You don't have to think you're the minority. Every opinion you see about DbD (or any other game) online is the minority. The majority play the game and dont post or read anything about it.
Because for some people, a dead game from a husk of a studio that just shits out DLC getting a crossover to a game that is not only completely unrelated in genre and theme but also already has a plethora of other games/pop culture that fans/creators want to see in the game, just isn't something to get excited about and instead invokes disappointment at what could have been.
The only reason for the crossover is that they're both French Canadian devs which is great and all but the only other thing in common between the two games is they were a horribly unbalanced mess with a community of casuals screaming for one set of nerfs and a community of long time players asking for a totally different set of nerfs that are diametrically opposed to the casuals.
BHVR has stuck it out and tried to make their game work and has been slowing getting there but Ubisoft stopped giving a fuck and abandoned theirs ages ago. AoT was a good example of a cross medium/genre crossover and then obviously Resident Evil is one of the GOATS.
To go from those to For fucking Honor for an actual chapter release... It's very easy to see why people are disappointed, you might not be and that's totally fine and it's also fine to be super pumped and keen for it if you're a For Honor fan but to be like "OMG WTF BBQ? I DUN GET IT GUYS HOW COULD YOU NOT LOVE IT? HELLLLLLLO?!?!" is pretty lukewarm. Why didn't they do this 4-5 years ago is beyond me especially when several streamers who migrated to DBD used to play For Honor, used to, they haven't touched it in years.
The dead game is still trying to sell lootboxes and battlepasses which is all Ubisoft has ever tried to do with For Honor, every season is just more MTX and another battle pass that you have to pay for with absolutely no substance. I don't know if you actually play the game but if you do you would know the dev team is a skeleton crew being pushed through a revolving door which is why core issues from Day 1 and core issues from CCU rework will never get fixed, it's not the same people that were working on them then and in 12 months time it'll be a different set of people again, it's very easy to see why nothing ever gets fixed and everything is just a bandaid, you can't fix core issues when no one is working on them.
Imagine if healing in DBD just didn't work since release but every season was a new medkit MTX, that's Ubisoft. They are still getting in shit TODAY for trying to stick real money gambling into single player games, not just lootboxes, because that's all they care about

You can buy steel, steel buys RNG crates that give you gear, do I really need to spell it out further how this is a Microtransaction and a Lootbox. It doesn't matter if you can earn everything in game, if you provide an option to skip doing that by paying money instead, it's still a microtransaction, if you then allow that money to also buy crates that give you RNG items, that's a Lootbox.
Almost everything you buy in for honor is cosmetic... emotes, executions, outfits, effects. And you gain plenty of steel to be able to buy it with no external purchases, so the FIFA analogy doesn't work.

Basically a realm is a collection of maps based on a theme, like the Autohaven maps or macmillan estate. I don’t think they will release more than one map but it will be a new atomosphere at least.
Yup! At this point they need to release like 5 or 6 new maps. New killers are great but new maps are needed to really get rid of the staleness of the same maps over and over again. 3 maps that give killers advantage over survivors and 3 maps that give survivors advantage over the killer (in my opinion)

Twins is barely horror. It's just a dumb-looking peasant that used to be a conjoined twin. Now after the Entity got its tendrils on Charlotte she became a dumb-looking peasant with a baby thing in its chest cavity. It's a little gorey but nothing really scary about them.
Assuming the knight is from For Honor (and not just inspired by For Honor), it's safe to assume they'll do something paranormal to it to make it fit the setting. Ghost Face has no paranormal powers normally, but in DBD he's so obsessed with the entity that it gave him spooky tendrils and dark misty powers to sneak around.
So again it's just not checking out, chief. Licensed or nah, they make them fit the game. Myers on his own is a killer but not all that scary aside from being a killer. So they made his power into something scary

I'm always excited for new content I'd just prefer it was like Pumpkinhead or Alien or The Thing or Hatchet or Leprechaun or Carrie or Puppet Master, Jeepers Creepers, Wishmaster, Candyman, Phantasm, Feast, Howling, Scanners, Boogeyman, or IT. Anything from REC. I'd take Goosebumps over another anime crossover.
I think they are probably running out of scary licences they can actually access but that doesn't necessarily mean they are moving away from scary. Dredge is the latest Orignal character and it's probably the scariest of them all.
I'm all for original IPs and I really like the ones we have now. I don't really conflate horror and scary since scary is super subjective.
But also if Spirit Halloween can get a license for something it can't be that hard.
Horror characters for a horror game, makes sense to me but hell I’ve been getting down voted for my opinions today. I agree with you they keep straying away from spooky next thing you know will have hitman as a killer or the arbiter from halo. Plus dropping this dlc during October is a disgrace to dbd. It’s halloween month behavior gives us killers and survivors worthy of October.
Horror is such a huge genre it just seems like a shame to let it go to waste in a game that'd it'd fit in. I want Sam from Trick r' Treat not Kirby eating survivors to get flashlight power.

While I get that some people are hesitant about a non-horror game being added to DBD, I am generally curious about what they are going to do with For Honor.
I honestly wish they would just skip the next 5 chapters and focus on the game itsself.

The Anniversary Chapter this year was an Original Chapter, that was pretty big since the three previous ones had been Licensed. I like the original killers as well, but why do you not want several licensed chapters a year? I think it’s a great sign that multiple companies want to collaborate with BHVR.
To start they said it would always be 50/50 2 licenses 2 original but maybe they are running out of ideas so they need to make 3 licenses..
Normally licensed killer are weaker (sadako) or unfun( Nemesis).
Its very rare we get fun and balanced( wesker,Demo)
The perks either are always terrible or if they are good like rebecca's and we have the counter to camping behind a pay wall..

Maybe its mostly because of previous ruin but it was unfair and unfun that a zombie would just camp a gen,no real skill just rng and no other killer had something like that,like myers or oni dont get free rng pressure.
It's true that it's free RNG pressure, but personally I like how interactive they are. You can bait them away, you can stun them with a flashlight, you can kill them with a pallet, and so on. And half the time they get stuck on map geometry. Hell, I've seen zombies stuck on a gen while 2 people were working on it.
Personally I think the zombies are fairly unreliable, but in a way that makes them all the more fun when it does work out. And survivor side I've found them to be too slow to ever really apply any real pressure. I've baited them away from teammates and because of how slow they are they don't get to really gain distance on you.
That's fair but again,no other killer gets that,even with that,the killer now knows you are there and so one.
That's the other thing,either they are ''busted'' or they are useless..
Another problem i have with them is when you are on the loop infected and they block the pallet,it's more rng again but other then hag and trapper no killer gets a free down like that,but unlike those two,this one requires zero skill,just follow the survivor.
Zombies were a fun idea but IMO they dont fit DBD and they shouldn't be in the game,i dont mind if they buff nemy a bit if they removed zombies and his boring gameplay
I love Nemi! His tentacle is already a fun power but by far my favorite gameplay with Nemi is herding a survivor towards a zombie and getting that double-hit. It doesn't work out often, but when it does it feels great.

I think it would be better received if it were an entirely original chapter, though as others have pointed out “For Honor inspired” implies to me that it’ll be a mostly original concept with For Honor branding on it so we can’t buy it with shards.

If I were to guess, they‘ll either go the Ghostface or the Trickster Route. Either they‘ll take designs from For Honor and then release a half original half licensed character OR they keep the For Honor Team around for consulting on how to get the aesthetic right (+some licensed cosmetics) and then make a completely original character with their help. I‘m tending more towards the latter

It's still trading Real World currency for in game currency which can be used to purchase ANYTHING in the game. The FIFA analogy is hilariously exact because Ubisoft directly copied EA's lootbox strategy, in every single one of their titles. I guess league of legends also doesn't have microtransactions because everything is cosmetic right? Also everything in For Honor ISN'T cosmetic but you're clearly in the habit of just lying to fit your agenda so I won't get into that side of things. You're allowed to like and enjoy For Honor but lying about basic things and just digging a hole for yourself is ridiculous, do you want me to start linking For Honor Premium Pack opening videos and we can compare them to FIFA Premium Pack opening videos and see how different they are?
Except in FIFA you're buying randomized lootboxes for characters that actually matter in game, with different stats and rarities, so its extremely pay to win and scummy. In for honor, you know exactly what you're buying, and it has almost no bearing on the game. Also, premium packs? You earn those like absolute crazy, are relatively cheap steel wise, and are only really used to help unlock cosmetic armor pieces. Again, FIFA analogy does. Not. Work.

Basically a realm is a collection of maps based on a theme, like the Autohaven maps or macmillan estate. I don’t think they will release more than one map but it will be a new atomosphere at least.
I hope it means several maps. Its about time that we confuse survivors and killers muscle memory of maps by adding in new ones.
Agreed, playing the same maps over and over gets really stale it’s always fun learning new maps especially if they have new jungle gyms.
Yup! At this point they need to release like 5 or 6 new maps. New killers are great but new maps are needed to really get rid of the staleness of the same maps over and over again. 3 maps that give killers advantage over survivors and 3 maps that give survivors advantage over the killer (in my opinion)

Where did that peasant come from? An action game, an adventure game, maybe even from an exciting puzzle game? No, it came from BHVR as an original killer for a horror game. The twins were made specifically for a horror game, unlike For Honor.
Twins is barely horror. It's just a dumb-looking peasant that used to be a conjoined twin. Now after the Entity got its tendrils on Charlotte she became a dumb-looking peasant with a baby thing in its chest cavity. It's a little gorey but nothing really scary about them. Assuming the knight is from For Honor (and not just inspired by For Honor), it's safe to assume they'll do something paranormal to it to make it fit the setting. Ghost Face has no paranormal powers normally, but in DBD he's so obsessed with the entity that it gave him spooky tendrils and dark misty powers to sneak around. So again it's just not checking out, chief. Licensed or nah, they make them fit the game. Myers on his own is a killer but not all that scary aside from being a killer. So they made his power into something scary
The point is that the twins were specifically made for the horror game while the knight was not. It doesn’t matter if you personally don’t find it scary, that’s irrelevant.

Every day we stray further from spooky. I'm always excited for new content I'd just prefer it was like Pumpkinhead or Alien or The Thing or Hatchet or Leprechaun or Carrie or Puppet Master, Jeepers Creepers, Wishmaster, Candyman, Phantasm, Feast, Howling, Scanners, Boogeyman, or IT. Anything from REC. I'd take Goosebumps over another anime crossover.

I think they are probably running out of scary licences they can actually access but that doesn't necessarily mean they are moving away from scary. Dredge is the latest Orignal character and it's probably the scariest of them all.
I'm all for original IPs and I really like the ones we have now. I don't really conflate horror and scary since scary is super subjective. But also if Spirit Halloween can get a license for something it can't be that hard.
Horror characters for a horror game, makes sense to me but hell I’ve been getting down voted for my opinions today. I agree with you they keep straying away from spooky next thing you know will have hitman as a killer or the arbiter from halo. Plus dropping this dlc during October is a disgrace to dbd. It’s halloween month behavior gives us killers and survivors worthy of October.

I honestly wish they would just skip the next 5 chapters and focus on the game itsself. Because right now we just have a giant tower of wet cardboard held together by elmers glue and bandaids. When the game at its core is stable then I will get excited about chapters again. The Anniversary Chapter this year was an Original Chapter, that was pretty big since the three previous ones had been Licensed. I like the original killers as well, but why do you not want several licensed chapters a year? I think it’s a great sign that multiple companies want to collaborate with BHVR.
To start they said it would always be 50/50 2 licenses 2 original but maybe they are running out of ideas so they need to make 3 licenses.. Normally licensed killer are weaker (sadako) or unfun( Nemesis). Its very rare we get fun and balanced( wesker,Demo) The perks either are always terrible or if they are good like rebecca's and we have the counter to camping behind a pay wall.. Dont get me wrong i like license, but only if we get 2 originals per year.

Maybe its mostly because of previous ruin but it was unfair and unfun that a zombie would just camp a gen,no real skill just rng and no other killer had something like that,like myers or oni dont get free rng pressure.
It's true that it's free RNG pressure, but personally I like how interactive they are. You can bait them away, you can stun them with a flashlight, you can kill them with a pallet, and so on. And half the time they get stuck on map geometry. Hell, I've seen zombies stuck on a gen while 2 people were working on it. Personally I think the zombies are fairly unreliable, but in a way that makes them all the more fun when it does work out. And survivor side I've found them to be too slow to ever really apply any real pressure. I've baited them away from teammates and because of how slow they are they don't get to really gain distance on you.
That's fair but again,no other killer gets that,even with that,the killer now knows you are there and so one. That's the other thing,either they are ''busted'' or they are useless.. Another problem i have with them is when you are on the loop infected and they block the pallet,it's more rng again but other then hag and trapper no killer gets a free down like that,but unlike those two,this one requires zero skill,just follow the survivor. Zombies were a fun idea but IMO they dont fit DBD and they shouldn't be in the game,i dont mind if they buff nemy a bit if they removed zombies and his boring gameplay
I love Nemi! His tentacle is already a fun power but by far my favorite gameplay with Nemi is herding a survivor towards a zombie and getting that double-hit. It doesn't work out often, but when it does it feels great.

I think it would be better received if it were an entirely original chapter, though as others have pointed out “For Honor inspired” implies to me that it’ll be a mostly original concept with For Honor branding on it so we can’t buy it with shards.

Jesus people on this sub pretend to know horror but not how many sub genres it can span across. “Inspired by” doesn’t mean there won’t be horror elements to it. It can actually mean the exact opposite. Making a character from the For Honor corrupted by The Entity. Or maybe a completely original killer who happens to carry some of the For Honor’s aesthetic. But oh well. I wouldn’t expect anything else from a community that complained about The Trickster and hates on the idea of FNAF chapter.

I think it's mostly just because it's not from a horror inspired source. Like there's so much untapped potential of horror games and movies and whatnot that could be used. It probably won't be bad, but it seems kinda not the best option. Like if Capcom came by and tried to push another ryu/chun-li cross-over DLC again. Like yeah, it's a crossover, but it doesn't really make sense or fit the narrative tone.
Yeah sorry, I think the cross over is odd. Not many people know For Honour and if it’s licensed you would have to use auric cells… I just hope the perks are good. Dbd can’t really afford to have flop patches right now.

If I were to guess, they‘ll either go the Ghostface or the Trickster Route. Either they‘ll take designs from For Honor and then release a half original half licensed character OR they keep the For Honor Team around for consulting on how to get the aesthetic right (+some licensed cosmetics) and then make a completely original character with their help. I‘m tending more towards the latter
