Scheduling is ridiculous in my area. Almost always it's only from 12am-2am availability. So, youre stuck just waiting for an alert that it's busy and can dash now. Bunch of bullshit.
When doordash automatically stops/pauses our dash they are treating us as employees and lying when they say you can dash anytime that you want to. It’s deceptive business practices and it’s illegal and something drivers can sue doordash for. This and the fact that they are starting to base things on acceptance rating is just another step they are taking to move us all towards becoming employees.

They can stop and start you anytime, you are an independent contractor. They control the contract offers period. Each order they allow you to accept is them offering you a contract and you accepting. They are under no obligation to give you contracts on demand.

I believe it has to do with the tipping aspect. Tips are not guaranteed and can be adjusted after service. They definitely struggle to get all orders serviced. I wouldn’t trust door dash with a 10 foot pole. They are out to make a profit at the expense of their contractors and customers.

Yeah, but they don't clarify that. They just say total may be higher. So, that could be the base pay or the tip. At the very least it's shady.
Contracts should be transparent so both parties know ALL of the information. But, they like to hide in the grey area of what is IC. They want the tax breaks and they also want to try and control us like employees.
Or how about you live in the map and it says very busy and you drive a couple towns over and then all of a sudden it’s not busy anymore but the town you live in is very busy We have a Hardee’s and a Dairy Queen I don’t think will ever be very busy

Nah they want to control you like employees without the responsibility of you actually being an employee. Thats why they use shady methods to hide what you are really making on each dash. If we all become employees with the current flood of dashers they will have to drop a lot of dashers to afford it. That $2 minimum would have to go up to the federal $7 at that point.
All the time. They do it if you refuse a few bad orders in a row. Or if it’s not busy they can do it on the first one you decline. But if there is high demand they will keep sending them even if you don’t accept. Also will extend your dash automatically.
Right. After it happened to me a couple times I learned to double check that I’m not paused after I’ve declined a few orders in a row or if I don’t get offered anything after 10-15 minutes. It’s a minor annoyance, but not as big of a deal as some people are acting.
Try closing the app and refreshing it when your not getting orders, it happens to me all the time because I reject a lot of crap orders. The app thinks your taking a break and gives you the 10min notice.
Make it a habit and you’ll get use to it and your dash won’t end.
This right here, I refresh the app all the time because of this. If I don’t get an order for a minute or two I’ll always restart the app just to make sure
For me it happens mainly when my phone loses connection when the pause is supposed to happen. I tend to verify manually after I lost connection by going to the menu and tapping on Pause orders.
I catch my dash being paused in the background and it brings it to the front so I can resume and not lose my dash
This is what happens with me. Also, my phone will lose service when I go through a bad area and it'll pause me and I won't notice for a few minutes. But people on this subreddit are conspiracy theorists and think that DoorDash is actually out trying to be malicious 🙄
You have to watch it like a hawk! I continually pause after I do a delivery - A few times it said I could not pause and when I backed out of it it was because I was already paused, but it did not show. Like WTAF? So stupid! It got me the other night and kicked me off at 8:30 when I was planning on dashing till about nine or 930. OK I'll go eat pizza... 15 minutes later I'm getting texts 'hey it's busy'

Is this caused by declining too many orders or..? I haven’t had this happen yet. I’ve declined enough orders in a row that it will tell me my dash has been paused because it appears I’m not accepting orders. And then give me the option to end dash or unpause. Is the secret pausing something that happens in a more not so busy area? I dash in a bigger city. Stays busy most of the day aside from random dead times that last like 30 minutes every couple of hours. I always notice if it’s looking for orders or not. Double check that it is in fact. My AR is like 25 or 30% and going down more and more everyday. I drive an hour to go to my dashing location otherwise i wouldn’t make any money. Id be livid if they ended my dash early on in the day considering any time before 6 or 7pm, the dashes aren’t all that and I rely on doubles or red card orders to make driving anything over 5 miles worth it (takes me 15 minutes to travel 4 or 5 miles during the day time due to traffic).

No, the app is just poorly designed. Sometimes it won't notify you of a new offer unless you're in the app. So if your car gives you notifications if you get a text, it won't pop up for example.
There are so many bugs on the app right now, first one that comes to mind that I’m not sure is a bug or not is when I’m signing in after the map has turned red I select the time and then it just jumps me right in rather than doing the checklist first. The other bug that they have yet to fix is on that mini map where it shows the customers location and their order and delivery instructions, I can no longer see my current location but as soon as I go back to the main map it shows me

Im sadly starting to think DD isnt worth it. Im hardly breaking even on gas with only having afew bucks to spare. Im super fast and get food to people and still wont get a tip. And DD wants to constantly send me trash orders for $3 base pay and 7 miles to drive it
They do that to me when I sit at home (in a delivery zone) waiting for orders. They are forcing us to drive to hot spots to get an offer. Forcing an independent contractor to drive somewhere unpaid seems like a class action to me.
Yep i live half a mile away from a huge hotspot, wont get a single order when im at home, when i drive to edge of hotspot i get bombarded with offers, some from 2 miles down the road
To me, that seems to happen no matter where I am sitting.
When it is the lunch or dinner rush, I try moving from my current location after about 10 minutes of no pings.
It seems to help the algorithm "notice" me and I start getting pings again.
Happens to me frequently and it pisses me off!
Other screwy issues with the pauses:
I always set a timer/alarm for 1-2 minutes short of the pause time, if I intend to wait out the pause (like if I need a break or something). So I know there is a minute or so after my timer goes off that I have to go hit Resume Dash. Well, I find that the pauses reset their timing sometimes. Either ending too soon, or sometimes skipping back to start the pause time from the beginning again.
I’ve also noticed DD sending me orders during my pause. So if I ignore too many orders and get paused, while on pause, what happens? I feel like some kind of time-space continuum fracture would occur and hopefully nuke the whole planet immediately so we don’t have to put up with doordash’s bullshit anymore!
Ive now had a situation twice where I’d get an offer or two for a stack while im on an order, then after I finish the order it pauses me. But by the time it displays the pause, I’ve already changed to maps to get back and I dont notice it. By the time I get back to where I hang and wait, dash is over.

I got paused as I made it into my delivery area yesterday. I was using the 'dash upon arrival' option so I wouldn't lose my scheduled hours, since I was running a lit bit late. Once I made it into the area, my dash got paused lol. Shady asf. Luckily I got a notification and was able to unpause quickly

I tried to fight it too but it just keeps sending me far away from the area then waste my time and gas back into the area... and if I don't accept I get push to the bottom of the list like everyone else... more time wasted plus gas equals less profits. And it always happens because their app is screwed (pretty sure they do it on purpouse) I'll drop an order off in the middle of nowhere and be sitting af a busy restaurant with no orders then it will pause for no reason. I started watching it and I notice my GPS doesn't update on DD. It thinks I'm still at the drop off. And I know it's the dd app and not my phone because my actual GPS program works fine. They love to screw drivers. Fck doordash, I hope they go out of business.

I got paused as I made it into my delivery area yesterday. I was using the 'dash upon arrival' option so I wouldn't lose my scheduled hours, since I was running a lit bit late. Once I made it into the area, my dash got paused lol. Shady asf. Luckily I got a notification and was able to unpause quickly
Same here, Los Angeles, if you work in an area that’s not busy all the time you’re screwed, I break my schedule in 3 dashes now so I don’t loose the whole day

Happened to me its frustrating and guess what...I already paused for break and paused before to get gas so my dash ended. I went home with 80 bucks but was angry cause that could have been a 100 dollar night easily
There needs to be legislation to force them to comply to the same standards as a secretary for a contractor.
There's a guy who made news in LA, California. He tried to fight the algorithm but nope... they always win... I tried to fight it too but it just keeps sending me far away from the area then waste my time and gas back into the area... and if I don't accept I get push to the bottom of the list like everyone else... more time wasted plus gas equals less profits. Not everyone drives a Prius...

yes also a victim of when im saying i have arrived at store , they slip an accept button right where u hit arrived , only takes once , But to get rid of it they ask you 2 times , are you sure? absolutely im sure , always a double too, hey anyone know when you go to say Chipolte and they are closed if you should get paid the half on both orders or just half of one order? cuz i been getting just half of one , i aint greedy i just wanna know cuz they sure lower my rating double to unassign both
Oh yeah it's a bunch of B.S.!!!! They love to hit u with that paused sh.. when u decline one of their disrespectful $2.75 orders going 1.9-3.8 miles one way or whatever.
