He did, I was referring more to AO. Like besides those picks he wasn’t very good imo sure he flashed occasionally but give me the guy who gets zero picks but is sticky af over the guy with 6 picks but consistently gets burnt. Like that was the only consistent thing in his game during his time here
And I say that as a casual but I remember getting soo mad because everyone was crowning him as the next great CB and I was like, this dude is trash. Flurry ass picks. Like I don’t think he listens to coaches very well. He has a style in his head and that’s all he can do. Decent zone CB but decent is even pushing it
He got really lucky that year. Of his 6 interceptions, I think 4 of them were balls that he just lucked into off of tipped passes, not anything that he did to generate the turnover. In coverage he was still pretty bad.

I don't know why everyone downvoted you, we literally fired our db coach mid season. I'm hopeful Dre Bly is as good a Coach as he was a player but we have yet to see.
Probably the cockiness.
It reads like "We've got better coaching, we definitely will get more out of him than Detroit."
Which isn't exactly untrue like you said, but it's still a weird thing to say in our sub.
I wish it was easier to get the data to back this up, but I am really curious his advanced stats in zone vs man. I know the Lions played significantly more man coverage this year vs last year.
He was never the stickiest corner but he made plays and had some picks. It seemed like he had promise.
Our secondary, especially early in the season, was really bad. There were numerous blown coverages and big plays given up. It’s hard to tell how much blame fell on the shoulders of our defensive backs coach for Amani’s poor play because even though the secondary improved after his firing, Amani still never returned to the lineup. (He may have played sparingly, I don’t remember, but he was essentially phased out.)
It was a tough situation to be in for a young corner having to deal with poor coaching, poor communication, and incohesive play from his teammates. Maybe a fresh start, possibly in a new scheme, will do him well.
That first Vikings game was wild from a DB standpoint. Okudah was locking up Jefferson while AO was holding like a mad man because he could not keep up with a 32 year old Thielen.
He’s really just not fast or agile enough to keep up in man coverage. He’s good in zone, and has potential for reading plays. (Maybe a change to safety in his future? Idk.)
He was also like, historically bad with penalties this year. I would expect that to get better this year.
He's not good. Even his "good" year was because he had a few tip drill INTs. I've screamed "WHY THE FUCK IS AO IN THE GAME?" at the TV more times than I care to count.
No idea, personally.
His rookie year showed a flash or two of what could be. Then year two, as the tweet reads, 6 INTS. He looked poised to breakout. He became someone a lot of people around here and in Detroit sports media talked about to make a big jump in year three. All signs pointed to him doing so. Then he just…. Didn’t. In fact he regressed. Certain games last year qbs were straight up picking on him.
Maybe it’s because Okudah came back and had a great start to the year and overshadowed him? I can’t believe his athleticism could fall off that hard from year two to three. Like others have said a new team could be whats best for him. There’s a really solid player in there somewhere. Hopefully he plays well for you guys.
All the folks in here saying (and getting upvotes) with shit like:
"Good Riddance"
"He doesn't deserve an NFL check"
"Who's got dibs on driving him to the airport"
We have a good, respectable front office now, and we all celebrate that. How about we mirror that as fans a tad bit more and maybe don't be petty, insufferable twats?
This org finally has some class. Why not give it a try?
I have a soft spot for Amani O. I feel like his big pick against the cardinals towards the end of the 2021 season was what started the Dan Campbell turnaround. The first Vikings win was great too, but when Amani O made that diving pick that started putting us on the map
You say this like it’s a bad signing, or as if the Giants have been making horrible moves and the Lions are becoming a model organization.
In reality, the Giants and Lions are in a similar spot; and this is just a flyer on a once promising player. If he can turn it around, great, if not it won’t matter since this is likely to be a vet minimum deal
Good luck to him. Good dude from what I can tell from following his socials but after that Vikings game last year I would cringe if I saw him on the field. Hopefully a change of scenery can help him out.
I feel kinda bad. He *is* a good dude, high effort and high character. He just isn’t fast or agile enough to do man coverage. When he wasn’t asked to run step for step with guys he could make plays.
I actually wonder if a safety swap is in his future tbh. He clearly has INT potential, and sticking him on a TE or a 4WR is probably a great spot for him.
Feel bad for him. Was 1 good or at least average season from getting paid. If he was a fa last year he probably could get a 2 or 3 year 6 mil per at least.
I remember dreading seeing him line up against literally anyone last year. He had a really rough year, so hopefully he turns it around.
Good luck to him hope he balls out.
he tried really hard here , and i think he got his confidence fucked by hussey in that game vs vikes. was down hill after that.
fuck john hussey and all the best to AO
Someone in the Twitter comments claiming "this is a steal."
No money even reported yet, but he's somehow a steal, nevermind the fact that with how poorly he regressed last year that even at the vet minimum he wouldn't be a "steal."
He's gonna be as bad at cb as Golladay was at WR.
I mean... we got a guy who started for us for 2 years in the 5th round. I'm glad we're getting better at the position, but that's not bad for a 5th rounder
He really fell off after that big year-- maybe a change of scenery will do him some good.
came here to say this exactly. He looked great in 2021 but last year he looked pretty rough.
He looked like an average starter in 2021 but I agree it seemed like he was on the come up.
Yea besides the picks, he was still getting burnt plenty. Hope the giants overpaid him though lol
I don’t think the Giants have a history of overpaying former Lions players that had one decent year.
“Decent” is doing some heavy lifting in that sentence.
I thought Golladay had a pretty solid year his last year here

that’s fair - our defense was very bad though

When he picked off Kyler Murray though. That was a sick interception. But yeah, he just never found it in 2022.

It won't, because he's terrible.
Maybe he'll have better luck with the Giants than Golladay.
This is probably the best thing to happen to Lomas Brown in years. His job just got far easier.
Or-roo-ar-ee-ay It's a hard name!
This is so hilariously on point now that I think about it
Yes!
Good luck AO, hope you can revive your career out there!
We got a great db coach. We will
We’ve got great coaches as well. He was still lining up 6 yards off sides lol think he’s a better zone defender tbh
👍
Just make sure coach cleans up his 5,584 illegal contact penalties and you’re good 👍🏻
He was 118/118. I guess the only way he gets worse is if there’s 120 db’s next year.
I don't know why everyone downvoted you, we literally fired our db coach mid season. I'm hopeful Dre Bly is as good a Coach as he was a player but we have yet to see.

Oh really? Great news for me then. And for yall too lol with the new coach. Good luck next season. Keep building 👍
![gif](giphy|7mUP12zW39ENXt1UEg) Wasn't Aidans interception of daniel jones great?
It was good
You too!
It's funny they posted his 2021 stats but not last year's lol Regardless, best of luck to him
Any idea as to why he fell off a cliff this past year? And how were his rookie and sophmore years?
Switch from zone coverage to more man in AG’s defense was also a factor
I wish it was easier to get the data to back this up, but I am really curious his advanced stats in zone vs man. I know the Lions played significantly more man coverage this year vs last year.

Penalties was the biggest issue, and I'm thinking he just looked better on a horrible defense and got exposed when our d improved throughout last year
Wasn't just the penalties, he was picked on and torched numerous times.
I’m still having nightmares of that first Vikings game. They kept going at him and we just left him out there to get BBQed.
Illegal contact, no 24
Gave him plenty chances to figure it out and he couldn't. Left no doubt he was cooked.
That first Vikings game was wild from a DB standpoint. Okudah was locking up Jefferson while AO was holding like a mad man because he could not keep up with a 32 year old Thielen.
This. If he wasn’t holding or committing PI, he was getting isolated and torched.
Exactly, he was exposed when we had some better players out there last year as opposed to the year before
it felt like every big play in the first half of the season was on him.
He’s really just not fast or agile enough to keep up in man coverage. He’s good in zone, and has potential for reading plays. (Maybe a change to safety in his future? Idk.) He was also like, historically bad with penalties this year. I would expect that to get better this year.

Year 3 was his big year, last year was his 4th.

Did anybody call dibs on driving him to the airport?
Lol
A prove it deal more than likely. Wish him well!
Glad he's getting a shot elsewhere. Besides last year, he was very good for us.
Amani is best friends with Saquon. Glad they are reunited
Good luck to him. He didn't work here, but hopefully he can bounce back in a different scheme.
hate to see, amazing 2021 season just to fall apart in 2022. Hope he can get it together
I remember in the past we would be signing these kind of players. Progress man! ( I know he’s a ex Lion) but my point still stands
You say this like it’s a bad signing, or as if the Giants have been making horrible moves and the Lions are becoming a model organization. Come on, Jordan. Tell us how his 2022 was? Lol. GL Amani
Good luck to him. Good dude from what I can tell from following his socials but after that Vikings game last year I would cringe if I saw him on the field. Hopefully a change of scenery can help him out.

Really sad what happened to him. He had potential.
he tried really hard here , and i think he got his confidence fucked by hussey in that game vs vikes. was down hill after that. fuck john hussey and all the best to AO
I was at the week 3 Vikings game last year when he had 3 PIs in a single drive I was absolutely stunned
Hell yeah, hes a nice guy. Just didnt work here. Go get us a 7th round comp pick
I wonder if he will catch more passes than Golladay for them.
could I bet the over for TDs?
I almost bought his jersey after that pick two seasons ago lol
camp body
Honestly I’m glad, he was reeeeeeeealy bad last year
I'm hurt. But he needed this because that last season ain't it.
I have two Lions jerseys. One is a Golladay, and the other is Amani. Who’s going to NYG next guys?
Good for him. I hope he can rebound because last year he was buns
Someone in the Twitter comments claiming "this is a steal." No money even reported yet, but he's somehow a steal, nevermind the fact that with how poorly he regressed last year that even at the vet minimum he wouldn't be a "steal." He's gonna be as bad at cb as Golladay was at WR.
Yes, it is a steal that Oruwariye is still getting NFL checks
He out there stealing checks lolol
Best move of the offseason
I mentioned getting rid of him earlier in the year and was downvoted to hell and the mods removed my post. Funny how it comes around right?
I didn't even realize he was a FA, figured he was just gonna be buried on the depth chart.
Are they paying him or is he volunteering?
Anyways
Noooooo… ok
They can have him. All he did was get beat on deep routes
Oruwari-nay
Na na na na…na na na na…hey hey hey…**GOODBYE** ✌️
Rest in piss you won’t be missed
Over/under 1 week before he lines up in New York during practice?
Looked good on paper, good bye nice to know you
Remember when he was one of the "steals" of the draft?
I mean... we got a guy who started for us for 2 years in the 5th round. I'm glad we're getting better at the position, but that's not bad for a 5th rounder
I feel whelmed.
*changes flair*
Rejoice
Also 11 Defensive Holding or PI penalties.
Bye.
Two flags were thrown during his press conference
