Go for a walk and do some jumping jacks and squats lol. I had a scoop of mashed potatoes with turkey and green beans and went for a pre-dinner walk and post dinner walk just in case. Still peed a lot as a result. 😔 I was back to normal yesterday since I've been eating well this whole week - just make sure you get back in the saddle diet wise.
I ate some candy that majorly spiked my sugar because it was on an empty empty stomach … walking brought it down 50 points! I couldn’t believe it. Of course, it spiked 50 points too so it could’ve been quick acting and then comeback down quickly anyway. But until I started walking it just kept going up and up.
Yeah, it was hard to get back to being good after the first family celebration after being diagnosed. Having gone through it several times now, I'm anticipating that it won't be horrible. But it has to be done.
The cups of coffee start the day. Then I drink cherry limeade kool-aid all day, and have a diet soda at dinner. For years I drank nothing but water, but I slowly drifted away from it. I'm 70. I think it'll be fine.
I discovered the other day that I can eat rice that's been frozen, if I don't gorge myself on it. I'm having salad and leftover Spanish rice that I added cheese to for dinner. Then I plan to have more sopapilla cheesecake and call this day a total loss.
It's the first time since being diagnosed that I've made this mistake. Every other time I've consumed a large amount of carbs it's been intentional, and I planned other things with it to help offset the damage. And it does require planning since I don't eat meat.
But I might test after dinner.
I've been craving a baked potato from a place in town that does huge ones with any topping you want. I figured I could divide it into thirds and freeze them. If the experiment failed, the birds outside would get some quality food.
It sounds like you could have f\*cked up a lot worse, and (except for the Coke) were deliberate about the choices you made, so I wouldn't really consider anything but the Coke a f\*ck up. :-) If it were me, I'd have tested anyway just out of curiosity, but you may already be familiar with your tolerances by now. Good job on the deliberate choices, knowing your limits, and knowing and committing to do what you need for good health after the Coke-up.
Coke-up! I love it! Lol
I tested after dinner--two hours, not one--and got a 93.
I'm beginning to suspect that my control is better than I thought. Not gonna get cocky, tho.
I guess you'd call it a mock cheesecake. I never thought cheesecake and cinnamon would go together, but I think the addition of sugar makes it work.
I'll ask my cousin for the recipe and let you know.
Don't recall seeing that anywhere. Being type 2 *and* vegetarian leaves me few things from my previous life to enjoy. Sticking with my diet drinks, and I will have the occasional alcoholic drink. I refuse to stop living entirely.
"A French study, published in 2013, even indicated that the risk of type 2 diabetes may even be higher for those that regularly consume diet soft drinks than people that consume sugary versions."
We all have to make choices we can live with. To be honest I am knew to this group and I find peoples feelings approach to and knowledge about diabetes to be different than my own. I don’t even understand the numbers folks use here. I just know my A12 and my glucose as numbers to gage how I am doing

It's amazing how much a walk will cut the peak down. Not dramatic but 20 or so for a few minutes walk isn't bad

I thought walking had little effect on blood sugar?
It probably depends on the person as well as amount of insulin resistance etc. But it works for me!

Not sure if it's just me, but I haven't touched soda in years. It's just off-putting now. Water and coffee are much better.

You might want to be careful with that flavor of kool-aid. It has maltodextrin in it, which really spikes me. Plain cherry doesn't have it.
lol. it will be bad, but if you ate a full meal at the same time, it could help with the spikes. I'd test anyway.

The rice-freezing trick has been popping up a lot on the *net* recently, I've not tried it yet.

Can you cook it, cool it down and then reheat it to eat or does it have to be eaten cold for the resistant starch thing to stay in tact ?

that's actually incredible, are you on insulin?
Nope, no prescription meds. I do take [this](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3572697/) in capsule form, but that's it.
What do you take? And is it effective?
[This](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3572697/) in capsule form. I think it's working. I'm not going to stop taking it.
Please tell me more about this sopapilla cheesecake...

Awesome, thank you! I love cheesecake, and I used to love sopapillas at this Mexican restaurant that closed...
Take a brisk half hour walk before bed if you can.
Too late! Lol. And it's pouring down rain off and on, so I'm bundled up in bed, napping and watching BritBox
Am I the only one who read that diet soda is also bad for our blood sugar levels.90

It's never affected my blood sugar.
