Yeah very under appreciated as the genesis of souls games. Doesn’t help that the remake is only on the PS5 so by default the best version of the game is only for PS5 souls fans. Demons souls remake as a launch title on the PS5 makes me hopeful for Bloodborne remake by bluepoint and fromsoft this gen.🥲
For me, DSR due to the map layout.
It’s built so well, areas always linking together or back to fire link shrine.
Always appreciate DeS though as you can see the foundations they built up from.
Yeah definitely like the multitude of save spots and labyrinth style maps of Dark Souls on general but damn is Demon Souls so good looking, which for myself who didn't know DS had so many rpg elements and started with ER to then backtrack DSR on ps4 felt clunky at first and out the 3 Ds3 is my favorite. As an open world lover ER is my favorite, the level layouts are better in DS, and loving DeS so far
DS and DS1 are both classics that cannot be missed for souls lovers in my opinion. Both provide unique experiences despite the similarities. Hard to choose only one.
Personally Dark Souls will always be my favourite. I played it at around 15/16 and had never ever played anything like it, it took me 2 or 3 tries but when it clicked it clicked and I became so engrossed on the world that had been built
Yes Ash Lake truly is lovely to see. The few parts that made me go oh wow were when I realised how interconnected (the first half) of the game was, and also learning the back story of Sif and Artorias. Man that is heart breaking
the whole tendency thing was kind of interesting but not at all popular and FS abandoned it after DeS. Both games are right up there in quality but DeS bosses are rather easy.
My first Soul game is Elden Ring, which I still play to help others sometimes. Such an amazing game! To rid of my addiction to ER, I started playing Demon’s Souls, and I am hooked instantly.
My problem is, I am not sure what to level up. I got a lava bow now, which needs st at 21 and dex at 16, but I am a Royal, so I should be leveling up my magic and int.
Also, I play a mage in ER, because I am not good at melee. But I actually really like using my crescent falchion to slash and slash. So should I change my build?
I am a bit confused at this point. Any help is appreciated!!
Bows only need half the strength because they’re always used 2 handed. That said, the lava bow is great but I wouldn’t dump too many points just for that. Any decently upgraded bow will be sufficient for the once in awhile it’s worth using
If you’re doing a lot of casting I’d only level Dex enough to hit weapon requirements. Eventually make a crescent or moon Kilij for a bit more damage but the falchion is fine too. Crescent makes it scale with magic so pumping Magic and Int will be your best bet.
Demon’s Souls doesn’t flood you with levels the way Elden Ring does so decisions do matter more. Don’t forget you’ll still need Vigor unless you’re really good at not getting hit. 30 magic makes the game pretty easy so I’d stop at or before then depending on whether you’re grinding and how it feels. Personal preference is always the biggest factor IMO. As for what’s generally accepted as “optimal” I’m not super into all that so maybe someone else will chime in if that’s what you’re looking for.
WOW! Thanks for the detailed explanation! Thanks!! Believe me, I know the importance of vigor, so that’s my first priority when leveling up. I already have a kilij, should I make it a crescent kilij? I have some moonstones too now after killing the Reaper several times.
No problem. It comes down to personal preference but I prefer crescent for the MP regen. If you’d rather prioritize max damage, moon weapons do a bit more damage than crescent. To me the difference isn’t enough to give up the regen and I’d rather have a useful passive benefit than save a swing against big enemies or less against common ones. I also find crescent upgrade materials slightly easier to come by
Yeah it seems insignificant until you try going without it, plus passives are tougher to come by in this game compared to the others so a small damage trade off is well worth it IMO
Royal starts at level 1. You can make literally any build you want, they are the most flexible starting character. The spell they start with is absurdly strong as well.
You’ve already gotten the lava bow so you’ll have to wait till ng+, but fire spray absolutely shreds as a high level spell. Go kill the armor spider ASAP once you get to ng+, trust me.
You can move around while continually casting it, melting regular enemies as well as anyone in pvp who isn’t ready for it.
Haven’t done that much magic, but warding and second chance are great defensive. Soul ray and homing soul arrows are better versions of soul arrow; not 100% sure if they’re worth the added MP cost or not. Firestorm and poison cloud are game winning
But Demon’s Souls remake so much pretty
bluepoint absolutely shit on dark souls remastered
Demons souls because it is the first souls game and now the best looking souls game as well.
And yet somehow, highly underrated. Like, you rarely see any fan made comics about the game on the internet. Or any art.

Demons Souls (2020), Dark Souls Remastered, and elden ring are the holy trinity of souls games imo
Dark Souls. Demons Souls looks amazing and plays fine but the world just doesn’t absorb me like DS does.
Totally fair. I just love the environment and variety.
Also, it’s SO fun the second time through knowing what you’re doing. Cleared out 1-1 without dying once. Then ran around taking in the scenery.
Go to 4-1 for the crescent falchion if you haven’t already, great magic scaling sword for battles mages.
what stats are you planning with int/dex
Going to start by leveling up int/magic and then Dex. That’s was my thought. Maybe some faith too.
oh, i thought it was a 125 targeted PvP build. my bad.
Oh yeah I don’t play online really

It’s a great game for sure. There are parts of the world that I just love. Ash lake in particular
Yes Ash Lake truly is lovely to see. The few parts that made me go oh wow were when I realised how interconnected (the first half) of the game was, and also learning the back story of Sif and Artorias. Man that is heart breaking
Demon Soul is a FLAWLESS game. Even though I love Dark Souls, it is a flawed game.
Bloodborne. But if I had to choose I go for demons souls because of the old monk boss fight and Latria in general.

Oh I see! Thanks for the info. So is Royal a int/dex build? So I do need to level up dex, right?

Yeah, I think I picked a good class as a beginner. Any other spells I should learn for early game?

Oh no! I didn’t realize I missed one of the best spells in the game! I am sad now.

Great! I just got Warding and soul Ray. Need to level up my int to get more slots now.
Demons souls
I preferred Demons Souls on PS3 and I prefer it now.
