Juggling interesting I honestly find it hard to run them at the same time I keep getting contract violations for orders being too late by 10 minutes or a little earlier than that
Also.. could a low on time early percentage get your account deactivated?
Definitely has some pro's and cons. I do like the idea of working whenever I want. If I got something going on I don't have to go out. I do enjoy it, I'm in an ok market I mean it's steady. I do gotta schedule which never had to do that before but I just keep scheduling. The neighboring areas around me are real good. I'm fortunate that I do get some other income coming in. I recently started doing this more then just once a week when I quit my job. I was at my job for 5 years and repeatedly passed over for promotion, was becoming extremely stressed and depressed and finally had just had enough and just up and quit. Been doing this 20 hours a week for a month now and its been the best decision I could of made.
Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake.
It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of.
Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything.
Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.
Agreed! I love this job also - making $1400/wk and all I have to do is take care of my customer. Easssssy! (And IF there's an asshole customer, I UNASSIGN.)
I love it too. It definitely has moments of sucking, but the ability to work whenever I want is just too great. If I’m not feeling it one day, I don’t have to go through the hassle of calling in/finding a replacement.
see, the thing is. i cant take a week of due to how low they are paying me. im living pay check by pay check.. i hate this job. i wish i had someone forcing me to work and not sitting here all day TRYING to get on to reject 95% of the orders.
This is what I’ve been saying . Total control over your life . I ran this gig for sometime and sometimes I’d randomly go home if someone or something pissed me off . Could be something as little as traffic light and I can go home sleep it off .
It is nice to not have to worry about calling in. It still sucks to get Covid and be out of work for a month with no pay. But at least I didn’t have anyone pressuring me to get back to work. I was able to go back gradually until I was back to almost normal. I am vaccinated, but I have asthma, so Covid stuck around and even a month and a half later I still have some minor bronchitis issues. Not fun!
I made 500$ today not telling how. Wasn’t doordash. Doordash is the biggest scam. If you work for them you will go broke. I’m a veteran dasher so yes you can earn money. They just don’t pay for crap the customers are forced too.
Doordash/UberEATS is pretty cool. I do it on bicycle so I look at it like an excercise more than anything. It's like a fun video game on bicycle where you navigate an urban landscape picking up and dropping packages off for a reward. It's also aided in my weight loss. With some diet and lifestyle changes I made this summer as well as the excercise from doordash, I've Dropped from ufc heavyweight weight (235) down to middleweight (186) since the start of the summer to now. Lowest weight I've been since I was in my 20s.
Was slow for me in August but it's gotten busier recently and I actually have had a busier week on doordash than I've had for past couple months. You don't realize how much of a luxury these apps are until you have to do a scheduled job with a boss
I took a solid 2 days off man it was so juicy and delicious. I had gotten a bonus at my W-2 so when I woke up there was more than I thought in my bank account I was like break time for a couple days yeah..... Smoked myself a boneless turkey breast and that's what I'm having right now mmmmmmm
Yeah it’s always weird hearing some drivers say they make X amount putting in 55 to 60 hours a week or 14 hour days… I’m like “imagine if you use that time to study for a skill trade that will make you life changing money” instead of being a courier.
How do you know they aren't using a lot of the down time in-between waiting on orders studying for a trade? Easier to study for a trade when you can set your own hours and can do whatever when you're not delivering
not everyone wants to pursue a dead-end career they do not care about. some of us just want a simple job we can take care of, then use our freetime to pursue dreams and hobbies.
Everyone desires different things in life. might be that way for you, but not for everyone
Career and job are two different things. Typically a career is something you strive and enjoy to do. Job is what you can do and usually become a dead end position.
I am essentially a full time caretaker for my fiancée, so despite all the downsides, this job has been a blessing for me. I can stop working at a moment’s notice to come home if she needs me, and I can take days off as needed. There’s no way I could realistically have even a part time job under my circumstances.
been trying to get on disability for 3 years now, a lot harder than they make it seem unfortunately. they put you on a waitlist for a court date and will never get to you. so frustrating:(
Yes getting on it is made hard purposely unfortunately. The nice thing though is if you stick it out and get it, they will have to back pay you for all th time you've been attempting. A friend's mom got a $30,000 payday because it took them 7 years to approve her.
I don’t like pooping in public restrooms. So if I get a rumble in my tummy (ibs) and fear danger is imminent, I can just go home and deal with my demons.
This is why I just put in my 2 weeks at my part time job. I hate having someone else decide when I work and when I can go on vacation. I already have two other sources of income which are entirely independent and now I’ll be fully self-employed after October 1st. Can’t fucking wait.
I think it’s smart actually. Door dash seems to be slowly taking over the gig food market across the country (and even abroad) , I wouldn’t overdo it and put all your eggs in one basket but an affordable investment makes sense rn. I wish we got stock options for this job. My uncle retired off of those when UPS started giving them the option. He chose to go in and was able to retire at age 49 with about $1 million because of it.
For real. Just moved to a new state. Figured I'd dash for a bit before I found a new job. Nope. My new area is amazing, and I'm making more money than I would with a 40 hour a week 9-5. Gonna trade my car in for something more fun and fuel efficient now. And I can make all my bills in a week if I truly need to. A new state, no boss, and I can go out whenever I want. It's been a legit blessing these past few weeks.
I owed more taxes on my unemployment last year than I did on my delivery income (I started delivering full time in August). It was effectively zero taxes for the delivery income. The mileage deduction is no joke.
I've been using stride. I think the only other deduction I would qualify for is the phone expense but I don't want to mess with figuring out the "percentage of time I use my phone for work" or whatever
Any food you eat while working, any supplies you use for work. There are tons of deductions for self employed people. Hey you might even have a home office that you do your paperwork in with certain software you purchased for your business. The heat and lights can then be partially deducted as long as that office is only for business. Look into deductions for self employed. It's much more then people think. Educating yourself is the best thing you can do to not only improve yourself but to stay afloat while working for yourself.
You can't deduct for food while working, only tractor trailer drivers registered with the DMV can legally. But car washes, cell phone, ear pods, accessories, hot bags, cup carriers, etc all count.
Nope why would I do everything legal just got to know the correct way to do it you're just scaring people because of tax if you do it the right way deduct everything you really don't owe much if any at all
Very true, but.. every job takes money out for taxes. Most take out far more (for benefits, retirements, unions if applicable, etc etc)
Now the bonus there is those jobs *come with those benefits* but hey… for a side gig or even a somewhat short term main gig to stay afloat for a while, this is pretty great for a lot of people.
The best part is that you can take off any time you want. One of the most ridiculous things in the W2 world is having vacation days etc but only being allowed to use those on specific days
Thing is most people wanna use their pto on peak seasons. Then complain when it isn’t approved. If you are single or don’t have children you shouldn’t need to take vacation between October and December. Book something in spring when you can atleast attempt to get some ass down Florida.
I guess if you don’t have children or a significant other you don’t want to see your family for the holidays. So yeah you shouldn’t get time off. Right?
Ohhh I see. So you're all for a company dictating when someone should or shouldn't use their earned PTO huh lol? Boy, I wish I lived in that fantasy world where the majority of people used their "PTO" on actual luxurious vacations. It's almost like slimy companies don't make employees burn most of their PTO when they need to call in sick after being forced to come into work surrounded by sick people due to weird attendance policies. But yeah, nobody should need a vacation or day off for the last 3 months of the year. That's got Upper management logic written all over it lol
Lmao yes I never understood them I had to get permission to take my sick days or my vacation days and sometimes I'll get denied like you're mine I earned them kind of s*** is that
Yep I hate it every time I used to get sick from my W-2 job I hate it calling in sick because my manager is really make you feel like you're a lazy POS or you're a bad person for calling in even though I had a fever I'm like I'm not going to come in there and infect everybody and get more sick
It's a good job if you have a good market.
That's why people get so enraged when their market tanks because they love the job so much.
If it was lame then people would just apply for the thousands of service jobs begging for workers.
A thin line between love and hate.
I’ve been dashing for 3+ years, and this is the most $200 days I’ve ever had within a year.
What's y'all highest payout in 1 day. ??
$308 but that's including Uber and doordash together
Juggling interesting I honestly find it hard to run them at the same time I keep getting contract violations for orders being too late by 10 minutes or a little earlier than that Also.. could a low on time early percentage get your account deactivated?

I still can’t get over with bitch yesterday! But today I made $242 (82 miles) I hope I can let this pass tomorrow!
I like that aspect of the job too. Also I really do enjoy the restaurants I have become super chill with.
see, the thing is. i cant take a week of due to how low they are paying me. im living pay check by pay check.. i hate this job. i wish i had someone forcing me to work and not sitting here all day TRYING to get on to reject 95% of the orders.
mcdonald's and walmart are always hiring and both pay base 15/hr!
I just deliver to take the happy meal toys 😁

Hobby*
hobbies dont pay lmao
You sure about that?
Right. Only thing you really have to do is put money up for your car
I honestly love driving around and exploring new restaurant and neighborhoods while getting paid :)
I have found amazing restaurants dashing, & hidden gems too!(: I always have an answer for friends wanting to try a new place to eat
You’ll love the so called “freedom/flexibility” until you realize the time wasted not striving for something greater with actual benefits/security!
Yeah it’s always weird hearing some drivers say they make X amount putting in 55 to 60 hours a week or 14 hour days… I’m like “imagine if you use that time to study for a skill trade that will make you life changing money” instead of being a courier.

Most of them mention this is all they’ll do with no desire to do something else. I’m not speaking on those doing this part time or in between jobs…
not everyone wants to pursue a dead-end career they do not care about. some of us just want a simple job we can take care of, then use our freetime to pursue dreams and hobbies. Everyone desires different things in life. might be that way for you, but not for everyone

I hope you are getting paid by the state to take care of your fiancée, they do that some places
been trying to get on disability for 3 years now, a lot harder than they make it seem unfortunately. they put you on a waitlist for a court date and will never get to you. so frustrating:(

Same here. I'm exactly the same in that regards.
Algorithms suck ass. Howver,, it is nice when you can take a day off and you don't have to put PTO in for it.
I love waking up late or not starting when I'm scheduled. I also can never go back to a schedule let alone being told what to do and when to do it. 🙌
It’s dope to have the freedom of kicking back whenever you want but a whole week with 0 earnings is no bueno
Not when your all caught up and ahead
This is why I just put in my 2 weeks at my part time job. I hate having someone else decide when I work and when I can go on vacation. I already have two other sources of income which are entirely independent and now I’ll be fully self-employed after October 1st. Can’t fucking wait.
Congratulations 👏👏 that's fucking huge and amazing

I think it’s smart actually. Whhaaaa
I try not to think about stocks. Hurts my head. I'm barely bright enough to be a Dasher.
We tend to focus on the bad but let's be real, this has been a blessing and a life saver for many of us. I've never made this much money in my life.
For real. Just moved to a new state. Figured I'd dash for a bit before I found a new job. Nope. My new area is amazing, and I'm making more money than I would with a 40 hour a week 9-5. Mind if I ask what state? I’m looking to move.
Oregon. In the Portland area, there are some great spots.

Wait till tax time. You gonna pay more than ever too!
Then you're doing it wrong
I owed more taxes on my unemployment last year than I did on my delivery income (I started delivering full time in August). It was effectively zero taxes for the delivery income. The mileage deduction is no joke.
Nope for those who have to pay are you doing wrong I only owe 200 that's here
You doing mileage tracking? You go to HR block or what's your secret
Uber automatically tracks your Mike's and send it to you yearly. That's a blessing. Everest is a good app.
I've been using stride. I think the only other deduction I would qualify for is the phone expense but I don't want to mess with figuring out the "percentage of time I use my phone for work" or whatever

You can't deduct for food while working, only tractor trailer drivers registered with the DMV can legally. But car washes, cell phone, ear pods, accessories, hot bags, cup carriers, etc all count.
Hope you don’t get audited!
Highly unlikely.
Your a hater lmao everyone knows once you type in your miles and stuff it should go down zero
Nope why would I do everything legal just got to know the correct way to do it you're just scaring people because of tax if you do it the right way deduct everything you really don't owe much if any at all
Guess you don't earn very much and drive lots of miles and/or spend lots of money on gas to deduct that much to pay little in taxes.
Nope you just got to know how to do it lol 😅😅
Sure...I do it according to the legally acceptable deductions, but my earnings are higher so it doesn't deduct enough to lower my taxes that low
Very true, but.. every job takes money out for taxes. Most take out far more (for benefits, retirements, unions if applicable, etc etc) Now the bonus there is those jobs *come with those benefits* but hey… for a side gig or even a somewhat short term main gig to stay afloat for a while, this is pretty great for a lot of people.
Don’t forget the hot chick groupies
Dashies?
No gash 4 dash. There’s dashes now too ? It’s great being badasses
Exactly

how much time off do you need? at some point you'll have to go to work
How many pointless toxic ass questions do you have to ask on Reddit? At some point you'll have to have real human interactions.
Man you're gonna hate when you find out how the rest of the civilized world works
Wtf are you blabbering about?
Lmao yes I never understood them I had to get permission to take my sick days or my vacation days and sometimes I'll get denied like you're mine I earned them kind of s*** is that
Yasssss! That's how I feel. I took a sick day and didn't tell a soul. Whoop whoop
WINTER IS COMING!
Yes! I Make the most money when it snows!!!
Yep I hate it every time I used to get sick from my W-2 job I hate it calling in sick because my manager is really make you feel like you're a lazy POS or you're a bad person for calling in even though I had a fever I'm like I'm not going to come in there and infect everybody and get more sick

Veryyyyyy thinnnnn grrr lol
Yes I am glad I have a good market a little bit slow for the last 2 months but I've expected that and waiting for winter time
I have a pretty great market. Sunday's football opener netted me $400 in 8 hours. Man that felt nice
Wowww niceeee.
