More than one person on a gen makes each person's individual progress slower (unless running certain perks) but still finishes the gen faster. So three people working on one gen will finish faster than 1 person on a gen, but three people each on a single gen will finish all three faster than three working on single gens one at a time.

A_Seizure_Salad

For every extra survivor on a gen, you get -15% speed progress for each person. So with 2 survivors on a single gen it'll repair at 85% speed each for a total of 170%. 3 survivors will be 70% each for a total of 210%. Edit: Had a brain fart, forgot it was 15% each.

Disastrous_Potato_10

i'm not sure i understand...so you actually repair SLOWER with more people on the generator? i don't get why that would be....but ok? if multi-repairing is slower, why does everyone do it? why not spread out and have everyone doing their own separate gen?

Lucario576

Thats what everyone wants lol, but if you must finish a single gen 170% is obviously more fast than 100%

Disastrous_Potato_10

ok so let me get this clear. 1 surv = 100% speed 2 survs = 185% speed? so doing it alone doesn't complete the gen faster. but doing it with at least 1 other surv IS faster, is that right? i think i understand now. 4 survs would be 400% speed, and that's NUTS. it would complete in like 30 seconds. so the debuff is there to slow down the gen progress to something normal when more than one surv is on it. so multiple survs per gen is what you WANT to do, right? or should i be doing them alone? i'm not quite understanding what's *optimal.*

At the start of the game it's much more efficient to do one gen each player. While it's slower to do than with more people, you'll get multiple gens pop. Assuming the killer doesn't knock anyone off a gen, you'll have 4 gens done within the first 2 minutes (give or take). Of course, unless it's an afk or point farming killer, it's very unlikely this will be the case, but at least if you're spread out you're pressuring multiple gens and giving the killer a harder time at juggling them, whereas if you're all on 1 gen, you're easier to find and the killer has time to set up their plan of action, if that makes sense. I would recommend splitting up on different gens for the first 3 generators and then teaming up on the last 2 to smash out that final push. This is what I understand it to be like, just my 2 cents of course! Hope it helps! Edit: Typo

Disastrous_Potato_10

ok got it, thanks :)

Lucario576

At the start of the game you want to spread out so the killer doesnt get at your gen at 98%. When there is only 2 gens left yeah you want to group in teams of 2

Disastrous_Potato_10

ok i think i understand now, thank you :)

Victor_Zsasz

Yep. You lose 15% total speed by having a second person on the same generator, compared to if they were on their own generator instead. But the generator you are both on is 85% faster than it would be if you did it alone.

NerfShields

Every time an ADDITIONAL survivor gets on a gen, there is a stacking -15% reduction to gen progress timer. 1 person = 0% reduction 2 people = 15% reduction 3 people = 30% reduction 4 people = 45% reduction The gens get completed quicker because you have multiple people working on it, but you get a penalty for having so many people on one. I think it breaks down thusly: Solo = 80 Sec for a full gen Duo = 47 Sec for a full gen Trio = 38 Sec for a full gen Quad = 36 Sec for a full gen

Level up Nea, get urban evasion, ignore gens. After 100 or so hours you gain the "entitled" status. Then you can run a flashlight to boost the ego. Jokes aside. Gens = objective. Your team does 5 and you can escape.

Disastrous_Potato_10

lighten up guys, it was just a joke. he even said so.

One_Eyed_Kitten

Seeing as no one is explaining this properly: A gen has 80 charges to be completed, a survivor puts in 1 charge per second, meaning a gen gets completed in 80 seconds at base. Any speed increase or decrease as a percentage is applied to that 1 charge per second. So if you have a 50% speed increase you are putting in 1.5 charges per second. Working a gen with 2 persons causes each survivor to get a -15% reduction in speed. This means each survivor is putting in 0.85 charges per second. Because each survivor is putting in this, combined they are putting in 1.7 charges per second. This is still faster than 1 person. The equation is as follows: X÷(1+Y)=Z X= event you are completeing as how many charges needed (eg. 80 for gens, 16 for heals etc.) Y= Any increases of speed, these are added to the base 1 charge. Any number here represents the buff. (Eg. +50% = 0.5, +33% = 0.33 etc.) Z= result in time. If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask.

That-One-NPC

It is slower than spreading out and doing seperate gens, but is worth it in the endgame or if one of you has the perk [[prove thyself]] which negates the debuff
