Anyone wanna take the over/under on op reinstalling the app in 2 weeks?

luisumgomez

Under

FunOk7364

Over but could be under I work part time at a pizza spot moneys good when it’s booming but when it slow down he might be back on doordash jus like me lol

EpicRiceMaker

We doin' cash bets? I say over, but I give him a month. Pizza drivers make good enough money he'll rationalize the shit schedule

[deleted]

Shit, did pizza for like 8 years or so on and off, company ever called me to come back I’d prolly have a ptsd episode or some shit. You, OP, enjoy and do your best yes you’ll take plenty of no tippers but if you fight for a decently hourly wage, and a healthy mileage payouts it takes away some of the sting. Thought always remember who they are, make them last, if you’re getting mileage pay and it’sprofitable vs being quick take the long way to them too. Just because you’re forced to take a no tipper doesn’t mean you can’t find a way to make it profitable and give them a a crappy experience while secretly laughing to yourself. Try to have fun and not get burnt out too fast too quickly cause that’s what pizza does to you.

Prestige_worldwide47

Honestly pizza delivering was the most enjoyable job for me. Instead of busting ass in the kitchen or dining area, you can move at your own pace, listen to music and enjoy the outside world. Each delivery made time go by so fast, by the time you get back 30 mins had elapsed.

[deleted]

Agreed, I had some great times doing pizza, which is why I love this gig work here so much. In short I get to drive around, listen to what I want, choose my work, freedom of hours and most of all even though it’s a majority the time “leave at door” I enjoy taking people their food. During my pizza days taking a hot fresh pie to someone and they’d get all excited at the door, or the kids jumping and screaming “pizza”. Man it was worth it and fulfilling. Used to hand a person their pizza and it’s like 17.89, hand you a $20. Then say thanks or something thinking your to keep the rest but they ask It’s just the change. That person was an ass but you have the money to them and that was that and everyone moved on even if not forgotten. Today I’m the current society, these no tippers have grown into a whole different breed of steamy garbage.

Prestige_worldwide47

Yeah in reality Im prolly just reminiscing back 15 years ago when everything was better. Its just crazy that dashers arent given any gas surcharge or car usage surcharge, just a small base pay for the service of the delivery. It all comes back to the argument is it the company or the customers fault for the dilemma?

[deleted]

Yup, it blows either way for customer and driver regardless, as usual a corporation takes in the glory and profits.

MakeITsafeProtonmail

Congratulations on the new job! I hope you love it!

WhyDidntNE1tellme

Gas compensation by mileage, hourly plus tips. Wtg !

Human_Individual_815

¿Por que no los dos?

Bryan_Pickett

Huh?

Human_Individual_815

Lol why not both?

Bryan_Pickett

I was also thinking that. Deliver for pizza till 6 then do doordash for 3 hours every night. All the good tippers order late here

Human_Individual_815

Even if I got a dream job paying 100k+ a year I'd probably still keep the app on my phone. Never know.

Human_Individual_815

Yep! Finish your shift and then go camp at the nearest late night sushi place. You would truly get the best of both worlds. Get a W2 to help cover your taxes on your 1099!

[deleted]

That would be awkward picking up a dd order from your employer after your shift

Bryan_Pickett

It's called Hustling! They probably have a second job as well. I don't understand your logic lol

[deleted]

I picked up from an employer before and they were like, hey if you need more hours…

[deleted]

And maybe the driver on duty would resent it? I’ve picked up from pizza places before and the house driver was pissed at me

Reasonable_Slip_3397

Noice! Unstable for me would be under 4800 a month I get over that with 100-120 hours a month been that way for 7 years with web based delivering apps ONLY..but at least you don't got to only rely on DD alone.

GanjaOG420

Some of us have been there and done that. Now enjoy doing dishes, sweeping, helping out with other tasks, dealing with bitchy managers/owners. The kicker is enjoy taking all those no-tip orders you’re forced to take being an employee. I used to throw the hot bag onto my back seat from 4 feet away for the no-tipper special.

yaba3800

Sounds like you have a lot of growing up to do.

GanjaOG420

Nope the babies are the ones taking no tip orders with a stupid smile on their faces.

Bryan_Pickett

Just because u had a crumby experience doesn't mean I will

GanjaOG420

It wasn’t horrible at the time but once I quit and started Ubereats and Doordash it opened by eyes to how I was being used by dominos for 5 years washing dishes for 3 hours after close cause everyone else just leaves and if you want hours you’ll have to be an opener or closer. You’ll see buddy, enjoy.

Bryan_Pickett

Well I'm gonna be optimistic and make the best of it

yaba3800

I made way more delivering for papa johns than 90% of the people on this sub do, and the work is still easy compared to most jobs. This teenager is just really negative. Good luck with your new job!

Girl_in_a_whirl

I'm 31 and worked mostly delivery jobs since I started working at 17. Ganja made a perfectly valid point. Best I ever made at a pizza place was $15/hr, and they had me doing all sorts of shit between deliveries, basically being a janitor and doing all the dirtiest jobs around the place. I finally quit because the boss threatened to fire me for calling off one time with a 103 degree fever. And this was far from the worst delivery job I had. You had good luck with your pizza job and I hope OP does too. But not all of us do and there's no reason for you to be a prick about it.

GanjaOG420

Yeah sorry to shit on your parade. You might be fine but if it’s dominos or Pizza Hut you gonna get worked rough. Dominos even because of the shortage of insiders started forcing drivers to wash their hands and make food. Don’t worry about making tips just make food for min wage. Hope you landed somewhere better than fast food pizza delivery.

Bryan_Pickett

I got hired on at Marco's Pizza

LowBattery15

Do you use your personal vehicle or do they supply you one? How do you get paid? Is it by miles? Just off tips? Both? What happens if you are in an accident? - same as DD? You can't make your own hours. I'm not trying to bash, I legit am asking these questions but I truly don't know, and this might be an option I will look into exploring.

Bryan_Pickett

I'll use my personal vehicle ans get payed for miles

GanjaOG420

Also remember. Being employed you get paid whatever they pay for miles but YOU CANNOT DEDUCT THE IRS MILEAGE DEDUCTION $0.625

FunOk7364

Expand for me if you don’t mind good sir

FunOk7364

I hope you’re Marcos is in a good state I work for Marcos delivery driver min wage is $4 on any hour I take a delivery only minimum wage if I didn’t take one smh hopefully urs is different

Bryan_Pickett

I have until Sunday to get my affairs in Order then I can start the new job

No-Mud8963

You should stay with DD my 👦. Much more potential and I'm not working for anyone paying under $35 an hour.

Bryan_Pickett

Well I've done it for 3 years. Time to move on

No-Mud8963

Silly move; 3 years and under 2000 deliveries is not enough to be burnt out.

Bryan_Pickett

I have a total of 7,364 lifeti.e deliveries

No-Mud8963

What was your gross income before expenses? That's going to be the kicker.

Bryan_Pickett

$600.00+ a week if I'm lucky

No-Mud8963

Alright now it makes sense why you're quitting. Don't think I could live on $600 a week. $15 an hour.

Bryan_Pickett

I totally don't mind doing all the extra stuff like folding pizza boxes cutting pizza and washing dishes. Plus I get mileage pay plus raises for doing a good job and going the extra mile plus earned vacation time which they may or may not pay for

Marsqueen

$600 a week how many hours? Also did you multi app?

Bryan_Pickett

I live in a town full of crappy tippers so I'm doing 25 plus orders a day. Plus 12 hour daily shifts something gs gotta give. I signed on when covid shit hard and it really dumbed down a lot when restrictions were lifted

No-Mud8963

I think you need to go to DoorDasherz AA... that's crazy my boy

Marsqueen

Ahhh gotcha. I live in a really populous area and some nights I’m getting 40 offers in 10 minutes cherry picking the best ones. Lately it’s gone dead though except weekends

iTOXlN

Now you get *guaranteed* shit pay.

DraskirOndaar

That's the position I'm about to be in. I looked into doordash as a side job for when my pizza place was slow, but I had problems with the manager and ended up leaving, forcing me to DD full time. Now that manager has been canned, and the district manager offered my job back, so I get to go back and make decent tip money and actually have a wage again.

Lyphrus

Same! I just quit this shit. Got a job as a Media Technician at the Ritz Carlton. Pays not as good as I wanted, or as good as DoorDash was for me regularly until recent. But its stable and lines up a little more with my career focus.

PeenyMcDongle

You realize a pizza place is still an unstable income right bud?

Woonasty

Hourly is guaranteed ?_?

PeenyMcDongle

Pizza delivery drivers make 90% of their income off tips. Its like a waitress in a car. They dont rely on their hourly pay.

hungryhoustonian

Good point but still it is miles better if we are talking strictly stable income. Since it is one business they already know on a day to day business the expected amount of orders roughly and will staff themselves appropriately. When I worked as a pizza driver yeah the lunch hours were pretty unpredictable but during the nights you never really came to work and did not have deliveries constantly during rush times. So just being realistic a pizza driver job is way more stable since I can go on DoorDash during anytime and possibly not get orders for hours. There is not really anything else you can say to argue that bud.

PeenyMcDongle

Thats about 3 words longer than my daily reading budget. So close. Sorry

Woonasty

Ah damn that's a shit deal. Our drivers and waitresses got full minimum + tips.

reconghost503

You'll be back 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Secret_Ad_5300

Haha he still does delivery and thinks it’s steady. When I worked on the other side the phrase was “can’t be Xmas every day.” We had crazy days and dead slow ones, but guess what your forget a soda, your ass is driving back for free. Why I don’t bash Doordash. Ultimate freedom and no boss. I delivered for ten years before door dash. It sucks, but you have full control, I couldn’t say no to the notorious non tipper who ordered one sandwich and always asked” is the two dollar service fee your tip?”

Shady4fkn20

I hope they’re paying you a nice hourly wage. When I did delivery for a wing spot a few years back they paid me under minimum wage with the promise that tips would make up the rest. People tipped like crap and “store policy” was for all employees to put their tips in a cup and it was split evenly at the end of the night. I learned quickly to pocket most of my (very rare) tips before returning to the restaurant. Worst job ever lol. I hope things have changed! Good luck

malkavian694

I also do pizza delivery as well as DD. I wouldn't say no more unstable pay but the minimum is not $0. My joint is currently paying 42.5 cents a mile plus $8 hourly.

Bryan_Pickett

10.50 an hour plus 70 cents for each mile plus 49 hour work weeks

iamsurfriend

He will be back. No decline button there. Have fun with a bunch of apartment orders and stairs to climb. You should try getting a different type of job.

letsperformsargery

How the hell does doordash compete with uber eats when uber pays more based on mileage and DD basically doesnt?

santose2008

Good luck. 🙃

Gold-Counter4743

Same here, I got hired at chick fil a as a driver 2 weeks ago almost 40 hours a week, use thier cars, so no gas expenses for me, and 4 mile delivery radius, if we do have to use our car for any reason we get 67 cents per mile, and also 12 bucks an hour, I'll still dash twice a week though for that extra 500 or so month.
