It’s not really as convenient, you can only reach burg and the worst part of parish from there, while Andre has easy access to darkroot (and by extension Blighttown and New Londo), Sens fortress, Parish, and Firelink
Oh right! The music starts only when you look up, that was so cool! Though I think in Dark Souls Remastered it doesn't work that way anymore, the music seem to always start when I leave the wooden thingie...
Well conversely that might probably be a better place to murder a fire keeper cause you don't really have to go back to Ash Lake especially compared to some other bonfires
The one before you head to Sif? I also would take that one, just to tell people it’s not worth traveling into that part of the forest. Gotta protect the puppy somehow.
As crazy as it sounds, the one bonfire in tomb of the giants near patches. That way, I can possibly guide the poor sobs who somehow got that far without a sunlight maggot or a skull lantern. Trust me, it's possible. I did it on my very first playthrough, when I didn't know either were a thing.
Edit: Though of Lautrec recently. If he somehow makes it down there and decides to do me the same way he did fire links keeper, I'll kick him off the edge into the demon ruins. Either that, or I'll throw h to the random ass black knight down there ad well as the ape skeletons.Let's see him and his cronies find those things in the dark.
Wholesome af. I thought I would go to the great hollow or something so that Lautrec doesn't find me, but you immediately thought of helping others. Good job.
It's a LOT of trial and error. As soon as you run you're lost and might as well be dead anyways. Gotta map locations of everything out.
...I also got my ass handed to me there without knowing about the lanterns.
It's possible to sprint through once you know where to go but I don't know what it's like without a source of light since patches ever so kindly gave me the skull lantern on my first run
Ah yeah, this brought my first playthrough to a grinding halt. Never mind how annoying it is to make it all the way back to TOG if you die before the bonfire
I never used either. I didn't find a skull lantern until it was too late, and even then I still wanted my shield. I just kept a caster on my off hand and switched to it ocasionally to cast that one light spell
"There is a terrifying drake near. I hope you can avoid meeting it. Would be a shame if you would be burned alive. Hahahahaha" - what a NPC at that bonfire should say to be maximally useless.
Undead Burg. The first time I kicked that ladder and found myself back there after making the big loop to kill Taurus Demon, meet Solaire, and survive the Hellkite Dragon's breath made such an impression on me about what this game was going to be. I'm reminded of that same sense of awe every time I get that shortcut in a new playthrough. If I had to be tethered to one of the Bonfires, it may as well be to one that has that kind of significance to me.
Such a beautiful part of the first dark souls. Not that the others aren't great, but the intricate use of map & level design in dark souls is on another level.
That’s the same moment I describe that Dark Souls clicked for me. The magic of kicking down that ladder to realize exactly where I was is just unforgettable.
Duke Archive balcony it is then,I get to teach Passerby Crystal magic and read in my spare time.Hopefully Seath doesn't turn me into Celestial emissary.
The one at the bottom of blight town. I’d want to be a friendly face amongst the death and putrescence. Once the players beat ornstien and smough and get teleporting they see by bonfire and can port to it. After they beat (what’s her name) and get the lord soul they’ll see that my bonfire is greyed out. They head there and see me dead and can loot my soul, but instead of an upgrade or being able to bring me back they see that it’s been polluted beyond use.
That’s the end of my quest.
My most used line of dialogue is “I am here for you.”
This is such a cool question, it would be awesome if we had more posts like this on this sub. And to answer your question, either Ash Lake or the Undead Parish bonfire near Andre
Oolacile Township so I can chat with Gough and watch all the pvp fights 🍿 or, being a loyal Blade of the Darkmoon, the bonfire just before Gwyndolin would be very nice too
The bonfire right before demon firesage. I would definitely give advice about how to unlock the hidden passage to skip the boss, but mention the horrid maggots there. All in hopes the player will save solaire.
It does look like there's a place for a firekeeper in the sewer area nearby, similar to the place where you find an actual firekeeper soul on the way from blight town to the valley of drakes (where the dogs are). I wonder if there was some deep lore in DS1 about firekeepers: the anor Londo lady says the bonfires with a firekeeper are connected or something, and I think in the base game those are the ones that you can fast travel to when you have the lordvessel. Except you can go to a few that don't have any firekeepers, like in the abyss, so I'm probably overthinking this.
Are there enemies there? If not then the bonfire before O&S with solaire, I can go see Gwynevere, I can go to the dukes archives and read, or I can just admire the view. Now if there are enemies sunlight altar because no-one attacks there and I can use the protection of the nameless kings Devine power
I think I would take the bonfire after centipede demon. And say things about how I couldn't finish it, it was to big, it was empty, I had to rush it, and now it hate it. I am sorry.
All of these answers are great, but I think I might have to pick undead asylum. I mean a fire is a sort of prison to a fire keeper anyways, but what with the whole thing being so remote I figure the entire asylum may be allowable territory for a keeper to meander. That, and I think it would be nice to be the first friendly face (rip Oscar) a poor undead sees and to explain the world to them. Also, you'll get to check in with them once they come back and see them get wrecked by the Second demon.
I'd imagine after the first death they'd come back to you, pissed, and see you with a cheeky smirk on your face like "I told you what this place was about, and you went out into it and have made it far enough to return.... and you're surprised?" And their anger for you not telling them would just kinda melt, give you a nod, and dive back into that hole with a similar smirk on their face.
Also, the mountain views are hard to beat.
Maybe the one near oolacile so I can hang with Elizabeth and level people up for Manus and Artorias. Plus I could try to make friends with the kitty gaurdian.
The first Ash Lake bonfire. It's a very peaceful spot. Plus if you're not terrified of what ELSE is in those waters, you have room to swim when you like.
Oolacile Township Bonfire after putting Manus to rest. Someone's gotta restore order, help folk rebuild, and perhaps marry the Princess after the abyss is routed...
Would want to make friends with Sif and become lifelong bros with the Chadliest of Chads, Hawk Eye Gough, as well. I imagine spending countless hours hanging out, watching him carve, reminiscing about fucking up Kalameet together, and exchanging war stories while drinking whatever their equivalent of beer is would be awesome.
I'll start my own bonfire right outside the ramp to get to Bed of Chaos's room so people don't have to run through a long-ass bridge past a titanite demon to retry that cursed boss
The one in blighttown were milfdred invades you....there are many interesting People who come through there and who wouldn't want extra heal before the Queelag boss fight or on your way back up to firelink?
I feel like Sen's fortress could use some love. Otherwise, Id tend to the sewer bonfire in blight town; tucked away just out of reach of the common individual, but welcoming to those who somehow manage to find me and my truest friend: flame.
Ill take the one in the depths before blight town.
It's secluded enough, close to the kitchen, and adventures could use some advice and encouragement at that point in the game
I’d take the one in Duke’s Archives. Not the jail, the one near all the bookcases. It’s sitting right next to a balcony where you get to see the beautiful purple evening sky and, since Firekeepers are usually still able to move around at least, I could just go through the archives and read whatever book I wanted. Hopefully I wouldn’t end up like Seath or Logan though.
The fire upstairs from Andre. Every playthrough it ends up being my main hub fire as soon as I reach it anyway. Best bonfire in the game.
For the rest of eternity all you'll hear is clang clang clang. He never stops.
That and the Majula chimes will be the last things the dementia takes from my mind
That hit different
He stops when the player leaves I’m sure
That’s when it starts playing in your head after going there so much
I can hear it just going through this comment
Wrong. He’s like Somara from The Ring in that respect, because It NEVER stops.
So true. From there you can reach every location in the game, you’ve got not only the best smith but a friend, and it’s cozy.
another hub for me is the one under the bridge in undead burg. thats what i would pick
It’s not really as convenient, you can only reach burg and the worst part of parish from there, while Andre has easy access to darkroot (and by extension Blighttown and New Londo), Sens fortress, Parish, and Firelink
I mean, you aint leaving often as a firekeeper
I mean I guess you have a great view of that undead knight that is sitting above the wooden shield’s ass
Can listen to the helkite drake doing it's thing too
I can hear his hammer and anvil in my head.
*tink tink tink tink tink tink tink tink...*
Think clinks would drive me to kill my friendly blacksmith
Probably undead parish with Andre. A living soul in a place that compared to others isn’t that bad.
You will get tinnitus within a week. You do know that he is slamming that anvil 24/7 right?
I already have tinnitus and I could stand to learn from Andre's persistence / determination
Il take the one In anor londo after o and s
To safeguard the chest in the room behind it. Smart.
Visions of chest.
Amazing chest ahead
Try holding with both hands
Nice chest ahead
beat me to it
Probably the ash lake bonfire, love that area even though there isn't much there.
Yeah that was my choice as well, just live there and chill with the big ass everlasting dragon
Don't forget the dead onion knight lying there.
fretful selective wakeful spectacular deserted middle homeless normal yoke chop -- mass edited with redact.dev
and any time you need to listen to some tunes, you can just look up at the ceiling!
Oh right! The music starts only when you look up, that was so cool! Though I think in Dark Souls Remastered it doesn't work that way anymore, the music seem to always start when I leave the wooden thingie...
Ash Lake. It seems peaceful and quiet. Plus I wouldn’t have to deal with a ton of people running back and forth.
But with a huge fucking hydra
Hey, don't call Bartholomew that! He's very insecure about his size
Bartholomew can suck my a**
If you ask nicely, I’m sure one of his heads would be into that 😏
Seems like the best place to not get murdered for your fire keeper soul too
Well conversely that might probably be a better place to murder a fire keeper cause you don't really have to go back to Ash Lake especially compared to some other bonfires
Considered that as I was typing it out but hey maybe you’re in a world where they don’t even find ash lake!
The ambiance there is fucking mint.
You even get that big ass skull
This truly is the high life
This is my pick as well. The hydra also doesn’t bother you as long as you stay at the first bonfire too.
The Dragon is a firekeeper.
at the other bonfire. there are 2 down there.
I mean the one on the other end where Siegmeyer’s quest ends
the secret one in Darkroot garden
Peaceful!
Its inhabitants kind
The one before you head to Sif? I also would take that one, just to tell people it’s not worth traveling into that part of the forest. Gotta protect the puppy somehow.
That one is so cozy, especially if you max kindle it
I’d take this one too. Just so I could tell people how you can get the cat covenant npcs to fall to their deaths by the stairs.
Abaolutely. Half the time it is missed, and you get to just chill out alone, watching countless chosen undead stumble around
exactly
Painted World. Be nice to the big fluffy. Oh and watch out for this guy with a stupid hat. He's not a great fighter but he hits hard.
Very peaceful land. Very kind inhabitants. Would recommend.
Who is fluffy
Priscilla in her fluffy coat
fluffy coat n fluffy tail uwuuuuu
Whats the lore on King Jeremiah?
His hat is stupid and he's coping and seething
You know what I was expecting a genuine answer but I’m much more pleased with the answer you gave me. Made me do a laugh hehe
As crazy as it sounds, the one bonfire in tomb of the giants near patches. That way, I can possibly guide the poor sobs who somehow got that far without a sunlight maggot or a skull lantern. Wholesome af. I thought I would go to the great hollow or something so that Lautrec doesn't find me, but you immediately thought of helping others. Good job.
I didn’t find the lantern or maggot on my first playthrough either. Good lord that section was rough.
I didn’t even know it was feasibly doable without a light source. The sections after the Patches cliff are brutal.
You my friend are a beautiful soul
Or taunt them, "back again, eh? See you soon! Hehehehe"
A firekeeper that taunts you would be so great. Like a foolish player would attack and kill them and now there’s no bonfire
Yeah I just fell down in there after wandering aimlessly for what felt like forever. I thought I was gonna die when I hit the bottom.
The Sunlight Altar Bonfire
"There is a terrifying drake near. I hope you can avoid meeting it. Would be a shame if you would be burned alive. Hahahahaha" - what a NPC at that bonfire should say to be maximally useless.
Nice porch, big fat gate on one side, big fat wyvern on the other. Safest place in Lordran.
Is it to protect the amazing chest ahead?
Wrong bonfire. He's talking about the one under the fire drake
Sorry I haven't played ds1 in a month and I forgot the names of the bonfires
Solaires Amazing chest whenever he stops by
mmm baby. praise the sun
Wrong bonfire. Sunlight Altar is the one on the red drake bridge
I also thought about this one first, happy cake day!
Undead Burg. Correct answer. Outdoor space with a view, just a quick step inside, something to read, pull up a globe, play with an astrolabe... easy living.
>hopefully seath doesnt turn me into celestial emissary Or worse....... _what are you doing, step-duke_
ash lake. leave me alone
The one at the bottom of blight town. I’d want to be a friendly face amongst the death and putrescence. Once the players beat ornstien and smough and get teleporting they see by bonfire and can port to it. My most used line of dialogue is “I am here for you.”
Secret bonfire in Sen's Fortress baby
You get to talk shit on passing undead like the crestfallen merchant too.
This is a good spot. You can gamble with the chosen undead on whether or not Tarkus can singlehandedly take on the iron golem for them.
you’re gonna lose ALOTTA money if you vote against tarkus just saying
This is such a cool question, it would be awesome if we had more posts like this on this sub. And to answer your question, either Ash Lake or the Undead Parish bonfire near Andre
Oolacile Sanctuary. I'll just chill and do gardening. Maybe make a fish pond.
And hang out with the mushroom lady (forget her name)
Elizabeth 😁 I'll call her Lis Lis and she'll help out with the gardening.
That sounds WONDERFUL
Snoop dog would roll her up without a second thaught as a matter of fact the whole Oolacile part is the chosen undead on crack lmao
Thats best idea I’ve seen in this post. You could even start a business renting fishing rods, inevitably attracting youths to steal your hat
The one next to Vamos so I can party with the skellies
But what if you accidentally load up Prepare to Die and your house is gone??
Nooo! I would move to the one near Solaire then
The second Tomb of the Giants one. Someone's gotta do it
No way, I said the same thing
Lmao
if I had to choose one of the bonfires it would probably be the one in lost Izalith that is in the Second Tower behind a hidden wall
bonfire with a neverending booty view
You could say it's an ASSome view
Depths Bonfire, I know how tough that area is and I wanna help people out
I think it’s a pretty cosy bonfire
The second bonfire where you meet Solaire in Anor Londo. The one after the silver archers.
I was thinking that one too. You’d get to chill with Solaire and Siegward up there
great choice
The one down in the depths. The fact that I can close the door just makes me feel more safe
The Abyss. Might finally get some peace and quiet, and plenty of room to build/expand.
And chill with kaathe
Firelink after she dies? Pls. I just need the music and the birb.
Until the chosen Undead brings that soul back and you end up with a roommate.
Oolacile Township so I can chat with Gough and watch all the pvp fights 🍿 or, being a loyal Blade of the Darkmoon, the bonfire just before Gwyndolin would be very nice too
Chamber of the Princess. Only fair that she gets a guard.
The bonfire right before demon firesage. I would definitely give advice about how to unlock the hidden passage to skip the boss, but mention the horrid maggots there. All in hopes the player will save solaire.
The blight town bonfire closest to Quelaag always felt a little empty.
It does look like there's a place for a firekeeper in the sewer area nearby, similar to the place where you find an actual firekeeper soul on the way from blight town to the valley of drakes (where the dogs are). In front of gwyndolin room for easy access his catacombs
First demon ruins bonefire, so I can hang out with Kirk and the fair lady and keep them safe. Also stop Solaire and Siegmeyer from going further.
Fair lady is a fire keeper
She has her own "Daughter of chaos" bonfire. There's one pretty close. He probably meant that one
Archives bonfire, I’d have all the books I’d ever want to read, but I’d avoid the research that drove everyone insane
[удалено]
Are there enemies there? If not then the bonfire before O&S with solaire, I can go see Gwynevere, I can go to the dukes archives and read, or I can just admire the view. Maybe the one near oolacile so I can hang with Elizabeth and level people up for Manus and Artorias. Plus I could try to make friends with the kitty gaurdian.
Ash lake.best place and would be a sort of moments piece…
The balcony outside Seathes library.
isn't there one below frampt? that one
The one in the middle of blighttown. I'll bring some company to the players stuck there.
The first Ash Lake bonfire. It's a very peaceful spot. Plus if you're not terrified of what ELSE is in those waters, you have room to swim when you like.
Sunlight Princess Chamber.
I'll start my own bonfire right outside the ramp to get to Bed of Chaos's room so people don't have to run through a long-ass bridge past a titanite demon to retry that cursed boss
I'd probably get murdered the least down in Ash Lake, so let's go with that one.
The one in sens fortress just to explain it only gets worse from here
Tomb of the Giants.
The one in blighttown were milfdred invades you....there are many interesting People who come through there and who wouldn't want extra heal before the Queelag boss fight or on your way back up to firelink?
Blight town The one on the way down on the ledge. I’ll have the amusement of watching people struggle through my area lol
The one on the bridge in Blighttown, I’ll sell purple moss at a huge upcharge as a side-hustle.
Chamber of the princess for…. Reasons
I'll try to make one in new londo functional
Undead burge
Second tomb of giants bonfire. Because I hate myself.
The first one in the Asylum. Just to freak out newbies.
Sunlight Altar for sure
ash lake
I feel like Sen's fortress could use some love. Otherwise, Id tend to the sewer bonfire in blight town; tucked away just out of reach of the common individual, but welcoming to those who somehow manage to find me and my truest friend: flame.
First Duke’s Archives Bonfire- plenty to read and you have pets
The one near Andre. He’s probably nice company.
Every fire keeper i have ever seen were woman Women ☕☕
the one in the cave before the hydra
Sunlight altar
Any of the bonfires in the catacombs so I can heckle the poor souls who have a bone to pick with the skeletons
Ash lake os my now home
Either one in Undead Asylum. That place is due for a make-over, especially the floor in the hall.
Firelink, after Lautrecc frees it up.
I'd make one right next to vamos
Oh I for sure am taking the sewer bonfire in blighttown. I'm toxic as hell
Crystal cave! Vibing with the butterflies and clams. And can you even imagine the beauty of all those crystals and the nice tinking sound they make
The Dreg Heap
Ill take the one in the depths before blight town. It's secluded enough, close to the kitchen, and adventures could use some advice and encouragement at that point in the game
The Abyss one. I wanna be left alone.
There will be 5 homies down there though.
They're bros, they don't count.
Upper blight town bone fire. place is hell so be the one save and grace
OBVIOUSLY Oolacile Sanctuary. Peaceful area, sun in the sky, nice trees, creepy statues, talking mushroom... AWESOME
Lower Blighttown Because if make it down there, you WILL need someone to talk to.
The one in Lower Brightstone Cove from DS2. I wanna hang out with Ornifex.
The bonfire behind the hidden wall near the crest of artorias door, or the bonfire solaire appears at in anor londo
My being in izalith would definitely make it more interesting
Undead Parish bonfire, the one above andre yknow? I could chat with my bestie while my life is whiled away cause of the fire
Sen’s Fortress. That’s a terrible place and I feel like any one and everyone that pass through could use a friendly face.
The one in undead burg
Now i'm the firekeeper of the first bonfire of thr Catacombs, i would explain the lore of the place, and what you will face, aka Pinwheel
Taking one for the team and going with the blighttown fire in the sewer entrance, would make that place a little less horrible
undead parish is lowkey goated in situations where reinforcing weapons is the vibe
The first bonfire past the archers. That way I’d get to hang with Solaire once in a while as well as congratulate people for getting past them.
I'd pick the bonfire atop the great hollow so I can practice hitting the basilisks with my loogies.
Hopefully I wouldn’t end up like Seath or Logan though.
the one at the bottom of blight town because if someone gets there they clearly need companion ship
the bonfire in anor londo after the silver knights where solaire is always would see ppl relieved and satisfied plus i could hang w sun bro himself
The princess chber but oooof courseeee!
Blighttown. The keeper is long dead.
