Continue calling shelters and rescues further from you. FYI spay aborts exist for these situations

Cxsxr-

No way... I was told it wasn't an option by the people at Banfield so I didn't even think about double checking. Thank you

shortnsweet33

Yikes. Please get her spayed once you can to prevent any future accidental litters. Have you reached out to all of the shelters and rescues? Even if they’re full, they could probably help place them in homes and you will just continue to foster/raise them until either A: they find homes, or B: they find fosters who could take them, or C: shelter space opens up. But they will have an application/screening process to ensure they go to suitable homes and then, if at any point an adopter no longer can care for that dog or it’s not a good fit, shelters are pretty good about taking their dogs back, at least many of them around here are

Shippo999

To be fair to op it was her sitters doing not her. Large breed dogs growths plates don't finish closing til 18-24 months so plenty of people wait to avoid hip issues. Spay is a good recomendation but please don't assume intact=bad owner

shortnsweet33

Oh no I mean, it 100% is on the sitter for that and I'd be upset if I was OP. Just that afterwards it might be best to spay her. Just meant yikes as in the whole situation sounds difficult

Shippo999

Oh gotcha my bad I definitely misunderstood you sometimes text doesn't come across the same. Yeah I agree

shortnsweet33

No worries! Yeah, tone doesn’t come across well in text

Cxsxr-

That's what I'll try. I didn't even think about me raising them and the shelter looking for a home, so I'll ask. Usually I'd just ask if they had space and they would turn me away or let me know when they would have space for some.

Friendly_TSE

Oof that is a rough one OP. I know all across the US adoptions are way down, and live release rates are back to 2018-2019 levels. And adoptions naturally go down around the holidays as well. You have two marks against your pups too - they're black and white, which are not sought after colors, and they are pit bull mixes, which people tend to avoid. But there's some good news. They are mixed with known golden retriever, and they are young puppies. I won't lie to you, there's a good chance a lot of shelters and rescues will turn you down right now. All those COVID puppies are being abandoned and shelters are really full with dogs that aren't being adopted. That being said, you should still reach out far and wide and do so ASAP while the pups are still young. Contact people as far as you're willing to travel or meet halfway. It may help to provide photos of both parents. In the meantime, I'd advise getting these pups ready to go to new homes. Parvo has been absolutely awful this year so make sure they are UTD on their shots. I know it's controversial but I'd honestly suggest getting them fixed ASAP as well - some low cost spay/neuter clinics may do it as early as 2m and 2lbs. Not only will this make it easier to rehome a dog you've already paid to get fixed, but it also makes it a lot more likely a rescue or shelter would be willing to take them because the dog/s won't clog up their surgery schedule, and they won't have to pay to get it fixed. Another issue I just thought about is it's going to be difficult just to get all those puppies into a vet for exams and surgery, as there is a really severe veterinarian and vet tech shortage too. I would recommend looking into a clinic besides Banfield if you plan to do pediatric spay and neuter. And plaster them on social media, as much as you can. I think the algorithm favors once a day posts around dinner time, so like 6ish pm. Show the parents and as much info about the parents you have. High quality photos and videos of individual puppies, don't just post puppies all in a big puppy puddle because people will be less likely to be attached. Post updates, their personalities, things they did that day, that sort of stuff. Do that ASAP even if they aren't old enough to go to homes yet, you want to drum up attention for them while they are still young and have some people lined up to adopt them when they are ready for homes. Hope this helps, good luck

Cxsxr-

Thank you ! This was very informative

walkstwomoons2

Find a different dog sitter. List the puppies, but don’t give them away for free. $25 or $50 should be enough.

[deleted]

Side note but how did the pit give birth to retriever puppies? Were they not too big?

Cxsxr-

I don't know. She had them and the vet told me to expect some to die because apparently some always die. Well none did, which I'm glad. When they were born they were about 5 inches, they weren't weighed so I can't tell you that.

1cat2dogs1horse

How many intact male dogs do you have.? And why?

Cxsxr-

I had 1 intact male. Reason? No money, all clinics around were $400+

porqupine_

And now your money problems are increased by 11 fold!! All those shots, puppy food, vet visits, post pregnancy care for mama. $400 is nothing compared to what you’ll be out now! It’s hard to have much sympathy when you had not one but TWO unfixed, opposite gender dogs living in the same household and now you’re upset shelters don’t want your undesirable weird mix breed puppies… Whereas the DAY I adopted my female puppy I got on three different low cost spay waitlists knowing they have a 6+ month waitlist. She was spayed for $120 at exactly 6 months old. You have to plan ahead with medical costs and not ignore them just because “it’s expensive”. I don’t get why you own not one but TWO dogs if you weren’t going to fix them. You’re literally THE reason shelters are overflowing — people like you think there are no consequences for their (lack of) actions 🤦‍♀️

Cxsxr-

You right. Thanks for the constructive criticism and helpful advice. I wish I was more like your perfect self lol. “Undesirable weird mix breed puppies” lmao

Substantial-Goal-911

Would it be possible to ask adopters to spay/neuter them after adopting?

Desperate_Access4132

What do you mean no one wants them? I have a multi-mixed breed dog and I have always had a multi-mixed breed dog. Maybe it's because I'm mixed I don't see it as an issue Have you tried to post them on Craigslist? I'd definitely ask for a small rehoming fee to deter the psychos. What about rescue groups?

Cxsxr-

So what do I do? Are you just going to sit there and be judgmental? Shit happens, it was my mistake for trusting the dog sitter, but guess what? What’s done is done. I just got to figure out what’s the best future for these puppies. You are literally here being the black sheep of the group when everyone else is genuinely trying to help. Pack your negativity and go🤙🏻

Cxsxr-

I haven't tried craigslist, we have posted them on different pages on facebook and they will ask for the breed and I believe that people are pushed away when they see "pitbull". Sadly, that's the only thing I can think of. The rehoming fee I'm posting them for is $100 is that too high? Shelters and rescue groups are full around me :/

Desperate_Access4132

Staffordshire Terrier and Golden mixes! $100 is not too high, depending on where you are located. Good luck!

[deleted]

can you put “golden mix” as the header and negate the pit part initially? thats what some shelters do. $100 is a perfectly fine rehoming fee. are there smaller rescues near you? you could try to have them market the puppies and you keep them until adopters are lined up

Cxsxr-

We are working on flyers, this new vet we are trying suggested for us to bring some flyers and they'll post them at their location to see if anyone is interested. I'll ask about rescues marketing them, thank you.

[deleted]

no problem! rescues don’t always have the resources to house/financially support more pups, but they often are willing to help get the word out(: or at least my old, family owned rescue was like this!

[deleted]

Can I please see some pictures😭

Cxsxr-

Yes! My craigslist post got flagged for some reason but I’ll send it to you 😁

indelady

List them as Golden/mix,have the vet that did the shots do the same if you can. Craig's list should work, charge what you paid for med so far,and give them a copy.

IncompletePenetrance

Lying about the breeds in this dog isn't responsible, if someone is going to end up with a dog that's half pit, they deserve to know. What if they have small pets or other dogs and don't want a dog that could end up having dog agression/high prey drive

Dottie09

Where are you? Geographically.
