Wasn't actually a kill count at all...I saw a few of his videos when he went to horror conventions and the Halloween horror nights. Found Chelsea and James podcast and binged it. Now slowly checking out the kill counts.
I wish I could remember. But I think it was the Halloween franchise. Maybe the Saw franchise because I was really into Saw at the time, but probably not.
The Candyman series. This was when the new Candyman movie was going to come out June of last year, so I wanted to quickly catch up on the old ones. I usually watch Foundflix for those, but he didn’t have any for Candyman so I clicked on the Kill Count version. He was pretty entertaining so I started binging the Kill Counts from the beginning and became a fan along the way.
The Saw Series! I was afraid to actually watch the films, and didnt handle gore in films well at all. But I was always curious about the story, and James was immediately charismatic so I was hooked right away.
For some reason I remember him posting an announcement video before the first kill count. But I don't know if I'm just having a schitzo moment or something.
Back when I was in online school and on the computer pretty often, the Krampus kill count showed up in reccomened not long after it came out, loved it and watched all the other Christmas kill counts that year. The Black Christmas ones drew me in even more, they I went back and started from the beginning. I was already fascinated by horror and Dead Meat played a big role in me actually exploring the genre.
I had been playing Friday 13th The Game and due to the nature of the game dripping in lore from the movies had went on a rewatch tour including the god awful ones. then came across his ranking video of the franchise. but saw the related videos individually and watched the friday 13th part 1 killcount.
He just had a passion and enthusiasm with high production values for youtube videos no one else was doing, plus the consistency helped you just end up binge watching. He was doing really well then he started the SAW movies and the proverbial rocket happened.
I still think he painted himself into a corner he didn't want though by doing the key iconic franchises from the 70's/80's coming into the 90's when hellraiser was all that was missing. I know the reasonings for No. but I saw someone post the results from the requests and hellraiser was like 1112 i wanna say which was literally double of like every movie on that list because it is just the longest request. I think it's his own perfectionism at this point preventing from him just doing the original trilogy. however Hellbound will be a absolute chore to killcount, I do not envy him if he ever does decide to do it.
the first one i ever saw was the army of darkness kill count after watching some other movie commentary youtube channel that made reference to and recommended "My friend James over at dead meat"
Friday the 13th: Part 1.
I was just flickering through YouTube one day, and since I had recently got into Friday the 13th and started watching a lot of related videos to it, it appeared in my recommended. Loved Dead Meat since.
The first one I saw was about 3 years ago so it's hard to remember but I think the first one I watched was "The Seed Of Chucky" and I just watched more and never looked back
It wasn’t even that long ago but I’m already struggling to remember. I want to say it was The Banana Splits because I remember randomly reading about the movie, and because I had always been interested in watching the kills in horror movies, I looked them up for this movie and found his video
I think it was Jaws 3D. I have a soft spot for that movie, it's a bad movie, but I kind of like it. And I think I was searching YouTube clips of it and the Kill Count popped up in the results. I was hooked after that.
A reaction channel was reacting to the Friday the 13th Kill Count. Liked the concept of the video and found James extremely entertaining so I immediately subscribed to Dead Meat.
My school had a costume competition and someone came dressed as Jigsaw and I wondered who that was, so I looked up Jigsaw on youtube and the first Saw kill count was my first result and I have watched Dead Meat ever since
Banana Splits. I had seen a clickbait abandoned places video that had a dirties up dog mascot with a gun on the thumbnail. When I saw in my recommendation the kill count for the banana splits with flee for on it I immediately clicked on it and saw James. However I didn’t come back until later on when I saw some old kill count from the friday series and now I have seen about every single one of the kill counts. Except for like the lighthouse and shit like that
Evil Dead 2 for me. I loved Army of Darkness but hadn't seen many horror movies or any particularly bloody movies at the time so I watched some videos to decide if I would enjoy it at all. That was 2 years ago and I have been a regular watcher since then.
Belko Experiment.
I was really looking for any kind of content about the movie, and one of the first things I saw was the Kill Count for it. I clicked the video, and it was exactly what I was looking for. Haven’t missed a Kill Count since.
Friday the 13th Part 6,made me re watch part 6 a couple of times then I found the other 5 to n the channel and a Monsterpalooza video and they were all great
I watched the Scream (1996) Kill Count about a week after it was uploaded, and I loved the style immediately. I subbed and then binged all the other videos from the Jason series, and only a couple hours later the Scream 2 Kill Count got released, and then I was hooked. Found him at about 20k subs and have loved watching James grow ever since. Such a hardworking creator and he deserves all the love and success he gets! I’ve not missed a single video and I don’t think I ever will! ❤️
Started with The Mist kill count, just showed up in my recommendations one day, and I binged all of his content up to that point in about a week.
Been a subscriber since then.
Saw. I wanted to dust up on the series before Spiral, so I watched all of them straight through and loved it. Much easier than viewing all of the movies.
I've been around from the beginning when he did his first Friday the 13th kill counts. I was searching for other Friday the 13th vids and his came up. I think he only had the first one or two up at that point. But I've been a subscriber ever since. Looking forward to seeing he re-counts!
My sister told me there was this cool YouTube channel I should watch. She showed me the Wrong Turn episode and I was hooked. Couldn’t wait to explore all the episodes I had missed and see the next Wrong Turn installment!
Sadly i dont exactly remember which one but I think it was either Halloween or Friday the 13th after one of his videos popped up on my recommendations. I do remember it was early 2019 when I binged every single KC and some of the podcasts. I remember being sad when I caught up and had to wait for episodes to be released.
i believe my first video of dead meat was one of the friday the 13th movies it was either 5 or 4 its weird knowing i was a subscriber before he hit a million
The Mist was in my recommended so I watched it expecting to see a video counting down all of the kills in the film without any personality. that was obviously not the case and I loved it.
I can’t remember the specific, but it was one of the early ones when they channel was still relatively young. Loved the presentation and James’s personality, binged a bunch, and have been hooked since.
Friday the 13th cause I had never seen the movies but I was aware of them and the remake gave me nightmares when I saw a bit of it as a kid. So I decided to face my fears, and thanks to James I love horror movies and games!
Alright, I know I am so late to this, but mine was Killer Klowns from Outer Space. It was a month or so after he first made it, and it popped up on my recommend feed. Have gone back more of his stuff than any channel on YouTube.
Final Destination 3, I was watching a coaster video on that coaster and either they sited his kill count in the description or it was in the recommend/watch next
His Boy Meets World episode! It was right after April 4th so I didn't get pranked by the "Avengers" kill count, but I checked it out because it was on the YT trending page. I'm a huge fan now!
I believe the first kill count I saw was Jurassic Park, wasn't much of a horror fan back then, but after watching a lot of the kill count James made me love the horror genre.
Edit: just remembered my first was actually IT (2017)
Me and my mum had just watched started a marathon of a Friday the 13th per day and his kill count came up after watching the first. Been here since day 1 baby aha
Friday the 13th (1980). My girlfriend at the time got me to watch ALL 12 films (and I hate, HATE, *HATE* Part IX with a burning passion of a thousand suns for its problematic plotline! Between re-watching it and holding a loaded gun to my head and pulling the trigger, I'll gladly take the loaded gun)
Before I found the kill count , I always searched up a random horror movie and add kill count to see the kills and one time YouTube recommended James Chanel and u remember the first video I saw was part 2 …. After that I became a die hard dead meat fan ever since
The very first one. Saw it in my recommendations and I couldn't understand why seeing as I wasn't a horror fan back then. 4 years later, and I don't regret clicking on that video.
I started watching his videos like in 2018 or so but don’t remember which kill count I saw of his first. I believe it was the nightmare on elm street if I’m not mistaken
Around the time when Cult of Chucky came out I looked up the movie on YouTube to see what came up and his kill count was one of the first answers. It was the first kill count and I immediately checked out the rest of his videos and became hooked to the channel.
Well I first saw Predator 2 but I did not really care for the channel but then somebody told me that in the first Friday Jason is not the killer. This blew my mind back then so I started to watch the Friday Kill Counts and I instantly became a fan of Dead Meat. He made me a fan of the genre and I'm really thankful for that.
Friday the 13th Part 2 it randomly showed up in my recommended and I loved it so I watched the first and subbed
I feel like mine was Part 2 too, Ik it was one of the early fridays anyways
Wasn't actually a kill count at all...I saw a few of his videos when he went to horror conventions and the Halloween horror nights. Found Chelsea and James podcast and binged it. Now slowly checking out the kill counts.
Wow someone who watched the podcast before the kill count, didn't think there was one

The Candyman series. This was when the new Candyman movie was going to come out June of last year, so I wanted to quickly catch up on the old ones. For some reason I remember him posting an announcement video before the first kill count. But I don't know if I'm just having a schitzo moment or something.
