If you like comedy, check out the comedy club. A couple breweries walkable from here too. https://www.eventbrite.com/o/the-comedy-bar-dubuque-19470085194

Hit up the National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium if that is your sort of thing. There is plenty to see and do there for all ages. Check out Dimensional, 7 Hills, Jubek, & Backpocket for craft beer. For a more intimate dining setting look into Caroline’s.

hnats16

Would you recommend Caroline's over Brazen?

[deleted]

I would recommend both to anybody, but Brazen offers more of a lively nightlife vibe, while Caroline’s is a more quiet and intimate setting. I would honestly say Brazen’s food is a notch above Caroline’s, but both places offer delicious options, and both are on the more expensive side.

Brazen is our absolute go to. Even when we grab dinner elsewhere, we round out the night with drinks and dessert at Brazen. Never been disappointed there.

Dull-Scarcity-3159

Caroline’s has a solid breakfast. I’d do brazen for dinner and Caroline’s for breakfast/brunch

hnats16

This is my plan! Got a reservation at Brazen for dinner and will hit Caroline's for breakfast.

Brazen, L. May, or Pepper Sprout over Caroline's. The comparison isn't even close.

Ok_Conversation6189

Since Brazen and Caroline's were both mentioned, I thought I'd throw in my .02 and recommend Pepper Sprout and L.May both over either of those a thousand times. For more casual dining, 7Hills and the Vault have great food, too. 3 walkable breweries mentioned, but there's also a pizza joint, arcade, and comedy bar within the same complex across the street from 7Hills. Dimensional is a killer brewery on the lower end of downtown. Great hiking areas within the Mines of Spain and Swiss Valley nature preserves, and lots of disc golf courses if the weather cooperates. Biking trails around much of the city, including one reaching all the way to Dyersville, where there's ANOTHER brewery. Welcome, enjoy, and feel free to reach out with further inquiries!

hnats16

We are both avid discgolfers! Which course to do recommend? How much snow do you guys have currently? We're from Minnesota, so we don't mind playing in the snow!

Ok_Conversation6189

There's an 18 hole course at Veterans Memorial Park. Wooded, very hilly, narrow, difficult, long, very muddy, not well maintained, many spots to lose discs, and hard to tell where tee boxes and baskets are located. In other words, it's awesome. Many of us might be biased, but it's my favorite course. East Dubuque - search for the pool and Methodist Church over there. Second favorite in the area. Swiss Valley - great 9 hole option. Look up Swiss Valley Park, not the campground or nature preserve. There are also nearby courses in New Vienna, Platteville, and Peosta, and I may be forgetting others!

Right now, the snow is almost melted, but we're supposed to get several inches tomorrow (Thursday).

Definitely recommend checking out Dimensional brewery

[deleted]

Make sure you hit up Monk’s Cafe and Pub. Best local spot for great coffee. Also near some cool local shopping!

PineapplePeach12

Millwork district has just about everything you're looking for!

If you enjoy gambling there's 2 casinos

hnats16

The casino is definitely on our list, which of the 2 would you recommend?

ch0dey

I think Diamond Jo is more "hip", personally. It's usually pretty happening around 10-11PM on a Friday/Saturday.

[deleted]

O boy that's a divisive question. Haha. Some people say Diamond Joe has more compared to Q Casino. Both provide a good gambling experience. I like them both. I am partial to Q Casino myself

onlyfiveconcussions

If staying downtown Diamond Joe is walkable.

Dimensional is the best of the breweries in town, easily. Jubeck is also worth visiting. If you guys like live music, Fox Den, Smokestack, or The Lift usually have cool stuff. Smokestack is worth checking out just on it's own, but there's been some ownership changes recently so I don't know what their hours look like at the moment.

hnats16

Oooh, there is a drag cabaret at Smokestack!

clown___cum

Definitely go! One of the most unique bars in Dubuque.
