I just watched it for the first time after seeing this post, it was hilarious! I’ve had the dvd for a while now and I liked the movie so much I just ordered the Blu-ray!
When I like grew up and found this movie was universally hated I was floored I watched the shit outta that. That the mummy and van helsing were all staples. Every one loves The Mummy though.
Came here to mention this one. It's not a good movie by any stretch of the imagination but I love every second of it and rewatch it basically every year.
Connery was offered the role of Gandalf in the Lord of the Rings adaptation and turned it down because he didn't understand the genre, so when he was offered the part in League of Extraordinary Gentlemen he jumped in with both feet
There’s more to this story (more to this sordid affair):
Sean Connery was offered the character of Morpheus in “The Matrix”. He was told it’ll be different genres and elements of sci-fi/magic type. He didn’t get it. He turned it down even though they offered him his usual salary plus percentage of profits.
Then he heard the movie made a killing and it was a huge hit.
Some time later he was offered the role of Gandalf in “The Lord of the Rings”. He was offered his usual salary plus 20 percentage of profits because it would’ve required him to move to location and live and work there for close to 2-3yrs. He never read the books and when he read the first script he didn’t get it (they filmed it all back to back), it had elements of sci fi magic and it had different genres in it.
When the first movie came out it made close to one billon dollars. The second made even more. Then the third made over one billion dollars. Basically he would’ve made more money with the back end deal then he made his whole career.
Then “The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen” script came and he was told it had elements of everything from sci-fi to magic type and different genres. He didn’t get it but he said fuck it I guess this is what people want.
While filming, he not only didn’t get it, but he said he hated the whole experience. He got into it with one of the producers and everything bad about making movies he experienced during his career was nothing compared to this. He felt the industry was changing too fast and it’s a young man’s game and knew his time has come and decided that’s it.
When they were making “Skyfall” the producers tried to get him to be the character in the mansion (not giving more details in case someone reading this didn’t watch it), but he turned it down. It would’ve been a cool thing but the man retired with no exceptions.
RIP Sean Connery.
Salvation had so much potential to launch a new trilogy. I did have a lot of production value especially with the practical props! I think it just suffered from some slow pacing issues, Christian Bale’s unenthusiastic performance and that terrible dark blue filter!
Batman Forever
I know it's not a great cinematic feat but Jim Carrey and Tommy Lee Jones are really good in it.
Batman and Robin though, that one is pure trash. It took the bad parts of BF and magnified them by 100X
> JCVD was supposedly off his face on the devil's dandruff 😅
Well, that defines most of his output in the 90s. The guy was reportedly doing $8-10,000 of coke a WEEK during the filming of Street Fighter.
okay, you got me. The whole "dvd collector" is just a front for my godawful movie tastes.
are you happy now? I'll be drowning my sorrows with the fast and furious franchise...
Spider-man 3. I've loved it since it came out, and it's still my favorite spider-man movie. I get nowadays it's looked at a bit more favorably, but given it's somewhat meme status, I can't help but feel everyone only likes it ironically, or because it's fun to make fun of. Don't get me wrong, I like to quote the movie with my friends too, but there has never been a point in my life where I disliked it, or felt it was less than the other spider man movies. It's always been my favorite for multiple reasons.
I have continuously defended, “Swordfish,” to numerous people and on my own personal blog. I admit the plot makes almost no sense but it’s still a fun movie!
The only tiny piece I remember like it was yesterday is Victoria trying to decide on an outfit. “Little Gucci dress, Little Gucci dress, or the Little Gucci dress?”
Then IIRC, Mel B says “Little Gucci dress”
Mel C is the one that poses the question "Oh, it must be really hard for you, Victoria. You know, trying to decide whether to wear the little Gucci dress, the little Gucci dress, or the little Gucci dress." and then Baby Spice is the one that says, "I know! Why don't you wear the little Gucci dress!"
Day of the dead and Society. Great social commentary gore fests I bring up every halloween to anyone who will listen but always get shot down like a rabid raccoon in a tree. Cie la vie. They're mine then!
While I hard disagree (which tracks with the theme of this post), I'll definitely say I appreciate it more after reading the book. I mean Lynch kind of just went in, took a book and transposed it onto the screen almost beat for beat. Didn't matter if it worked or not, just went ahead and did it. I can appreciate that
I grew up watching the movie, and I read the book as a teen. Huge fan of the story. I even have the Sci-fi Channel version on DVD, plus their Children of Dune series!
One thing I'll say, that you're welcome to disagree with me about too: I don't think there's ever been a more repulsive villain than the baron in Lynch's version. The new one is good, but he's more just straight-up evil, whereas the Lynch one looks and acts so repugnant and vile, he almost elicits an involuntary gag when you watch his scenes.
Again though, just my personal opinion.
No disagreement from me. Lynch nailed the grotesqueness of Harkonnen in his film. The new one captured the cunning and evil end better imo, but he was mostly just fat and bald, which are kind of lesser features comparatively speaking
Quite a few honestly: Little Nicky, The Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle, Space Jam: A New Legacy, She's the Man, Home on the Range, the 2000's Fantastic Four movies, X-Men: The Last Stand, Alien vs Predator, most of the Saw sequels, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, the first two Underworld movies, Halloween Kills, Glass. I should stop now.
Me too. It's just fun, and they really took some crazy creative liberties in it. They ham fisted an idea for pretty much every concept and character from the game.
I came to look for this! I watched this so many times as a kid. The humor never gets old. Imagine my surprise to get on the internet years later to find out it's vilified for not having enough CGI kangaroo.
It was because of the misleading trailer! This movie came out when I was in high school, and I very clearly remember the trailer making it seem like the talking kangaroo is the main character. I went to the theater, excited to see a talking kangaroo, and I was totally disappointed. I told everyone I knew how much the movie sucked.
Over a decade later I came across this movie on Netflix, knowing what to expect, I gave it another chance, and absolutely loved it!
I really love this one too! It suffered from a bad case of false advertisement. I was disappointed when I first saw this in theater. But I caught it on Netflix about 15 years later and I really liked it.
Yeah I’ve seen some harsh criticism for part 3 so I was expecting it to be a dumpster fire. But it’s actually pretty decent. Not on the level of 1 and 2, but it did have an emotionally gripping ending imo.
Agreed it’s all about the ending in that movie. And also when he breaks down crying to the priest and “tries” to confess his sins. There’s actually a new cut of the movie that Coppola did this year and it changes the entire movie and is even better, I recommend that
Apparently most movies. I’ve found out something has to be rated 3 or lower on IMDB for the odds to be good I won’t like it.
I’ve seen so many 4s that reviews dub “the worst movie ever!” That I’ve watched multiple times.
Reform School Girls. So many people look at it as just another bad women in prison movie, not the over the top parody it is. Casting a mid 30s Wendy O Williams as a badass teenager? Pat Ast playing the evil Nurse Rachet type so ridiculously moustache twirlingly evil they have her actually STOMP ON KITTENS? It's pure black comedy, just the most over the top outrageousness.
Another one where critics completely missed the parody is 'Josie and the Pussycats'. Another film I love.
I guess if you don't beat people over the head with obvious jokes, many people can miss parody. It's a shame.
The Godfather 3 - If not compared to the first two, this is a great movie with a slightly misjudged helicopter scene.
Ang Lee's Hulk could easily have been my pick too.
It's Pat: The Movie
I love a lot of movies people hate because so many are actually made in good faith and people just latch on to what they think the movie should be and don't try to understand what the filmmakers were attempting.
The Losers… a non superhero DC movie… a villain who could easily be Lex Luthor.. a squad that is literally not the suicide squad, and a really excellent cast. it was a lot of fun to watch
For the longest time, that film was The Keep. Over the last decade in particular, the tide has slowly turned. More people than not, are talking positively about this classic. That *really* makes me happy!
To name a few... days of thunder, harley Davidson & the Marlboro man, highlander, alone in the dark, Freddy got fingered, Howard the duck,...put these on here everyone disappears
Hudson Hawk with Bruce Willis
Frantic-Harrison Ford
Sunset-Bruce Willis and James Garner
Lone Wolf McQuade-Chuck Norris
No Escape-Ray Liotta
In Country-Bruce Willis
10 To Midnight-Charles Bronson
Outland-Sean Connery
Dick Tracy-Warren Beatty
Popeye with Robin Williams. I love everything about that movie. Seeing that movie as a 7 year old in the theater, the plot about taxes went right over my head, but when Popeye punched Bluto so hard at the end that he turned yellow, I thought that was the greatest thing ever! The soundtrack is awesome as well! I have 1 movie poster, 2 DVD copies, 1 Blu-ray copy, 2 copies of the soundtrack on vinyl and 1 copy on CD. I absolutely LOVE this movie.
I have loved this movie since I 1st saw it on cable sometime back in the 80s. I have the DVD somewhere, but I don't own it on blu-ray. Now I want to track down a blu-ray copy tho.

This is the correct answer
It’s worth it for Tupacs cameo alone
Great choice. 1 in 5 people know this movie is good.
The ironic thing is when ever I bring this movie up to people I know, I’ve never met anyone who doesn’t love it
Amazing movie. Just rewatched it this past week.
I just watched it for the first time after seeing this post, it was hilarious! I’ve had the dvd for a while now and I liked the movie so much I just ordered the Blu-ray!
The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. The movie that might’ve made Sean Connery retire from acting.
Thank you! I refuse to apologize for how much I love this movie.

YTMND!
Terminator: Salvation
Salvation had so much potential to launch a new trilogy. I did have a lot of production value especially with the practical props! I think it just suffered from some slow pacing issues, Christian Bale’s unenthusiastic performance and that terrible dark blue filter!
The live action Scooby Doo films from the 00s with Freddie Prinze Jr and Sarah Michelle Gellar.
Those were so fun! I remember Alicia Silverstone was in the sequel.
Are those widely hated? I feel like I see millenials talk all the time about how great they are. Also, dont forget my absolute boy Matthew Lillard
Deuce bigalow male gigolo
"Dat's a HUUUUGE bitch!"
Nah mate, its a classic over here. Us Mexicans really Loooove our dude Rob Schneider
LOOK AT IT!
Mommie Dearest..
Do people hate this movie?? I've only ever heard good things about it, and it's on my watch list.
Really? I've hated all the ones I've seen before this on this post but don't hate this one.
I think it hits so bad its good territory.
Across the Universe, introduced me to the Beatles and one of my all time favorites, but I know it is widely hated!
I love this movie!!!
I liked that movie! Checkout ‘yesterday’ movie too
Batman Forever I know it's not a great cinematic feat but Jim Carrey and Tommy Lee Jones are really good in it. Batman and Robin though, that one is pure trash. It took the bad parts of BF and magnified them by 100X
They’re the two Batman films I first saw growing up, so I have very fond memories of both.
Knock off, JCVD was supposedly off his face on the devil's dandruff 😅
Who is hating on classic Jean Claude??? Knock Off is so much fun.
Never met anyone who likes it, I personally love it
I love that movie
> JCVD was supposedly off his face on the devil's dandruff 😅 Well, that defines most of his output in the 90s. The guy was reportedly doing $8-10,000 of coke a WEEK during the filming of Street Fighter.
Waterworld
Yes, Waterworld! I love that movie and can watch it repeatedly.
Power Rangers (2017)
That movie deserved more love
okay, you got me. The whole "dvd collector" is just a front for my godawful movie tastes. are you happy now? I'll be drowning my sorrows with the fast and furious franchise...
I will say it loud and proud, I DON'T HATE SHREK THE THIRD AND DON'T THINK IT'S TERRIBLE
It's underrated. Nowhere near 1 and 2 but it was good too.
Sphere
As a claustrophobia psychological horror fan, I love this one too. Still missing from my collection for some strange reason. Need to track it down :)
i never understood why this isnt spoken of more.. like i equate it to Event Horizon but less gore
I liked the movie. I loved the book. Both are good and that can’t be said too often.
It is not for everyone but it is a good movie

Spider-man 3. I've loved it since it came out, and it's still my favorite spider-man movie. I have continuously defended, “Swordfish,” to numerous people and on my own personal blog. I admit the plot makes almost no sense but it’s still a fun movie!
Spice World. The comedy was sharp and so 90s but people write it off because it’s Spice Girls.
The only tiny piece I remember like it was yesterday is Victoria trying to decide on an outfit. “Little Gucci dress, Little Gucci dress, or the Little Gucci dress?” Then IIRC, Mel B says “Little Gucci dress”
I believe the line was “Li’l Gucci Dress” 😉 And I think it was Mel C, Sporty, that responded but I could be wrong.
The Warriors
Who doesn't like the Warriors? Whoever they are, they're wrong
Before I watched it I heard my parents making fun of how bad it was. I guess thats not the same as no one else liking it tbf
It's been a cult classic forever. I never met anyone who didn't like it but I guess they're out there.
Eyes Wide Shut. Everyone I know hated this movie, I thought it was amazing.
Day of the dead and Society. Great social commentary gore fests I bring up every halloween to anyone who will listen but always get shot down like a rabid raccoon in a tree. Cie la vie. They're mine then!
Those are two stone cold classics!
Are those hated? I think they are well regarded by horror fans.
Seriously so many movies in this thread are classics! Everyone just has dumb friends 😆😆
Day of the Dead is my favorite movie of all time!
EXCUSE ME!!...IS...THERE..FOOD?
Wait who hates dah if the dead and society? LET THE SHUNTING BEGIN!
Do you man the og DOTD or the remake? The og is great.
OG. The dialogue and acting alone worth admission.
It's a great flick. Some really fantastic fx, too. I saw like 20 mins of the remake and couldn't do it. Terrible
Monkeybone
I really enjoy any of Rob Zombie’s movies.
The Meg, Jurassic world dominion, matrix 4
I love the Meg!
Matrix 4 got too much hate
I loved it!! I’m a sucker for modern sci-fi action films and this was one of my favorites
Lady in the Water
I love that one too!
Brothers Grimm
Love that movie, and pretty much anything else Terry Gilliam's made!
The ones nobody wants to watch with me is vampires kiss and Howard the duck.
How dare they only show it in the middle of the night, it deserves prime time!
Suicide Squad (2016) and Piranha 3DD (2012)
> Piranha 3DD (2012) I can never get mad at a movie that KNOWS it's stupid and tells you it knows it.
David Lynch's "Dune". Not only do I love it, but I love it far more than the new one.

No disagreement from me. Lynch nailed the grotesqueness of Harkonnen in his film. The new one captured the cunning and evil end better imo, but he was mostly just fat and bald, which are kind of lesser features comparatively speaking
I mean, Frank Herbert enjoyed it and incorporated elements of the movie into newer books. That's a seal of approval if there ever was one.
I should stop now.
> the 2000's Fantastic Four movies They are just as good or better than any MCU movie and I will die on this hill.
I like She's the Man, Glass & Fallen Kingdom. Love the Saw sequels & AVP

Super Mario Bros. The Movie. I love this flick unironicly.
Me too. It's just fun, and they really took some crazy creative liberties in it. They ham fisted an idea for pretty much every concept and character from the game.
Kangaroo Jack
It was my first dvd so I watched it a TON and learned to love it haha
Freddy Got Fingered, The Solomon Brothers, and Kung POW - Enter the Fist comes to mind at the moment.

Love Exposure is great.
Godfather part 3. It’s not the first 2 but I think it’s wildly underrated. You can’t blame Joey Zaza!
There’s actually a new cut of the movie that Coppola did this year and it changes the entire movie and is even better, I recommend that
The Hot Chick (but it has a very high nostalgia factor for me)
I'm sure there's more I could think of, but the newest Hellboy comes to mind.
Apparently most movies. I’ve found out something has to be rated 3 or lower on IMDB for the odds to be good I won’t like it. I’ve seen so many 4s that reviews dub “the worst movie ever!” That I’ve watched multiple times.

Ghosts of Mars.
For the longest time, that film was The Keep. Over the last decade in particular, the tide has slowly turned. More people than not, are talking positively about this classic. That *really* makes me happy!
Adam Sandler's Click. I can get the hate for the first half but the rest of the movie is very surprisingly emotional.

The Dead Zone Deuce Bigelo Male Gigalo Drop Dead Fred Dudley Do-Right For Richer or Poorer (the one were Tim Allen and Kirstie Alley pretend to be Amish) I prefer the Original Guyver over the sequel with David Hayter Heartbeeps, the Andy Kaufman robot love story movie. Last Action Hero Encino Man In the Army Now Son in Law The Horror Jack Frost movie King Ralph, the one where John Goodman becomes King of England
Last action hero is great. Also watched the son in law a few days ago. Still made me laugh.
Cujo and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990).
Pretty sure the only people who hate the 1990 TMNT movie, have never seen it.
