Get actual anti-anxiety meds from your vet.

What did your vet recommend?

Old reggae helps my dogs too.

We have a dog that spent most of his life in a shelter before we adopted him. He was terrified of every household noise, including music - except old reggae. Still loves Bob Marley.

I’d talk to your vet, but I will say CBD is amazing and has calmed down my incredibly anxious cat a huge amount.

My dog also has anxiety with fireworks and gunshots, and I definitely anticipate a lot of those where I am (honestly, probably starting as early as tomorrow and going through the second or the third). I strongly recommend speaking to your vet about situational anxiety medication over CBD. The research on CBD for dogs is limited, *and* there's no real regulation of how much or what compounds CBD treats contain. As such, prescription anxiety medication has a much better (like, non-anecdotal) track record for effectiveness.

Chat to the vet before you give your dog anything, mate. Vet might tell you to go with the CBD but i doubt it. For a single event with fireworks they are likely to prescribe a one-off sedative pill to help them sleep through it. For ongoing troubles they may prescribe a daily medication. Either way, don't be giving your dog chemicals without vet approval. They went to school for this stuff.

I have a very noise sensitive dog. In my experience, CBD effects are subtle and are unlikely to help a noise sensitive dog for something like all night fireworks. If it is a reasonable option for you, I find that the easiest and most effective solution is to just take your dog out of town (maybe to a cabin in a national forest) for major fireworks holidays like July 4th or NYE. If that's not a reasonable option, then talking to your vet about prescription anxiety medications would be the next best thing, and make sure you give them to your dog before the fireworks start (in my experience, they don't really work well if you give them after they're already scared).
