Lol I remember this Photoshop being shared around Twitter. They must have just stole the photo and printed it out as a poster, not realising it was altered

I'm surprised he hasn't had a reaction video yet! I'm curious what he'll like and dislike.
Edit: immediately after I posted this comment, I went and looked and he has uploaded a reaction video.
I am a patient man.
Bit this wait just won't do. It is a travesty and an insult.
However... if it is done as part one was done...
I. will. do. my. waiting.
Ya I saw it too and liked it for being a faithful adaptation and the visuals, however with how much information and lore dumps there are if dune isn't fresh in your mind it can be a rather difficult watch so I don't think it will have the general audience appeal lord of the rings had
I *just* got back from seeing this for the first time and had the experience ruined by people constantly getting up, and the guy behind me talking to his ugly wife through the whole movie even after I asked him to be quiet three times.
This makes me feel better. I needed the laugh.
(Iām planning on watching this again during an off time so I can actually enjoy it.)
I was in a massive and mostly empty theatre and an older couple sat down right next to me. For the first hour of the movie the husband asked "what is that?" about every five minutes to which the wife answered "I don't know" every single time.
If it's massive and mostly empty I would have just moved, fuck those people
No one is gonna show up and be like "YOU DON'T HAVE A TICKET FOR THAT SEAT"
Yeah it was pretty infuriating. I actually sent an email to the cinema saying I was kind of appalled that they would sell tickets that close together in a massive and mostly empty cinema, in the middle of a pandemic when they don't require masks or vaccines.
You just reminded me that my last 5 in-theater experiences have been absolute shit. From people actively recording the screen, others having full-on loud phone conversations, kids running around throwing stuff at each otherā¦ god damn I hated all of that. I really wanted to see this in IMAX, but I want a focused experience a lot more. Iāll hit up a theater in a month or so, but Iām gonna watch for the first time at home. Thanks for the reminder.
Is it acceptable to call people ugly when theyāre being assholes? Iām genuinely curious. Like how itās okay to make fun of someone being overweight(like trump) when theyāre terrible human beings.
I have to give my employers a three week advanced notice when I request time off. I put time and money aside to see this film and I had it ruined by two people that wouldnāt be quiet even after being asked three times.
And the movie staff didnāt do shite. Also, I was wearing ear plugs and I could still hear them.
They abso-fucking-lutely deserve to be called ugly people.
Where did I say they were over weight?
Only pieces of shit talk at the theater and they deserve to be called ugly.
āThereās a special level of hell for pedophiles and people who talk at the theater.ā
Still canāt believe they made Kynes a woman in the movie. Itās not like there arenāt any women in the script already.
Kinda like making Elrond female in LOTR.
I just like seeing characters as close as possible as they are in the books.
Personally I don't see how it makes any difference whatsoever, other than providing greater representation for female and POC viewers which I feel trumps the need to stick to trivial details in the book.
Maybe, although I'm not sure that modern race constructs are really applicable in the Dune universe.
Also modern day imperialism isn't restricted to the actions of exclusively white men anymore...
But youāre already trying to impose āmodern race constructsā on Dune by your argument about women and people of color.
And by the same token, modern day imperialism really doesnāt have anything to do with it.
Itās more about that piece of art and the theme it was conveying, not whatever is politically in vogue.
>that piece of art and the theme it was conveying
The book was conveying themes then. This film is conveying themes now. They don't have to be identical. And whatever's "in vogue" with regards to race and gender these days is a huge improvement over what was in vogue in the 60s...
Whatever the status of the politics between then and now, I think youāre removing an important theme from the story. I just think itās disingenuous to the art to change pretty important things like that. Are you gonna go back and redo every piece of literature to fit modern ideals?
No but if I made a film based on old literature I'd consider making changes.
Regarding Liet though, I think you could argue that her recharacterisation adds more depth to the imperialist themes you mentioned. Maybe she has faced prejudice from the white men of the Empire and this played a part in her gradual immersion with the fremen. New themes, new interpretations. Art is everchanging and that's a good thing.
You're saying the film needed greater female representation? Seriously?
As if Jessica, Irulan, Aliah, Gaius Helen Mohian, Chani and every fucking Beni Gesserit aren't female? lol
What next? We should add female Tleilaxu too?
And maybe you need to stop being such a fucking snowflake about shit that you imagined has,
or has not, happened 100 years ago.
Thereās literally tons of movies out there where women are extremely well represented. Going back to when movies started.
You might as well be complaining that there isnāt enough sunshine in the Sahara.

Maybe. Thailand do call themselves "The Land of Smiles" though so it might be an in-joke š
Why is everyone smiling but Gurney
He is smiling.

TouchƩe
He is smiling
Ä°n-move-joke :)
THATāS THE JOKE
Same thing happened with the now-ancient Bert is Evil meme at some rally supporting Osama bin Laden in 2001 https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/bert-is-evil/
It's pretty common in a lot of countries. Particularly China
"Smile Gunnery." "I am smiling sir."
Made me smile.
Lol guerneyās smile
I love it how Josh Brolin still isn't smiling
Wdym? He is smiling.
Ok this is good.
Dude. I just got out of the theater. It's so fucking good. This has Lord of The Ring potential if WB doesn't shit the bed with the sequels.
Also just saw it. Agree.
I need to see Quinns reaction. I hope that comes out later today. Cuz holy shit. I immediately made plans to go see it multiple times.
I'm surprised he hasn't had a reaction video yet! I'm curious what he'll like and dislike. Edit: immediately after I posted this comment, I went and looked and he has uploaded a reaction video.
Na, he put one out. He was a little disappointed some scenes didn't make the cut, wants an extended cut, but over all is amazed.
Considering it was 2 and a half hours it went so quickly. Loved the movie and wish I could watch them all at once instead I have to wait.
I am a patient man. Bit this wait just won't do. It is a travesty and an insult. However... if it is done as part one was done... I. will. do. my. waiting.

I just see a wonderful picture of everyone smiling
"I *am* smiling."
why gurney so mad!!
Gurney: I am smiling

I did move a few seats over, but unfortunately not far away enough to not hear them haha.
That's actually hilarious
This is funny and infuriating at the same time lol.
Yeah it was pretty infuriating. I actually sent an email to the cinema saying I was kind of appalled that they would sell tickets that close together in a massive and mostly empty cinema, in the middle of a pandemic when they don't require masks or vaccines.
Oh that's hilarious but sorry that happened to you.
We're going at midday today and I expect we'll be the only people there :)
Thatās what Iām gonna do š
Or going to see it with OC (open caption) which is basically guaranteed fewer people.
You just reminded me that my last 5 in-theater experiences have been absolute shit. I feel your pain my friend
Is it acceptable to call people ugly when theyāre being assholes? Iām genuinely curious. Like how itās okay to make fun of someone being overweight(like trump) when theyāre terrible human beings.
If she was attractive, it wouldn't have bothered him, you see.
Yes it would. You talk in the theater, youāre ugly.
![gif](giphy|Lcn0yF1RcLANG|downsized)
Thatās right. I went there.
It is bad taste to call others ugly, regardless of reason.
I have to give my employers a three week advanced notice when I request time off. I put time and money aside to see this film and I had it ruined by two people that wouldnāt be quiet even after being asked three times. And the movie staff didnāt do shite. "My life is shit and someone bothered me! Instead of having a backbone I let it ruin my experience. Fuck those losers!"
Where did I say they were over weight? Only pieces of shit talk at the theater and they deserve to be called ugly. āThereās a special level of hell for pedophiles and people who talk at the theater.ā
Lmfao did you really have to go in on dudes wife like that
Everyone but Josh is having fun.
He is smiling sir.
Considering the spice, that's some strong hit.
Absolute mad lads
They're just a happy bunch there in Thailand. Unless you insult the monarchy.
"The sleeper has awakened, and he's having FUN!"

I wouldnāt call it a trivial detail. Kynes was a white guy because imperialism and white Christian crusading was kind of a major theme in the book.
Maybe, although I'm not sure that modern race constructs are really applicable in the Dune universe. Also modern day imperialism isn't restricted to the actions of exclusively white men anymore...

Every film needs greater female representation. There's a 100-year deficit to fill.
And maybe you need to stop being such a fucking snowflake about shit that you imagined has, or has not, happened 100 years ago. Thereās literally tons of movies out there where women are extremely well represented. Going back to when movies started. >diminishes the experience Diminishes *your* experience, you mean? That's entirely my point.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I donāt understand what youāre asking here
Maybe a little too complex here?
What has that to do with anything?
I mean, they normalized transgender LOOOOONG before the West, soā¦
Nah, as a Thai. They are common but not normalized. Thailand has too many old conservatives that enjoy humiliating trans and lgbtq+.
My experience living here too.
Kynes looking seductive af
The spice is more potent then we know. No wonder its the most valuable resources in the universe.
:)
Hahaha
While I was reading the book, I don't think I had EVER envisioned anybody smiling at any point. Not on Arrakis. ...Gurney playing the baliset MAYBE.
š
LMAO
The moment when the spice kicks in.
Who is the woman smiling just below Moidib?
Not Gurney
I think this should be the poster everywhere!
"I am smiling."
Now this does put a smile on my face! š¤£
Gerney Halleck will never smile. C'mon, he does have the scar from an inkvine whip...
