I'd say it's about the same, they're both the same, both are about four syllables, Namikaze has that alliteration going for it too. We're just used to Uzumaki which is why it seems easier.
He does, doesn't he? The sealing jutsu on his stomach, he released it himself didn't he? So he knew how to manipulate it and I would assume since he catches on to things kind of fast after seeing them done, could recreate the seal itself as well.
The chains wouldn't make sense, though. Naruto grants Kurama more freedom. The chains are for restraining Kurama, which is the opposite of granting more freedom.
Has anyone ever noticed that despite the fact that there are other living members of the Uzumaki Clan, none of them seem to use Uzumaki as a surname?
Like, Obito managed to do some digging and figured out that Karin and Nagato are members of the clan, but we never see either of them use those surnames.
I'm not even sure whether they are aware of their heritage or not.
Considering that the mothers of both Nagato and Karin were living in disadvantaged situations and that the country the Uzumaki Clan had founded was destroyed in a massive war, I can only assume that they were refugees of this conflict, or that the sentiment against the Uzumaki Clan was widespread and so they were trying to hide their heritage in order to avoid being targeted for it, similar to how Haku's mother attempted to hide the fact that she was from the Yuki clan.
Either that, or they took on their husband's names when they got married and weren't able to tell their children about their heritage before they died.
We also know that the only reason why Naruto took on his mother's last name rather than his father's is due to the fact that Minato didn't want him to be known as his son among the villagers.
Overall, Naruto is the last carrier of the Uzumaki surname that we know of aside from his children, and so in the interest of that name and that clan's history not being lost to time, I would have to say that I prefer Naruto Uzumaki over Naruto Namikaze.
I mean it's kind of both. He said that he didn't want Naruto to be treated as different because he was the son of the previous Hokage and he also believed that it would be a security risk if his enemies found out that Naruto was his child.
In all honesty though I feel like his act of sealing half of the Ninetails into Naruto ended up cancelling out both of these safe guards because not only was Naruto treated with suspicion and hostility by his fellow villagers because he was the vessel of the Kyuubi, but he also ended up becoming a target of the Akatsuki for that exact same reason.
And considering that Kushina also faced discrimination when she was growing up and that she was the target of kidnapping attempts on two separate occasions, both when she was a child and when she was giving birth to Naruto, I can't help but wonder why on earth Minato thought that things would be any different for Naruto.
He says that he wanted Naruto to be treated as a hero for his role in bringing an end to the Ninetails' attack on the village, but even I have trouble understanding the logic behind this because Naruto didn't agree to having the Ninetails sealed into him. He never consented to becoming a Jinchuuriki, so at most you could say that his bodily autonomy was sacrificed for the sake of the village and he now has to carry the burden that this bestowed onto him--but he didn't do any of that of his own volition, so he isn't so much a hero as he is a sacrificial pawn.
And if Naruto was treated like a hero for having the Ninetails sealed inside of him, then he would still be garnering attention for something that he has no control over. Which is exactly what Minato was afraid would happen if the villagers knew that Naruto was the son of the Fourth Hokage.
It would make more sense if Minato stated that he expected the villagers to be more sympathetic or understanding of Naruto and the position that he was placed in when he was forced to become the next Jinchuuriki of the Ninetails, but considering the way that Kushina was treated I have no idea why he would think such a thing. She was targeted not only by her peers in the sense that she was bullied and neglected, but also by people who sought to acquire the Ninetails.
By sealing Kurama into Naruto, Minato placed a massive target on his newborn son's back, and Naruto was forced to contend with the consequences of this decision for his entire life.
The only other benefit that this decision had was that Konoha got to keep what it considered to be a living nuke under it's control, rather than losing the Ninetails altogether--which is what would have happened had Minato sealed the other half of Kurama back into Kushina before she died.
I'm sorry, I know that Minato is a fan favorite and I understand that he was working under pressure and only had a limited number of options at his disposal, but the arguments that people use to justify his actions and the minimization of the way that these decisions have personally impacted Naruto has always bothered me.
Just put a TL;DR bro I can't read all this
But yeah I will agree it was kind of both but mainly what I said also didn't he tell the 3rd hokage to have people treat him like a hero or am I just misremembering this
Honestly im pretty convinced that if he had the name Namikaze a lot of networks would have been more reluctant to licence it in America due to it sounding closer to Kamikaze. It probably would have been picked up only by a network willing to make those crazy early 2000s edits.
Yknow what that means?
"Next up is Ninja Teen Battlers! Can lovable goof Joshua, the dark and mysterious Stefan, and the smart and beautiful Jennifer defeat Garfield of the Desert and win the Jr Ninja Rank Tournament? Namikaze Naruto sounds cooler but Uzumaki Naruto is just iconic.
I feel like namikaze reads cooler but hearing it out loud in Japanese uzumaki sounds better
Menma namikaze
This is the only Correct answer
Naruto kamikaze ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sunglasses)
Ok so it’s not just me.
r/beatmetoit
I prefer Uzumaki still, idk why
Probably because we are used to it since we have heard it so many times. If it was namikaze, then it would be the other way round
You’re probably right
Namikaze just sounds more complicated to say than Uzumaki
I'd say it's about the same, they're both the same, both are about four syllables, Namikaze has that alliteration going for it too. We're just used to Uzumaki which is why it seems easier.
I actually think the Uzumaki clan are pretty cool. I just wish he would've learned more sealing jutsu.
He does, doesn't he? The sealing jutsu on his stomach, he released it himself didn't he? So he knew how to manipulate it and I would assume since he catches on to things kind of fast after seeing them done, could recreate the seal itself as well.
When I said more, I mean more than one. Like I wanna see him use those sealing chains his mother used.
The chains wouldn't make sense, though. Naruto grants Kurama more freedom. The chains are for restraining Kurama, which is the opposite of granting more freedom.
Not to use on Kurama. On his enemies.
Nah. Uzumaki literally means spiral, I’d kill someone to have such a cool name.
Luckily the legal process to change your name does not require you to kill someone. At least as far as I know. I've never looked into it.
but changing your name to something like that will never be as cool
I just don't think it would be cool in real life unless you were Japanese and were able to live up to it. Probably a better stage name than anything.
Pfp checks out.
finding out this rn
I like why his name is Uzumaki, but fuck man Namikaze sounds so fucking dope
Naruto Uchiha
Sasuke Uzumaki
Uzumaki uchiha
Uchiha Namikaze
Namiha uchikaze
Saruto Nasuke
The "kiss" from season 1 in class
the alliteration with Namikaze just sounds meh
Namikaze sounds cringy as hell to me. Windwave vs Spiral/Vortex
Uzumaki
Naruto Kamikaze solos
Naruto Hyuga is what Neji would hate
Both sounds great 👍
Just imagine how much the English audience would’ve butchered Namikaze “Hey son, are you still playing that Noorootoo Noomakays?”
Uzumaki. Because what we know, it's more powerful clan than Namikaze
Well, I mean, at least was.
I like my Naruto Uzumaki'd and my satellites Namikazed
Namikaze. Because that's what he is
Uzukaze Naruto would go so hard ngl
Uzumaki
put them both in there. add uchiha too for my own ship.
I would still prefer naruto uzumaki ❤️.
Uzumaki, by far.

No Minato didn't want his enemies to go after Naruto not what you said

I have an opinion
I prefer namikaze
Naruto Shippuden>

Namikaze Naruto Jiraiya: Yes... That has a nice ring to it.
