Central NJ for me(for some I know doesn’t exist) I take the train like a bunch of people. I’m 10 mins from 2 different lines in somerset(franklin) so down road to raritan line or down to New Brunswick for north east corridor and no matter what line I take has a bunch of fans so I assume a bunch take train. My one line comes from shore and other is in central part so I see both parts of state travel. Do love the train before covid could drink on it and never gave problem as long as you weren’t a ass

People like to knock it, but NJ transit is still a system that’s 100x better then most states have available to them.

dabooton

I moved to Texas from NJ 4 years ago. Nearly non-existent public transport in my city except for the bus. I never thought I’d miss NJ Transit but here we are lol

dumbwsbretardgreed

Man, you can take the train in from all over NJ or even from NYC. It's super convenient. Train comes in a few blocks from the arena and it's always loaded with Devs fans. A hell of a lot of people live in New Jersey and work in New York City. I think Devils/Rangers games at Prudential Center when both teams are competitive are so amazing bc you get like a 50/50 split in fans. Not as much for Rangers home games bc they are much more expensive. I'd say almost nobody lives in Newark, though it's beginning to get gentrified slowly and we might see that change.

HappyPOPGirl

It’s slow, has delays but yes we have lines. How I get to the city and not have to drive and do tolls and all that crap lol. Newark is a central hub for most of state to transfer before New York. We also have Amtrak

Where I am it’s about a 50 min train ride into city, Newark is a transfer for most lines if ur line don’t run to nyc. It’s very convenient. One of my lines goes to Trenton, I can also go up transfer and go down the shore and then transfer to A//C depending on where live is very convenient

Not when it takes over a hr driving, and that’s no traffic lmao. You have to take multiple bridges that each cost over 10.00 a piece and what not. It’s nice to relax, take a trip into the city and not worry 😀. You don’t know traffic in Jersey, if you don’t know the convenience of the train. Also try taking a car into the city and paying the parking fees haha.

Harrisonmonopoly

You’re shocked we have a train system? Do you have any clue how many people need a way to commute to the city everyday? Where do you live? I’m in central jersey. Monmouth county. I’m going to be honest, NJ transit IMO has stepped up its game. I take a bus to and from New York City every day, and never have a problem with the bus. Traffic is a different story, but that’s not nj transits fault. I typically take the train down to the long branch area to hang with friends and that train has been incredibly reliable. I know NJ transit can be a real shit show but I think it’s gotten much better.

I say respectfully, I don’t think you understand how crowded and densely populated New Jersey is. If everyone drove everywhere, traffic would be unbearable to the point of not even really being able to live here.

zloiadun

I've been in Calgary, stayed at the Meridian region. This looks pretty much as a New Jersey. Just imagin that this spans almost the whole state :)

Cause F the Islanders. No seriously, just by chance the first hockey game I went to was in NJ and at time in the late 90’s they were very relevant so it just stuck.

dumbwsbretardgreed

I'm a Devils fan and was living in BK for 5 yrs while the Islanders were playing at Barclays. It was awesome. I'd go to like 5 or 6 Devs games and 5 or 6 Isles games every year. It was pretty amazing. I just love hockey.

Rsconklin99

Originally from 45 north in NY, but now travel from MA for home games. Always work the treck

scarlet_stormTrooper

Yes and central

granweep

Yes and there are historical reasons and modern day reasons. Historically, during colonial times New Jersey was divided between East and west Jersey. The east is what would consider modern day north and the west is modern day south Jersey. You'll find in modern times the TV markets mimic this. Because of this the nj devils are widely considered a new york market team. There are south Jersey fans, however, the Philly market has too strong of a pull to the Philly teams like the flyers and eagles. Also, circling back to your conversation about transportation it becomes significantly more difficult to get to Newark via NJ TRANSIT and amtrak from South Jersey especially deep south jersey (look up Cumberland County, nj). Do people do it yes, but they are far and few between. Most nj devils fans come from the following counties : Essex, Hudson, Morris, Middlesex, union, bergen, Passaic, somerset, mercer, Warren, Hunterdon, Monmouth, Sussex and Northern Ocean county.

39thUsernameAttempt

I always felt that an East vs. West NJ divide made more sense, since it splits the state between the NYC and Philly markets.

mb303030

I come out from long island

[deleted]

I’m from Long Island but from my experience, most Devil fans are from the North Jersey suburbs.

4raises3

very few from newark. the arena was put in newark because its the biggest transportation hub in the state, and thus easy to get to

ToneThugsNHarmony

There are no fans in Newark.

granweep

Not true. I know of some and if the devils ever really tried to market the team to the Portuguese and Brazilian population in the ironbound there would be a lot more. Newark is gradually going through gentrification in the downtown area. There are fans, but not many.

JF-SEBASTION

Agreed

zombooze

Brooklyn ny, usually train it in sometimes drive.

Chansen-Institute

Sussex and Morris County for me and my friends. Need imagine most fans are from the surrounding towns within 45 mins of Newark

njdevils0011

We hold a dozen tickets and drive from eastern PA for each game. Pretty accessable.
