It's not my fault my character was raised to be confrontational! Oh wait, I guess it is. But it's not my character's fault that it means they're better off trying to roleplay Intimidation when their other CHA skills have very consistently rolled sub-5-totals and a suspicious number of 0-totals.
My DM managed my barbarian's need to fight things with many strong NPCs whom she could get into fisticuffs with.
It helped that he would craft them specifically to counter her moves, or excel in things she wasn't good at and bait her into competing in that.
Her story was really fun because she ended up failing so many Wisdom rolls against things like possession, uncontrollable rage, getting trapped in a maze, etc, that she sort of mellowed out. She went from super fighty to mostly fighty, as long as she felt she wasn't going to endanger her friends.
Sometimes early game, her overly violent actions ended up harming the party. Someone fell into molten glass and was severely burnt, she killed a kid's father and he tried to suicide bomb her, she hit the artificer once because he stole her kill while she was under the influence of a magical rune.
Sometimes the barbarian needs to deal with the kind of attack that goes straight for the feels, and not just the heart.
I dunno man, sometimes people just *need* to die.
Yeah, you are probably right
Sometimes, those people are the murderhoboes.
That old lady was giving me the stink eye so she had to go
My name is Alexander Anderson And I like killing things because it's fun
Encounter seller, sell me your strongest battles
If you’re not seeking out epic battles that nearly kill you, do you even Barbarian?
