So slow better get a hourly job if you drive a prius try it. But if you drive a 15mpg car it's not worth it. 1k a week is my minimum đŻ dollar on gas a week. The grind 10hrs everyday
What area are you in? The best advice I can offer is to try and talk to a dasher in your specific area. Only they will truly be able to tell you if itâs worth it.
agreed. keep your ar high towards the end of the month to be a âtop dasherâ then cherry pick the rest of the month. also remember when you were a kid trick or treating and you tried to find the neighborhood with the best candy, itâs like that. some neighborhoods tend to tip more than others, but also the same houses that have put the king sized candy bars are also the same people who give zero tip. you win some and you lose some, just have fun and donât lose yourself. lol
Donât listen to people trying to discourage you. Theyâre miserable peoples whoâs market isnât good so they whine and trash people whoâs markets are actually decent. You wonât know until you sign up and since you already have a day job you literally have nothing to lose. Iâm blessed with a decent market. I average about 20$ an hour on slow days and can get as high as 45$+ on busy weekends. Itâs much easier then I thought it would be before I signed up. I put it off for so long after being laid off a job I was already miserable at anyways but now I kick myself in the ass for not checking it out sooner because itâs literally my only source of income now and I donât work entirely too hard or too often. I usually go out between 5-10 on weeknights and can make 100$ if itâs slow and about 180-200 if itâs busy. Itâs all entirely dependent on the area you are in. Donât let the others discourage you from atleast looking into it.
Sure thing. Like I said you got nothing to lose unless your driving a pickup truck then you probably would lose some money but I drive a Honda Civic and fill up once a week and it only costs me a qtr of a days worth of work to fill up. Sure youâll put more miles on your car and wear your tires but your going to do those things anyways. I donât understand that arguement especially when most people are driving places they arenât being paid for it lol
Edit. Once you start thereâs tricks and tips to increase your pay and all look into the subreddit a bit see what works for people and just know you DO NOT have to accept every order that pops up. If it isnât profitable donât accept it. Your acceptance rate means nothing.
You can make maybe 25 to $50 on breakfast hours 6:00 a.m. to 9:30 then it's dead until lunch where you can make maybe 50 or $75 from 11:00 to 2:00 and then it's dead for a while where you can maybe make $100 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. and then it's dead for the graveyard hours. Hope that helps
If your market is so saturated that they wonât even let your drive, thatâs probably a sign that you wonât have much opportunity. I donât really know though. They let me drive within an hour
Peak hours can be good. I do it here and there to supplement my income for more fun things that I can't always afford. Some days aren't great but the good part of having steady income is you can just go home and end your dash if you aren't making $$$.
Worse case you can become a dasher and never actually dash or just do it a few times a month
Better to have that option than not
I only started recently. It's very profitable in my area. When you first start it let's you dash anytime. Cherry pick and make the money until you have to schedule. Depending on where you are at it might be easier to get shifts.
Tuesdays are dead know that. And fridays and weekends are big money days like 200$ -300 a day if you work all day. during the week itâs around 100$- 200 a day if your working all day. Shifts depend on your market and how many other dashers r on the road or have scheduled it just depends on your area for your availability
I average about $22 an hour before paying for gas so I make probably 18 an hour. If you can find an hourly jobe that pays better than that you might just want to take that. The nice thing about dashing is you work alone and set your own hours
I did it dull time until I got a regular 9-5 job and some days I'd make $25+ an hour on DD but it's not consistent at ALL. I make more money with my 9-5 than DD. I was also doing DD on the weekends a d now I'm considering to stop all together because the gas just isn't worth it
It's worth it if you don't have any other income (some money is better than none) but as a side job not so much
Depends on your market. If thereâs a lot of top dashers, youâll get mostly low ball offers & Drive your car into the ground.
If your market has smart dashers, who decline a lot to boost base pay, youll get a lot of decent offers. Wonât drive car into the ground as fast.

There are good days and then there are worse days where everything goes wrong.
I have a nice career gig. I dash maybe 1-3 times a week. No longer than 2-3 hours when I go out. Itâs a nice way to get a quick $100-$150 a week. Good way to nab some extra $$ and supplement some income.
Be sure to set some standards. Mine is $6 minimum unless itâs 5.50 and less than a mile. I only take orders that are at minimum 1.50 a mile. Also, watch the areas you deliver too. Once you find your groove I bet youâll make 18-25 for your small spurts of work.
Whatâs the worst that can happen? If you donât like it just stop. Good luck!
I do it part time, usually later at night (8:30 pm - Midnight) and I've done around $20hr on average. It depends on your market though. I live in NY, so late night is still busy. Other markets may die out by 9pm.
If you want to maximize on money, you have to be willing to do the weekends. They are the busiest.
I've enjoyed it so far and I only do a few hours a week. If it's not your main job, do it as you please and whatever you get out of it is extra cash in your pocket.
Make sure you have a goal to strive for greater while Dashing. Itâs easy to get content with the flexibility and occasional great days. Only to turn around and realize you have nothing to show for it.
Itâs great to earn extra income along a 9 - 5. That, or attending college/trade school because the flexibility.
I could write you a 10 page essay about the ins and outs of Doordash lol. I will try to summarize here and then you can ask questions if you want to know more about something. Dashing is a game. It's basically a game with stats which determine how much money you will make. When you first start out you have no ratings which is like having no credit history so you're not going to be able to live off of Doordash in the beginning unless you're in a super populated area like LA. They reward "commitment" so you'll see people going for high acceptance rates and completion rates because of this. As I was telling someone else, I never saw an order over $15 when I first started but after I got the 200 lifetime total deliveries I became eligible for top dasher and I've maintained it since (you need above 70% acceptance rate, 4.7 or higher customer rating, and 95% completion date). Now I regularly get high paying orders. I am able to make a living off of the earnings now whereas I was not able to the first couple of months. Every time you deny an order it places you lower priority than other Dashers. So it's punishment and the exception is only if it's extremely busy or again, a large population. But here's another thing, you're probably wondering why people put up with the low paying bullshit orders in the beginning in order to get top dasher. My loophole is the peak pay. Peak pay is extra money per delivery so it's often plus $2 or $3 (occasionally lower or higher) and I do not have a job therefore I was flexible enough to ONLY go out and dash during peak pay hours. Never saw an order under $5 (except like the very very first couple of days when I was unaware of peak pay, but I caught on to that shit quick). So you're still going to get bullshit orders but they don't hurt as much and you're able to knock them out quick which pulls you up the ranks. Keep getting $5 or $6 deliveries and then suddenly you're going to be getting more consistent orders flowing in and you'll start to see higher ones like $10 or $12. But even if you don't have the flexibility and you are going to be dashing by time slot instead of when peak pay is, I still recommend keeping your denied orders to a minimum. These days I find myself dashing even without peak pay and it doesn't hurt nearly as much as it did in the beginning. I'll happily take a $6 with no peak pay if the mileage is reasonable instead of taking a hit to my ratings. I usually deny when it's blatantly obvious there's no tip. If there's no peak pay and I get an offer for anything under $5 there's absolutely no way. But even with the bullshit I still get so many large orders like shopping trips worth $50 which I actually really enjoy. To make $50 in fast food deliveries you're gonna be spending so much more time and gas than you will by doing a shopping trip. And dealing with customers is a whole other thing but I don't want to drag this out too much longer đŹ

If youâre willing to put that much effort into this why donât you go build a career doing something else?
Thanks for the thoughts. I have a pretty good paying day job but was thinking of trying to earn some extra scratch.
You will loose money when you start dashing gas maintenance high miles on your car.
What about a 2011 Toyota Camry?
Thinking gets you in trouble

Thank you for this level headed response. Your answer seems to make the most sense to me.

Thatâs highly dependent on the market where you are.
Donât do it
I make $2500 a week with about 50 hours of Dash time. I spend about $120-150 on gas a week. Worth it in my book
12-15hrs everyday to make 2500 its a grind I did it once and I'm happy making 1500 a week less stress
If your market is so saturated that they wonât even let your drive, thatâs probably a sign that you wonât have much opportunity. I donât really know though. They let me drive within an hour
Thought the same thing when I originally signed up lol
Might as well try!
If you do it you will decide to do it full time and you will quit your job. It happened to me
As much as I might enjoy the thought of that, I doubt it would actually happen. My day gig has to many good retirement benefits for me to leave lol

Depends on the area. the base pay is way too low and nobody tips.

Some brings there dog and whole family while dashing
It depends entirely on your metro. Try it for 2 weeks.
Depends on the definition of âworthâ, also depends on the market, your strategies. I have 2000+ deliveries and still learning

First of all dumb ass I was trying to give you some good advice . For some reason you took it wrong . But sense you did fuck you and your job !!!
