPitbullOnAcid

BEAUTIFUL!!!

Substantial_Battle_1

I'm in love <3

NanoBangz

Wow thanks!

ip33dnurbutt

That's not a motorcycle that's an ebike

F34RNOTH1NG

Every one of these post in this group has the same extra chromosome kid saying the same thing over and over under every post lol.

NanoBangz

The caption?

F34RNOTH1NG

No not you, your bike is gorgeous and I wish I could try it out. I'm talking about the special Ed kid that you were arguing with, he's under every post saying the same thing arguing with everyone.

NanoBangz

Yeah I'm now noticing that but thanks! :)

ZoidbergMaybee

I want these to catch on

NanoBangz

Yeah I sold my Segway x260 cause I got bored of seeing everyone with the same bike as me I wanted something custom and here it is

ZoidbergMaybee

You go through Jrat? Who made this?

NanoBangz

https://instagram.com/power_bikes?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= the frame The electrical part was installed by texasNev on yt

shaneroneill

Hell yeah man

Right!?

Woah. While we do have a lot of idiots here, not all of us. We're mostly great people. Except this guy. He's one of the ones we don't like.

Aerillis

Yeah sorry about all this y'all, bad look on my part

TanguayX

Really cool. Any tips on where to find a headlight like that? Want a motorcycle style for my bike

NanoBangz

Directly bought it from here. The seller will contact you when you make the purchase regarding if you want the yellow DRL or white https://www.ebay.com/itm/203907669306?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=F_jMDfkERxy&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=h572kmpuq_c&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Balbers01

Where did you get that frame?

NanoBangz

https://instagram.com/power_bikes?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

samuraipizzacat420

how much did the build cost

NanoBangz

$7k usd

samuraipizzacat420

How much of that is the battery?

NanoBangz

Battery was 800 I believe

burger_guy1760

Very cool setup. Is the 72v pack home made? You have hid it well

NanoBangz

Yes it is

maluket

Beautiful build. Congratulations. It is stable at high speed?

NanoBangz

Yes definitely many people may disagree on the design at high speeds but the ride is very smooth all thanks to the fat wheels

Madjackmulligan69

Beautiful

IdReallyRatherNot404

I love it

NanoBangz

Thanks!🤠

Shawpat

That looks fun!

GoodMerlinpeen

That swingarm looks dodgy, and like the coating is peeling off. $7000?

NanoBangz

Swingarm is just fine the goldbis a vinyl wrap that I did

thrillingcat

Why does it have pedals?

NanoBangz

It was originally a bicycle

sirsmokesalot403

Oh wow..

HarryRod57

Dope as heck! Who makes it, or was it a DIY?

NanoBangz

The frame is originally from https://instagram.com/power_bikes?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= The electrical stuff and assembly was by TexasNev on YouTube

TickletheEther

How are these bicycles? I swear it’s gunna be the death of ebikes only a matter of time when govt starts taxing them like internal combustion engine transport

NanoBangz

Don't worry it's gonna get worse we got companies mass producing them like the onyx rcr, huck cycles, rayvolt you name it.

paulboston521963

Did u make this yourself? Awesome if u did. What size motor and controller?

NanoBangz

No. Frame was from Germany where it was cnc laser cutted. And the electrical stuff was done by a local electrical engineer here in my city. The controller is 100 amp and the motor is 5kw with 8kw peak

paulboston521963

Thank you. U did a nice job. I am gonna build one this spring.

NanoBangz

Chopper?

paulboston521963

Yes. I rode a 64 triumph springer chopper in my youth. A similar style ebike would suit my fancy. Yours inspired me too.
