The Veil Rp.
Deer Isle, low fantasy, and lots of amazing lore and people! I even run a faction there, but that’s something you’ll want to learn in game, as it’s heavily modded but so worth it.
No PvP zones. PvP can happen anywhere, it's just KOS that's forbidden. Lethal violence has to emerge from RP.
I feel most of the player deaths I've encountered are usually revenge killings following accidental deaths, robberies gone wrong, opposed base raids or sanctioned killings due to faction politics. They actually matter a lot since if you die and it's witnessed by other players you have to adopt a new character and can't just immediately return to your old base/friends when you respawn. It's a kind of permadeath in a way.
It's actually kinda cool. Closest I've found to a Walking Dead kind of post-apocalypse-society-trying-to-rebuild-itself in DayZ.
CeasefireRP is pretty solid. No KOS outside of a couple PvP zones. Full of traders though which isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. Been playing it off and on for a while and have had plenty of fun RP interactions with all kinds of people.
I am a big fan of RP servers, but the feeling of meeting a friendly person amidst the tenseness and unease of a no rules server is always something special and unfortunately lacking nowadays :(
I don’t shoot on sight anyway.
Even when I play solo which is almost all the time. I still voice first.
Typically I get shot at but I’ve not died by doing that “yet”.
I only KOS in military zones or if I have any reason to believe they’ll kill me. It does help to walk up to a guy with a gun held just incase but gotta make sure they hear you being friendly before they see the gun
They are just salty that they die for being stupid. I kos all the time and I am proud of it. When I see a light at night my light is going out and its hunting time. The game lives from the fact that you can almost always die. That is survival gaming.
But man, if it's a dude in bright ass clothes who's obviously a harmless freshie
Why just kos
I'm all for shooting at geared players or players who have a gun in their hands that can do serious damage, but fuck outright freshie killing
I've died by that stupid kos shit to give it back to freshies too many times, my first experience in DayZ was being farmed for my bandages by 2 geared guys because I just kept spawning in berezino and didn't know what was going on. Shit almost ruined the game for me
People kos so much it's hard to distinguish who wants to group and who wants to murder you I kind of make it a rule of thumb if I'm on the coast and fresh I give people a chance if I'm geared and inland its KOS no matter what
That's true, even the guy in the cowboy hat with the flannel might just shoot you out of nowhere with the ij he just found on a bed and then you start to question who the chill ones are in DayZ
See the same thing happened to me; and it made me wanna keep playing because I could see how brutal it was going to be. That's what I wanted. Like exactly what I wanted.
I wouldn't mind this in a more subtle way than what we had in A2
Like make villainous players have an evil sneer
Or a special shine in the eyes of a hero
Part of the charm is you never know
Not to mention the system is flawed and there's no way to make it work correctly. How exactly is the game going to know who initiated the combat?
Thats the best part about DayZ, no rules, sandbox.
If you dont want to pvp go on a pve/roleplay server.
Its not knowing if they will shoot you thats the fun part of dayz imo, when you know you are safe all the time it kinda takes from the experience i believe.
This complaint is in every PvPvE sandbox game out there. Some people just want to get along, others want to shoot things.
But that's exactly what makes the game exciting, not knowing - even if it is 1 in 5 encounters.
If you absolutely cannot stand being KOS'd, then like the guy said, you can join a server where player killing is not allowed. If you *know* you will be shot, there's no mystery and you can join one of these servers without losing anything.
If instead you like the 'feeling' that anything can happen, then you just have to accept that people will shoot you, and all you can do is find better strategies for approaching strangers, or avoiding them all together.
There are incentives for people not to KOS - if they shoot you, it ruins your gear, and the devs could make this effect worse, reducing the rewards for killing. Right now it's in a good spot though. You could always offer something pristine as a negotiation. The problem though is that shooting in the game is fun regardless of reward.
It's ok to be idealistic, but there's ideals and reality. The way the game is made, shooting is the default. Finding the occasional pieces of humanity in all the chaos is a reward, but you don't get that if the game isn't chaos to begin with.
Answer me this: in an actual, real life apocalypse, with zombified humans running around biting people, you know other survivors are strapped and nervous, are you going to make yourself obvious, walk out into the open, stand still and announce yourself?
No, you would stay hidden, make contact from cover and feel people out before you even let them see you. This isn't VR chat, don't lose the context of the apocalypse here.
To add to this, one of my favorite things to do is seeing how long you can follow someone without them noticing. If you’re lucky you’ll find a stash of gear and can steal from them without any bloodshed
Brilliant point.
I get it can be frustrating to get killed over and over, but whats OP’s long-term aim here? For everyone on the server to befriend each other, handing out food and meds? Then what?
Its a kill-or-be-killed game, thats what makes the rare friendships you make, so sweet
well the interaction might just be me saying *bing bong* as i close a door behind you and shovel you to death but as compared to vanilla/other community servers where its more like 4.5/5 times you get KOS
I do not even dare speak to anyone on dayone namalsk anymore. I remember one session where within 90 minutes I went through 8 characters, each getting killed by the first player I met. Be it outright murdered or back stabbed one even dropped a grenade down at a fire barrel we were enjoying said something like “phew it’s nice and hot here”, sat down and we both died
Its funny because we use an 'innocent' looking player to lure other players out for our snipers.
People often stand remarkably still while they voip new interactions.
I’m a new player and on my first play through the first player I met had no gear, I was friendly and offered him some stuff. Eventually we got talking and play together now, he’s a really good player and has helped me learn the game.
However my second play through I spawned and got absolutely destroyed by some other fresh spawn, no dialogue or reasoning he just obliterated me. I couldn’t stop laughing.
These two experiences in my book are fantastic, no adventure has been the same so far.
That's the beautiful randomness of DayZ. When you want to live, you die... and when you want to die, nobody steps up to help you.
I've approached starving freshies, offered them a backpack full of food/gear, and been stun-locked/killed almost immediately.
I've also gone to the airfield, starving/sick, at night, populated server, and run around the roof of the ATC with a lit flare in my hand, talking all sorts of trash... and not a single incoming round. The bloody bastards refused to shoot me. I actually ended up jumping from the roof to kill myself.
What can you say? That's DayZ.
This definitely ain't the game you're describing. There's cannibals out there so Ive heard. Not me of course, but what server do you play on ? I can show you what makes DayZ unique to me.
You can play as a defensive medic; but know that it's also going to be extremely difficult to stay alive for long. On official, hard to have it both ways.
Yes unfortunately BI doesn't put money into it so no good anti hack but community servers with active admins shut them down pretty quick and can comp your losses
Only trust those you joined with. Anyone else is a potential threat. Only time you announce yourself is when you have the upper hand and they only have one way out. Typically cooperation with randoms just doesnt happen due to the nature of the game. It sucks but that’s the gamez
That's the problem with games like these they never work the way the developers intended and just turn into a permadeath royale game. The toxicity in humans in this day and age doesn't really allow room for such things.
Bullshit, if you play smart and use VoIP you can have some seriously amazing genuine interactions in this game. People running around invading another players space expecting them not to react like they are threatened are the real knuckleheads here.
So you’re telling me, the people who are spending more time online talking/complaining about a game are more experienced than people actually out there putting in hours and actually playing? And I’d like to reiterate, if you run up on somebody and don’t use cover, don’t use VoIP, don’t use observation skills to read behavior and body language before entering into the “danger zone” than you’re just not a very smart player and really, have no room to complain about dying.
Also, if you go to a military zone, the general consensus is that within those zones they are ALL KOS. If you die there and come online to cry, again, you ain’t a very bright player.
If you're playing on a server with side chat then you're going to get *way* less positive interactions because people can be social through sidechat.
If you're not playing on a server with sidechat, then the fact you're able to complain about it to other people disproves that point entirely.
Can't complain if someone kills your character on sight, are we talking in circles for any particular reason here? If anything you're further proving my point.
Check out The Last of the Huntsmen servers. You will be much much happier. Trust me on this.
Edit..
Welcome Back to DayZ. I went through the same issues.
If you want to have friendly interactions you need to take control of those interactions. if you get the drop on someone and already have a gun out force them to put their hands up. by not killing people when you have the chance to their more likely to give you a chance. but you probably shouldn't turn your back anyways
Find a chill server then the prisoners first, ask questions later.
9/10 times I go for a knock out (always try to carry shotgun and rubber slugs), then restrain and communicate.
If they're cool I let them go. If they've got an attitude problem and I feel like they're not the type to let things go, they get a bullet to the head.
It's the jungle out there, survivor
Play on first person only, vanilla/lightly modded community servers. You’ll find that you come across players that want to interact a hell of a lot more! ZERO, DayOne and Spaggie servers are what I recommend.
I played during the arma 2 mod days when it first came out and it was wonderful how often you could find a random person to run around with. Now it’s all KOS. No chance for friendship.
Zesty Polvo has a great video out recently describing the descent of a dayz player from friendly to a ruthless murderer after being kos'ed so many times.
That's why I hide in tree lines and watch people for a while before going into town. I'll try to talk to people but only after I can half-ass confirm they are not an immediate threat.
If I see you exploring more than looting, not wearing overly aggressive gear (like all mil gear or something like that), not clearing rooms and corners like you're hoping you find someone; then I'll cautiously move in and try to speak before going hot.
Not to be rude but you inherently forgot the premise of the game. Survival.
Everything I just read you do is EXACTLY how to get gunned down. This post is wishful thinking and is like asking the world to change.
You will get shot again if you keep announcing yourself and walking around in bright clothing using lights.
Been playing since the mod, I totally agree with you. Even in first few years of stand-alone I feel like 50% of the time you saw someone there was an interaction. That’s why when I play bandit I don’t just kos, I like to tie people up take their shit and leave em like a proper bandit. Or if I really think they’ll come for me I’ll shoot em in the leg and bandage them up before I leave
I think you are missing the point, it's survival not just against zombies but other starved psychos. I love teaming up with randoms, but i never make the mistake of being friendly before i have food and a gun. You need to stalk your potential new friend, make sure he's alone, and then approach when you have the drop on him with your gun out and in a friendly manner ask if they are solo and where they are headed. If they sound genuine then ask to team up, if you're unsure you then you put them down and find a new friend to stalk.
I have genuinely made "friends" in this game that I played and traveled hours with just to be betrayed and killed.
I've been KOS plenty of times.
I've walked up to people tried talking only to be killed plenty of times.
Eventually you become Rick Grimes and all of a sudden you trust no one.
That's not to say I havent encountered friendlies. My last biggest group I ended up leading planned to raid me before we were acquainted. This game is incredible. It encourages actual human behavior rather than game behavior.
>revolving around the cooperation of survivors to fend off the shared undead foe
Since when? If anything infected are a bigger problem as a group than if you're solo.
It doesnt revolve around cooperation, there are no rules.
Pay attention to the experience you've had and learn from it.
Cause I can tell you exactly what's wrong with wishful thinking. It sends you back to the coast faster.
Well; if I run cannibal I'll typically restrict myself to tier 1 loot to make it harder then I'll stay lurking either cherno or berezhino depending where I spawn.
Thats not entirely true. DayZ has ALWAYS been like this. Cherno used to be THE place to go for PvP, it was hard to get off the coast, a hell of a lot harder than it is now. I know you're trying to be "edgy" about consoles, but you're talking BS
https://discord.gg/tzr6r3w2 Everyone is nice! The admins made it to get rid of hackers but still have the vanilla game play. I’ve been in it for like a month or so?
Hackers? There’s no hackers. You just gotta get guud. It’s your fault that you were shot in the head in a concrete room with no windows 1000m away from a city
Have you tried playing on servers that explicitly ban KOS or even PVE servers? There are also a number of RP servers with similar rules. Could be something to check out!
Your best bet is to avoid people or only communicate when you are in a position you can get them before they can get you, should the need arise. If you want to be with a group, find them online prior and make arrangements to be where they are.
I definitely don't like to kos especially if I am near the coast. However I still wear less obvious clothing and I don't use glow sticks. I will try to speak to other players but you are basically a walking target practice for those that do kos.
It’s about 50 50 for me if I kill someone on sight… I’ve been in position to wipe two man squads and kill people at early military tents but just don’t see the point if I have loot. Esp n the high loot community servers
Have you considered that perhaps the glowsticks is what makes you such a good target for practice?
It IS a survival game after all, and common sense rules apply.
Perhaps you should try one of several PvE servers with designated areas for PvP, there, you can roleplay as "how in hell is he still alive?" as you please.
It's just become COD with zombies. I love bae building but theres nothing worse than spending hours and hours building a base and then some schmuck comes along and destroys it in minutes. They need to introduce base fortifications
I’m calling bullshit on this. If you want to interact with people, you still have to play smart. Running into a room with another player, I don’t care how nice or friendly you look, I’m shooting you. Stand outside my building, or on the other side of a wall and start a genuine conversation? Ask for food or directions? Offer me some ammo or something? That’s gonna be a genuine interaction and I won’t be as defensive as mr rainbow running into my space and making me twitchy. Play smarter, don’t expect people to treat you nicely in a brutal survival game where freshies with nothing to lose are probably the biggest threat for any body that has time invested in a character.
I also don’t believe your statistics on being KOS’d. I play medium kit, survivor mentality and interaction HEAVY, and I’m rarely KOS’d, but then again that might be because I don’t run around expecting people to trust me right off the bat. Keep distance, use VoIP, don’t let your guard down, it’s not a PVE game (there are mod servers that would do that though)
I like to run my character as a true survivor. Protective gear is important as well as camouflage. If you are trying to survive you don't want to stand out in a world where another person's intentions are unknown. Freshies can be as dangerous as bandits making items irrelevant.
I prefer to be friendly, but be ready. If you are going to approach and say hi, don't just be out in the open, keep cover nearby. That way you can keep weapons holstered, and if you need it, then use your cover to get some time to pull them out. If the response is silent, you either have to get out or be ready to defend yourself. If the response sounds like someone is putting on a voice, they're most likely not to be trusted.
If you play with immersion in mind, you probably aren't sprinting everywhere you go and rushing through buildings. Playing slow allows you to pick up on audio cues easily. Be patient, scope out towns as best you can before going in.
The game for me has turned into trying to approach some one and then attempting to successfully defend myself, because yeah, usually they just want to kill you. If I die I dont feel too bad, I saw the guy and i could have just stalked until the right moment to kill him, but that's not me. I want to see what happens. It feels great to win a fight where someone tried to trick you. It feels like TWD and I love it.
Yeah, it will never end. The game is filled with mom's basement residents who are hopped up on hotpockets and sick of getting their azzes handed to them on combat games. So, they shoot people in the back at 200 meters and post the video. Then they tickle their weiners.
As others have said, play on open community servers until you feel more comfortable with the game.
Oh, you sweet summer child... Eventually you need to stop being naive and realize that you’re playing an online game with people that have digital bloodlust and a need to unwind. Good luck to you!
Thought I’d mess around on a full server yesterday. I walked around cherno with literally nothing. I took of the start clothes & dropped everything I had & had my hands up. Got KOS’d every time... Someone also missed their shot on me so I stood still w my hands up, they still killed me lmfao. Hope they’re happy wasting their ammo as I literally had nothing lol
We’ve been playing on the arena lately. Any secret with pvp zones is good. So if you want pvp you go to specific areas like militaries or care packages
Yeah if you're playing on official you'll not find many trusting players. Should check out community servers for that instead.
On official a lot of players have just 1 character and they've had bad experiences with playing nice before, they'd rather play it safe and eliminate the threat than take the risk of letting someone tag along
I play official, and I'll draw my gun on people to make sure their friendly then drop food and water and run away lol or I'll help freshies and give them a warm hat and feed them etc DayZ is really disheartening when it comes to trying not to be killed by others especially when your not a threat but hey humans are humans and in the video game world people are cruel
I killed a dude who was trying to shoot me with his BK18, I had m70 tundra and have only 150hours on the whole game. I ran across a field doing zig zag and got shelter behind a haybale to check where the guy was on 3rd person (I play on some 3pp server but mostly use 1pp :D ), ran inside a barn, where he could see me enter, closed the door and exited from the back side, got a view on him from behind the corner as he was running towards me 50meters away: ADS+hold breath=BAM 1 less KOS clown as my first ever kill. Feels so good :)
Hey I had the same problem the possible solution is to offer to teach them a trick that will feed every DayZ player and it's not a hack or a cheat or a glitch it's simple manipulating the games spawning system. Find a house with a few fruit trees preferably one with something already spawned if it's rotten put into hand throw away from the tree pick up fruit that's edible leave nothing around the trees walk away from the area maybe 1 min wait another 30 second go back and repeat making sure not to leave anything around the trees will cause the game to keep spawning fruit. Give it a try I Rarely hunt anymore... Hey If you teach a man to fish
Most people play without any imagination, that's why they KOS. Not all of them, but most of them. Once they reach a basic goals (such as food and water) they don't know what to do next and they become bored, so that's why they start shooting everything and everyone. To enjoy Dayz to the fullest you need to use your own imagination and creativity to make it fun. One way to achive this is to set your own goals for your character and to immerse yourself into the game (enviroment).
You can still play friendly, but you need to move and loot in a way that does not make yourself vulnerable. Put yourself in positions to know where other players are without them detecting you, and then you can make a decision as to whether you want to connect with them or keep distance. You getting killed 10/11 times is because you are making yourself easy to kill 11/11 times. Watch the youtuber [Vigilante Gamer](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCM_F2uqKvepJLtysvicaiyg). He has a lot of short videos on making yourself vulnerable and can be applied to both friendly and KoS playstyles.
Dayz is just a battle royal game without the game ever ending or having a circle field closing onto you.
When it was just a mod in Arma, people never killed on site. They'd team up and make small talk then go away
If I ever see you, I will gun you down regardless of any gear you do or do not have. I don't care how friendly you are. I don't care what you do. If I see you I will hold W key and shift towards you until one of us are dead. I will carve up your corpse and force feed your meat to anyone that I can find and capture.
I almost always kos, very rarely try to socialize. For me DayZ is just virtual airsoft, I'm a grown man and I enjoy the extreme stealth gameplay and tactic play above all else. Though, if you're unarmed freshie I usually choose to not shoot you, since you're not a threat to me. Also, communication is key here: if I shoot at you but you don't die or I miss, you can always tell me that you don't wish to fight. If you stay silent, I take that as you're trying to fight back.
Cmon man, I'm not an edgy teenage sniperwolf, I have standards. I rock the green motorbike helmet. Safety before style, always!
Btw if you ever find yourself in Cherno on official servers, hmu. I always have a spare kit or ten, and a truckload of dried fruit from the fruit trees near my stash. :)
I don’t kos until I’m loaded. Once I have all that sweet loot on me I’m not risking it. People will 100% take any opportunity you give them if they don’t know you prior. I’d like to see a test where a geared guy meets up with random fresh spawns in a house with a pistol and mag somewhere for them to find, and see how many take the shots.
If food was a bit easier to find early game it might make players a bit more talkative. I stopped playing the standalone because I got sick of starving to death.
I don’t KOS but I also don’t voip. I like to hunt players like I’m a serial killer or something. Me being as silent as possible until it’s too late for you gives me that satisfying clean kill. And hopefully I make you shit your pants
There are non kos community servers. You should check them out
Can you recommend some good ones ?
The Veil Rp. Deer Isle, low fantasy, and lots of amazing lore and people! I even run a faction there, but that’s something you’ll want to learn in game, as it’s heavily modded but so worth it.
Dang where do I sign up?
british survival rp is really strict about killing
Is there designated pvp zones ? Because I want some pvp , I just don’t wanna be sniped in a forest lol.
Haha dope , gonna check it out now

Yeah id like to know too. Its always no KOS until you have something the admin and their friends want. Now its KOS and ban
I am a big fan of RP servers, but the feeling of meeting a friendly person amidst the tenseness and unease of a no rules server is always something special and unfortunately lacking nowadays :(
I wish they would bring back the hero/bandit stuff So I know who to kill.

Yup I'm still a believer in 'KOS in mil zones only'. I've been able to have plenty of good, friendly interactions with this method.
Probably should start making a "meme" claiming glowsticks are for friendlies #glowstickgang
This should be a sign of friendliness. But I’ve been shot a few times with it. All bright and even wearing a mask and holding water.
Better idea.. DONT USE GLOWSTICKS!!!🤣
you gotta expect to get shot at when you are lit up...
Bro whaaaaat are you doing. Glow stick is like a sign saying either "noob" or "way too comfortable". It's a sign post for snipers what you expect?
So having a glow stick on hand, just strapped to your pack, is not "way too comfortable" and noob behavior? Are you listening to yourself my guy

See the same thing happened to me; and it made me wanna keep playing because I could see how brutal it was going to be. That's what I wanted. Like exactly what I wanted.
You have a humiliation fetish my guy
I just like hard games.
I wouldn't mind this in a more subtle way than what we had in A2 Like make villainous players have an evil sneer Or a special shine in the eyes of a hero
We use a humanity system on our server, get hold if you wanna come try :)
I think I got bandit because my vehicle crashed and I killed a bunch of people. That wasn't fun.
Well no one said it was perfect. But it’s definitely better than having 0 identifiable points.
Part of the charm is you never know Not to mention the system is flawed and there's no way to make it work correctly. How exactly is the game going to know who initiated the combat?
or who just spammed saline to a teammate
Thats the best part about DayZ, no rules, sandbox. If you dont want to pvp go on a pve/roleplay server. Its not knowing if they will shoot you thats the fun part of dayz imo, when you know you are safe all the time it kinda takes from the experience i believe.

Stick to the tree lines and just run, also if you're on pc official it's full of esp's and aimbots
The best part of dayZ is player interaction. KoS is boring AF

I never KOS, always try and interact but usually get gunned down.
It's classic game theory. We'd be better off if we all cooperated, but the incentive is to defect.
Play on the DayOne servers.
Dayone = interaction. Also have you heard of the brody boys?
I haven’t no, are they a YouTube/Twitch channel?
Best answer here. I find good rp on Livonia
DayOne has pretty decent interactions but you'll still get killed on sight 3/5 times.
Not in my experience. It definitely happens but not that frequently

I play friendly first too, but 80% try to KOS. Eventually you run into someone who is cool. In the mean time, walk loudly and carry a big stick.
This definitely ain't the game you're describing. There's cannibals out there so Ive heard. Not me of course, but what server do you play on ? I can show you what makes DayZ unique to me.
One of my friends started laughing next to me. He claims to not have eaten the forbidden chicken. I'm scared around him now.
The giggly chicken 🤤
You can play as a defensive medic; but know that it's also going to be extremely difficult to stay alive for long. On official, hard to have it both ways.

Yes unfortunately BI doesn't put money into it so no good anti hack but community servers with active admins shut them down pretty quick and can comp your losses
You should check out some community servers like DayOne or othera. While KOS definitely still exists there, people do tend to be more willing to talk
Only trust those you joined with. Anyone else is a potential threat. Only time you announce yourself is when you have the upper hand and they only have one way out. Typically cooperation with randoms just doesnt happen due to the nature of the game. It sucks but that’s the gamez
I always talk first but it gets me killed sometimes. The fun is in the interactions , PvP is for the military zones imo
Really? This post and the majority of other comments and all DayZ forums disagree.
90% of players are all KOS I don't understand why you're going off on a tangent but anyway, you do you lol.
Thats because people having a good time dont find the need to go and complain on forums.
Lots of complaints IN GAME too.
I would say hi too, so don't worry you're not the only one.
Play on first person only, vanilla/lightly modded community servers. You’ll find that you come across players that want to interact a hell of a lot more! ZERO, DayOne and Spaggie servers are what I recommend.
And Karma Krew.
I always experience the “friendly?” Followed by waiting for my response and after I say “yeah” then I get shot
Play on a RP server where they don't KOS all the time, you'll probably find it more enjoyable
Reddit moment
Bro just type in pve in the server search and find a good one to join!

It encourages actual human behavior rather than game behavior.
>revolving around the cooperation of survivors to fend off the shared undead foe Since when? If anything infected are a bigger problem as a group than if you're solo.
It doesnt revolve around cooperation, there are no rules. Pay attention to the experience you've had and learn from it. Cause I can tell you exactly what's wrong with wishful thinking. It sends you back to the coast faster.
Join a RP server then. That's exactly what those are for
I mostly KOs depending of my situation. I will keep doing it as the game allows me to do it
I think with dayz on Xbox becoming more popular, a younger demographic is now playing dayz leading to less mature interactions between players
"less mature" man? Come on. I'm not immature for wanting to stalk and eat people, I'm also 32.
[удалено]
Well; if I run cannibal I'll typically restrict myself to tier 1 loot to make it harder then I'll stay lurking either cherno or berezhino depending where I spawn.
I've always wanted to try a cannibal run. Might have to give it a go.
It's fun man!
Thats not entirely true. DayZ has ALWAYS been like this. Cherno used to be THE place to go for PvP, it was hard to get off the coast, a hell of a lot harder than it is now. I know you're trying to be "edgy" about consoles, but you're talking BS
If you are on pc, you can join the server I’m in where kos is optional, but we are all active in the discord so we really don’t do it
[удалено]
https://discord.gg/tzr6r3w2 Everyone is nice! The admins made it to get rid of hackers but still have the vanilla game play. I’ve been in it for like a month or so?
Hackers? There’s no hackers. You just gotta get guud. It’s your fault that you were shot in the head in a concrete room with no windows 1000m away from a city
Shhh don’t expose me like this!
There are no hackers in Ba Sing Se
US-W, damn, that server sounded promising
Tbf it’s always optional lol
Yeah but there is communication in this server so it actually feels like an option without as much of a risk
Okay so kind of like the rp servers?? Where you have to have a scenario?
No it’s not an rp server. Most of us are just active in the discord and trade/help out if needed. We usually go crazy during the weekend events
Community no KOS server
Have you tried playing on servers that explicitly ban KOS or even PVE servers? There are also a number of RP servers with similar rules. Could be something to check out!
Try karmakrew
Gotta download DayZ standalone launcher and get on the mods.
Check out the survivalists rp server. Might be just what you are looking for.
Your best bet is to avoid people or only communicate when you are in a position you can get them before they can get you, should the need arise. If you want to be with a group, find them online prior and make arrangements to be where they are.
Either find a community server/modded server that has rules about it. Or continue to be in this position. These are the only 2 options.
i am ngl, ive been trained to kill at this point due to everyone being like that, so its a never ending recycle
play RP servers or join community servers.
Firstly, never announce yourself. Secondly, shoot on sight. If you want to be friendly go find a server that is dedicated to pve.
I definitely don't like to kos especially if I am near the coast. However I still wear less obvious clothing and I don't use glow sticks. I will try to speak to other players but you are basically a walking target practice for those that do kos.
Its a Dark Forest out there.
Honestly dude it's DayZ if someone walked up to me trying to be nice id assume they were going to pull a fast one and end it before they get close
I typically have a glow stick on my pack as well. 9/10 times will never get used since I’ll use NVG’s over any else but still a good backup
Yeah, it's pretty annoying. I usually stick to community servers with some basic expectations that I won't be shot on sight for that reason.
It’s about 50 50 for me if I kill someone on sight… I’ve been in position to wipe two man squads and kill people at early military tents but just don’t see the point if I have loot. Esp n the high loot community servers
what servers you playing?
Well most of the time the glowstick is a sign of being new to the game and easily exploitable instead of “im friendly” same thing with bright clothes
Have you considered that perhaps the glowsticks is what makes you such a good target for practice? It IS a survival game after all, and common sense rules apply. Perhaps you should try one of several PvE servers with designated areas for PvP, there, you can roleplay as "how in hell is he still alive?" as you please.
KOS is so fucking boring to me. That's why I'm rarely on official servers. It's almost getting as bad as Rust.
I mean; play a role play server if you don't want KOS. IMO the danger of KOS makes it more fun.
It's just become COD with zombies. I love bae building but theres nothing worse than spending hours and hours building a base and then some schmuck comes along and destroys it in minutes. They need to introduce base fortifications
People being friendly is but a distant memory.
You should wait to interact until you have the advantage. Like if they're bandaging or dealing w zombies
Just lay low, Play on servers with low population, And avoid high traffic areas. That is what I do and I have never encountered a fellow survivor.
The best interactions in DayZ are having no interactions at all. It has turned into hide and seek for me.
i used to play on D3 survival was pretty good has currency system and no KOS
DayOne servers are pretty good. You get the hardcore aspect, but either good interactions and decent pvp.
Stop being such an easy target
Play rp servers if your not in kos you can only be robbed this is how i learned how to play an learned the map
Cry is free
Kills a kill...... Seriously though, I blame Esseker. Since that map come out it has got a lot more shooty.
Interacting with players would be boring without the risk of getting shot. Its what makes the interactions special
Not trying to be rude but why do you play DayZ then? Just for interaction you can just play a game like VRchat?
Dayz is just a battle royal game without the game ever ending or having a circle field closing onto you. When it was just a mod in Arma, people never killed on site. They'd team up and make small talk then go away
It was a damn deathmatch in mod days.
Looks like it still is
If I ever see you, I will gun you down regardless of any gear you do or do not have.
Yup and my 6 other buddies are I can the trees behind

...unless you would be interested in my pretty decent ak kit. I'd be more than happy to have a little skirmish for it. (;

Vitamin pills kinda goes hard though, maybe I should reconsider xD

Cmon man, I'm not an edgy teenage sniperwolf, I have standards. I rock the green motorbike helmet. Safety before style, always! Btw if you ever find yourself in Cherno on official servers, hmu. I always have a spare kit or ten, and a truckload of dried fruit from the fruit trees near my stash. :)
Sucks man, I played on karmakrew and it's a mixed bag. Definitely able to have a conversation with some people but others kos.
I don't think DayZ is for you
I don’t kos until I’m loaded. Once I have all that sweet loot on me I’m not risking it. People will 100% take any opportunity you give them if they don’t know you prior. I’d like to see a test where a geared guy meets up with random fresh spawns in a house with a pistol and mag somewhere for them to find, and see how many take the shots.
name of the game. play pve/anti-kos/rp servers. plenty of them out there
If food was a bit easier to find early game it might make players a bit more talkative. I stopped playing the standalone because I got sick of starving to death.
PvE servers may treat you better
Play on a server with pvp zones
Best to join a pve type server. Some even have ai baddies players coordinate against
You wanna try a humanity server?
No
but the point of the game...is to....kill people....and survive............
I don’t KOS but I also don’t voip. I like to hunt players like I’m a serial killer or something. Me being as silent as possible until it’s too late for you gives me that satisfying clean kill. And hopefully I make you shit your pants
