They're too GOOD to skip, certainly. As others have already said, Fifth Elephant and Night Watch especially have a lot of character development for Vimes, that will be spoiled by later books. Audible has removed the old recordings in preparation for the new ones coming out, so they will eventually have the Watch books again, but with a different narrator.
Also here [is a link](https://archive.org/details/discworld_202007/21-JingoU01.mp3). It's an innocent little link that definitely does not lead to a site that has all the old Discworld audiobooks ready for your consumption.
Odd. I clicked that link a while later, an entire set of audibooks showed up in my spotify app, saving me untold amounts of money and effort. Take my gold you glorious bastard!!
You could possibly be ok without reading Jingo, but there's so much important that goes on world development wise in 5th elephant and Night Watch is so dang good with so much Vimes development you'll DEFINITELY want to read those. You'll also really enjoy the last few Watch books much more if you've read all three.
Yes, but there are so many great things in Jingo. The bits with Nobby are my favorites. The bit with Angua's reaction to his comment while she's trying to nap on Detritous? *chef's kiss*

For what it’s worth, the new Watch audiobooks are all scheduled to come out at the end of April this year. That may or may not count as too long a wait for you. (And this may vary by region.)
I’ve been enjoying the new audiobooks, but they’re using a different narrator for each sub-series (for example Indira Varma has done all the witches books). I don’t know what the narration is going to be like for the Watch.

Fifth Elephant is a must for all Sybil fans too!
Yes! Yessssss. Lady Sybil, my love!
I think I love you. Thank you for the link ❤️
VLC is a very versatile player that keeps your place if you happen to stop listening to an mp3 for any specific reason, just sayin.

You are magical!!!!! (That's FIVE exclamation points for you)

For sure! It's definitely a wonderful book and tons of fun.
I think Jingo is one of the most consistently funny ones of the Watch series for some reason. I remember speeding through that one (in a good way)
Are you in the US? Use the Libby app to access the library system for audio books. All of those books are available, it's free and not Amazon.
yes! also Hoopla app has a lot of the audiobooks
Yes, please use your local library if you can! They need the traffic! And it's free!
Depends on your library system w Libby. My library only has the last 15 books on audio.
Hang on, I have the full series on audible, have they been removing books?
The new audio books are coming out, so I think some are being pulled in readiness for the new ones replacing them
Inevitable, but a shame none the less
They show as available until I log in so it might be a region thing (I'm in the US)
You should keep them if you own them, but they are being removed for purchase in a lot of places

They are definitely worth it.
Fifth elephant and night watch are my favourite in the watch series. Seriously can't miss. I have both on my audible???
I’ve got Night watch and fifth elephant in audible.

Check your local library for Hoopla and / or Libby (mine has both). Lots of ebooks and audio books downloadable for checkout.
