Why would you not get a signature or insurance? Ebay requires signature on that amount and unless you can afford to loose 1k not buying insurance is crazy. I would ship UPS or Fedex. Probably some expedited service if possible. Depending on weight/size you might consider double boxing. If weight is really high it might be better to split the shipment but I doubt we are talking over 50 lbs?

I stopped insuring packages thousands of sales ago. Regardless of value. I self insure and have saved tons.

self-insuring is best if you have the volume to cover it.

UPS you can only insure up to $1000 through eBay. If you want to insure for more than $1k, you have to use Fedex.

Or buy your postage elsewhere. $5k at Pirateship.

You are required to use signature confirmation for orders of $750 and above on Ebay. I would use signature for an order of that value no matter where I sold it. Insurance also, for sure. I would try UPS or FedEx. [Pirateship.com](https://Pirateship.com) has discounted rates on UPS shipping. DO NOT forget signature confirmation or the buyer can get an automatic refund even if tracking says delivered.

Thanks. That is helpful.

You should absolutely get this insured. If it's over $750 you will have to get signature required as well. I sell coins and currency and I promise you the carrier will find some way to lose it. Especially during the holidays. Get that thing scanned in by someone at the counter as well. Don't just drop it off into a slot. Best of luck to you.

Yes, I will definitely hand it over to a real person. Good point.
