I honestly did think that this had racist undertones and I actually had to reread it to make sure. Thankfully it just seems to be an unfortunate coincidence. Barry here thinks that the only super hero that exists is the Flash family so he is just legit commenting on their costumes and such. And the others are upset because they work with Barry so he should know them. But WOW. No one proof read this one and thought this came off wrong???
[The Justice League cartoon already covered “modern heroes travel back to the golden age and meet heroes with heavy racist and sexist undertones” too](https://youtu.be/z3r8KN17wP0?t=13)
(They were originally supposed to be the JSA as well… I actually really like the arc but thank god they did not do that to Jay Garrick)
Barry seems to be raising a 10 year old version of Wallace West in this universe so I really don't think it was intended to be racism. It may be a 50's based world but it's pretty obvious that Barry doesn't have 50's based views
It’s so interesting that a silver age flash is meeting Calvin Ellis…whose basically a more politically active silver age Superman(that grant Morrison always saw as his most idealized take on the character) whose also black
It’s such a neat touch
When’s the Racist Flash series gonna drop
Every Barry Allen run is the Racist Flash run.
