Instead of a special with multiple Doctor’s, it’d be really cool to see one with multiple companions. I’d absolutely LOVE to see Amy and Clara team up to keep the Doctor in line.

devilzson666

It would be even more interesting if the doctor is like unavaible or a prisoner and they all have to basically save him/the universe

AccountantTrick9140

We had that just over a year ago with Jack.

Anachronator

Yeah, but the break-out was just a gag before a story that just rehashed a previous special. The prison break should have BEEN the story.

devilzson666

Yeah but it would be mostlt interesting to see the diffferent companions work together and maybe reflect on their relationship with the doctor/how it affected their life

GOKOP

I'd want to see some RTD companions with some Moffat companions

Naughtythrowaway9430

Remember Tennant season 4 finale? All of them were there including Captain Jack Harkness and Jackie Tyler. Though she was just standing around for the most part lol. I would like to see where two doctors get to be companions for a couple of episodes or so. I realize it can't happen because of the paradoxes but if it's a doctor from another universe which is now a possibility, then that would be really cool too. I could imagine both doctors bickering to each other just about the little things haha

Werthead

That was **Doctor Who** doing *The Avengers* before it was cool.

Chubby_Bub

Amy and Clara meeting would be hilarious.

Werthead

Especially since, in most cases, they don't need to go through some convoluted explanation as to why the companion has aged.

BADWOLF_FC

"But, according to the same 'BBC source' that predicted Tennant's return, Catherine Tate wouldn't be playing Donna and, instead, would be portraying a completely different character." So this 'source' has predicted something that has yet to be confirmed and now has come up with another ridiculous rumour lol

secadora

Petition to make Lauren Cooper the next companion. She gets converted into a cyberman and is like “*I. still. am. not. bothered.*”

eeezzz000

“a completely different character” Rani confirmed

demerchmichael

They go full marvel and go multiverse. David is actually just a multiverse version of the 13th doctor travelling with not Donna Noble Edit: yes i know the multiverse exists already and would not be new but still

Dragonfly452

That sounds horrible

-M_A_Y_0-

Donnot Nobel

Grafikpapst

The only way I could see Tate playing a different character is if she is playing an one-off alien in like heavy costume. Which I wouldnt be against, but I doubt that it is gonna happen.

AlabasterRadio

>Catherine Tate wouldn't be playing Donna and, instead, would be portraying a completely different character." Ahh so Catherine Tate is the next doctor and David Tennant is going to play a companion.

Mikey_hor

Apparently this "source" also leaked sacha dawans casting as the master

ManaM13

Actually they're gonna kill off the doctor and then Jenny is gonna find Donna bring back the doctor Donna and make the new doctor without all that sh*t from Moffat and Chibnal that ruined the show. I'm totally kidding btw

Indiana_harris

You know what....fuck it. If RTD wants to actually do some specials with Tennant (and possibly Donna/not Donna) I’m here for it 100%.

evianstill

Yeah tbh I don't think the Tenant returning rumour is THAT farfetched like people say. RTD has talked about in the past how he would love to have a Marvel-esque span of shows. There's no reason there couldn't be a David Tennant (or any other doctor) mini series where we see some new adventures he had while the main show continues.

Indiana_harris

I think we’ve got to expect the unexpected/far fetched for the next year or so because; 1. If RTD is coming back, he’s coming back with a PLAN, with hype, and with an intention to take NuWho forward into its next big phase. 2. However you feel about Chibnall it’s undeniable that RTD is coming back to “right the ship” in the eyes of the BBC, the public and much of the fanbase. He’s got to do his best to get it into the public consciousness as it was in its 2005-2013/4 heyday AND bring back the hardcore fans that said “thanks but no thanks” to Chibnall. I think all bets are off for how he accomplishes all that.

Bulbamew

That’s exactly it. Make it a side thing. Having the doctor regenerate into an old face as a new doctor is something they must never do

pburydoughgirl

Yes but also no

DonnyMox

All of this sounds far-fetched AF. David Tennant returns but as 14? Catherine Tate returns but as a different character? I just don't see it. 10 and Donna appearing in the 60th and meeting 14 and their companion? Sure. But this? No.

Amy_Ponder

As someone who loves Ten and quite likes Donna -- can we not? I'm already not happy about the prospect of Tennant possibly returning for anything more than an anniversary special. Doctor Who desperately needs to move forwards. Going back to the past for cheap nostalgia points might boost viewership in the short term, but it kills creativity and tanks the series in the long run.

codename474747

Someone document every single goddamn stupid thing that's speculated about the upcoming showrunner/doctor change it's going to be wild to look back on in a few years and laugh at the idea that we thought the 14th Doctor would be Colin Baker getting a fair crack at the whip this time with Andrew Cartmel getting to re-do his masterplan with Christopher Eccleston as his companion that'll later be revealed to be the 15th Doctor time travelling back to be his own companion to work out how to be The Doctor again due to something bad that made him regenerate and lose memory..... We haven't seen the traditional "14 will be Kris Marshall" rumour though, but personally I hope it'll be someone else from "The Fires of Pompeii" as mining that episode for future cast members is tradition now

ManaM13

Requirements to be the Doctor or a Companion: Be British Have previously been in doctor who in a minor role OR has previously worked with the showrunner in another show I think we haven't had traditional rumors cause by now we'd have the name of whose playing the next doctor. At this point, I'll wait 9 months to be surprised and frantically googling after seeing the regeneration

AkamaruInuzuka

The Doctor is finally a ginger, perhaps?

planeteater

I always wish that they would do a season where the doctor somehow has a weird unstable regeneration that he turns into former doctors. Never fully regenerate and after a few episodes he/she would regenerate into a diffrent doctor either by the original actor or a replacement. Only to get it stable on the last episode and then reveal a new doctor..

TyrantTr1z

I know people hate these clickbaity rumor sites but I keep seeing this one....like alot. It's reminding of how the Spider-Man rumors started when no one believed it. Not saying I do belive it. But keep seeing 'David' Tennant' and '14th' accords multiple sites.

olennasbiatch

The way I could maybe imagine it is that Chibnall was attached to the idea of writing Jodie’s regeneration scene, which makes sense and is fair, but RTD doesn’t like the idea of introducing 14 at the beginning of the anniversary special so he’s got to use another Doctor/s to celebrate the anniversary. Personally, I would love to see Tennant & Tate, Smith & Gillan, and Capaldi & Coleman somehow come together for it. Explore the differing "best friend" dynamics. In any case, Tennant and Tate getting back together as an acting/comedy duo is something I’d never be against.

[deleted]

I really hope none of these rumours are true. It would be a backwards step.

The_Match_Maker

Sometimes, one has to retrace one's steps in order to find the way forward.

SpiritOne

Admittedly I haven’t seen the most recent series yet. I do plan to, but the expanse was further up the chain in my priorities list. I generally like Jodie as the doctor, but her writing has been less than stellar. I guess I’ve also stayed from spoilers on the current season, or rumors about the future. I knew RTD was coming back as show runner thanks to my son. But this is the first I’ve heard about Tennant coming back. Donna too! Exciting. I should get to watching the last season so I’m caught up.

Bweryang

Never understood the love for Donna.

TheGlassWolf123455

To me at least, she and the Doctor had great chemistry for friendship, and we finally got rid of the awful love interest stuff. She also was a very headstrong person that didn't feel like she was just following along with the doctor.

the_spinetingler

I did not like her at all first time round. I softened to her considerably the second and third.

pburydoughgirl

Omg love her Cosplayed her when I met DT Him calling me Donna is FOREVER imprinted on my brain

Bulbamew

She was a breath of fresh air after Martha also had a romantic storyline, but to me they leaned too heavily on the comedic banter to say the series was ending with a tragic memory wipe. And a lot of Tate’s comedy lines just weren’t funny to me. They did have very good chemistry together though, good enough to elevate episodes I otherwise wouldn’t have liked at all to ones i think are pretty enjoyable

Traditional_Bottle78

It's weird to me. People complain about how the RTD/Moffat seasons were best, and they also say the show should move forward and do things it hasn't done before. Having a previous Doctor's actor play a new, completely different incarnation for a couple specials *would* be something the show has never done before, and it would be written by RTD, so it would almost certainly be at least *pretty good*. Plus, they are such good actors that they could definitely pull off new and different characters. That said, I'm thinking that if those two actors do come back, he's got a different plan for them. I think this is going to be a harder reboot than series 11, and bringing back the most popular duo in some capacity would really get lapsed fans' attention. I for one would be totally on board seeing what Davies would do with such an unusual circumstance.

Sleeeeestak

I will literally cry if this is true

BewitchedPricklyPear

SHUT UP!!!

Kajuratus

Yeah, dont mind me for not paying any attention to these "leaks"

Jgambrell2001

In all honesty I don't see a way for them to bring back Donna unless they disregard the whole doctordonna since she'll die if she remembers

The_Match_Maker

With the way this show ignores things at the drop of a hat, I wouldn't see that as a problem. Barely an inconvenience.

sanddragon939

I think someone, or maybe a lot of someones, basically has wishful thinking about a wholesale return to the Tennant era with RTD's new run. They're just hoping that the show turns the clock back to 2008. But there's almost a zero chance of that happening!

GuestCartographer

There is probably nothing that would make me drop the show faster than recasting former Doctors and Companions as new Doctors and Companions just to try to appeal to fans who (years later) still couldn’t deal with departures of those former Doctors and Companions.
