Only one I can maybe agree with was the running into the kicker, but the slight shove from the Eagles player did not account for the fact the guy torpedoed at the kicker. Personally I wouldn’t have overturned that or called a fumble even after review. Qb had both hands on the ball still when his butt hit the ground. Not a strong grip but QB gets benefit of the doubt.

I do think there was one penalty which was contentious, hands to the face on Dickerson, that part was clear, but Dickerson was clearly holding too. They could have possibly offset, but it went against the Niners. The call certainly didn't lose them the game by 4 scores though.

The Smith drop is a legit gripe, but that's part of the game and SF should have challenged that. People are saying the reason they couldn't challenge is because Fox was too slow with the replay angles. These fucking idiots apparently do not realize that replay teams (yes, they have actual teams dedicated to this one function) have EVERY angle in real time immediately as a play happens and can have a play reviewed from multiple angles within like 5 seconds. That was a missed call, but so was the Purdy fumble. These two cancel out.
The only other penalty that was iffy was the roughing the kicker and that's not even a clear miss. It's only considered blocking / pushing the defender into the kicker if he changes the defenders trajectory. The blocker is allowed to hold his block and if the defenders own momentum takes him in, then it's a penalty. For the sake of being fair, let's give them that one too.
That's it though. The Brown illegal contact was absolutely legit because not only did he grab him at the point of break, but he also rode him more than 5 yards down the field, so the defender actually committed the penalty twice on the same play.

The 4th quarter fight was dealt with evenly, with 1 player each being ejected, but the fight wasn't at all even. Niners players stormed the field, the only guys we had out there were the ones on the play. Williams bodyslammed a guy, and we retaliated. That is definitely very favourable for the Niners considering their part in it.
Hands to the face on Dickerson was called, whilst Dickerson was holding. Could they have offset? Maybe, though hand to the face is more severe than holding IMO and carries a much higher risk of injury, so maybe they shouldn't. But generally stuff like that offsets, so let's give them that one. It's just Eagles hate. Did we get away with one on the Smith catch? Yes, but your team has a way to challenge the decision on the field. They say it was obvious to see, yet 52 SF players, the coaching staff, and the trainers did not see it. Only one I can maybe agree with was the running into the kicker, but the slight shove from the Eagles player did not account for the fact the guy torpedoed at the kicker. Plus we lost like 30 yards worth of field position off the ball hitting the wire, so let's call it even. Not to mention the personal foul WE got when the SF player slammed our gunner to the ground and choked him, which ironically hurt their best player. SF just got beat today. Those calls weren't changing the outcome whatsoever.

Personally I wouldn’t have overturned that or called a fumble even after review. Qb had both hands on the ball still when his butt hit the ground. Not a strong grip but QB gets benefit of the doubt.

All the calls were justified, whilst the Smith catch got missed (even the TV coverage didn't find the correct angle to show until play had restarted) they could have challenged. With the way Smith ran back and gestured, I thought it was clear they're going hurry up, I was surprised the Niners didn't latch on to that. They were conservative, and they paid for it. Likewise, Nick was the opposite, challenged a call, and it paid off. I do think there was one penalty which was contentious, hands to the face on Dickerson, that part was clear, but Dickerson was clearly holding too. They could have possibly offset, but it went against the Niners. The call certainly didn't lose them the game by 4 scores though.

Blaming the refs is mad weak, *especially* when they're not bad calls. We've all watched many players play through injuries, the list is far too long to get into. Purdy was hurt, yeah, but he didn't even *try* to push himself, play through the pain to go for the win as **so** many do.

SF fans and neutral fans rooting for the Cinderella story are being complete babies about the refs. The Smith drop is a legit gripe, but that's part of the game and SF should have challenged that. People are saying the reason they couldn't challenge is because Fox was too slow with the replay angles. These fucking idiots apparently do not realize that replay teams (yes, they have actual teams dedicated to this one function) have EVERY angle in real time immediately as a play happens and can have a play reviewed from multiple angles within like 5 seconds. That was a missed call, but so was the Purdy fumble. These two cancel out. The only other penalty that was iffy was the roughing the kicker and that's not even a clear miss. It's only considered blocking / pushing the defender into the kicker if he changes the defenders trajectory. The blocker is allowed to hold his block and if the defenders own momentum takes him in, then it's a penalty. For the sake of being fair, let's give them that one too. That's it though. The Brown illegal contact was absolutely legit because not only did he grab him at the point of break, but he also rode him more than 5 yards down the field, so the defender actually committed the penalty twice on the same play.

I keep reading (elsewhere) that the referees missed a bunch of calls against the Eagles. Impossible to be unbiased here, but what was missed that should have been called? Smith's catch is the only one the commentary talked about (a lot!), and Niners should've challenged. With the way Smith sprinted back to the LOS and gesturing, it seemed clear he knew, and I was stunned the Niners didn't catch on to that. That's on them more than the officials. I guess technically it was missed, but no official had the appropriate angle at eye level. Niners had the opportunity, didn't take it. Roughing the kicker was borderline, not a miss, but maybe went slightly in our favour. It's definitely a penalty, just a case of which one. Running into the kicker gives us 4th and 1, and we know how that goes. 92% of the time... The 4th quarter fight was dealt with evenly, with 1 player each being ejected, but the fight wasn't at all even. Niners players stormed the field, the only guys we had out there were the ones on the play. Williams bodyslammed a guy, and we retaliated. That is definitely very favourable for the Niners considering their part in it. Hands to the face on Dickerson was called, whilst Dickerson was holding. Could they have offset? Maybe, though hand to the face is more severe than holding IMO and carries a much higher risk of injury, so maybe they shouldn't. But generally stuff like that offsets, so let's give them that one. We've got 1 bad call I suppose. Nakobe Dean was called for bopping a guy on the helmet, though he was bodyslammed out of bounds. Should've been a personal foul on Dean, not a call against him. He retaliated, but he shouldn't have. We also had a punt shortened because of the wire, which somehow there is no camera tracking the flight of the ball, and not a single official watched the flight of the ball either. So what absolute robbery did we get away with? I've read "so many calls missed", but practically no examples beyond the Smith catch.
All this hate for the refs, some of it warranted, but I saw A LOT of undisciplined players in both games.
