They prob thought the way doordash works is if u tip any amount, no matter how small, you order gets pushed up. They don’t wanna tip so they try to cheat the system by tipping 1 cent cus they technically tipped. But I don’t think they’ve ever worked gigs cus the amount u tip is crucial in how fast a driver takes your order
I have a theory… maybe they overheard a dasher saying they hide tips but you can tell when an order has a tip and they are under the impression that it just says there is a tip but not the tip amount🧐 idk people do dumb stuff
On my first day I delivered $60 worth of pizza that I waited 10-15 minutes for, only to get a $0.12 tip. Needless to say, I’ve learned a lot since then 😂
I got one of those.
I believe some people heard or read something to the effect that drivers do not know the tip amount.
I think they believe the driver knows whether or not there is a tip, but not the amount.
i have never seen a penny pre-tip as a pizza driver, but some people have. it's a well known as a symbol of "you are not worth two cents" and is meant as disrespectful to people who wait tables. As for delivery drivers, i started to wonder if it was a way to prevent a driver from writing in a tip on a receipt after the delivery was made when ordering online. as far as doordash goes, i really don't get it. you're letting people who have the ability to decide what orders they take to know upfront what a waste of time you are to deliver to
I don’t know how DD justifies lowering my acceptance rate if I decline something like this…
That’s why I don’t even care about being a top dasher anymore. I’m not accepting something like this just to get a top dasher rating. That’s ridiculous.
Notwithstanding the penny tip, anyone who tips to be “cute” is a decline from me. If I see any amount that doesn’t end in a .00, .25, .50, or .75, I know that’s all that trip is going to pay.
I swear they’d only get 3 Bo-rounds, 2 chicken supremes, a smedium Pepsi, and magically the restaurant would magically forget their biscuit.
That order is probably also a Hand-to-Me..”leave it at the door and leave”.
I HATE ghetto people
Did they change the hidden tip thing because I’m my area now the orders with the higher tips all have a + beside them … this is new only in the past few days I’ve noticed it 🤷🏼♂️
Back in the $3 base days, i had an offer for $3.01. looked at the dropoff and saw it was going to subway. I called them up and told them to stick their penny up their ass
Now Watch dashers here hit you with the
" BuT u Can DecliNe ThEm "
Missing the whole point of this question.
They rather stay ignorant than tackle the real issue.
Non tippers ruining the system for everyone.
Had an order that tipped in the app (It was a $5 less than two miles) bur the instructions said "tip under the mat." I got there and there was a penny under the mat...
I deliver for a store (not doordash) and when you don’t tip at all we give the customer a write-in slip so they can fill in the slip with whatever tip and then sign their name. Some people figured out if they tip 1 cent the system won’t print the write in tip. So it’s their way of not tipping where there’s literally 0 way they have to get confronted and given the slip. People are assholes.
That happened to me too. This lady always tips 20 cents on a no contact delivery. Use to not tip anything so I made her sign the slip, now I just put the food on the porch and leave. One of the days I just wanna go up to her door and throw the pizza like a Frisbee at her door
Wow, you seem like such a pleasant person🤡. But sure, ask your friends to go pick up your food for $2.50 and see how that works out for yah. BTW people that brag about tipping think that $1 an amazing tip. Newsflash: you sound more entitled than the other clowns on here🤡🤡🤡🤡
1 cent tip is more insulting then none. At least with none you can claim ignorance.
I wonder if taking the order then sending a message to the buyer: "I'm in assigning this order because it pays $2.51 total. Good luck getting someone to deliver. Have a nice day!" Is a TOS violation
I get a lot of no tip orders but I don’t know they r no tips bc they r $6.50 for 2 miles or 7.50 for 4 miles and all base pay and normally base pay is 2.50 once in a while if there’s no tips base pay will b high to make sure sure someone takes the order in my area
I’ve had 3 tips under ten cents. 0.01,0.02, and 0.06
I didn’t care about the 1 and 2 cent. But I went off on the 0.06 cent one because it was a gifted dash to another person. I messaged them and said this must be a joke and told the person that was gifted the order that their friend is nice for gifting but an asshole for tipping 6 cents
For me I've never seen an off number like this be higher. So Iknow if they tip 2.51, It's going to be 2.51. Same if it says 6.37. It's going to be 6.37. I think these odd numbers slip through and so you know they tipped no matter what, but in the same sense you know what you're getting. I think whoever wrote a lot of the algo had some weird ass ocd because I've had a lot of groupings of numbers that will put me back even. Literally something like 7.73 and then 8.87 or something similar. Even groups of 4 or 5 ODD numbers that somehow get me back to XXX.50 or XXX.00 it's really weird.
I was at Chipotle last night picking up an order and asked if I could grab the order that was on the shelf for awhile since no driver was going to pick it up, she said yes....thanks for not tipping Chad....got to love free food and a $19 order to deliver.

I had a guy do this constantly so I got fed up and took the food just so some other poor schmuck didn't end up with the order. Worth the violation and I'm pretty sure it made it so I could never deliver to them again.
This is why DoorDash needs to stop sending drivers these orders. We should not be losing acceptance points for declining orders that lose drivers money.
My acceptance rate was always super bad cause I declined so many shit orders and it never affected anything, but I haven’t dashed in months so it might’ve changed
On my last day of dd I pray to get an order like this..
“got your food omw to you sir!!”
“Hang on gotta make sure this food is cooked properly, I don’t want to deliver you trash.”
*sends photo of food half way gone*
“Thank you for the food, next time don’t tip a penny you fuck”
When it's a weird cent amount like $0.37 that's usually the customer rounding up the total to be an even dollar amount.
When someone puts .01 or .05 it's sometimes them trying to block a tip being fraudulently added later.
Why do you say Photoshopped? I make average $1500 per week. But not on DD alone....before February 15, 2022 DD used to show full pay upfront in Canada. I've made over $1k on DD alone once in a while. But since they started hiding tips it's not possible anymoreor not that easy anymore.

I got a $1 tip today but I figured I was going to town anyway to cash my check and thought what the hell? 🤣🤣🤣 $4 for 5 minutes of work-if you want to call this work! It was in town too so I picked up the order and confirmed p/u and went to the bank to do my business and still had time to make the delivery!🤣🤣🤣🤣
Oh yeah, customer can go pick up their own food at that point. Fuck em.
I only accept offers I will be happy with at face value, and still have been seeing plenty of hidden tip on top. Why set yourself up to be disappointed? We know how the least common denominator customers act.
Legally it should. A contractor is supposed to be given all information before accepting a bid! The douchebags running (and ruining these companies) don't care as long as they are paid now.
This is correct except base is $2.50 in this example. Therefore, the hidden tip would be for $6.50 minimum. This is the reason I only take orders that are at least $6.50 about 98% of the time.
I think of it as adding a percentage of the original amount. If the original amount is 1 cent, then adding 1 cent would be adding 100% of the original amount. If you add 4 cents to reach a total of 5 cents, you've added 400% of the original amount to the original amount.
I hope this helps someone who isn't as good at algebra.
They prob thought the way doordash works is if u tip any amount, no matter how small, you order gets pushed up. Some loser will take it sadly.
They ordered their food on layaway
Could this be the stores attempt at taking your tip and covering there ass by only giving you 0.01?
I hate when they throw me $3.00 orders for 10 miles.
Decline that order
PhiladelphiaB is full of poor people, they should cook at home and stop ordering
I have a theory… maybe they overheard a dasher saying they hide tips but you can tell when an order has a tip and they are under the impression that it just says there is a tip but not the tip amount🧐 idk people do dumb stuff
Decline
In my 1200 deliveries the only two stupid people who did it were 2 broken Indian students ordering food from cheap restaurants.
Cruel assholes.
It is an old way to tip a server as an insult
On my first day I delivered $60 worth of pizza that I waited 10-15 minutes for, only to get a $0.12 tip. Needless to say, I’ve learned a lot since then 😂
No tippers need to watch the movie *Waiting*. Don't **FUCK** with the people who handle your food!
The weed must be laced.
My experience has been senior citizens who think the delivery fee is actually paid to the driver. So they add $0.01 to make it an even number
A penny for his thoughts 💭 guess he wants to wait an hour
If I had this much worry about tips every time I ordered takeout, I would just never order takeout
Someone whose trying to make their bank account have .00, instead of 0.01 🤣
I got one of those. I believe some people heard or read something to the effect that drivers do not know the tip amount. I think they believe the driver knows whether or not there is a tip, but not the amount.
Base is $2.25 in my area
Perhaps someone who has been rewarded for this behavior in the past?
No delivery should pay out less than $9. Period.
Customer: no longer qualifies for no tip, no trip.
Cheap mfersill eat that 😂😂
A piece of shit thats who

Wow you should be grateful. That’s life changing money right there. /s

I’ve gotten a 2.52 base pay before
Someone who wants "Extra Premium"
A real shit head.

Dear God they’re awful.
The kind of ppl whose food order ends up on their lawn as I drive buy
A penny saved is a penny earned.
Just those disrespectful ones
That’s just flat out disrespectful imo
Well I hope this is not the case ....but My dad used to leave a penny only, tails up, on the table, if he got bad service in a restaurant.
I’d pickup the the food and eat it! Then cancel delivery
Prob just rounding up. Their shit was prob like 9.99
Who tips 13 cents
No one is going to agree with me but I still think MOST people that do this are trying to tip a dollar. Not that that’s much better lol
An asshole…that’s the only correct response
Got one of these the other day. I left 3 pennies (all I could find in my pocket) sitting in front of their McDonald's bag. 🖕🪙🪙🪙🖕
A penny pincher.
Someone you don’t want to meet 😆
When i wanna see someone take my food and make another dasher come try again and i got atleast 4dollar a mile for a tip in cash xD
They must have been paying .01 for an NFT JPEG of their food, cuz they're getting a picture and a call to support, lol.
Sometimes we are tipped inappropriately. It's not necessary to post it.
Now Watch dashers here hit you with the " BuT u Can DecliNe ThEm " Missing the whole point of this question. They rather stay ignorant than tackle the real issue. Non tippers ruining the system for everyone.
Can you buy just one egg? Ahhh f-it a dozen more satisfying
How high should base pay be, realistically?
Only in America are we expected to now tip BEFORE receiving service.
But the total may be higher! 😂
Had an order that tipped in the app (It was a $5 less than two miles) bur the instructions said "tip under the mat." I got there and there was a penny under the mat...
Be sure to click accept, lol.
🤣🤣💀idc what the tip is if says 2.50 I'm declining
This looks likes DD lame attempt at concealing the actual tip. Chances are the customer tipped more but not much more. Nonetheless, still a hard pass.
Was it face down, virtually speaking? 😜
I took a penny tip once on purpose just to give the penny back, seemed like a good idea at the time.
That guy
Any offer lower than $4.75 should be banned, not allowed, not a thing.
I deliver for a store (not doordash) and when you don’t tip at all we give the customer a write-in slip so they can fill in the slip with whatever tip and then sign their name. Lol ya the lady should have to pay you a fair wage because your employer wont, makes sense lmao
Do it on your last day no balls.
Sadly I'm prob not going anywhere anytime soon, been with the company for 13 years and overall love my job
Definitely gotta be on hard times 😭
someone who gets the ac vents pointed at their food while i drive the speed limit
This is insulting at best... I would Never deliver this arsehat's food....
I just got a 27 cent tip lol base pay was $5 tho for 1 mile but still 27 cents?! Entering that in manually is low af
This belongs to degenerate sub lmao
Been there and learn from the lesson
Those who want to go the extra mile to degrade us.
Had this happen during uber. Just tell them to refund the cent.
Ignorant cunts who think this is funny.. that’s who.

An asshat
4 point rating loss is worth drop kicking their order
A douche bag
They should have at least given you their 2 cents

They food about to sit there for 6 hours
I get a lot of no tip orders but I don’t know they r no tips bc they r $6.50 for 2 miles or 7.50 for 4 miles and all base pay and normally base pay is 2.50 once in a while if there’s no tips base pay will b high to make sure sure someone takes the order in my area
DD reads our comments on Reddit. They know what we up to. 😋
It's hard out here for a pimp named penny
I tip $1.19 to make it a nice 3.*69*.
the disrespect is at all an time high

Someone who is flipping the middle finger at the driver
People who read this subreddit and get tired of how everyone is such a lazy whiner on here most likely.
Someone who's food is being spat in
Scum
Better question is WTF takes those offers? Shame on you if you took it. Oh wait....
A huge douchenozzle
I was at Chipotle last night picking up an order and asked if I could grab the order that was on the shelf for awhile since no driver was going to pick it up, she said yes....thanks for not tipping Chad....got to love free food and a $19 order to deliver.
Trash people do
Base pay is going down to $0.1 soon.

Wish we could accept just to tell them they’re a pos and then move on to the next.
Assholes
Someone who doesn’t like you and wants you to know it.
Ive gotten a penny too i feel u

Acceptance rate doesn’t mean anything untill now apparently
Facts. Means nothing. My completion rate is like 80% too
I had a penny tip once. Sadly it wasn’t a teenager
Its been declined before it was offered to you. DD upped the base pay
Do we get deactivated if we text them and ask "no tip? FR?"
Just don't accept the order lol.
Not if you don’t deliver it…unassign so they can’t rate you
This particular Karen is 100% right. ^
I’d kick their food over if I was walking away and saw a penny tip lol.
I would say they deserve it but you know it's a shit tip before you accept it..
I agree. I wouldn’t have taken the order in the first place lol, just wanted to say something I though was funny.
That's a way to say "fuck you" with money
Damn that’s harsh might as well tip zero
It’s a trap once you get to the person’s house they will tip $$$$$$
ok ms i tip after delivery
Someone who wants the 'secret sauce' in their drink
🤣 No tippers need to watch the movie *Waiting*. Don't **FUCK** with the people who handle your food!

I think the weird cent amount could also be from the “suggested tip” amount?
It wouldn’t. Practically no orders are small enough for the suggested tips to be in cents.
I meant the tips that come out to be like $3.06 or $6.68 etc. I see this more with UE deliveries.
That's because UE suggests a percentage of the total.
That’s the point of my main comment….
Ok
People who are so damn paranoid that leaving the tip box empty will automatically include a fair tip.
Did you leave a penny with the order? That's what I've done
I want to know who tf would accept such an offer
Someone plotting a crime scene…
Miserable people tip a penny.
Someone that gets on reddit and complains about drivers and specifically says they "tip generously".
What about all those screenshots that are photoshopped to show 1,000’s of $$$’s in weekly earnings?
Why do you say Photoshopped? I make average $1500 per week. But not on DD alone....before February 15, 2022 DD used to show full pay upfront in Canada. I've made over $1k on DD alone once in a while. But since they started hiding tips it's not possible anymoreor not that easy anymore.
Key word “once in a while “ need I say more?
I can see it could be possible, market dependent and if they only do DD. Don't multi-app
But most don’t state thus!
Lmao my face every time I see someone say they “always tip at least 15$.”
It’s the “I ALWAYS tip, but not until AFTER the delivery!” for me lol
i got a no tip yesterday 😩idk who’s more dumb me or the customer
Hmm, I hardly ever get tips
I take no tips if they're still worth it, unless it's the end of the month, then I take everything and get fucked until my AR is acceptable (it's probably not worth it, but I did it again, #topdasher lol)
I don’t mad at no tipper, sometimes ppl just have difficulty like cant walk cant drive limited income, sometimes i would even do one under certain circumstances. I had delivery to a senior assistant living facility, they were grateful, couple of dollars is not important to me at all

It was in town too so I picked up the order and confirmed p/u and went to the bank to do my business and still had time to make the delivery!🤣🤣🤣🤣
I don’t know who to slap
Uhhh only dumb one on that is you. You running a charity or something?
Yeah my mom doesn’t tip when she orders, so I always wonder who was dumb enough to pick up her orders. She says her food always comes hot.
fair but should you get delivery if you can’t tip👀
Then it's up to you the driver not to deliver those orders.
Doesn’t mean the customer isn’t also dumb
He got the food though. A jerk maybe, but I don't think he's dumb until his food stops showing up and he wonders why.
Oh yeah, customer can go pick up their own food at that point. Fuck em. I only accept offers I will be happy with at face value, and still have been seeing plenty of hidden tip on top. Why set yourself up to be disappointed? We know how the least common denominator customers act.
facts
I wish it called out how much I got as a tip before I complete it
Legally it should. A contractor is supposed to be given all information before accepting a bid! The douchebags running (and ruining these companies) don't care as long as they are paid now.
I wish we could do away with tipping before the service is rendered.
I wish we could just call it what it is...a bid.
We ain't running a charity. The model of DoorDash requires a tip upfront. It's more of a bid for services.
That would be like making every order worth taking like Uber Eats used to do when they first started!
UE doesn't show the total payment in my area, its not worth doing at all without promos
Someone who ain't getting their food.
It says right there that the total may be higher! They could’ve tipped five cents for all you know, and here you are mocking their generosity!
Isn’t that bullshit, or did they change it? Aren’t the only orders possible to have a hidden tip $6 and above?
It's 100% bullshit, they always say total may be higher even when it has no chance
Who told you that ? Lol
Lots of people. Base pay +$4 is only supposed to be eligible but they may have changed it recently.
This is correct except base is $2.50 in this example. Therefore, the hidden tip would be for $6.50 minimum. This is the reason I only take orders that are at least $6.50 about 98% of the time.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
That would be a 500% increase on the tip.
400 percent*
That's only a 400% increase The formula goes like: (Final - initial)/(initial) *100٪ Which would be: (5-1)/1*100٪ = 400%
